Went there Saturday afternoon. Parking may be a little tricky. There was a line but it went rather quickly. They have dim sum items on one side and hot fast food, roast pork, on the other side. There are lots of places around San Francisco where you can get some buns. Walk to some neighborhoods in the city and you will run with many different options for buns in SF. There many places which specializes with the sweet buns and others with savory buns. You go to the Richmond ( not the city of Richmond) neighborhood in SF and you will find so many good places to grab some buns. There is one place which has mostly savory buns which are either baked or steamed. This place is located on Clement street in San Francisco and it's called Wing Lee Bakery. On the last week of July stroll on Clement street on not so sunny day I landed at the Wing Lee Bakery not the Wing Lee restaurant nextdoor (not the app). Inside there are lots of buns for sale. I got the steamed pork buns which are soft and tasty. I also got the baked pork buns which are also delicious. They have lots of dim sum available for purchase like sew mai and shrimp dumplings usually for take out although they have some seating inside. This is the place to grab some buns on the go when you are in SF in the Richmond ( not the city) District. One thing I like about this place is they open a little later than most of the takeout dim sum spots nearby, so I can still grab some dim sum after work. I've been here a few times nwo and my favorites are the wo tip (pan fried dumplings) and the shrimp har gow. I also really like the lo mai gai (chicken sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf). It's a good value and tastes great, especially with the hot sauce on the table. I didn't care much for their shumai though because the texture was a little too mushy for me. It's cash only spot like most of the other dim sum places around here in the city. They have tables inside as well if you want to sit down and chow down. Inflation has hit here too. The chicken combination bun now $3.95. It's a meal in itself. Inside you'll find pieces of chicken, a slice of hard boiled egg, a piece of shiitake mushroom, a piece of Chinese sausage. It's best to eat it the same day. If not the same day, either steam it or wrap a wet towel around it and microwave it to reheat. This is one out of three of my go-to places on Clement Street for cheap dim sum. It's a small place for takeout mostly with only a couple tables inside. The ladies here speak minimal English so it helps if you know Chinese or are just very clear when pointing out what you want. Most of the standard items are 3 pieces for $3.95. Their Pork Sew Mai are always a safe bet and the Shrimp Gow are not bad but the skin is a little thick. A lot of people come for the big and fluffy Steamed Buns ($2.20 each). I usually get BBQ pork but they also have chicken and veggie options. Overall the quality here is pretty good for a dim sum fix. Convenient and easy. We were on our way through town and unfortunately our usual dim sum pickup was closed for some reason. Some quick google and Yelp searching on route brought us here which was a short trip outside the beaten path. The parking leaves a bit to be desired but it is SF after all. We stopped by the BBQ as well as the bakery since they were right next to each other and both were quick once we got to the window. We were able to pick up a couple of plates as well as some dim sum to go. Staples from dim sum were turnip cakes, taro dumplings, jook, and wrapped sticky rice. No egg custard tho unfortunately. We also grabbed plates from next door for good measure. Everything was cooked well, flavors hit the mark, and we were able to do recovery the rest of the weekend. after trying several of the dim sum spots on clement, im going to declare this as the best for the basic. i had their hargow/shrimp and shu mai pork/shrimp steamed dim sum and they were both perfect and flavorful. it was pillowy and warm to the taste which was important. cold dim sum is sad!! it's pretty busy during random rush hours like breakfast and lunch, so be wary of the queue and how it moves. the ladies are fast paced and will ring you up before you can second guess your order LOL i love it! they are cash only so please hit the ATM down the block for that. read more

I got a baked bbq pork bun and really enjoyed it. The bread was slightly sweet and the filling was very flavorful and one of the most red fillings I've had. Got the bean curd rolls (had noodles, veggies, including baby corn inside), har gow (probably the best on this street I've had), and the chicken skewer (might have been the best thing we ate this day- 100% coming back for this). The chicken thigh was extremely tender and crispy on the outside, and spiced with five spice, etc resulting in a lot of flavor. Beef ball was also mushy and had no flavor. My tongue can feel the excessive starch that they added. The last thing I had was the tofu skin wrap which is basically a Chinese mini burrito filled with vegetables and covered with sauce. 7 /10 rating. Would be better if just a tad bit warmer. Anytime I see a line it peaks my interest to know more. So, even tho we had just ate lunch, I joyfully jumped in line to get a sampling assortment for later. And since "Good Luck" down the street was closed, this place looked like one of the most happening places on the block! Absolutely delighted with the vegetarian bean curd roll. They were plump and tasty. Think of them as a wrapped pocket of monks jai. Not as impressed with the other two items bought today. The skin on the shrimp dumpling har gao was very thick. I stopped in recently to pick-up 30 har gow and 30 siu mai (10 orders each) for a potluck. The ladies there are always friendly and fast. Some other favorites I enjoy there are the taro dumplings (not usually available at other Chinese bakeries) and the sticky rice bao. I grew up going to Wing Lee Bakery. As a child, my mom enrolled me into "Score" as an after school program a block away, and she would always take me to Wing Lee after it was done. It's been almost 30 years of coming here, and the food is still the same as I remember. The prices definitely is a bit higher, but paying about $4 for an order of 3 dim sum items is still more cost efficient than eating out. They recently reopened their indoor eating space, since it was closed due to COVID in the past few years. They have about 4 tables where you can sit to enjoy your food with soy sauce and hot sauce provided on the table. It's definitely nice as a grab and go. My favorites here are their steamed baos, pork siu mai, ha gow (shrimp dumpling), banana custard mochi (they don't always have this though), and their lotus wrapped sticky rice.
