Was in town for the weekend festival. I wanted something small to eat that wouldn't be to messy. This place was a sit down side to eat or a Togo side. I went to the to go side. They have a wide selection of pastries and breads. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant. I love how there were a couple of people taking orders to keep the line moving. My croissant was fresh and crispy. It didn't taste like it had been sitting long in the display. I didn't use it but there's a sitting area outside. read more

A wonderful bakery and diner with a great environment and delicious food. All the food and drinks we ordered were fantastic. I especially loved the sausage sandwich thats only available on the weekends, and the added hot sauce was so tasty. Bright cafe located in the downtown Livermore area. I think they're sort of new, but this place has a vintage feel to it. They have a morning/lunch service and a later dinner service, but l have only been here for breakfast. Since there are a bakery as well, they use their own bread in a lot of the different menu items. Came here to grab breakfast on my way out of town. Also, I wanted to pick up some baked goods. Both the café and the bakery are connected where you can walk right through to the other. For breakfast, I sat at the bar and the folks they are very friendly and helpful. I ended up getting the breakfast sandwich (served on their semolina bread) where I added some avocado and a cappuccino wash it down. The sandwich was simple and very tasty. I also got a cookie that was also very delicious. After my meal, I walked over and got a loaf of semolina bread as well as a baguette. These breads made for very good sandwiches later on as well as just eating slices with eggs at home. I'm not too familiar with the downtown Livermore area, but I think this place is such a gem. read more

Me and the family decided to eat here after I got off work. As soon as I entered, I was impressed by the decorations and friendly staff. There is not only a sitdown restaurant but a to go area for pastries and drinks. We opted for the Housemade bagels, which were delicious. Unlike any other bagel I've tried. Pair with their herb cream cheese for a delicious breakfast. I was very impressed by this local bakery and look forward to coming back here as the downtown area is very cute. read more

I have been here so many times for brunch with my girlies and it's such a cute spot to catch up with them ! The vibes are definitely there yall . So I went yesterday for the first time for lunch and OH MY GOODNESS . I had the greatest pizza I've ever eaten in my entire life . I went absolutely feral for the ranch . I'm obsessed with ranch and this ranch with this pizza . My newest hyper fixation. It was called the couch potato pizza . Our waitress was absolutely amazing . We had everything delivered at a timely matter and was all delicious. 10/10 would recommend to anyone !!! This flaky pastry was exceptionally good! Growing up in a big city I had access to delicious pastries. I do not anymore and I miss it. Luckily every now and again I find a local gem. Go in the middle door for restaurant seating and the door on the far right for take out orders/pastries. Love sitting at the bar as well and seeing them make everything. We finally made it here after years of positive press and rave reviews. However, our first visit here on a Friday lunch hour did not meet the high expectations based upon all that I've heard. It started out great where the hostess was so friendly and quickly seated us for dining. The restaurant is split into dine-in and takeout sides. With the renovation a couple of years ago, from what I was able to glean then, the interior is much brighter and airier and creates a very welcoming environment. However, the acoustics are very poor even with a moderate crowd, drowning out any ability to hear the music that is played through the restaurant's speakers. Our waitress quickly approached, but she did not have the same cheery and warm demeanor as the hostess. She did not give off the vibe that she enjoyed her job. The menu is pretty straightforward, offering both breakfast and lunch options after 11:00 a.m. We ordered the chicken pot pie, smoked salmon bagel, and quiche lorraine. It didn't take long for our food to arrive. With the exception of the smoked salmon bagel, which is hard to go wrong, the food generally was a bit on the saltier side. In fact, we had to send back the quiche lorraine because it not only was overly salty but it tasted sour. Strangely, the waitress didn't immediately offer a replacement or offering a new menu selection. It took her several minutes to return to make the offer, and another five plus minutes until she returned to take my new order despite I had made eye contact with her minutes ago while she was just standing around. I decided to order the basic breakfast sandwich, that came with a fried egg, cheese, and bacon. It was good but I don't know if it was necessarily worth $14. So on that note, menu prices are generally higher than I would want to pay for this very casual styled restaurant. The chicken pot pie is $22, although there was plenty of filling and a nicely prepared flaky crust. The quiche lorraine that I sent back was $12 for a sliver, definitely a very underwhelming portion. I'm pretty sure I will not return for dining in, however, I may give their pastry selections a try. read more

First time at Wingen. It was disappointing that bagels were sold out at 11ish am and mushroom toast, cheesesteaks no longer on the menu. I ordered an open salmon sandwich, mocha and Almond croissant. My mother, pickiest of all pastries as a baker herself, thrusted a Wingen cinnamon twist (?) in my face and demanded I eat the best pastry she's had in a while. It was a day old and she reheated it in the oven, but color me shocked that it tasted freshly baked and delicious! I went to Wingen the next day to check it out for myself :) Egg Sandwich ($13 + extra $1 for hot sauce): Oh how I wish it was bigger. This was heaven on toast. Between toast? Honey Latte ($6): You can taste the honey, and it's not too sweet! I already forgot what pastries I chose to take home; I blacked out at the options and only remembered I loved them lol. It's understandably hectic during brunch time, but I felt taken care of and attended to! I loved the bright lights and cheerful interior. Everything on the menu sounds delicious to be honest. The staff here are so lovely. I've tried both the bakery side as well as the restaurant. Bakery: Latte was delicious. The breakfast sandwich lacked any flavor whatsoever, sadly. First time at Wingen! I stopped by for dinner with some friends on a Saturday. We had a reservation but there were a few open tables and bar seating. It's very cute and cozy. We ordered the mushroom escabeche, winter salad, and potato leek pizza. The escabeche was good though the toast it came with was a bit stale. Winter salad honestly needed more dressing. I couldn't taste any flavor unless eating the goat cheese. The highlight was definitely the pizza! Great flavor and texture. $27 for 6 small slices is steep though. This breakfast place also offers a wide selection of pastries. My party ordered a Vol-au-vent, Avocado Toast, a Cinnamon twist and a cup of cappuccino. Lots of avocado on the toast, but the taste of it is fine. The puff pastry (Vol-au-vent) is a special dish on the menu, but the crust is not crunchy enough. I enjoy the Cinnamon twist the most. The host is helpful and friendly. The servers are not that attentive though. If you want to have breakfast in a kids friendly and comfy place, give this place a try. read more

The wait time is a bit long if you come during prime dinner time, but if you haven't tried the pizza and salad here, I would say that the wait is worth it! We had the best waitress who helped us to decide which pizzas to order, and we got to try three pizzas between the two of us! We took some home and reheated them in our air fryer and the pizzas were just as good once heated up again! The salads are also so good and "buttery" - you're not fighting to chew the greens and also each individual ingredient on there that is including the seasonal ingredient, are so fresh and flavorful! We recently had brunch here, I think I had saved this spot because of the little play kitchen area they have for kids. Fortunately we were sat near it and it helped entertain my kids while we waited for food. We were also given some coloring pages which were made by the restaurant and super cute. The servers were friendly and attentive. I ordered the mushroom toast with an egg which was absolutely delicious. My kids liked their snack plates. My friend got the turkey sandwich. My family and I have been coming here almost once a week for years now. The food is always delicious and the service is friendly. My favorite pastry is the chocolate kouign-amann -- it's crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and chocolatey without being overly sweet. The bagels can't be beat. The French onion bagel as a breakfast sandwich is next level, and don't skip the hot sauce. Our toddler loves dining here as well... a play area, coloring sheets, and his fav -- the cinnamon bun. Wingen hosted a game night, to benefit Roll for Inclusion, which will open its doors soon. Not that we needed an excuse, though. It's a chance to share pictures of menu items other than the pizza we will probably always order. I had a Caesar salad, the wife had another kind of salad, I had cheesecake for dessert, and she had a homemade pop tart, which was actually mislabelled in the menu and wasn't so great. One star off for service. We visited on a Friday evening around 7-7:30 PM--four adults and a 2-year-old. The host at the entrance was extremely sweet and welcoming, which gave us a great first impression... but unfortunately, that changed quickly. We were seated right away, but no one offered or served us water. When our server finally arrived, he seemed more focused on rushing us to order than making us feel comfortable. We started with the Nonna Gnudi and initially mentioned wanting the focaccia but then decided against it--yet it was brought out anyway. Within just a few minutes of being served the appetizer, the server returned to push for our pizza order. He came across as cold and unwelcoming--the rudest server we've encountered in a while. We ordered two mushroom and peach pies. The Nonna Gnudi was exceptional--light, pillowy, and refreshing. There was quite a wait between the appetizer and the pizzas, but the pizza itself was delicious: flavorful toppings with perfectly light sourdough crust. Unfortunately, the service didn't improve. The server came back within 5-10 minutes of serving the pizza to ask if we wanted dessert. We had asked for chili flakes, which he forgot to bring, so we had to ask another (younger) server--who was helpful and brought them right away. To top it off, our server returned quickly to drop off the check and made a comment like, "With a kid, I know it can be difficult, so I thought I'd just wrap things up." The tone felt dismissive and passive-aggressive, not considerate. The food was fantastic, but the service left a lot to be desired. We'd come back for the pizza--but definitely hope for a different server next time. Bakery review : We also ordered a croissant and a tomato cheese Kouign-amann from the pastry counter. Unfortunately, even that experience was underwhelming. The same young server who had helped us earlier took our order, but he mixed it up--we were charged correctly, but instead of the croissant, we received a raisin apricot bar. He also took an unusually long time assisting the customer before us. The wait was so frustrating that, for a moment, we considered just walking out. As for the pastries themselves--they were just okay. Nothing memorable, and certainly not worth the hassle. read more

Was disappointed with my experience at Wingen Bakery. Was there for a special occasion brunch. Asked if the booth was available, which it clearly looked available. Hostess told me it wasn't, but sat the party right after us at that booth. Our party size was the exact same. We didn't complain because it's not worth the trouble. But I will not be returning. Their updated interior is quite nice and has a welcoming ambiance, while retaining the small touches that are an homage to the owners' late daughter. The food as always tastes fresh and the portion sizes are decent. Wow, what a great find. This bakery scratch makes all their baked goods. The sourdough bagels are especially special. We grabbed a dozen for coworkers and they went very fast. The regular and herb cream cheese were good compliments to the bagel selection. I also tried the chocolate croissant and probably one of the best I ever had. There was a generous amount of dark chocolate inside the croissant and a flaky crust. I coupled that with a latte and it made for a wonderful breakfast treat. Their warm breakfast menu doesn't start until 8am and their lunch menu doesn't start until 11 am. Both menus look like excellent offerings. Their loaf breads also look delicious. We came very early and some of the items were still warm. Limited indoor and outdoor seating but it looks like they are in the process of expanding the store. Good service. Casual. Located I believe in downtown Livermore so parking isn't the easiest, but definitely worth looking for a spot. My friend had suggested to meet here for lunch as she loves their sourdough, even took one of their sourdough classes! I didn't have much time to walk around the shop as I had a short timeframe to catch up with my friend, but from a quick glance, this is a really kid friendly spot - some few toys for the kids to play with and even a changing table in the bathroom. Service was good - they acknowledged when we were down and brought out boxes without asking. Ok.... On to the good part - THE FOOD! I only had a chance to try their Chicken Club Sub but first bite and I was in heaven. I LOVE a good fresh sourdough bread so this was up my ally. The bread perfectly Crispy on the outside and soft and bouncy on the inside! The chopped chicken salad was flavorful - chicken was tender, bacon was crispy so it added a nice crunch. The portion was huge! I had half for lunch then the other half for dinner. Can't remember what brand the chips were but those were perfectly crispy! I definitely want to come and grab some pastries and try their other sandwiches! Came in on a friend's recommendation. I was hoping I had arrived early enough to pick up an olive loaf but JUST missed it. Since I was already here I decided to try the country loaf. They sliced it for me, which is nice when that option is available. Their brunch menu that is attached next door looks like it has a tasty menu I'll have to come back for some time. I love coming to this bakery and visit almost every day because the food is always amazing and the atmosphere is usually so nice. Most of the staff are very kind, but I wanted to share something that has made our visits uncomfortable lately. Our only concern has been the way one of the girls working there treats us, and unfortunately this happens almost every time we come in since she is usually always there. She often seems upset, rarely greets us, gives unfriendly looks, and the interactions feel very cold even when we try to be polite and friendly. I even asked once if something was wrong because the vibe felt uncomfortable. We asked if they could add pineapple, and not only did they say yes, but it was fresh pineapple, not the canned stuff. Big win for flavor. The crust deserves its own shoutout: crisp on the outside, chewy inside, and with that perfect wood-fired flavor that makes you want to eat every last bite.
