I have been wanting to try Wok N Rolls for a while now, since Mammoth doesn't have any reasonable Chinese food. I was pleasantly surprised eating here. The prices were better than expected with the lunch special. The place is ran by a hispanics, complete with Corona bottle poster in the kitchen. The food was pretty good, although not the best or most authentic Chinese food ive had, but way better than the other Chinese place in town. I came to this place because like every other Chinese or Asian restraint is closed around here. But when I came in I was kindly greeted and they were really nice too. But when the food came up it was decent. The noodle taste like instant noodle so if you like instant noodle then you would like this place. Also the rice is really bad to the quality is crap and the rice is so mushy. But the chicken is pretty good and the beef too. There are still good things about the place because the room is so clean and again the costumer service so good. If the costumer service was also bad I would give it a 0 star. The chopsticcks, defective. The service, disagreeable, second, the food alright, not amazing. The fortune cookies, had mold on them. I don't know what all the bad reviews are about! The food was great! The service was great! The restroom was very clean! The ambiance was also very nice. The prices were normal compared to other Asian food restaurants from LA. Not to mention the was a free shuttle that dropped me of right across the street so I don't know what else they could have done. I personally thought I got my monies worth. I saw other reviews commenting on the fact the it wasn't run by Chinese ppl or Asians which to me is irrelevant if the food is great. Veggie dinner choices in Mammoth are few and far between. Vegan is even more difficult. We really wanted one more option. Now we have one. We've only been here once, but really love it. The service was great: it really felt like small town America. A family run operation, when we told our waitress to compliment the chef, she said, "I will. He's my dad." We had the veggie spring rolls, tofu and veggie fried rice, and broccoli garlic. The spring rolls were fresh, tasty, and an interesting shape--as long as a cigar. The broccoli garlic was solid. The biggest surprise? The veggie and tofu friend rice. It came in two separate dishes. One dish was just the seasoned, fried rice. The other included the veggies and well-prepared tofu. It was a solid meal: more substantial than any fried rice dish we'd had, it was the best friend dish we'd ever had. The most expensive entree we had (just over $10), we'll definitely get it again. All in, our bill (no drinks) was only $28. read more

I really don't understand all the negative reviews. I will say, they deterred me for a bit from trying this restaurant, but my craving for Cashew Chicken finally got the better ofe so today I gave it a try. The restaurant is clean, decorated nicely, and the employees I encountered were all friendly. This was a bit of an interesting place... It was pretty empty on the day I was there (summer time isn't super huge in Mammoth I guess). I was seated by the window, which illuminated the interior decor well. It's kind of a cutesie place, with oriental decoration. The first thing that threw me off was the beer menu didn't match what they had available. I had to squint to see the beers shown on the far wall to figure out what was available, but I liked that they had some Asian beers. I had the cashew chicken, which was decent. It came with a dish of coleslaw salad, which was... interesting. I actually liked it, the vinegar-based dressing was a nice change from the common American mayo-base. Service was so-so. There was only one other table occupied, so I figured I would get some more attention, but it wasn't terrible. If I was in the mood for Chinese food here, I would probably come back. read more

Wow, NO reviews for this place? Well, I guess I'll be the first then. We had a soccer game in Mammoth over the weekend, and afterwards we needed to find some grub before heading home. I was actually looking for another business when I stumbled upon this place. We decided to give it a try and well.....very pleasantly surprised! The staff were all very friendly (which is ALWAYS a huge plus for me), and answered our questions about the menu like professionals. Service was excellent from our waitress. The atmosphere is fairly oriental, although nothing fancy or amazing. But the food.....it made us so glad we (ok...it was me) got lost and found this place! We ordered Mongolian Beef, Pork Chow Mein, Kung-Pao Shrimp (spelling?), and Orange Chicken. The beef in the Mongolian Beef was beyond tender and tasty. The Orange Chicken was great, and had a spicy zing to it that made me want more! The vegetables on every dish were fresh and cooked to a nice crisp completion. The fried rice with the meal was done just right and complimented everything perfectly. And for those who appreciate food presentation....they nailed it. Everything looked as good on the platters as it tasted! Next time we get up to Mammoth.....this will be a stop for sure! read more

If I could give this review negative stars I would. My family experienced such horrible customer service. Since we were a big group, we wanted to share the food we were ordering but was told, we would be charged for extra plates. The waitress did NOT handle the situation well at all, she only made things worse not handling the situation calmly. The waitress told us to leave threatening to call the police, scaring the children making them cry, and causing a scene. The waitress seemed irritated as my younger sister asked for teriyaki chicken and we asked for waters all-round, specifically telling the waitress one of the waters with no ice, yet she gave us all water with no ice, lazy. This was the strangest and most non-Chinese Chinese food I've had. The Pan Sit- their opening special came recommended by the girl at the register so I ordered it. No drinks, no soup, just the special. Total came to $17.-- so I had to forget any hopes of the cheap fast Chinese food restaurant that I was so hoping would be a nice "pick-up on weeknights" alternative to Red Lantern. It was boiled semolina spaghetti noodles with small cubes of salty pork and nearly raw onions. It was really really gross. Even if I hadn't expected a chinese flavor. And it was $17... Irritating. Since I was their very first customer on opening day I decided not to judge it yet and to try again. A few weeks later I ordered the veggie chow mien and orange chicken. The chow mien was also made with spaghetti noodles, this time tossed with snap peas and onions and salt. Not disgusting. But bland and not even remotely Asian let alone Chinese. The orange chicken was ok. Soggy, decent flavor. But I actually prefer the trader joes mandarin chicken frozen meal. No kidding. On another visit I tried pot stickers and a soup. To sum up, nothing on their menu is anything I would ever order again. Bland, salty, either uninteresting or completely unpalatable. After several months they have not improved. Yum!! We are so excited to finally have a good Chinese restaurant in Mammoth. We loved our meal. The Asian coleslaw salad was a delicious way to start our meal. The Kung pao chicken was great. Lots of chicken and super crisp, fresh veggies. Just the perfect amount of spice. Broccoli beef was awesome too! We ordered wonton soup too. It was tasty and full of wontons and vegetables. I have been to LOTS of Chinese restaurants over the years, but the food here was absolutely the VERY BEST! The fried rice was LOADED with vegetables including water chestnuts. It was light and delicious, expertly prepared! The kung pao tofu had whole peanuts, a fabulous sauce and was excellent. The quantity of food exceeded my expectations. Based on my experience, worst Chinese food I've ever gotten. And all I got was egg drop soup! I know the reviews of this place so I thought egg drop would likely be a safe bet; the worst egg drops I've had have been too bland, etc. But nothing prepared me for this. It was strongly... Tangy?? It tasted like they dumped a gallon of vinegar into it... My boyfriend surmises it was possibly rotten. It was so strong and gross I ate three bites (the second and the third were simply to try to figure out what exactly the flavor was that I was tasting) and threw the rest of it away. It makes my stomach turn to think about it. I was advised when I moved to Mammoth a year ago to never go here and I abided until I broke down last week, and I will never be back. read more

If you must eat Chinese-like food, go to Vons and buy frozen orange chicken and frozen rice and heat it at home. That would be better than this. And I wouldn't recommend Red Lantern either. Disappointed Entering the place to pick up our take-out, I was taken aback by the smell of the place. My son said it smelled weird, to me it smelled like old grease gone bad. The "egg drop soup" was some kind of chicken soup with an odd aftertaste, not like any egg drop soup I've ever had in any Chinese restaurant. Oh yes, the weird soup was served AFTER the main course. The main course contained beef in gross slimy sauce. I've never experienced beef that had the consistency of marshmallows......it was disgusting. Had a few bites and left, did not ask for a doggie bag.
