Very disappointed. Ordered the beet hummus and vegetables to start, and was disappointed by stale vegetables that looked like they came from Costco, carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli and a few pieces of burnt baguette. No seasonal vegetables whatsoever, which is apparently the draw of this place. I also ordered the CSA Hash, and my mom ordered eggs, potatoes and bacon. Both of our eggs came out dry and brown, they looked like they had been sitting in a pan for hours and were completely inedible. My hash consisted of broccoli stems, carrots, potatoes, cabbage, and huge pieces of raw kale (some with the tough ribs intact) that were not dressed or seasoned at all. My moms bacon was burnt, not crispy and delicious. To top it all off, we ordered coffee and the metal cream pitcher had caked dried milk stuck in the corners that could have been in there for god knows how long. I hate to write this place such a terrible review. The service when you walk in is probably some of the best in the city, and the idea behind this place truly is a great one. I have had a few bad experiences here in the past and always want to give it another chance, but this is the last straw. I will never be back here again. One of the worst meals of my life. read more

I have been enjoying Wise Acre Eatery since they opened. I enjoy the creative dishes and the seasonal menus. It is a great spot to meet up with friends and enjoy a glass of wine and some delicious food that leaves us feeling great when we leave. The complimentary popcorn with various seasonings and flavors is a fun way to start off the meal. Service is always wonderful and very knowledgeable staff. They take dinner reservations and I recommend making one, especially if heading there on a weekend night. The space is small, but extremely comfortable, warm and welcoming. The patio is open during the warm months of the year and is a great spot for a relaxing meal if you are from the area and are used to overhead plane noise. I personally am so conditioned to it and therefore, don't even notice it, but have had family comment on it. read more

A true Farm to Plate establishment! Dined there for lunch and had a great experience. They have a small lunch menu, but with diverse options under the big 3 (Salads, Burgers and Sandwiches). I had the Brie/Bacon Burger and couldn't have been happier, I also highly recommend getting the fries (x$), but they are some of the best tasting fries I have had. went here for brunch with a friend this weekend and we each got the CSA Hash. We kept marveling how delicious the scrambled eggs on top were. I mean, they were just EGGS for pete's sake, but maybe they got them from the happy chickens on the farm that supplies the food for the restaurant. The place is adorable. Love the concept. Our server wasn't very friendly and never asked us for another beverage refill. I would have gladly ordered another breakfast cocktail or two! The chicken sandwich was pretty dry. It was brunch so I asked if I could get egg and she responded by saying "there's already egg in the bun." ?? When it came, was definitely not anything different than a standard bun. I ordered the cornbread on the side which wasn't anything special either. The bacon.... TO DIE FOR. I don't think I'd eat here again...portions are small, service is slow, and I couldn't help but feel the host resented having to deal with every customer who came through the door. This is the second time I've eaten at this restaurant and the best thing about it is their lattes and the fact that every they make is prepared with local ingredients. We went for breakfast. The food was nice enough but we thought it was pretty simple and the menu was small. I think they only had one style of eggs. The coffee and sweet treats were very good. This place is super cute! The food is quite good and there is a small parking lot in front of the place. Apparently this is the only restaurant in MN owned by a farm which is awesome! Most of the ingredients are grown locally on a farm in MN which is awesome and you can taste the quality of the ingredients. The gnocchi I had was a little bland and I tried some chicken which was overdone. However, the food was still pretty good and the dessert was simple but nice- squash with vanilla ice cream and candied nuts. The service was good and the place was busy. read more

Great urban location in SW MPLS. It's a nice spot to get lunch after a visit to the Russian museum. The French toast was killer as was their cocktail selection. The vegetarian hash was a great idea, but the extra crisp (not quite fully cooked) veggies made it less than stellar. The farm made sausage was dense, not fatty, and tasty. We went on a warm day and sat outside. This is not a bucolic location so expect to see/feel/smell the city. We don't mind that at all and the outside seating was very enjoyable. read more

Since somebody removed this review (I'm guessing an employee of Wise Acre), I decided to repost it, as this was a genuine experience and not a plot to destroy their business. Not great... My husband and I took our son there for lunch. It's in our neighborhood and we've been meaning to try it. I didn't really have expectations but it wouldn't have met any I would have had. The wait staff is indifferent, at best, which was hard to bear, since we are both servers in the neighborhood and would never treat guests the way we were treated. Our server approached our table, without menu's, and asked if we wanted something to drink. Once we got menu's, we saw that this "kid friendly" place offers only a couple of $9 options, with sides limited to a salad ( for a child) or carrot sticks..? We ordered the daily special Meatloaf sandwich ( a paper thin slice of meatloaf with some kind of burre blanc gravy, on a piece of wheat Wonder bread for $12) and a meatball sized hamburger with a 7in piece of bacon on it ($14!!) When the sloppy waiter dropped off our food, he offered nothing but his big belly hanging over our table. He said nothing, dropped off our plates, and walked away. The food wasn't great, with my 3 pieces of steamed broccoli and scoop of mashed potatoes to accompany my "sandwich." The "catsup" tasted like Heinz original marinated in Worcestershire sauce, and the hamburger came with some form of an American Kim-Chee ( carrots, cabbage, and wild rice in a vinegar.) $40 later, we left hungry, and taken from. So..the wait times are certainly a problem. We went for brunch and many tables where open. However, it took over 7 mins to be seated. Why? The person that was hosting was also serving tables and making all the drinks. This is a bad idea. I actually thought she forgot about us. The food is as always delicious I love the CSA hash! However, the wait for drinks was again more than 10 mins for a cold press and hot green tea. My suggestion is that the hostess should host, make drinks and perhaps only bus tables instead of still being an actual server. read more

Small, Select Menu Doesn't Disappoint The menu is carefully curated based on what is fresh and available. I dined here recently with family members and we went away full and happy. From the moment you enter you're senses will be treated to many delectable smells. I had the half chicken which came with fingerling potatoes and garlicky greens. It was very satisfying. Others at the table had the slow cooked beef that was served with potatoes and a variety of root vegetables. For dessert I had the bread pudding which was the highlight of the meal for me. The wine menu was a bit more limited than I thought it should be, but it is a small place. We ended up at the table near the rest rooms and that was a minus, but it was the only available table, so we didn't have a choice. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

so popular and based on our visit i have no idea why. good fries and beet ketchup, good but high priced beer and very expensive wine. despite our conversation with the server about "it needn't all arrive together" the fries had obviously waited for the rest to be ready (just warm) and it was quite a wait for the food. obviously organic greens (cute and very animated inchworm was removed from one salad..we were just happy we didn't eat him or her) were large and a bit hard to wrangle and there was little else in the salad aside from a thick slab of pretty good bacon. oh and a blue cheese VINEGARette (cheese totally eclipsed by acid). pleasant enough service, baby loved the cornbread, decent burger,but basically a quite overpriced disappointment...stars for lovely garden! read more

I really like Wise Acre because they are one of the only farm to table restaurants in Minneapolis. The service is pretty good, but sometimes you have to wait a while for a table (usually on the weekends for brunch). I love their CSA Hash and their homemade frozen custard. They do take dinner reservations, so if you want to check it out for dinner then you should definitely make reservations. read more

How do you choose what to order when it all sounds scrumptious? I settled on the sweet corn, purple potato and bacon chowder with Chicken and herb salad sandwich and was not disappointed. Great flavor and portions. I am willing to pay a little extra for farm fresh and local if it tastes like this. I was craving sweets (when don't I?) so I told our waitress to surprise me with a cookie and she returned with a rhubarb lemon ginger cookie. It was just as pleasing as the meal. read more

Made a reservation for 7. Arrived at 6:45 and ended up waiting until 7:25. Not sure what happened but that was a bit frustrating. We did enjoy our server. She was a kind more seasoned lady. The place is a bit pricey but the food is flavorful and quite tasty. read more

I am a little disappointed with the service that I received today. I tried to get the attention of anyone that was working multiple times, but no one would come around or even look. Rather, my waitress was on her laptop at the bar, one wait staff kept talking with her, one host was eating ice cream and walking around, and other host busy bussing the tables. Really wanted to like this place as I am a fan of locally sourced ingredients. Apparently they have their own farm in Plato, MN and much of their produce and dairy come from the farm. The place used to be a garage and has a cozy, funky interior which might be a little overdone but is attractive and comfortable nonetheless. If only they put as much effort into the food... I went with 2 friends for breakfast on a weekday. I ordered the CSA hash & my friends ordered the standard 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast thing. Eggs were delicious- perfectly scrambled, tender and rich. Potatoes were undercooked, dry and flavorless. My friends said the bacon was good but it's hard not to mess up bacon. My hash was tasty if not bland. It normally comes with some sort of bacon aioli but as a vegetarian I asked for it to be left off. We asked for some ketchup with our potatoes and were served their housemade version of ketchup which is made from pumpkin & cranberries. All I tasted was ginger. Disgusting and a real travesty to call it ketchup. Now we come to the toast- served dry with no butter on the side. I really do not understand this. Who the hell eats dry toast? When we asked for butter (and why should we have to ask?), it came out chilled & hard as a rock. I don't know what they were thinking. Have they ever tried to butter lukewarm toast (because by now it is lukewarm) with hard butter? This happened to me recently at another breakfast establishment and for me it is a fatal flaw. Fatal. This is probably one of our favorite neighborhood spots. We come here often and are never disappointed. The staff is friendly, the ambiance is top notch, portion sizes are great and the food is incredible! The only complaint I have ever had was that their credit card system doesn't seem well equipped for splitting the bill among large groups. I ended up paying our whole group's tab and having to have my friend's pay me for their meals.... a small price to pay for the wonderful experience. read more

I went here at least 2 years ago, and should come back soon. The place was very popular, but I can see why. The food is very good! I ordered a lamb stew, which I think also had squash or some root vegetable, along with an orange soda. The small portion was rather filling, either because I wasn't that hungry, or it was more substantial than I thought! They don't season the plates that much, but one can add more salt if one chooses. The whole menu seemed pretty good, and I should go when I'm more in the mood to try the deserts. People talk about prices and portions, but so many expect a lot of food at a low price, and that's not going to happen at a place which focuses on farm sustainable food. My husband and I came here for lunch on a Thursday. We shared the Brie burger with fries and a chicken salad. Both meals were good and tasted fresh. The only downside was the outside atmosphere. The restaurant is located across the road from a fire station and directly under a flight path for the MSP airport. It was a little noisy! read more

Tried it for first time last night. Interesting to see how they had transformed the decor from prior tenant, Liberty Custard. Layout very squarish, a bit crowded and noisy. Funky bar. Interesting menu entries. Split the "hoop and coop" salad and butternut squash "steak" with my companion. Presentation a 4.5, taste a 3 to 4. A little disappointing.
