Bar Side

The North Las Vegas Craig Road location of WSKY is different than the other WSKY locations in North Las Vegas. This one has a split personality and is called WSKY Cantina & Restaurant. One side of the limited menu is breakfast, bar bites, salads, sandwiches, entrees and dessert. The Cantina side of the menu is a limited Mexican Restaurant menu. When you walk into the main entrance it is dark and bar-like with gaming. You can walk to the other side or go in to their separate entrance to the dining area. We sat in the dining area. Both areas have lots of big screen TVs showing sports. The dining area (Cantina) has traditional tables, booths and half booths. Watch out for the booths. They don't have rounded tables. Instead they use the long rectangular tables so it is very hard with the pointy corners to sit inside the booth. They start you off with complimentary warm chips and salsa that's different. The chips were seasoned with a powder. Our salsa was very oily. My husband tried the T&T Smash Burger with potato tots. The burger was kind of average and a bit over cooked and dry. Around TEN MINUTES LATTER my meal was served. I tried the WSKY Teriyaki Salmon that was suppose to come with bell pepper succotash and rice. They did serve a large nice cut of salmon but mine was unusually hot (felt like microwave in my mouth) and a bit over cooked on the ends but much better in the center. I didn't care for the teriyaki sauce because it tasted like chemicals. The vegetables were just like those frozen peas with squishy corn and carrots with added edamame. I guess they were out of bell peppers that might have freshened the flavors. It also came with a large mound of white rice. The server was nice, cheerful, and helpful. Parking was close and easy.

It's as good as the other place! Same decor, but now with free chips and salsa and a few more Mexican dishes.

They are located on the side of a strip mall in North Las Vegas so parking is easy. They started us off with complimentary chips and pretty good roasted smokey salsa. I tried the Pollo Asada and a Golden Cadillac Margarita. The margarita was pretty good and pretty strong. The pollo asada was an enormous plate of food. The chicken was marinated and was pounded as thin as a lasagna noodle. One end came out dried up. It was good on the one end. The chicken was topped with mixed frozen-type vegetables (peas, corn, carrots, green beans) To the side was rice and fajita type vegetables. I think my favorite part of the plate was the fajita type vegetables. They gave me a good amount of them too and I let my husband have some. He enjoyed them with the Chile Verde. Service was average. They forgot to bring water and silverware but we eventually got them. Pretty average experience. Not the best but also not the worst either. You certainly can do worst in this area. 3 stars is a positive experience that translates to A-OK on Yelp.

My friend Dana said, "Hey, there's a local restaurant near me that I go to all the time... and…read morethey're having a FREE BBQ Saturday night!" Free BBQ?!? It didn't take much to twist my husband's arm... though we weren't 100% that this would be anything much... because, as my husband said, "Nothing's free... and what do they get out of it? and how are they doing this... in this economy?" We arrived promptly at 4PM, because we knew it was "first come first served"... they had a DJ and a TON of games, raffles, free alcoholic beverages, swag (tshirts, beer cozies, pins, stickers, custom-designed etched wine glasses), various stations of fun activities... and... the entire restaurant was part of this... So of course we sat our party of 5 at a table in the main restaurant section... and proceeded to... order full meals and drinks from the menu. Listen, the prices are RIGHT, the food looked incredible, and technically they weren't going to serve the BBQ until 5:30... so... we figured we'd have an hour and a half to digest. I ordered a salad though... because I was dead set on some ribs or pulled pork or something... BBQ-y. My husband ordered the BLT with tater tots, and others in our party ordered sandwiches, fried raviolis, among other items like martinis, lemonade. Our waitress was so attentive and darling, really took care of us the entire time. At 5:30 the BBQ happened. Myself and one other from our party were ready, whilst everyone else had already had their fill with the menu items. But boy did they regret the fact that there was no more room in their bellies... because the BBQ spread was INCREDIBLE: A full salad with all the fixings, RIBS (!!), hamburgers (full size, wonderful patties!), hot dogs (delicious!), chili, mac'n'cheese, watermelon... my goodness it was an immense spread. And all was cooked superbly! And again, plenty of free alcohol as well. As I spoke to the other locals around the BBQ, I kept hearing exactly what my friend Dana said, "We live 5 minutes away... we come here ALL the time... we LOVE this place!" The vibe was COMMUNITY-CENTERED... it was obvious... and as the raffle winners were called, the entire place exploded into claps and whistles as each of the winners' names were called. Golden Knights jerseys, golf caddies, backpacks... it was all soo lovely, but those prizes were just icing on the cake... a "cake" consisting of a true LOCAL restaurant and it's COMMUNITY... each expressing their support for each other. My husband and I were floored. And humbled to see the entire event play out.... something you don't see enough of anymore. May Summit Tavern continue to enjoy their success in the neighborhood, and may other establishments learn from Summit Tavern's success! And THANK YOU... for a wonderful evening, Summit Tavern staff and all who made the night truly special.

I intended to take the pizza home because I love leftover pizza. The wings are fried and we got the lemon pepper flavor. The wings were decent. Some were overfried but most were good. I had one piece of pizza just to see how it was. The happy hour deal comes as a plain cheese pizza so I added pepperoni. The pizza was very good. Plenty of cheese, a nice crust and it was a good size. Glad I got it. My wife liked her pretzels, noting that they seemed fried instead of baked. She likes baked better but these were not bad. They come with cheese and honey mustard. My main meal was the tacos. I ordered 2 beef and 1 chicken as they come in 3. Inside the taco is your selected meat, cheese, lettuce and salsa on the side. I preferred the beef tacos over the chicken. The beef was very tender and flavorful. The chicken was shredded and a bit dry. My wife ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and she said it was very good. Her chicken was tender and juicy. She said she would order it again. This place has Coca-Cola products which I appreciate. They even have Coke Zero! We do plan on returning and trying other menu items. The atmosphere is rustic themed. The place is non smoking which is another big plus. The restrooms were very clean and the service was great.
