When we went to the Windmill Restaurant, we didn't expect it to be anything special. But, when we got in there, we were proven wrong! The service was super fast even though the place was super busy, and our waitress (Stephanie) always had a smile and was so nice! They even had gluten free options (bread and buns)! The only thing to change about it is that there is no washroom, but other than that, it was a wonderful experience and everyone in our party would recommend!! We stayed in Holland a couple nights over the July 4th week. Accidentally found this place one morning for breakfast. It quickly became a favorite with my family. Food was great (omelette are HUGE!). Honestly the portion sizes are big! Either be prepared to not eat lunch or share with wife lol. We ended up eating here 2 more mornings before we left. Service was really good as well. I was on a much-needed trip away from the hectic bustle of Chicago with my girlfriend and stopped in this old-fashioned diner on Holland's small downtown strip. I got the corned beef and hash omelet and a cinnamon roll the size of my head. The omelet was amazing. Easily the best I've ever had. The corned beef was so finely chopped that it melted in your mouth. The cinnamon roll was good but would have been better if a little softer and warmer. Still really good, though. If this restaurant were on my way to work I would get this omelet everyday and probably gain 30 lbs. in a month. The service was friendly and timely and I have to add that this place now accepts credit cards, which is always nice. Highly recommended! read more

Great diner on a great street with great prices. It's a small place and was definitely busy when we went but sat at the counter within 5 minutes. I had the birds nest with 2 eggs and white toast. My wife had the same but she got a cinnamon roll instead of toast (which was not extra). All in all it was a delicious breakfast with great service. read more

This is by far and away our favorite restaurant for breakfast. Sometimes we have to wait in line for a while but it is worth it. Good plain food and good prices keep bringing us back. This is a great little restaurant. We waited about 30 minutes but the wait was worth it. Whatever you order please make sure to get bread with it. It is incredible which sounds silly, but it is. This restaurant is a gem! My husband had the hashbrown omelet and loved it. I had a one-egg bird's nest which was so good. In fact it even LOOKED so good that a woman at the next table ordered it too. Service was stellar even though there was a line forming outside the restaurant. The waitress did not make us feel rushed and even brought us some coffee to go. That being said, it's not a huge restaurant so it's best to get there before the big rush at 10am or so if you are eating there on a weekend. Very busy on a Saturday morning - a good sign that it is a place I want to be. I went with some locals they suggested I get the hashbrown omelet. Sold! I pick what I want no problem, I ask for wheat bread, the server asked if I want the homemade or regular..I get a choice to have HOMEMADE BREADE?!?! AWESOME. homemade please. it was SOOO GOOD. The best restaurant in Holland in my opinion. Get breakfast food here- while it does have other options, the breakfast stuff is the best. The omlettes (I've heard the hashbrown one is the best, but I haven't had it myself due to the calories in it), pancakes, and cinnamon rolls are my personal favorite. Beware though- it can get really busy during the late morning and they don't take reservations so you might be in line for a little while! The service is pretty good though, especially considering how busy it gets. Prices are fantastic for the quality of food you get, too! read more
