Great job on a re-string job. I have a very large window with wood blinds. The blinds were hanging crooked owed to some fairly old string. We wanted to investigate the option of getting the blinds restrung rather than having to invest in all new blinds or a whole new window covering option. Being a Pleasanton resident, I passed by Window-ology's store location and I would also see the truck on Division Street. I believe the owners of the company live in town as well. I wanted to keep my $$ local and spend at a local mom and pop. I emailed the company to find out if they would re-string. I was told yes, and that the estimate cost would be between $78-130. I felt that was a very good price assuming that the job would be done well. Luckily my husband was able to take the blinds off himself and we were able to bring them into the store location. This saved us some money since otherwise we would have been charged a fee to come to our house and take it down and redeliver. I'm very happy with the work that was done. They told us originally it could be a 7 day turn-around, but we got the blinds were finished the next business day. And the blinds now hang straight and the strings were replaced. The total cost was less than $100 and given the size of the window frame, it was a very fair transaction. Thanks. read more

Had I only called Window-Ology first! My experience from beginning to end was nothing short of FABULOUS. I worked with Michele who is so nice and extremely knowledgeable about her products. She was helpful in providing solutions and offered a multitude of options at different price points. All of the window treatments I received from Mimi's are truly JUNK and I did not find any of those types of products here. We have referred a dozen friends now who have all used Window-Ology and they have all had the same fabulous experience. We have now used them in a few different properties and are thrilled with the products we received and the process from start to finish was enjoyable. I don't usually write reviews, but my experience was so good with Window-ology that I just had to give them the "props" they deserve! We ordered our plantation shutters 6 weeks ago and they arrived right on schedule as promised. They were installed today and I absolutely love them! The installation team of two were very friendly, efficient and professional. During the installation, the stopper on my bathroom sink wouldn't come up, so one of the installers, who knew about plumbing, took the time to troubleshoot it for me! That is going above and beyond! I highly highly recommend Window-ology! I got a quote from 3-day blinds and Windowology for shutters for my home. I compared both quotes and the 3-day blinds quote was significantly cheaper then Window-ology. The price diffrence was made me assumed that the shutters were not the same type. Even though the 3-day blinds price was lower, I was not impressed with the customer service of 3-day blinds so we placed the order with Window-ology who had great customer service. A week later, I decided to look back at the 3-day blinds quote and discovered the quote was for the same exact shutters we purchased with windowology. It was so hard for me to swallow the price difference so I called Alan, who was very understanding and decided to help me out on the price of the shutters. He did not need to do that since I asked the question after the fact. The window shutters are in my home now and they look amazing! Drove to the showroom, got a quote and made an appointment for a measurement. The sales person did not show up. When I called back they told me they lost my address and phone number. I asked if they were still coming and the woman said she would see if she could fit me in, that my sales person was busy with another customer. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Then... Spoke to the owner, he came to my house himself. He turned this around and made it right. Nice guy and really cares about his customers. I don't think any thing like this will ever happen again. We begin shopping around for shutters and blinds a few years ago. We interviewed many contractors and were really impressed with Phil. He did not quote us with the lowest rate but appeared professional and sincere. We initially chose another contractor to complete the work. But his initial estimate and his final estimate were different by a few thousand dollars. We decided it was time to call Phil. He returned to complete a more thorough measurement and provided us with a contract and final price. A few weeks later, he contacted us when our shutters and blinds were ready and arranged for his installer to complete the work. His installer was very professional and spends the entire day working on our shutters and blinds. I think he was exhausted by the end of the day and we noticed two or three installations were not done to our satisfaction. Phil reorder the items that we were not satisfied with and have them replaced. We also had two windows with decorative molding nearby and they were done beautifully. We plan to call Phil again to replace shutters that came with our house and were installed incorrectly. I definitely recommend this company to anyone considering shutters, blinds... etc. read more

I originally spoke with Budget Blinds, who were a couple of hundred bucks cheaper, but the service was worse, and in the end couldn't (and wouldn't) do what I wanted. The review is long overdue, but better late than never, right? My husband and I received outstanding service from Window-ology, Shem Isaac and their (very likeable) installers and here's the kicker - this was not just a one time affair. I've split and labeled this review to try to help any tl;dr problems this review might pose. ////////// Routine Part of the Story: To begin the routine part of the story, I will say that I chose and have lived with my Norman shutters for almost a year now. To start with, these shutters were a big order - both monetarily and in size because we chose to do our whole house all at once. Shem was in the front room when we first entered the Window-ology office. The office is smaller than I expected, but lined with samples so that you can see and touch them. Unlike a big box store, it is small and personal and Shem took the time to look at and explain each offering to us. After listening to all our concerns about our current window treatments, Shem suggested the composite Norman shutters in a 40/60 split to address privacy while maintaining light and getting rid of the darned cords that were always breaking and getting tangled. It was the right choice and has immensely alleviated our problems with the old window treatments. After ordering I was notified that the shutters would take 6-8 weeks to come since they are ordered from overseas. Even with that expectation, my order seemed overlong, but the wait was compounded by the fact that we ordered just before winter holidays. Installation for a three story house took two full days for the first pass. I say first pass because some shutters had arrived incomplete from the supplier which meant they had to come back at a later date and install those shutters which happened another 6-8 weeks later. Shem was always on hand to answer any questions during the entire process. He literally gave me his cell number and told me to call him at any time. And true to his word, he always answered whenever I called (yes, after work, at dinner time, you name it) and was always helpful, kind and courteous. Shem, his likeable personality and uber-flexible nature was a huge driving force in why we ultimately chose Window-ology. ////////// Non-Routine Part of the Story: But let me tell you what confirmed to me that we had made the right decision. It's the the non-routine part of the story where one of the shutters fail. This all happened about two months ago. It was due to the mounting of this particular shutter. Because our window above the sink is tricky - a faucet handle is in the way and we were looking for a way to still open it without taking off the hinge pins - Shem designed a shutter just for our needs there, but unfortunately it ultimately failed. Their response to this failure I felt was the true mark of their customer service. Shem came right out the day I called, very concerned that no one had been injured. After that he took a look at the shutter. Well, they completely replaced the shutter and installed a new one to my specifications (of a different design) completely free of charge and treated me with graciousness and respect through the whole replacement process even though this time they were not getting paid. And that was no questions asked. I did not have to request anything - it was forgone to them that they would do this. ////////// Summary: Window-ology reminds me of all the good reasons to support small, local businesses and I recommend Window-ology 100%. Called yesterday to check on status. Ordered 2 basic blinds a month ago. They couldn't find the order. When I then talked to a woman Lori, she said "oh we had some questions on your order before it was processed". The question was - do you want a valance. The question took 2 seconds to answer and they had let the order sit for a month. I was the one who had to call them on status. I was then told that the order was processed and would be ready for install sometime mid to late August. When I asked about my Costco rebate, they couldn't give me an answer on the status of the refund and then when I was put on hold they actually disconnected the call. read more

Have ordered from Windowology for years but now had a special request. I ordered six shades for my home in Mexico. They arrived in Arizona and I brought them to Mexico. Alan was kind enough to send information not only on HOW to hang them but a video explaining how the brackets should be mounted. The gentleman I hired to install them was very pleased. We bought window shades from this outfit. The material of the shades is fine. The problem is the strings that raise and lower the shades break every 3 years and have to be restrung. Windowology charges an outrageous fee for restringing. A small to medium window shade costs about $100.00 each time. When we complained about the frequent re-stringing cost they said it was normal for shades to need restringing since they are raised and lowered each day. However, we do not raise and lower them each day and we have some from Home Depot for 20 years and never needed restringing. Completely unhappy with Windowology's inferior stringing and exorbitant re-stringing charges we found another place to restring their shades. Not only do they charge half of what Windowlology charges but they told us the reason Windowology's string break so often is because they use cotton instead of polyester. Polyester lasts much much longer! Windowology must know this but persists in using cotton strings so they can continue to gouge customers for repairs. This not a reputable practice. Do not buy shades from Windowology that must be raised and lowered unless you want to be taken advantage of. read more

I reached out to this company based on the reviews and was excited to get shutters in our new house. Yvonne came out on a Saturday and seemed nice. She was aware that I was seeking different quotes from different companies. She sent me an email a few days after we met with the quote. I emailed her back to let her know we are still not sure who we will choose. I emailed her again to let her know we were not going to get shutters from windowology but we were still interested in the other options for our kitchen windows and she never responded. It has been almost two weeks now and still nothing. Very poor customer service. We had to seek elsewhere and waste more time on getting something for our kitchen. read more

I love this local business! Two years ago an expensive Bali blackout shade in the master bedroom broke and they repaired it quickly and reasonably. Unfortunately the mechanism chafed the cord and recently needed repair again. Window-ology entirely replaced the headrail and internal parts with their own design THE SAME DAY for a very reasonable price, and stuck with their high estimate even though I was told the work went over that amount. I admit that I was irritated that the repair only lasted two years, but having replaced the mechanism I am told the problem is solved forever - I just wish I had been told that originally. At one point, I was ready to give Window-Ology just 1 star. Why? I had to deal with two incompetent sales reps back-to-back who really did not seem to know what they were doing and would give me the run around. Let's just say that I had started working with them in April 2013, placed an order May 2013, and the work was not finished until October 2013. My change of heart over the rating was for a number of reasons: I felt that the home office staff (Jennifer & Cory) really worked their tail off to try and help rectify the situation with what little information they were provided by the sales folks, the installers were excellent (left no mess in my house and they were completely honest and quick to point out defective pieces and immediately placed an order for new ones), and Alan (the owner of Window-Ology) personally came to my house to come up with a solution and ensured that the job was finished in an expedited manner. I will say that Alan is a real stand up guy who cares about his business and was completely sincere in his apologies over the entire situation. For all that trouble, he even threw in a super nice trim that complemented my home. Nowadays when things go wrong businesses would easily put blame on the customer - I appreciate Alan and his team for not doing that in this case (if they did, it could've turn an already bad situation to worse) and for owning accountability for the issues. I guess my recommendation for anyone wanting to do business with Window-Ology is to ask for Alan if possible - he is as honest and professional as it gets. I wish I had requested him from the get go because things would've been done stat! After all the wait, the finished product turned out beautifully and I'm very happy with it. read more

First of all, a great thank you to Windowology for building such a great team of staffs! My husband and I were amazed by how their staffs took pride in contributing their role in their company. Every staff we worked with, we had an extremely stress free experience. Phil - the designer was very down to earth honest (like the family man character) on assisting us in picking out the design and the material that shoot our need and our budget. The installers - Ed T., Matt, and Khalid; were very professional and hard working employees. They were polite, respectfully of our home, took great pride of the whole workmanship of the installation (we felt like it was their own house! They ran into a problem where Toll-Brother - the builder did not built a level window sill and it effected the installation of the shutter. Instead of rushing through the job, Ed and his team took their extra effort to get us the best result) and most of all leave us a very "CLEAN" job. We could not find any flaws when we do a walk through at the end. Lastly, with Claire - office administration staff was very courteous and friendly. With this strong of a team playing their professional key role in their company, my husband and I believe their company is on their way to success. We will definitely share our experience with everyone who we know needs "Professional" window covering.
