Friends warned us that we want to have the blinds installed as soon as possible for several reasons. We started our research for blinds very early but it was hard to chose a company to go with as the reviews on yelp in this area was not very helpful. But I'm glad that I listened to my guts and went with windowology. Yvonne was our designer and she was great in helping us choosing shades, shutters and blinds for our house. You also get a discount if you do more than 20 windows which was great as we have many windows. Today they came and installed the blinds. You have no idea how happy I was since our children have been waking up as soon as the sun rises because its so bright in their rooms. A team of two came and Yvonne also stopped by early and later to check on the progress which I very much appreciated. The guys did an awesome job installing everything. They vacuumed every dust and spec and it looks gorgeous. They even stayed longer than they have to just to make sure that everythingthing is installed perfectly!!!! Wow what a great service. Our cord on our 25 year old blind broke. No one wanted to repair it because of age. I called Window-ology, talked to Carol. She said "Bring it in and let Joe look at it. We took it in. Talked to Joe. He said "No problem 7-10 days. Between $95.-$195. 4 days later, repaired ,around $100. Great service. Next times we need blinds will definitely go there. FAMILY OWNED. read more

Well I really don't want to write such a negative review , but I feel like I have no choice. First of all, the people are really nice. Especially Dustin who works in sales and is very professional . Bryan who is an installer is kind and wonderful . So are the ladies that answer the phone.. The problem is the quality !! I bought 7 blinds for my windows . In short they have replaced a total 7 times certain blinds due to scratches , small holes, and slightly bend slats. I don't believe they inspect the blinds once received. They need to have a better quality control or inspection. Also once they are installed they are so dusty and dirty. I'm still waiting for the 8th time , this time on the living room blinds !! It's taken a lot of time , patience and inconvenience out of myself and wife. At this point I would not recommend to friends and family. read more

As a Costco member, I felt it was a smart idea to explore the options for window treatments with a vetted company and take advantage of the promotion offered. Joe Willis was the salesperson who came out and showed me various options from Graber. I admit I didn't do enough research or compare with other options as I would recommend my clients or friends do, so I was more than a little nervous when I placed the order same day. That said, I'm absolutely delighted - the fabric shades are just perfect in my home - let in plenty of light, which was my priority, while enhancing privacy. The shade with blackout liner in my bedroom actually blocks light as I'd hoped. They look great, the cordless mechanisms operate smoothly, top-down, bottom up design is super cool, the fabric is elegant and while the look is clean and contemporary, it blends well with my 1941 architecture. The installation was efficient - and every shade fit PERFECTLY. Both gentlemen who visited my home were masked and very professional. They even removed my old blinds that I'd taken down to paint my window trim prior to install. I highly recommend these folks! read more

I am happy to recommend Window-Ology with the highest rating following the sale and installation of LR/DR plantation shutters and a variety of other window coverings in our Danville home. I was referred to Window-Ology after admiring the shutters in a friend's home. We worked with Alan Robinette who provided expert advice with good taste and a common sense approach without being too aggressive. We spent considerable time debating between wood and faux and he provided pros-cons of each and demonstrated them in his showroom. Later in our home he provided excellent input to address the needs in other rooms, including honey-comb shades in BRs and vertical blinds to match existing window covers in the family room. The installation for all was on-time and very quick. The shutters fit perfectly including a nice "sill-cap" that goes over the old sill that was damaged by previous owner. They really bring out the newly remodeled living room / dining room and open/close easily. The other window coverings included a variety of colors that complimented the new paint and looked as we had expected from the samples and all were installed quickly without issue. I had originally considered a home-super store for the job and explored that before looking at Window-Ology. Not sure how the super store would have worked out, but I can say I am very satisfied with the product, price, installation and customer-oriented service I received from Window-Ology. read more

Had this company come out and give me a quote earlier this year for window coverings for two windows. Came home early from work for the appointment. While the salesperson was here asked him if he could tell me where I might find some hinges for an unrelated project. Showed him the hinge. He said he would look into it. Never heard back from him on the hinge. Window covering came in and while the installer was here putting them in I asked him if he could tell me where I might find the hinges. He said that they use that hinge at the company and he would get back to me. Heck, I even tipped him. Never heard back from him either. Now for some reason I called this company out again for another window covering. Took work off, 1/2 day. This time two people showed up. This window is approximately 2ft x 2ft. They were here over 30 minutes. Took measurements, even used a laser device to measure. I commented on the device and they asked if I would rather have them use a conventional tape measure. Said no, that one will be fine. So, they call and tell me they want to come over again for final measurements. (I've been a licensed contractor for over 35 years) I ask them why they have to come back for final measurements for this little window when they didn't for the first two larger window coverings I purchased? Now, I'm irritated about this. I'm going to have to make time again to take off work. However, they made a mistake. They either lost the measurements or they screwed up taking the initial measurements. These two people who showed up did not instill the slightest confidence in me when they were here. So, here is the deal. Please don't use "final measurements" as an excuse. Next, have a chat with your people about making false promises. It's just bad service. One thing though. A woman who was apparently recently employed there gave me a lead on where to find my hinges over the phone. Checking tomorrow to see if they ran my credit card. They were as careful and precise as we are with our home. I used P & J on previous homes and there is absolutely no comparison. After an unfortunate accident at a friends cabin resulting in some damaged louvers on the shutters I removed said shutter and took it into Window-Ology. This was a minor repair job and if the company made enough to pay for their time I would be shocked. But I was in desperate need of help. Alan the owner along with several of his awesome staff totally made my problem their problem. After researching where to find these 30 year old louvers for the repair I received a call and an email. The call was to explain the plan, for me to order the louvers online, they didn't have a source so they found me a source, then take it to a great painter they used that could color match and paint. The email with the link to where I could purchase online. I followed Alan's instructions and accomplished a great repair and solved our problem. Bottom line here was that the Owner and Staff came along side me in a time of need without regard to profit and made it happen for me. I'm confident this company will continue to be very successful because they provide an extremely high level of service. Plus, they are extremely prompt to fix any glitch--although we've only had one, where one of the cords broke on a large woven wooden blind. This review is long overdue. Window-ology in Pleasanton is the best. Their work is utmost professional, thorough, and detailed. Alan Robinette, the owner, is super friendly, a perfectionist with over 30 years of experience. I walked in into his Pleasanton showroom to see if I can hire their company to fix and repair a horrendous installation from another company, using a brand purchased through Costco who has stopped carrying them since. Even though I was not a Window-ology client at that time, Alan called me back and came to the house, after closing hours, to see if he can help. He was horrified by the atrocious install job, and made it his personal mission to make my second shutter experience a happy one. Alan is an incredible individual. Window-ology installed 33 new shutters from Norman Window Fashions, in wood, in four days. The installation work was beautiful, the installers were thorough, cleaned up and vacuumed as they worked each room, and the shutters themselves are absolutely gorgeous. Alan went the extra mile by checking every single one of the 33 shutters himself with his eagle eye: . tested every single panel in how well it swings . tested all the louvers for tightness, checked for cracks and scratches . checked that there were no unreasonable gaps behind the shutter frames . and looked at each shutter to make sure they were hung straight to 1/8" If there were corrections that were needed, Alan quickly relayed the instructions to his crew and personally rechecked the shutters to make sure the work was implemented to his satisfaction. He is a perfectionist who is detailed and organized. It was incredibly reassuring, and fun actually, to work with an owner and contractor who is not only super knowledgeable--a virtual walking encyclopedia on shutters; but, also unbelievably passionate and deeply involved with the products he sells and the company he owns and represents. The Window-ology crew has never missed an appointment, and Alan and his admin staff are extremely communicative, responsive, and beyond fantastic at follow-throughs. If you are detail oriented; if you want your shutter frames to line up exactly just right next to each other; if you want the louvers to have just the right amount of resistance when opening and closing to prevent damaging the wood; if you want a designer who knows how to measure your windows down to an 1/8" and make the appropriate calculations; if you do not want the shutter measured too short and got them installed that way anyway; if you want your shutter to have the same width as your current windowsill; if you do not want your windows damaged or have an installer take a boxcutter to them without prior permission; if you have walls that are not flat and/or a shutter frame that is not installed flat, and you do not want noticeable gaps between shutter frame and wall along with a 1/2" thick of caulking running the length of the shutter frame to hide the gaps as the solution; if you want your shutters to be a piece of art; if you want a quick response time when needed adjustments are overlooked.......or, if you just simply want great value for your money, impeccable work and work ethics, the confidence that you can trust the company and its installers to know what they are doing, plus excellent customer service post-sale, and, post-install.....you want Alan and Window-ology, and the Norman Shutters that they carry. I ordered a shade to cover my very large sliding door with lots of exposure from the sun. After it was installed, it developed issues in the quality and measurements of the shade. (I only needed 2 windows covered.). The consultation alone was worth whatever extra these may have cost vs ordering online. I completely LOVE the color and there is just no way I could have gotten such unusual yet perfect colors without the home visit. And the twin sheers in the bedroom - holy cow! They are the grooviest roller shades of all time. I think they mfg them right there in Pleasanton. As far as I know you can't even buy them anywhere else. We had black solar shades installed throughout our entire home this spring and couldn't be happier. Thanks to our fabulous design consultant, Melody Isaac, we were able to come up with a design that fit perfectly for our modern, minimalistic, hillside home. Based on her suggestion, we ended up choosing black solar shades (verses white) to really maximize our view. Though, at first, it seemed counter-intuitive, the black color made them much easier to see through. Also, based on her expertise, she suggested going with white cassettes which would blend in seamlessly with our walls/ceilings. In the end, we could have not been happier. Melody is as good as it gets. She has extensive knowledge about both the products and design. She is thoughtful, a great communicator, and we felt as though she really listened to what my husband and I were looking for. My husband and I just completed our 4th job with Alan (owner) at Window-ology. As always it turned out perfectly. It was only one small window, this time, but with some special issues. We were remodeling the kitchen and had to have the counters and backsplashes cut to accommodate a shutter and trim that were still being made. Alan provided us with all the necessary trim pieces and measurements to do a "mock-up" to insure a perfect fit. The counter was cut perfectly, as a result. A second request was to make the lower portion of the shutter a little taller than the upper portion (the shutter has 4 panels and can be opened in a variety of ways to accommodate light or privacy - photos posted). The rest of our house has 2.5" shutter slats and blinds, but to make this request happen, Alan suggested 1.75" slats. We added one additional slat to the lower panels to make them taller. The result: you cannot tell the difference in slat size and do not notice that the lower panels are just a bit taller. It turned out absolutely perfectly. All this at a price we found to be most reasonable. Perfect service, perfect product. An extra helping of applause goes to Sean for precise installation! Because this is a linear product and our windows have a grid pattern, perfection in installation was critical. As usual, Bravo, to Alan and Window-ology!! Thank you Alan! read more

The previous owners of our new condo spent $14,000 on cellular shades in 2015. The window people had to remove the shades to install new windows and suggested that we call the company who originally installed them. We had the new windows installed and then called Window-ology to reinstall the blinds on one large window and they refused! Wow, even if someone spends $14,000 they won't help you out because they claimed they were no longer under warranty. Of course i was offering to pay to re-install but they refused to help. Would never use these guys for new blinds, they're expensive and don't provide any support service. Ugh. read more

I originally purchased window blinds for my two bedrooms some time back (4 or 5 years ago) and have just now gotten around to wanting to match two smaller windows. Window-ology was able to find my earlier order, with measurements, but sent someone out to re-measure just to be sure nothing had changed. You know the old saying, 'measure twice, cut once.' Sadly, in that short period of time the manufacturer no longer made those exact blinds, but I was offered something very similar. The installer, Matt, just came out today. They are in different rooms than the older ones, but I don't think you could really notice the difference if you were looking at them right next to each other. I was even provided a small refund of 10% of my purchase for the inconvenience of not being able to match. Who does that? I wish I could remember the name of the first installer who came out, he was great. The installer who came today was cut from the same cloth: Personable, efficient, totally cleaned up after himself, and even made a minor fix where the manufacturer had made a part too wide. Probably saved a week or more of time if I would have had to wait for it to be sent back and remade. I went to this store after seeing the reviews on Yelp, these guys have a very good selection for all kinds of Window coverings. I decided to buy the roller shades for my windows and got a quote, I cam home and checked Online and was shocked to find out that the same product for the same size Window could be purchased online for $100 instead of $300 at the store. I immediately brought this to the owner's notice and he initially refused to lower the price; then after a few days, I got a call from the store saying that the owner had talked to the CEO of the vending company and agreed to lower the price. In the end I did not like being lied to and confronted for pointing out the difference in price. read more

1/4/17- the new blind came in apparently on the 22nd of Dec. The installer came out to install the new blind, its 54" instead of 84". 30" to short. So, another round of ordering and waiting. 2/21/17- I'm happy to update this review to say that the company made things right and the blind was successfully installed last week. Although, this was a long drawn out process, I'm very happy that they followed through and made things right before completing the job. read more

Wish I could give a higher rating as I love the product but have had the WORST install experience ever! First, they have been late to ALL of our appointments even the design consult which took forever but was very productive. Now on to the install which has been the most frustrating experience ever! When they came the first time they were almost an hour late and didn't have all of the equipment to finish the job. We did have 2 shades that came the wrong size but they didn't bring the equipment to install one of our bathroom blinds and they never finished the shutters that were installed. Here we are 6 weeks after the fist install and almost 3 1/2 months after we ordered our coverings and they call (10 mins after our appointment) to cancel our install today. Had to leave 2 messages and wait over 4 hours from the scheduled appointment to hear about our rescheduling and they want to push us off for another week! Have lost all faith that they will make the next appointment on time and really want my job done so I don't have to deal with them anymore. read more

Wait until you need a warranty repair. Lady that answers phone is rude and makes you feel like it's your fault. Considering same failure keeps happening, how is it my fault? I contacted Window-ology and the rep I talked with, Analyn, looked up my file, made a few phones calls and had a replacement blind shipped to me within a couple of weeks. Wow. I purchased a houseful of blinds from these guys 5 years ago. I recently had a problem with one of them that required the blind to be sent back to Hunter-Douglas. Even though it had been a long time and well out of warranty, the folks at window-ology really took care of me. They sent the blind back to Hunter Douglas, had it repaired at no cost and even picked up the shipping and handling charges resulting in zero out of pocket expense for me. I was prepared to pay for shipping and handling but they took care of it with no kvetching from me at all. Super nice folks and it's always better to support local vs. big-box.
