Wonder is an interesting case study. For the past couple years they've partnered with local and national restaurant names to build a unique platform offering. An array of take out/delivery food choices under one roof, produced in a single ghost kitchen, marketed towards customers who want more than one type of cuisine. Their commercials tout "something for everyone." You can order Mediterranean, fried chicken, BBQ and Chinese all in one order, and they try to encourage this behavior by offering occasional discounts when you purchase from more than one "restaurant." In the past 6 months/1 year they've launched into a second phase rolling out a) more local options under their in-house umbrella, b) acting as a third party consolidator for restaurants in a specific radius of each individual location, essentially a hyper local DoorDash/Grubhub/etc. The food that's from true restaurants is delivered by their own select fleet of delivery drivers or picked up thru third party delivery service like Uber Eats.* There's always good ol' regular take out yourself too. I wonder how successful incorporating both ordering streams will be... 1) The food prep time is different between their in-house brands and outside restaurants. It's only "something for everyone" if everyone's food is ready within a reasonable time. 2) their in-house brands may not appease selective audiences for certain cuisines and I'm not sure if in the long run it would harm the reputations of the original restaurants**: I've been eating at various Wonder locations for the past two years now and they've done a pretty admirable job with maintaining food quality keeping preparations consistent between locations. Though let's be honest when you're sharing ingredients across cuisines some flavors don't taste quite right. Their cooks' finesse of most cuisines produced in-house is slightly above moderate relative to some of the more elevated price points of $30+ per plate. It's like diluted fashion brands, saturating the market with CK in the 90s deteriorated the image of superior label Calvin Klein. For this reason I've visited less and less. My recent visit entailed a promotional discount and ordering from "SriPraPhai" which has a physical location in Jackson Heights in Queens, though is one of the in-house names now: 1) chicken satay skewers $7.95 - savory marinade and three skewers of tender chicken, but so salty, I couldn't eat it together with the entrees. Saved it separately to eat with white rice. 2) Massaman Curry with beef $19.95 - this was actually a lot more authentic in flavor than I expected, you could tasty the spices, coconut milk, nuttiness of the sauce with peanuts. Would recommend, though also salty. 3) drunken noodles with chicken $17.95: generous amount of chicken and fresh basil, the texture of the noodles was a little lacking, kinda dry on the top, like it'd been cooked and sitting out for a while. And..too salty. While wonderful to present an innovative combined food product and ordering service to the customer, given the limitations mentioned above, I'm intrigued to see how their story plays out. *Very curious if many local restaurants are signing on bc fees are lower than other services too? **In the short term thinking it would help pull in some dough, and get your name out there since it's effectively like franchising without the risk of fixed expenses. read more

Service was super fast and easy. Greatly appreciated. All of it was cold. Despite the temperatures being far warmer than in recent weeks, my entire order was really cold. The wings were not chilled like the burrito was, but they had no heat. Food. Lime Salt burrito "mild" pico de gallo is NOT mild. My mouth is burning. So heat from the chiles but no heat from the oven or pan. Yikes. Not much in the way of beans inside, either. Tiny little niblet of a burrito with too few black beans, but with the wings and guac and chips it's a decent size. No excuses for such cold food when delivered so quickly. read more

I had been meaning to check this spot out for a long while and finally a coupon I almost forgot about convinced me to go late one night when I didn't feel like cooking dinner. There are numerous locations now in the city. I went to the one in Chelsea on 23rd. The convenience of this place is 5 stars alone. It remains open until 5am. Do they even close? I want to say it's almost 24 hours. Yes, a lot of the menu for the plethora of restaurant options is a little expensive. But most restaurants are ridiculously expensive so the prices kinds of aligned right. So many options! Ultimately I went with Marcus Samuelsson's Streetbird because I had always wanted to try it and it seemed the biggest bang for my buck. Each chicken sandwich was under $8 and sides were like $4-5. I pre-ordered on the app after a night at the bar and waddled over. My order was ready literally 2 minutes before I got there. Hot and fresh. I had very low expectations knowing this is a ghost kitchen and not the actual restaurants. But hot damn. That was one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had in my life. So juicy and plump, crisp pickle, fluffy bun. The fries were whatever. But I can't stop thinking about that chicken. Wonder is truly a wonder. It is a pickup or delivery food hall, with multiple restaurants (owned by top food network chefs) in one space ( you can pickup and sit in to eat). You can order in store through their kiosks, the app has more deals. I box me if you'd like a discount code :) This location is always pleasant to visit and has quick and accurate service. Has the scallion pancakes from kin house. Nice and apart with lots of flavor! Had the pad Thai from Sri phai, not one of my faves, authentic flavor just wasn't there for me. I have had mixed success with the Wonder Food Hall. Sometimes they get the order right, other times they are out early on desired items. All in all a good reasonable priced experience. I had the Bobby Flay strip steak last week delivered at my requested temperature with their signature side mashed potatoes. It was a very flavorful and tender good sized piece of steak and the potatoes were delicious. For the price and quality you cannot do any better on the UES. read more

They make some really good food for a ghost kitchen and know what they are doing. I call it a ghost kitchen since there is not a huge area to dine at and you can order at the spot via a tablet. Had the Detroit Brick pizza, even though it's not the NY style you should get while in town, and it was pretty awesome. Thick crust with all the crispy edges. The order took a little longer than it should and the staff happily offered a drink to make up for it. I'll definitely be back to try something different. Food delivery has been consistently good. The food, however, is hit or miss. Food I've ordered from Bobby Flay is very good. I've enjoyed the pork chop, the creamed spinach and the branzino. However, every other restaurant I've tried has been disappointing. The food often fails to meet my expectations. Tonight, I ordered two dishes from different restaurants, neither was good. The pad thai with shrimp had a weird taste and, while the shrimp were well cooked, the noodles were mushy. Clearly over cooked. I also ordered a ceasar and kale salad that came without dressing. I was credited $5 for a dish I couldn't eat. The dressing IS the dish when it's a ceasar and kale salad. Wonder was a big disappointment tonight. Ordered off of Grubhub from one of the establishments inside of Wonder (Limesalt). It's a Chipotle-esque BYO bowl/burrito spot. I'm familiar with Wonder and its concept but had never had anything from there before. The food was packaged well and delivered in a timely fashion. The branding is cute and the price point was what you'd expect (options around $12-14. I totally understand the appeal of these food hall things when grabbing lunch with a group since it affords you the opportunity to choose from a wide selection of options in one space. With that said, I thought the food was mediocre at best and would have rather had Chipotle, Dos Toros, Summer Salt, or really any other work lunch place. Tried out Wonder Chelsea today and enjoyed it! Wonder is a digital food hall, where you can order from a bunch of restaurants in one order. I brought a friend who was new to Wonder and the concept was confusing to him at first. So if you're new, I'd say, first, download the Wonder app, and second, ask the staff for any promo codes on your first order. There's tons! Third, flip through the restaurants on the app and choose what you want! Remember, you can order from multiple places in one go. I went for the limited edition BBQ Brisket Bowl and Mexican fries from Limesalt, and my friend tried filet mignon from Bobby Flay. The BBQ Brisket Bowl was pretty good; the meat was tender and I liked the complement of fajita veggies, corn, and cheese. The fries, though! So delish. They were simple with the right texture: crispy but not too crispy, topped with a chile-lime salt that had me licking the box after! My friend's filet mignon was medium rare and tender. Not bad for pre-prepared meat. The sauce is the keeper. It's this peppery sauce with a little sweetness. Best part, it comes in a bottle you can take home ;) Ambiance-wise, the space is small and fairly empty, so don't expect the ambiance of a lively food hall. But, if you're looking for a quiet, low-key space to eat, it's your place! There was no music when we were eating but the music came on later! All things said, the staff are what make this place great. They were so accommodating and welcoming. Shoutout to Sebastian and George for their help! We had a terrible experience with Wonder Chelsea this evening. They were out of ingredients that should have been in the Cobb salad. The fish taco had no tortilla, just a slab of fish, so it wasn't even a taco. Their app is awful, and doesn't combine orders from multiple restaurants--the whole point of this take-out combination of eateries. For a single order from 2 restaurants they charged us 2 service fees @ $8 or $9, & 2 delivery fees. We used them 6 months ago & several times before that, but will never use them again. read more

I was impressed by the Michellin rated restaurants and the ability to purchase a blue apron food box Anyhow since I happened upon this place but wasn't super hungry I ordered chicken fingers from yard bird . They were tasty. I picked a hot chili sauce . It came with pickles. The next day I decided to order from salt lime The cashier let me know I can download the app to receive $5 off The prices at salt lime are more affordable than chipotle . My chicken bowl was tipsy but the outcome wasn't as nice as the picture. I also ordered a brisket sandwich from Tejas. I actually enjoyed the amount of meat as well as the freshness of the bun. lol I am thinking of quitting protein because of this. This place is really making a leap after opening maybe 12 locations or so In 2023 in the greater NY/NJ area, business seems to be booming in 2024 and almost that number and more are opening on the same speed in 2024. I have been to at least 4 locations already but this is an early favorite. New kind of food hall is the slogan, and I am here for it. From Bobby Flay Steak ( rib-eye steak of 16 ounces for $34 and sides are in the $9 price range each) to Streetbird which offers chicken and waffles that you can purchase to Tejas Barbecue which has classic brisket sandwiches starting at $13. I tried Tejas and was definitely not the biggest fan of that place, they would get a C rating for me even on their best day. Alanza is here as well and they have a pasta option with no meat that is almost a perfect value to order of $8 or so. This one gets my 1000% recommendation to try. I had a $15 credit because of various snafus, my fault to a large degree, so it was very kind of them to credit the meal I never got. Using my credit, I ordered something for $17, yet had to pay $10 after the credit. So my $17 dish was actually $27, with taxes, service and automatic tip. The quality was definitely not matched to the price, for a simple dish. I had to order something not spicy because I am on a medication that causes mouth sores, yet the dish I got had bits of hot red pepper. It had too much chicken and not enough tofu. It wasn't hot. They were out of scallions. From a local Thai restaurant, I could have gotten the same dish for less and much higher quality. I have found only one simple thing I like at the local Wonder -- fried chicken sandwich. Hardly demanding of chefery, but reliably good (even though one time they gave me the wrong chicken sandwich). read more

I ordered from wonder three times. Once was in November, December and then most recently in January. The first time I had a quesadilla and I enjoyed it along with corn and greens. The next time I had Mr. D's, fried chicken yams, and greens and red beans rice. the yams weren't that great but the fried chicken was good as well as the greens and the red beans and rice, although the rice seemed to be lacking content for the container, I don't know if it was the last of what they had or the serving is just very light, but I found it to be not filling. My most recent order was a repeat of the first order, except this time I ordered tortilla chips and queso from lime salt. I was really disappointed in my most recent order. The quesadilla chicken tasted days old, the tortilla chips were too salty and the queso was too salty as well. When I reached out to Customer Service to let them know about my experience, I didn't feel properly heard or taken care of as a customer. I don't know if I'll be back, but I do hope that they can keep the food, fresh and consistent. read more

I just tried this because they had a nice new customer offer - $10 off. The food is very average and not worth the price, even discounted. We tried the Greek and Indian food. The Greek salad was fine and used fresh vegetables, but the dressing was oddly sweet. Not a great choice, and it ruined it for me. The beef meatballs were dry. If you are in a mood for Greek food, please do yourself a favor and go to an actual restaurant that specializes in it, not a ghost kitchen with a unified front. There's no way that the quality can be consistent without pre-made items. The butter chicken was decent, but there's much better in Chelsea Market and Patiala Grill by Penn Station (HIGHLY recommend). read more

I want to give Wonder five stars because much of the food is fantastic AND the whole family can order their favorite cuisine (a kid can have Italian, an adult can have Indian etc). For NYC, it's decently priced too. BUT it's been so frustrating hoping they can iron out the kinks when it would be so easy. They've been in Chelsea long enough to have it down. The biggest issues are: 1. Missing food - ordered Indian, checked off the rice, no rice arrives. Repeat. Different restaurants, same problem. 2. Consistency - One week the pasta dish was full, the next week it arrived half full. 3. Temperature - We have never had all meals warm. Never. We live in the same block. We pick it up ourselves as soon as we get the notification. There is no way it was piping hot and became luke warm in five minutes. It seems that some of the meals are made and sit on a counter until the last one is finished. Where are the heat lamps? If you let them know, they will refund it and often comp but that's just not acceptable every week. They are very nice about it, but it is still one of us with a lukewarm meal or a side missing. More times than not. We love the convenience, the quality and variety but the execution has not gotten better after one year. Plan on heating up your food and having a back up snack in case part of your meal isn't there. read more
