Since most of the bars on this stretch of Halsted don't serve food- I am always looking for where to go to grab a bite and a beer before settling down into one of my more favorite spots. While Buffalo Wings and Rings might be a little sterile for the neighborhood (lacks the charm of so many of the bars along this way) they do serve up some okay food in a sports bar environment. We were seated by the hostess (first surprise as I thought I would just plop myself down somewhere) and were handed the menu and told about that day's specials. We started with two GIANT beers that were also on special that night for only $3.50. I could barely lift the thing! Definitely a two handed mug! The menu reads like a regular sports bar menu- appetizers like potato skins, nachos, fried cheese, etc. They specialize in wings with at least 7 different types of sauces that you can choose from (original, garlic, teriaki, BBQ, just to name a few) and at least 5 varying levels of heat for those sauces. There are also the standards like burgers, sandwiches, gyros and salads. We tried a little of this and that. The wings were meaty and the original sauce that we chose (at the hot level) was pretty typical for wings you get other places. We also tried the special of the night and the chicken tenders were actually bigger than we thought they'd be, meaty and pretty good with the teriaki sauce and the BBQ sauce. I tried a burger and other than it was done more well than I would have liked (they cook everything to medium well) it was good. The hit of the night for me? Curly fries with chili and cheese. Now what's not to like about that? We also learned that they have take out so we could actually have our wings in one of the other bars along this way that have a little more history and charm. But don't ask for delivery. They don't do it. Service was spotty. Our server disappeared for long moments of time although it appeared he was busing tables too. And another observation? It seemed a little too light in the place to be a bar and a little too dark to be a "family restaurant"- more like it was stuck in the middle somewhere. Oh well. Our tummies were full, there were leftovers for another day and we were headed up the street to Bernice's to watch open mike night which was why we were down that way anyway. Given the choices in the area- I'm sure I'll be back to try some more of those tasty sauces. read more

A year ago I would given this place 5-stars but they just seem to falling off. -boneless wings are starting to have a lot of hard parts to them -sauces (lemon pepper) has become over powering.. the black pepper -they're charging for RANCH now, 50cents Don't get me wrong I've always had good service but the quality of the wings are beginning to fall off. & this is coming from someone who's been coming almost once every 2 weeks. This is one of the hubby's and I fav local spots. We ordered carryout for dinner from BW&R. Twenty boneless wings, fried pickles and a side of parmesan fries for dinner. I live right near here now so I checked it out, sadly I was let down, first off it took forever to get our food, almost an hour and it wasn't even that busy, I got boneless wings which were kinda dry and not crispy, the coleslaw was bad, iT was bland and tasted like no other coleslaw i had had before, my dad got the burger which he didn't like either, it had a pretty good beer selection which I'll give credit for, and my brother enjoyed his wrap, maybe it was just a bad day so I won't totally write them off yet, but it wasn't a good first impression read more

Well, it was a Sunday afternoon and the place was pretty empty, which probably was why I liked it here. I can imagine this place being filled with boozed-up sports fanatics yelling at the games on the many many screens lining the walls in spaces that aren't covered with sports memorabilia or posters advertising the goings-on at the location or the alcoholic drinks being served. I probably should've had a beer, but at that point in the day, I needed a soda. One with free refills, which this location thankfully has. That's one of the points of contention that can separate a mediocre restaurant from a great one for me: are the drinks free refills? They are, and they were quite large as well, which meant fewer needs to refill, which were gladly offered at precisely the right time. As for the food, I went with the Boneless Wings Basket. I wasn't too thrilled at the $10 price tag, but when I got my 5 wings (I went with Original style and Hot spiciness, one combination out of 45 available choices) and the basket of onion rings and the basket of curly fries, I knew that I was at least going to attempt to get my money's worth. And the rest could be boxed, if need be. The wings were tasty. They were served in a bowl, as they should be, with the extra sauce still at the bottom for a full re-coating in-between bites, with enough left over for dipping my rings of the onion and potato varieties. I liked the flavor, and while the wings and fries were nothing worth writing home about, there was nothing bad about them at all - and enhancing them with extra wing sauce made up for any mediocrity. Lastly was the entertainment. I was mesmerized by the selection of screens displaying "Lunchtime Trivia", where it seemed like people were playing in the restaurant answering trivia questions. I only wish I had spoken up about it sooner, because they would have given me a remote to join in and play. I will definitely ask to participate next time. The waitress Nicole told me that they even used to have weekly tournaments and such, but not enough people were interested in playing. I LOVE trivia games!! The next time I come back will likely be on a Wednesday night, because on Wednesdays they have a special of 49-cent boneless wings (Tuesdays are 49-cent regular wings) and at 10pm is supposedly Karaoke!! I need more karaoke outlets available to me, and this place is well within walking distance. My only issue is that a bar at 10pm on a Wednesday will in no way lead to a productive or sane Thursday morning at work. I was convinced to come here and meet up friends ! This place is so dirty and disgusting !!! The waitress brought me out nachos with very burnt tortilla chips. I asked her this is not edible , she got the manager and he said this is how it's supposed to look , I said would you eat this , he said NO! Really ? Unfortunately I can no longer give BWR a high rating for wings. The last few times I've gone the wings have been extremely small. I'm talking micro-wings. A $20 batch of 15 do not even fill me up, and I'm not a big guy by any stretch. Sadly, it seems that this place is going the way of Buffalo Wild Wings in that their popularity allows them to take shortcuts and give less while charging more. The only thing preventing me from giving this restaurant a 1 star were the very nice manager and server. To start the experience both of the hostess' were very rude and cold, they were unclear about the covid-19 policies, ignored me several times, and even asked me to wait in my car because of coronavirus while they allowed other parties to wait in the lobby to be seated. Though, despite being a very friendly server; the server was incredibly inexperienced, unknowledgeable, and very slow. We were served several drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) that were all very bad. The food took 30 Minutes to come out and that's during a pandemic at a limited capacity, I'd be afraid to see the wait during normal circumstances. Once I finally got my food, neither the appetizer nor the entree were good. I got an appetizer platter and certain items were piping hot and others were cold; also my ranch/mayo were bubbling in the cup which is a first for me so I did not use any sauce. I got my wings split half and half, again, one half was cold and the other was hot. Another pain point was that my server forced me to select a heat temperature in addition to my wing sauce so that I couldn't get straight BBQ. My wings tasted like straight hot wings, this concept makes 0 sense to me. The generosity of the manager and the kindness of our waiter made this bearable but, given the rude hostess', the bad drinks, bad food, long wait times, and poor service, makes this location one of the worst food experiences I've had in Chicago. I did meet some nice employees, largely there is just a training gap but; everything else needs some help. This was my first time visiting and at this stage, I would not go back. For Sunday lunch we decided to give this place a try. I felt as if they didn't have a variety of flavors. We had the peach habanero and buffalo. You get to choose you level of spiciness and I chose medium which felt like it had no spicy whatsoever. They flavor was just ok. My husband had the buffalo chicken burger which was huge. The flavor was blah. What we did liked was our sampler which we chose mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and pretzel bites. All 3 were really good. For my little one we chose the fried chicken tenders. It's been about 3 or 4 years maybe since I've been here. I used to go to school down the street from this place and it was better back then (8 years ago). My friend and I waited a while for our food to come and it wasn't hot. We had to remind the waiter about condiments or water, etc. which was disconcerting but he was nice otherwise. Have been frequenting this establishment lately, and I quite enjoy the food not to mention the prices aren't half bad. But the server that I have had the past 2 times now has got to be one of the least hygienic people I have even encountered. His name is Nevin and his body odor was awful each time I have had him serving me and his finger nails had a lot of dirt and grime underneath them which leads me to believe he isn't washing anywhere near frequently enough to be handling food. I will continue to dine at this restaurant but if the server I spoke of is working I will absolutely be requesting someone else to be handling my food. BWR is one of my favorite places to go for wings when I want a beer. Good place to go and watch a game or have a drink. Wings are good but not the bestttt. I would go back because it's a nice and chill environment. Service is OK. it could be better if the waiter came around a little more . I've never had to wait for a table. Upon arriving at this bulls*** restaurant I got there told the hostess (white girl with the pixie haircut) I was there for an order for an Uber Eats customer. I then asked if I can use the women's restroom. She pointed where it was and told me the order was being worked on. I said that's cool I'll wait. After using the restroom I then sat at the seat next to the the front entrance. Which was about 10 minutes after I arrived, I then sat there for 20 minutes. The hostess looked at me and said hey they are still working on it. All these people coming in and out retrieving orders and being seated. It was about another 15 minutes I've waited. By now I'm pissed because if you know anything about Uber Eats we get paid 9 cents a minute to wait for an order and we are only supposed to wait 10-15 minutes for an order or we are supposed to cancel it and someone else can pick it up. So I looked at the time realized 40+ minutes had went by and now I'm furious because this employee keeps telling me that this same order is being worked on. Now I overhear her saying something to the manager about how she can't find a ticket. I then said I'm sorry but I've been waiting for this order for a long time like what is going on and now the hostess is saying she can't find the ticket for the order basically saying they don't have the order and they can't give me nothing unless they have it. I was so pissed I told them they don't know what they are doing and left out. I sat in my car called Uber Support told them the situation and they called the restaurant now I was on hold for about 15 minutes while they were dealing with that and then the Uber Support rep apologized and told me that NOW THEY HAVE THE ORDER and I can go back in the restaurant and retrieve it. By now it's been an hour I've been there. I go in get the order there's 2 females at the counter and I tell them the order name and say "wow 1 hour later" sarcastically laughed and was on my way walking out the door. My hand and leg was out the door when another employee walked up and said out her mouth "Excuse me do you have a problem or something" I thought to myself these people have to be joking. I responded Yes! Yes I do have a problem I have a problem that you all do not know how to do your job! She started getting aggressive and I specifically responded with fighting words. Quite frankly, I have no idea why the restaurant got this high vote with this such quality of the food, which are lack of flavor, small, and under well-cooked wings. The fries were nothing special to remember, while the rings, which is supposed to be tasty here to deserve the fame it is bearing, were bland. The only good thing here, which is better than some wing chains, is the creamy tasting and famous Bleu Cheese dipping sauce. I can't believe this place is rated so well? I ordered 5 traditional medium buffalo wings and 5 lemon pepper and they were so disgusting. I think they're microwaveable? You can see the chickens pores and the skin is so rubbery it's so nasty. It literally looks, feels, and tastes like the chicken was microwaved and then hot sauce was poured on it. I've seen a few reviews that say "This place reminds me of buffalo wild wings", menu wise yes, taste/flavor wise NOT EVEN CLOSE. It would be an insult to BW3. I was here twice over 30 days and both times the wings stunk. A bit dry and the sauce was eh. Both times the service was slow with one of the times kinda busy during a Bulls game. When I was there about a week and 1/2 ago after a Sox/Cubs game, it was a little empty the service blew. I wanted to close out a bill and was questioned by the waitress. The atmosphere & setting is just like Buffalo Wild Wings; plenty of TV and tables and of course, drink selections. My friends and I ordered the crowd control, 4 appetizers and 75 wings. (Feeds to 10-15 ppl) The appetizer: buffalo chicken nachos, mozzarella sticks, and Parmesan garlic fries were on point! I went to watch the Michigan Ohio State game and at first they told us they only played Chicago games, whatever that means. They did eventually get the game on the tv closest to us but at halftime they changed it. We asked them to change it back and they refused. What's the point of a sports bar that refuses to show one of the biggest rivalry games? The server did a good job though despite having a ton of tables. The day I went it was late. I expected more people to be in but not many were there. The bathroom need alot of fixing( most light were not working) looks creepy. The food was okay. Super disappointed! I have been a loyal customer for YEARS. I remember when the restaurant used to be jammed packed with a 20 min wait. Now.....the restaurant is half empty with a wait because of how under staffed they are. The kitchen....IS TRASH!!!!! I've noticed it the past couple times I've been here, hoping they would bounce back, but this time was it. Our dip was so extremely thick the chip would break every time. We switched it for another and the next one had so much oil in it we left half. Our beers weren't even served in chilled glasses. But let's talk about the wings. First they brought out our order wrong. Secondly, half of them didn't even have the full meat on them and the ones that did were extremely over cooked. We got our check and noticed we were about to be charged more because of the server's mistake with our wings but I caught it in time for her to change it. All right - I just had the garlic parm boneless wings because I didn't want to get all sticky. They were pretty damn good coupled with the giant $5 Blue Moon's on tap. Good and interesting combos of sauces make this a good change from BWW. While I love me a good BWW, Wings and Rings does a good job with their boneless and classic wings, but the side items are ok (onion rings could be better, but I like!). What is actually a big hit for me is the dessert egg rolls. YUM! read more

UPDATE: so the manager Justin did contact me and was very nice. Offered to make it better however I haven't heard from him since the December post. Man this place keeps getting worst and worst. Today Sunday we were a party of 13. My family and I are regulars. Today's service was awful. The waitress was in a funk. I can totally understand it must be frustrating dealing with customers but that is your job. And just because your previous ones werent great you can't raje it out on your next. It took awhile to get our drinks, which was odd cause the bar wasn't busy. I saw the beers we ordered sit there for for a few mins until I reminded the server were still missing our beers. Next we ordered and got our food fairly quick. But during dinner we rarely saw our server, we had to constantly ask for her to order more drinks. We ordered dessert and waited a good 25 mins for it and during all that time she never showed up to let us know what was the hold up nor to asked if we needed anything more. In the end we canceled the desserts, the manager showed up and just apologized for the kitchen being a chaos and left. Definitely they need to get there act together. read more

Don't waste your time here. Got here around 9 got into a 45 min wait list. Around 10:30, a waitress came out and said they're not taking anyone else because their kitchen was backed up and were about to close. It wasn't even upon closing time. This is my second time coming and the same thing happened. If there was negative zero rating, I would. At this point they should know when to stop putting people on their waitlist. For the past 2 years, I've always passed this place up, thinking the worst after hearing/reading reviews saying their food ain't much to talk about. Talking about how Wingstop/BWW is much better and whatnot. I put all of those opinions to the side when a coworker took me out to lunch one day after a long undeserving shift. Wow, I thought when I first walked in, this restaurant is pretty big. Nice and empty too just how I like it (Sunday afternoon). Service was very friendly; always nice to have someone who knows how to talk to people and can crack a few jokes to make me smile. $4 Mimosas on Sundays which really hit the spot. Definitely a deal you cannot pass up on. I had 10 traditional wings with buffalo sauce and some dry Cajun seasoning. Buffalo was superior to Cajun in this case. The buffalo sauce was just too rich and a bit buttery too which made the wings itself taste all the more better. Cajun was good although I wasn't able to taste much of the seasoning. Fries are also amazing. Wings and Rings seems like an awesome place to catch some sports. I can imagine it gets busy on certain nights with big games, but with the amount of people the restaurant can hold, it shouldn't be a problem to find a place to sit and chill. This place is awesome. I coordinated a group lunch here for my student-organization that was in town, and the owner (Justin) did a fantastic job in accommodating our group of 50 people. Whether it was his communication in the weeks beforehand or the fact that he coned off a spot along the street for our bus to park, Justin was 100% class. Not to mention, the food was amazing and very reasonably priced. While I'm not from the Chicago area to go here enough, I would still strongly encourage anyone with either a large group or a small one to consider Buffalo Wings & Rings!
