One of Portland's oldest bean-to-bar chocolate makers, it's worth a visit. The space is industrial and somewhat cold. The seating space is small and feels a bit like an afterthought. They have large windows that let you see the chocolate making in progress. Woodblock has always been okay, good but not the best chocolate maker in the city. They've been around for some time, though, and that's a good thing. Worth a visit.

Really great little gem. Try the drinking chocolate, it's small but yum. Got to talk with the owner and he was a really nice guy. Gave us some samples of stuff he was just trying out. This seemed like Willy Wonka for adults. Would definitely recommend. Super cozy too, I could totally see myself just coming in for a coffee and a treat

Stopped by on a Saturday to to grab a few bars to try. The place was empty when we were there but they had all of their variety's on display to choose from. The guy working was nice and promptly rang us up. We tried milk, dark milk, dark, and Madagascar single origin bars as well as the dark chocolate bar with coconut and almonds. The bars were really good overall. The milk was just okay. I don't usually like milk chocolate so that's not a huge surprise but my partner does and wasn't a big fan. The dark milk and dark chocolate bars were very good though. I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you like dark chocolate! The small bars are the perfect size and reasonably priced.

Stopped by for hot chocolate and it didn't disappoint. I tried it with a large chocolate chip cookie and it never felt like too heavy or too much

Came in to try some quality chocolate. Got a milk chocolate bar and a dark chocolate bar - both of which were really good. They were $5 each, which is steep but you get what you pay for. The interior of the shop was nice, very white, and attractive. I also liked how they painted the vintage exterior. Staff were friendly. Enjoyed the quick trip!

Artisan bean-to-bar chocolate made in-house! I love watching the chocolate in production and bought 3 bars of chocolate! The Mocha hit the spot with 70% Dark Chocolate from Tanzania, so tasty that I bought a bar! After sampling the smooth and decadent Madagascar 70% chocolate, I bought a bar of it along with another bar which was a combination from Ecuador and Peru. Although it's hard to decipher the subtle difference in taste between the different origins, the beans have a slightly different flavor.

Cute shop, we came here on a Saturday morning. No wait time, they are a craft chocolate manufacturer. We came here to try the drinking chocolate. It' was a cute experience. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable. $5 for a cup of drinking chocolate, very rich in flavor!

On a recent trip, I patronized a variety of chocolate shops in several states, and each had great qualities, but Woodblock wins as the whole package. The store itself is stunning: High ceilinged, bright and white, though not sterile, with plenty of seating (even a bistro table outdoors), and a glassy view into the manufacturing area. Samples were plentiful and generously given, even when I ended up trying nearly every single product. And they are not limited to the (admittedly spectacular) chocolate bars. Woodblock also has truffles, baked goodies, coffee, drinking chocolate, and even straight cacao beans! Branding is on point, packaging is gorgeous, and I adore the small size of the bars. Lastly, prices are reasonable, and the employee working was entirely charming. As I said, I tried nearly everything. The coolest was their "resting" chocolate: mendiants jarred with either mint, hops, or coffee beans, thus soaking up the flavor of their companions in a slightly more than subtle manner that still allowed the craft chocolate to shine through. This is also special because you can buy their bars other places, but I am quite sure this is the only spot you can get that particular treat. My other favorites included the olive oil sea salt truffles (quite dark and borderline bitter, but mildly sweet with a fantastic rich ganache-y filling), and of the bars I especially adored Salt & Nibs, Toasted Sesame, and the Peru and Madagascar single origins. My husband had a latte, which he approved of (he does not get all that excited about chocolate-bah!). Portland in particular is home to a variety of chocolate-related businesses. In an ideal world, you would go to every single one, but if you do not have that option, make sure Woodblock tops the list of must-visits.

Nice staff. Very informative. The chocolate smells amazing. The parking is street. The wine tasting was fun. Overall, the location is worth a visit if you enjoy different chocolates. The milk chocolate and coffee chocolate were the two I was able to finish. The chocolate drink was $5 and came with whipped cream. Very rich in taste. This was definitely a quick experience.

I came here specifically for the sipping chocolate and left happy. It was nice to know that all the chocolate here is made on site. Visitors can enjoy watching the process the cacao goes through before it is transformed into a chocolate treat which can been observed through one of their many viewing windows. There was a good selection of chocolate items for purchase at the counter. They also offer wine and chocolate tastings which makes for a unique experience.

The drinking chocolate is super dark chocolate, I ordered a cookie to eat with it and it balanced it out! The ambience is amazing and it wasn't busy at all. The service was also great! The chocolate bars are also pretty authentic tasting, so be prepared for a darker, cleaner chocolate without all the sugar.

I wanted to try some different chocolate shops in Portland and came across these guys. I believe Salt and Straw uses some of their chocolates in their ice cream. The shop is pretty small. It looks like they make the chocolate there and have a little retail spot for customers. The service is superb! The individual took time to explain to me the different assortments and also offered many samples! She was also very patient with me as I did not know what to get. They don't have your typical chocolate pieces, but more in shape of bars. Also the prices are very reasonable.

Two Assorted 10 bar Samplers, two specialty chocolate treats, beautiful high quality T Shirt

Woodblock chocolates is a special place in Portland that makes some super high quality chocolates. I ordered boxes of 10 assorted chocolates (samplers) to give as gifts to my clients. The gifts arrived as beautifully and artfully packaged as the chocolates themselves. If you're looking for something that makes a nice gift that isn't made in some giant factory, but made carefully and with pride by artisans, or if you just love fine chocolates, I highly recommend Woodblock Chocolates. If you by chance own a cafe, bookstore or confectionary (Gelato comes to mind), consider putting these out on your counter to sell. I bet they'll be snapped up. My buying experience was easy, the package arrived promptly, and every item in it was perfect. I will be returning here, and plan to stop by Woodblock's manufactory next time we're in Portland for some treats. I can smell those hand picked chocolate beans roasting now! Shout out to Woodblock Chocolate!

We had the coffee (Extracto, love.), I had a really good hef and my mother a very well balanced Bellini that I was very pleasantly surprised with trying. From what I saw, the lunch sounds very good and I'd be more apt to recommend folks give that a shot if they happened to be going there too. I'm not sure if I'd recommend as a must go stop. Vibe wise, the ambience is overall really nice. I think having rolled flatware, even with just upgraded napkins, would better complete the aesthetic you initially see and feel. This would also connect with the price point of the food and quality of the beverages. As a fellow server, on that note I would expect more consistent stronger visual appearance standards with servers. (Sorry guys! But some of you looked great!) Overall, I'd definitely join a friend for coffee and lunch over there in the future. Just wouldn't be my top pick for a celebratory brunch or intimate dinner with a date or friends and fam.

The kid's scoop costed $5.25 each and additional toppings were 75 cents each. I loved both the scoops. The taste was as good as other locations we had tried. The ice cream was dense and creamy. You can see many items in the front case when you walk in. There were at least 10 gluten free options, all clearly marked on the menu. All looked delicious and the decision was difficult for once. My dad had the mango black tea panna cotta and I went for the raspberry gateau. The panna cotta had great flavor. Subtle on the tea, strong with the mango. A generous portion but light enough that it could be finished. The raspberry gateau was rich and chocolatey. The raspberries were a necessity to add dimension to the dish.
