Cookies are served Mon-Thurs late afternoon/early evening. They just started the Mixer on Wed evenings. Breakfast has numerous options: waffles, oatmeal, eggs, bacon/sausage, breads, juices, fresh cut fruit, dry cereal, etc. The staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is easy. The gym is adequate. I really love that they have pet-free floors. As a non-pet owner I get turned off when entering a room that is full of pet hair and odors. The hotel location is ideal as well, it's within walking distance to a gas station, grocery store and mini/strip mall with a Super Target, Dollar Tree, movie theater and multiple restaurants (fast and sit-down).

I was a little irritated that they didn't offer basic bath amenities. A tiny bottle of lotion certainly won't break the bank, but it's annoying to realize there's none available unless you buy it from their commissary for a premium price. The gym was ok, I'm not sure how often it is cleaned or attended to. The water station with cups was missing cups every day, so my hunch is it's infrequent. Lastly, echoing what someone else shared with the breakfast, I was a little shocked how much was pre-packaged cereals, Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, muffins, etc. I was grateful they had milk alternatives available, but otherwise not the best showing there either.

For Summer 26, I stayed at the Smithfield Hampton. I have Crohn's Disease, and became physically ill while in the room. I went to the front desk and told the young man that I was going to have to go home. It was sweltering hot out ... believe me ... I would have rather stayed in an air conditioned hotel room. All I did was sit on the bed and watch a few minutes of TV. I became ill in the bathroom twice and figured I should go home. I was charged $203.46. This is exactly how a business SHOULD NOT treat a supposedly valued customer. Not sure how many will view this info, but I have already told dozens of my friends about this.

Thank you for being so kind to my family and me. God bless you. SUE, at breakfast... Yes, that tiara is fitting queen! Thank you for being so kind. My sister told me of how comforting it was to chat with you before I arrived for breakfast and you were just as gracious to me and my niece. Our mom passed in Johnston on Sunday. Ordinarily, a hotel is not the best to place to be vs. with family at our home, but we felt very comfortable and safe there. The hotel has a good spirit to it. ALEX, thank you sir. Your cup made me feel at home . Clean hotel, great breakfast on the go. The rooms were cleaned beautifully, thank you. Bugs hugs. Thank you!!!

I was a little nervous about staying in a small boutique hotel, but this place completely won me…read moreover. It's beautiful, quiet, and genuinely accommodating, and the location couldn't have been more perfect. I woke up, grabbed a cup of coffee from the hall's snack area, and it ended up being the most peaceful, effortless escape.

Pros: - very comfy bed…read more- cruelty free toiletries available in the shower and bathroom, various herbal / fresh citrus scents that were not too strong - very friendly front desk staff that accommodated our needs around check out - we were able to keep luggage with them for many hours after check out and extend our parking time for no fee. The woman who checked us in was very friendly and gave us a tour of the common areas - entrances are locked to the public and secured with a password for extra safety - our room was big - I was pleasantly surprised to see that they offer Nespresso coffees with lots of fix ins available (even dairy free milk in the fridges!), grab and go snacks like Himalayan Gold popcorn and flavored almond mixes, and fresh made more substantial snacks like a chia seed pudding with coconut flakes and pineapple that was so good, I had it twice! Also available at any time in the fridges were Apple streussel yogurt parfaits and hard boiled eggs. Chocolate chip cookies are baked throughout the day. - nicely decorated lounge area on first floor and deck patio space - you are able to leave items in a designated shared refrigerator space in the kitchenette on the first floor, a clever solution to no fridges in the rooms (at least not in mine). The thought of a communal, unmentioned fridge with strangers did give me pause though, but it's nice they offer it. Room for improvement: - I understand I came in a heat wave and summer is not prime season in Salem, but the room was so warm. The air conditioning would not go below 67° setting, but the real room temp was always much higher according to the thermostat (this morning it was 76!) I was sweating and had a hard time sleeping. They gave us a box fan when we asked if the AC could go any lower...I wasn't even sure it was on....and that helped a little but still wasn't enough. Please let people turn down the temp so they can sleep without waking up sweaty! The AC units also made a decently loud bubbling noise - this seems to be in a part of town near where an unhoused group of people hangs out. To walk to the off site parking lot, which was not far away at all thankfully, you have to walk through a big park full of many unhoused people, some begging or shouting. It made me feel a bit unsafe and I wasn't thrilled to leave my car in an area of town like that. Head's up. On our last day here, there was also a seemingly unhoused woman hanging out on the front steps of the hotel's (beautiful!) lawn for many hours. At one point when we walked by, she was starting to get aggressive and shout at people walking by. - the bar in the lounge area, prominently featured on their website, is non functional as they do not have a liquor license, which would have been a nice place to enjoy a cocktail - the tvs have lots of streaming apps advertised on the TV main screen, but none are logged in to the hotel's account. I guess that's standard in some cases, but it felt frustrating to not be able to watch a lot of what was shown to us. - not the hotel's fault, just a product of the location (which was otherwise very convenient and centrally located!), but there were loud cars with booming stereos driving by at all hours of the night on a weekday that occasionally woke me up. - the lot they let you park in temporarily while you unload luggage, while a nice gesture and made moving bags much easier, is very tight and took quite a few maneuvers to be able to get out of. - there's really only one heavy duty lock on the door, but overall the closing mechanism felt very lightweight and I didn't have a ton of confidence in it. We were only given one key for two people staying in one room. Overall, the location and service were nice, but the temp issue was pretty hard to get past since it made me feel so stifled. The snacks came in handy more than once, but for the price, I'd look around at other locations before automatically coming back here, I imagine you could find something cheaper that isn't on the fringes of a sketchy neighborhood. It is right next to Hauswitch, which was one of my favorite shops in all of the many, many options in town, so that's a plus, but they really need a better AC system for summer guests. Thank you for a cozy stay other than that and for such welcoming treatment!

The day of the funeral, I received word that another friend had passed the evening before. I came back to the hotel that evening, where I wanted to take in a cigar and a bourbon out back, in honor of my two friends. I found that I had not packed matches or a torch. Miss Taylor quickly came to my rescue by providing me with matches. The kindness didn't stop there. I was provided with a care bag that evening AND the next evening as well. The very best thing I received, was a personalized card, hand written and signed by Miss Taylor and several other members of the staff. It's the personal touch of true kindness that makes this a place I will certainly return to. It is with my deepest gratitude I write this review. Peace be the journey.

I made a reservation and then had to cancel it as a death in the family led to me canceling my entire trip to the area. The woman I spoke with was incredibly nice and understanding and helped me canceled it without issue. A week later I was charged $200 on my card again by Fairfield. I called and spoke with someone who said I need to email proof of the double charge to the hotel email and they would get to it because they were too busy to help me and would call me the next day. I thought that was rather dismissive but said ok and sent the email. Today I called again as I had not heard anything back and spoke to a woman who sounded annoyed the moment she picked up the phone. I explained the situation to her, said I was traveling and was on my layover, and asked if I could speak to someone about this charge. She refused, said everyone was busy, and I could leave my number. I asked to speak with a manager and told her again I had been waiting to be called, hadn't been, and I was traveling so I really couldn't just deal with this later. She told me that "as she's already said" she's busy, the manager is busy, she wasn't going to go find them right now, and I could leave my number or hang up. I gave her my number and told her I wasn't trying to be difficult, I just wanted this random charge off my card and didn't want to go through the process of disputing it. She just said she didn't care and hung up. I've worked in hospitality for years and genuinely cannot believe the experience they thought was acceptable for this situation. I almost always choose Marriott brands when traveling but this might have been it for me. Absolutely will never book here again.
