Revisited this restaurant after reopened. The building was restored to pretty similar to the original building before the fire. Food was great. We ordered blue cheese mushroom burger, chicken tenders and whisky cake. Overall food and services were great ! I liked their burger bun. It has little sweet taste to it. They also make homemade fries. I also took their famous beer bread to go. It is a must try. read more

The food was okay, but the drinks were definitely disappointing. Ordered a mimosa and got what look and tasted like just a glass of OJ. Any amount of champagne in there was flat, which should have been where I learned, but I next asked for a mimosa with just a little orange juice. I got back a small glass of that and champagne was definitely completely flat. Really not good. We got the poblano peppers which were okay but did lack flavor. Recently my husband and I purposely avoided the lunch crowd and got there a little after 1:30 PM. We ordered 1/2 loaf of beer bread and onion rings as an appetizer. We kept waiting and waiting on the bread. It's never a good sign about your waitress when someone else not only brings your appetizer out, but also your entrée. Katelynn was busy talking to another table. When we ordered, I had asked her for regular butter instead of honey butter. Of course we got the wrong butter. Katelynn finally came to the table. I told her about the batter. She went to get regular butter and brought out a small plastic cup with a scoop of rock hard cold butter. I couldn't even spread it on the bread. The onion rings were good, but not as many as I thought we would get for the price. Of course five minutes later here comes our entrées. Our burgers were good. Nothing special. I thought they would be a little more chargrilled tasting. They definitely need to get some ripe tomatoes. I'm glad I went because I haven't seen it since the renovation. Very nice on the inside. We are part of a National Soccer team (ages 13-14) that goes to many restaurants across the US. A parent from the team was recommended this place for our girls and their parents. We had to move our reservation multiple times but they accommodated our needs based on the soccer games and schedules. We had a full table of girls and a full table of parents. A large group. WIth that said, we were shocked on how fast the appetizers and our food came out and the food was fantastic. The service fro Bradley and Taylor were off the chains too. Bradley gave the girls a haunted tour upstairs. We definitely will be back. Our team was happy and impressed. With large groups, it's hard to keep people happy, but this group kept everyone happy. Even one of the girls said to the parents, "they just kept brining me drinks without me having to ask!" LOL, now that's great service! Only complaint I have would be the burger was slightly overcooked to my liking and I asked for Medium but that's okay... the service was EPIC. read more

Have to say visited today for first time since before the fire and was disappointed. First disappointment was sharing of the bathrooms with both genders. 2nd disappointment was fish platter came with only one piece of fish (which equates to 1/2 of a fish) and French fries for $14. If we substituted fries for green beans it would have been $2 more....although there was only a $.25 difference on the menu. Our waitress was lovely and pleasant. We've been patiently waiting for them to reopen and I was so excited to go tonight as I had a craving for Chicken Fried Steak and fried pickles. The staff that we encountered was very friendly, and the plates of food we saw looked wonderful, but unfortunately we also noticed several tables that weren't socially distanced so we turned around and walked out. I came home and looked at photos on their facebook page, and one patron had taken a pic of the kitchen area...not sure if she realized it but she captured a kitchen worker holding plates of food with his mask sitting on his chin/neck, instead of covering his mouth/nose. I'm made a vow not to eat at establishments that disregard the simplest of COVID guidelines. So unfortunately, I'm crossing Wunsche Bros. off my list of restaurant options for now. read more

Having been a patron of this place on and off over the last 29 years I have been especially drawn to the newest post fire space, a great blending of casual modern while honoring it's hundred plus year old past..I have dined there four or five times over the last few years; each occasion brought some level of disappointment, sometimes the slow or lackadaisical service, small issues with an order, or just an overall sense of poor organization trickling down.. Then there was today, my hopes realized for this cherished historic place..from the greeters to the server, the kitchen manager personally checking in after our meal was served, and again the above and beyond server Jacki, then the manager spent time sharing the new philosophy of team and community focused customer servantry (my word).. Oh and the meal/ my husband had the amazing meatloaf with whipped red potatoes and green beans (comforting and like Mom's and better), I enjoyed the honey braised salmon (smoked over post oak). Even today, as was in 1902, the original beer bread piping hot can't be beaten! I proudly recommend this fantastic treasure of a spot- it boasts a great patio when in season, a nice bar with plenty of seating, a huge projection screen and other nice wide screens if you want a spot to watch a game. Aside- there is a decent craft cocktail menu, and rotating beer selections. I look very forward to returning on a regular basis! read more
