I understand business might be slow on hot days, but watering down the soup is not the answer. This place used to serve some of the richest, most flavorful broths, but not today. We let the server know the soup was very bland after paying, hoping it was just an off day. I was even planning to take out the same soup, but ended up going to Wooga Sulung Tang in Gardena instead to grab the same soup for my boyfriend -- and it was much better. If this is a change from new management, it's a big mistake. Please don't serve watered‑down soup to customers. Very disappointing.

It was a busy day for Mul Naeng-Myeon but they conveniently had a couple tables for us. They can get busy, and there was a line forming as we were eating, so it is understandable if the service can seem a little pushy at times, and this comes out in very subtle ways (i.e. There's no AC, only a small fan. If they want you to leave, they'll position the fan away from you). Cold water is also only available upon request, as well as extra napkins. Otherwise, you'll be wiping your mouth with a one-ply napkin the whole time. The banchan was great. I especially loved the onions and perilla leaves. The kimchi tasted fresh and tangy, but the radishes were a bit too sweet and cut very clunky. The Naeng-Myeon was good; it tasted very heavily of sesame, and not much else. The meat was also pretty tough to chew. Very filling, but expensive for the amount of meat you get. Definitely made use of the vinegar and mustard, which they eventually took away to give to another table. I'm thinking I just ordered the wrong thing and came on the wrong day. I saw what other people ordered, and it looked delicious, always served with enthusiasm. Next time, I'll have what they're having.

Instead of showing any understanding or hospitality, the owner told me to leave the restaurant and wait in the coffee shop next door. I was shocked because I had every intention of purchasing food. I wasn't causing a disturbance or asking for anything unreasonable. The way I was spoken to and treated made me feel embarrassed, unwelcome, and honestly as though I was being judged before I was even given a chance to order. I left feeling humiliated. Customer service is about treating people with basic kindness and respect, and unfortunately, that was completely missing during my visit. I won't be returning, and I hope the owner learns that a little compassion can make a huge difference in how customers are treated.

Updating my recent review: Service was great, Jace is the chef, server, and dishwasher. He constantly checked in on us making sure we were satisfied. The restaurant itself feels like a party waiting to happen with good music. Food is phenomenal. I had the opportunity to order and try from lunch and dinner. During lunch, had the Hongdae Meatball Sandwich and the Tteok Galbi. My goodness the serving alone is more than generous. Flavor in each bite and paired well with the coleslaw. If you are a big fan of cheese, add it on top of the Tteok Galbi, epic cheese pull incoming. Came back for dinner and tried one of the top 10 dishes. There's a reason why it is top 10 (pork belly and Tteok Galbi). Each dish brings a unique flavor that only Chef Jace can make. Tteok Galbi again, no questions asked, thats how much I love it. Kimchi pancake is crispy and captures authentic flavor. The soy korean fried chicken is packed with flavor. You know its amazing when you bite and its so hot (freshly made) but so good. The Tteok Galbi Set was nicely seasoned and marinated, and the accompanying salad was exceptionally dressed. So good! We also tried the Rosé Sujebi, which was incredibly creamy and rich. The sauce was so good that I actually started dipping other things into it, which completely amplified the flavor combinations across the board. Lastly, the Redondo Seafood Jeon was exceptionally crispy and packed with seafood, which paired perfectly with the chestnut makgeolli. What really made the night though, was Joon. He runs the place with so much genuine warmth and care. It's rare to see an owner so personally invested in making sure their guests have a good experience, and his welcoming personality completely elevated our dinner. The guy was nice but needs to be trained properly. He didn't even know how to pour beer from the tap. All foam...teach him to angle the mug. More than the beer, he was not trained to be a server. The staff was friendly and let gave the kids a pen to write on their wall. My husband found this little hole in the wall on Yelp. Inside this little tiny place are a handful of tables. The space itself is a bit cramp and small. When we came in, we were greeted by an older gentleman. He was slowly making his way to help this other table. He also tried to clear a table when we saw us. We ended up deciding to sit at a small table on the wall in one of the corners. The table itself needed some cleaning (I actually carry disinfectant wipes in my purse and took one out to wipe down the table because there was red splashes of maybe soup that was on the table and napkin dispenser). The menu is on a large banner at the front of the restaurant, right above the kitchen and there is also another menu on the wall. After looking it over, we ended up ordering: Complementary Banchan- We had 6 different little dishes brought to our table. I did like the variety. Of the 6, I liked the potato the best, but it was a little soggy and oily though. Beef Rib Soup, $20.99 prior to tax- My husband ordered this dish and he enjoyed it. I didn't have any at all. This dish also came with a side of rice (you can choose between steam white rice or purple rice, my husband picked the purple rice). There wasn't that much meat in this dish. Clam Noodle Soup, $18.99 prior to tax- Honestly after looking over the menu, nothing really called me to order. So I just picked this dish, but there was definitely a lot of clams in this soup dish. I liked the flavor of the soup, as it was not too salty and had a nice clean taste. There were glass noodles in the soup which was nice to have some starch with my meal. ------------------------------ (Total= $44.18 after tax, prior to tip) Service was very slow, as the man helping with the table service has a limp and you can see has trouble getting around. This did not bother us as we understood the man was not able to move faster (and honestly we were not in a hurry). There is only one woman inside the kitchen, whom I am assuming is the wife of the man. She took our order. When the man brought over our water and banchan, I do no think he was able to get to the corner where we were sitting so he placed those items next to the table next to us and we just slid it over to our table. We were never really checked on if we needed water or any refill on the banchan, but again, I am just going to give the benefit of the doubt that because the man was not able to get over to us, he just wasn't really able to see if we needed anything. Overall, I think my experience was just okay. I do love hole in the wall restaurants and this place definitely delivers. But I am just not convinced with the food. But my husband did like his meal and would come back but I don't think I would (also we are not in this area in general and only really visit Gardena and the South Bay maybe a few times a year).
