Let me just say my sister and I had the most horrible experience with the lady at Wok In Kitchen. Upon arrival, my sister asked the lady for a minute with our orders, so we knew what we wanted to say before we ordered. The lady then looked at us with the blank face and proceeded to the back with the cooks. Which is not a big deal however, as she comes out to ask us if we're ready to order she has just a horrible tone. As someone who works in customer service, the server did not have any good traits whatsoever. As I continue to let her know my order, she does it completely wrong and the complete opposite of what I asked. At that point I was already upset about my food and now I'm a little bit more irritated that I have to pay for something I didn't ask for. I was with my sister and didn't want to create a scene or ask the server to remake my food because I didn't want her to waste it. But, in all reality, if I'm paying for some things, it should be what I asked for. The food was mid, and the customer service was terrible. They did not have Boba. The food trays are significantly smaller than most Chinese food places. The cream cheese wonton were basically just wonton. VERY little (almost no) cream cheese. The fried rice was not fried all the way and was super soft. Crispy chicken was tasty so I'm giving two stars. read more

I don't know how this place got anything higher than 2 stars. Maybe they just had a bad day but my experience wasn't to great. Service was good but that's about it. Beef and broccoli with 2 small pieces of beef and a ton of under seasoned broccoli. Broccoli is the best part but when it's drenched in broth and crunchy. Fried rice was slightly above average. Only because of the stickiness. Sounds odd but it's not mushy. It clumps which easier to eat with chopsticks and I like the texture. Taste was like any other basic fried rice which is just fine. So slightly better than most. Orange chicken was mushy and not butchered right. Mine still had cartilage. Gross.... Purchased a fountain drink. Ice tea (my fave out of order) then decided on lemonade. Turns out it's just water. Lemonade is out. Went back to get soda since I paid for a drink and water is free. Decide on half orange and half sprite...... guess what?? Sprite has No syrup! So I drank through my watered down orange soda... I give up. read more

I have been going to Wok In Kitchen for years (even before the pandemic of March 2020) whenever me and my brother come to Riverside. I first learned of it when I just happened to look to my left on Arlington and Madison while waiting for a bus at the bus stop near a doctor's office. I was intrigued to see a Chinese restaurant nearby but could not go there because I was waiting for a bus. When I went home, I did a search on the internet to see if there were any reviews. I was so surprise to see (looks like a Mexican family) had posted pictures from their visit at the restaurant. The gentleman was raving how great the Chinese food was and highly recommended it. So, the next time me and my brother were out in the Arlington Street area, I told him about the Wok In Kitchen in the Big Lots shopping center. When we went in there, we were greeted by the owner (a lady). She kindly took our order. The fried rice and lo mein looked great. We each asked for it for our take out tray (we wound up eating inside the restaurant afterwards). I went for their House Special Chicken with potatoes and beans--the best!! My brother went for the Kung Pao Chicken. We had enough food to eat that we saved the rest as leftovers to take home. We have been coming to Wok In Kitchen like every 2-3 months when we visit Riverside. We always order their fried rice and lo mein. We would add Broccoli Beef, Teriyaki Chicken, Shrimp Chow Mein (as an extra). But, my favorite is their House Special Chicken, which I always order. Sometimes I would order extra fried rice and lo mein to take home. Just to let you know, whenever I go to a Chinese restaurant, make sure the lo mein noodles are eaten during the same day. Sometimes lo mein noodles do not taste good a day later (and that is with any Chinese restaurant). So, I always try to make sure I finish all the lo mein noodles within a day. I give the Wok In Kitchen 5 stars as we have always been so pleased with the food and service. This is probably the best Chinese take-out restaurant in Riverside. read more

First of all the lady rushed to take our order just so she can go sit at the table on her phone to watch videos , never wasting my money there again , I'd rather go to the liquor store . . Literally have to pay for sauce and Fortune cookies also eating inside you'd expect free refills but no you have to pay for that too. I thought the name of this place was very clever and I after reading the pleasant reviews on yelp, I had to check it out. Nice portions for a good price. I would recommend if you're in the mood for Chinese. Fried rice and chow mein were yummy, but I wasn't a big fan of the hot and sour soup. My dad did enjoy the orange chicken. (I didn't try it.) They didn't have any shrimp or vegetable items available for the combos, but they did offer spicy shrimp for around $3.50. Very clean place and good costumer service. read more

I saw that they were open again, but now it sounds like they are not serving as much food as they use to and that they are skimpy with meat. New owner? Love this place for a fast delicious fresh lunch! Customer service is always wonderful. It's always busy enough the cook is kept busy cooking fresh entrees. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time, I usually go to another place nearby my home, but decided to try this place and it was disappointing. Closed at 830pm I arrived at 7pm, so I know I wasn't there 5 minutes before closing or anything like a jerk. Anyways got chow mein which was decent and same for the orange chicken, however the mushroom chicken was not good very cold, and the rice was super mushy like it had been sitting there for along time. Don't get me started on the cream cheese wontons which were cold and 2 of the 4 had no filling. Clearly this is going to be a bit of a difficult review for some of my "Foodie Friends" who rate "The Wok In Kitchen" so highly (5-STARS), to understand... and I'm sorry if you disagree, but please consider the following. Thank You. VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY.. increasingly with Chinese Restaurants we see "Buffet Style" Trays of food sitting out ready to serve from. The time, or how long the food has been sitting in the trays is one huge problem, but my primary gripe here at "The Wok In Kitchen Chinese Restaurant" is the TINY AMOUNT OF EACH ENTREE YOU ARE ACTUALLY SERVED! IT'S BASICALLY NOTHING; maybe 1-Quarter of a cup of food guys! AMAZING PROFIT STRUCTURE... in serving 1-Quarter Cup Sized Entrees of breaded, deep fried chicken bits the "The Wok In Kitchen" makes an incredible profit! You order a 3 Item Combo Lunch/Dinner and receive 2-Cups of Rice; a monster serving of noodles, and not much else. The Entrees you order are served on top of all the rice and noodles... so you just paid $7.00 Plus for hardly anything for your dining dollar! IT'S ONE BIG "CHINESE" RIP OFF... but at least they are left smiling! OK; HOW WAS THE FOOD WE WERE SERVED? A very good question! We found the Food Served by "The Wok In Kitchen" to be good... nothing special, but freshly made and edible. It is definitely not anything to drive out of your way to order. SEMI-COOKED TO ORDER... of what we were served at "The Wok In Kitchen," we were impressed by the "Freshness" of what were obviously just cut vegetables and crispness of the breaded chicken... Also "The Wok In Kitchen's" sauces seemed freshly made; they were not all "gloppy or congealed" at the bottom of the serving trays as if the trays were recycled or set for long periods of time... and the entrees were flavorful. SPICY ORANGE CHICKEN... served in a tray right next to the more traditional "Chinese Orange Chicken" was by far our favorite entree. We also ordered a Mushroom/Vegetables with Chicken Entree and "The Wok In Kitchen's" very traditional (boringly bland) "Sweet and Sour Chicken." The Sweet and Sour Chicken was served in a tiny little "Take-Out" Box that held less than 1-Quarter Cup of food... Of which we received 6 (mostly fried breading) pieces of deep fried chicken and a bit of vegetables (mostly carrots) and sauce. We were (as already stated) very disappointed in the serving sizes! PLEASANT CUSTOMER SERVICE.. and a VERY CLEAN RESTAURANT. A Clean Chinese Restaurant can be hard to find, in as much as many seem to have greasy counter tops and accumulated build ups of cooking oils everywhere. Many also smell like dead cooking oils.. Not a good thing! We found "The Wok In Kitchen" to be exceptionally clean.. with nothing but the smells of freshly prepared food. Tried this place for the first time because it had really good reviews. Let me just say it was one of the best Chinese food places I've had. From price to flavor. All the choices looked so good. I went with my favorite kung pao chicken which was good, and for the first time tried the spicy chicken which I fell in love with! And their broccoli beef my daughter loved too. Their prices were really good, paid 10.xx for 3 combo meal, med soda and 3 wontons. I will definitely come back ! The best word I can use to describe the food is, "Eh." It wasn't bad but it wasn't the best either. The chow mein was lackluster. It didn't have much flavor. I got the spicy orange chicken and the sweet and sour chicken. The spicy orange chicken wasn't spicy. It was a bit sweet. I would get a random bite with spiciness but I think it's because I would bite into the actual pepper. The sweet and sour chicken was soggy. The flavor again was OK. Now, I am a bit of a cow and I like big portions, so the first thing I noticed was their servings aren't as big as other hole in the wall Chinese food places. I could have spent the same amount and had more food that tastes better. The only upside is that they do accept cards but it's only with a $10 minimum. Great food and great service! My husband likes REALLY spicy food, and they didn't disappoint. The spicy chicken looks insane. Lots of jalapeños and it's dripping with chili sauce. They also have spicy orange chicken, too. I prefer mild to medium flavors. My favorites so far are the orange chicken, teriyaki chicken, and the sweet and sour pork, yum! We love good hot and sour soup. Our favorite comes from Yang Chow all the way in Pasadena or Downtown LA. But when you're sick or it's a weeknight, that's not a possibility. We've tried all the hot and sour soup options in the area and are continually disappointed. But Wok In has fantastic hot and sour soup.
