We've been here for breakfast and dinner, well, hamburgers and shakes. There is always a wait, but oh, so worth it! Once seated, though, servers are attentive and very pleasant. Breakfast Omelet was so big we had to share it. We got the Woody's omelet with lots of meat, cheese and even avocado and sour cream. Some breakfast sausages give me heartburn, but their sausage was very mild. For our bread choice we got the biscuit and gravy ... yum! Tender homemade biscuit and gravy. Hash browns tasted like homemade. Tried their burgers. Very good, fresh bun, veggies, and it appeared to be a hand shaped fresh meat burger. Food was just "ok" and nothing special, service by our waitress was very good. Serving portion was small, I had a Pastrami sandwich that had only a small amount of meat on it in comparison to the HAT. Almost $16 for sandwich and fries which in my opinion was a poor value. We stopped for brunch coming home from LA on Saturday morning about 11am. They have indoor and outdoor dining spaces available so you have your choice. The staff is all wearing masks and generally following Covid-19 protocols so we felt good about eating here. It was our first time and the menu can overwhelm you, three pages of breakfast is great with so many choices from standards of eggs, sausage and bacon to omelets made with a bunch of ingredients. Larger portions, kids menu. AND they serve lunch and dinner too. Looks like a full bar available also. Quick service, quick food, we were in and out with leftovers in 45 minutes. When they can get the place cleaner, it's an old place, then it could be a true four stars. No place to put three and a half. Food and service were good. read more

Horrible food, great atmosphere. Their environment is top notch but the food is prepared by people who clearly don't know how to cook. Everything is prepared poorly. Great and delicious foods!! I had the Spininila (I think that's what it's called lol) omelette w/ A side of cottage cheese, and 1 pancakes w/cinnamon, butter and honey !!!! SoOo Good! The bite over here @ Woody's Diner is worth it and cost a little more than Norms Restaurant but it's definitely better than having paper pancakes at Norms lol. Not the same place it used to be. I understand a lot of places are understaffed still. But seems that even when they do have the staff there are so many people not doing anything and one poor server running around doing it all. I come here quite a bit because it's close and the parking is easy for the area. It's just lately when visiting the restaurant. You don't get greeted for 15 minutes. They don't have a bartender to pour drinks. So the manager makes the drinks. But the manager has no knowledge of there cocktail menu or in general. I hate to even write a review like this. It's just this place has so much potential. And seems like a waste. I will say we went in Saturday night and our server maizie was excellent and the food we got to go was delicious. But again you had one server running around the restaurant while there was other staff on breaks. Basically it just boils down to poor management. Not knowing there job well enough. Sucks for the staff. Not having support to do your job is tough. Which makes for high turn over of staff. The old managers pre pandemic rocked. I miss those ladies. They had it together. I guess good luck. I hope you can figure out how to make this place better again. read more

My best friend had never tasted beer battered fries so I decided to take her to the first place that I could find that sold them. That's how we ended up here. And I'm sure glad that we did. We seated ourselves right away and our lovely waitress brought us water and took our orders. My friend had the bleu cheeseburger with beer battered fries while I opted for the Texas BBQ burger with beer battered fries. Our meals were brought to us in a short amount of time. She said that hers was good but mine was delicious! I could taste every single ingredient and none of them disappointed. Those fries were tasty! Especially with some ketchup to finish them off! Woody's Diner has plenty of options for breakfast and the food is very good. The seating is only available outside due to the pandemic, so this make s it a little noisy, but overall it's a good atmosphere. They have plenty of umbrellas to provide shade. The biscuits and gravy included with the farmers breakfast is awesome. The oatmeal is also good. I will definitely return!! read more

To say woodys is even average would be giving an undue compliment. The servers definitely bent over backwards for one or two tables and completely ignored all of the others while disappearing for long periods of time. The decor is also a weird pairing of what ever was on sale at hobby lobby. The food was pretty sad. I ordered an over easy egg and got a barely sunny side up egg. The whites and yolk were damn raw. The sausages I got had the consistency of mashed potatoes..... yuck. The pancakes I got were like two rubber disks. I would have complained, but as I said above, the servers were nowhere to be found. I ate what I thought was edible and paid the over priced bill and went home. I was then VERY sick for a couple days, so draw your own conclusions as to why........ I live a couple blocks away and would have loved a new place to add into my restaurant rotation, but as far as I'm concerned I will never go back. First trip to Woodies was ok. The place is super clean and comfortable, waitress was friendly. I was hoping for more from what I ordered. I asked what's good and Burgers were recommended so I went with a burger, well done no pickle no tomatoes! They nailed it but it wasn't anything special at all. The thousand tasted like pickles which I don't like, the meat was good but if you somewhat specialize in burgers then at least try and impress me (make me come back for more) and this wasn't impressive at all. Ranch seemed store bought (not bad but no great) salad( Ceasar dressing wasn't good) soup and zucchini's were also just average and kind of bland. Not bad just nothing to remember. I took my mother here last night and raved that the one in Huntington Beach and Seal Beach were great. The location was prime for the area. Decor was neat and clean however the hostess sat us in a booth with the light bulb burnt out and looked at me confused when I asked her to turn the light on. Our waitress was friendly and prompt. My mom ordered the meatloaf $13.99 I ordered the breakfast burrito $9.99 Food came out around 10 minutes. Meatloaf: overly minced. It was sweet and I couldn't even taste meat. The mashed potatoes were standard and the veggies were good. Was this worth $13.99? No. It was comparable to hospital food. Breakfast Burrito- I mean, you can't really mess up on that can you? It was served with semi melted cheese on top. After one bite I was searching for the taste. It was bland. I was able to manage to eat half before I stopped and I was hungry before we ordered. I literally just had it for leftover breakfast before typing this review and had one bite before tossing it in the trash. Note to management: I love the location and the Woody's Restaurants. I'm aware that the location has seen many restaurants come and go. Please have your chefs (and maybe they need to see themselves as chefs and not just cooks) taste the food and look at what needs to be improved upon before sending it out. I will come back to have their burgers since I loved the ones at the Seal Beach and Huntington Beach locations. read more

I am giving Woody's four stars because we are happy with them so far, and I think they have great potential! Doesn't mean there aren't a few hiccups, but nothing that you wouldn't expect from a newly opened restaurant. We have gone twice now, on Sundays, for lunch/brunch after church, arriving around noon. They are always slammed, super busy...good thing, we want to see a restaurant succeed here! Both times, the hostess was very attentive; kept us informed of when a table was going to be ready; was able to seat us where we wanted to be. (Up front, by the windows.) My husband and I ordered breakfast both times and were very happy with the food. (Sadly the coffee is terrible!) Because they were busy, it took a little longer than it should have to get our meals, but not bad at all. I will say that we had the same server both times, and she wasn't that great. We had to ask for more cream for the coffee; she said "be right back" then never returned. She was attentive, refilling coffee and water, but anything requested kind of didn't happen. That will not keep us from returning. This is a great addition to our Old Town Orange area. It's just what we need here, a casual restaurant with reasonable prices. We have our favorites around the Plaza when we want something more up-scale, but for casual dining this is a winner. read more

My favorite is... everything. From a breakfast omelette to a lunch club sandwich to a bacon burger for dinner. The food is very good and does not disappoint. Try the onion rings and fries! Don't call in if they are busy. If the phoned is answered you can't place your order unless it was a server that picked up the call. I was on hold for 25 minutes. I stayed on the line, drove to Woody's, waited while another party was seated and then asked hostess if she had someone on hold. She did not have clue even with the phone off the hook 10 inches from where she is stationed. No apology was offered. How about some good old fashioned customer service and better training. Has Woody's quality and dining experience slipped? It's unfortunate that I have to step to this level, but as a local patron, I've been dining at Woody's on average 4 -5 times a week and tonight's dinner was "the straw that broke the camel's back" for me. I'm dissatisfied with the FOOD/SERVICE and I'm giving you my feedback on my experience to help you in assessing what could be tarnishing your business and brand. Tonight I came in about 8pm. I was greeted properly and sat in a timely manner. Waitress took my drink order. I requested a Diet Coke, she brought me regular coke(fine, common mistake). She eventually got me a Diet Coke. I continued with looking at the menu and decided on a grilled cheese with jalapeños. Sounded great. Believe it's $7.99 on menu. I ordered that along with split pea soup. For a grilled cheese, the order took a little longer than usual for it to arrive. Surprised, since the restaurant was not busy. I bit into the sandwich and was in shock at what I was paying for... for starters, the cheese was composed of two Velveeta-thin slices. It was all bread and very little cheese. Seriously? And to top it off, the cheese wasn't even melted all the way. It looked like something I made in the 5th grade with no parental supervision. This was a big fail on the cook's part. When you FAIL the easiest thing to make on your menu, I wonder how these more complex dishes are turning out? I was left without words... I quickly waved down another server and asked her to checkout what I was observing. I asked her if this is how grilled cheeses are made at this diner. She was deer in the headlights. Couldn't give me a proper answer and said she would have them remake it(robotic empathy). ...more time had gone by and at this point. I had lost my appetite. Completely. I thought to myself, "do these cooks even know what a Grilled Cheese from an American Diner is?". I seriously question that. Why are you so tight with your cheese? And why isn't it melted?! This hasn't been the only time I noticed undercooked items. Two weeks ago, I had a grilled artichoke that only an iguana could digest. Way too undercooked and hard to eat. Did you guys get a new cook? Has he or she been properly trained? Why wasn't I even approached by a manager? So many questions... and I'm still pissed. I hope you resolve this... As for me, I will not dine at Woody's for 3 months(see you late October). During my hiatus, I hope you iron out your bugs. Family friendly, good people working there, and strong breakfast offerings with excellent tasting eggs. Everything always fresh, always seating available so no wait. We've been here 3 times - the turkey Swiss mushroom burger and Rueben sandwich are both fantastic . Kids love the Mac n cheese. Sports on all the TVs. Clean restrooms. We left our iPad here on accident for 2 weeks before we figured out where it was ... we called and they had saved it for us. Worst experience ever! After being seated, no one came to our table for almost 10min and multiple waitresses walked by. Finally when the waitress came, her name was Crystal, she was rude and had an attitude!!! She's lucky she got a tip! I had an eyelash in my side salad and my mom had a long hair in her Cobb salad. When we told the waitress, her response was no one has blond hair here, rolled her eyes and grabbed the salad and walked away. We have been going to Woody's for years, the Orange location and Laguna Woods location and have never had an experience like today. We won't be going back after this! read more

The service was okay. The food, though. Bland is the best words to describe it. The fries were tasteless and soft. The pancakes were chewy, and not in a good way. I met up with friends here recently to give this place a try. I had the cheese burger, onion rings, and iced tea. It was all good! The burger became pretty messy, but fortunately there's a napkin dispenser already on the table which really helped. The onion rings were great, crunchy and not oily. I'll be getting those again! We arrived right before the lunch rush and were able to get seated right away. Once the lunch rush started though, service slowed down quite a bit, but we weren't in a hurry so it wasn't a problem. We're already making plans for a return visit to try out other things on the menu. read more

Today we had Jenny and Aimee awesome young ladies, And great bringing out the food and making sure your order was right. Ok this is our 4th visit in 2 weeks. Onion rings are killer. We haven't found a bad thing on the menu yet. Aimee is making up for not hearing "no mayo", last time ;-)). Kate is still running a tight ship.
