Kung Pao Chicken lunch special
Kevin C.

The place looks amazing - very well decorated. The kung pao chicken was pretty good. The fried rice was dry. We also tried the Sweet Heart roll which sounded good. However it was so soaked in sauce that even after scraping off the sauce you still couldn't taste anything but the sauce

The place is huge. They have a very very big entrance area that includes the check-in and a lot of waiting area. The decor is very good. I was handed a pager that will prompt me when my table is ready. I was just simply taking pictures of the waiting area by the time the table was ready. We were served with edamame two bowls as a complimentary item, we ordered Sapporo beer and that actually went really good with the edamame. It's funny when we ask for more edamame. They said it is a charge of six dollars which at least they were honest enough upfront that there will be a charge so we ordered one edamame more in food we ordered 1. Vegetable fried rice. 2. Penang curry. 3. Noodles. 4. And spicy tofu. Everything came in big dish plates. Two of them came with a serving spoon and two without when we asked for two serving spoons. They said we don't have more. I thought they are not understanding our question so we asked another server that we need a serving spoon like the other two and they said yes we are out of it on their dirty and we don't have more so apparently we were serving our two items with forks. The food was OK not great. Penang curry was really good. Since everything was served in large dish plates, the food got cold so fast I think having a ball would keep the food warm. They have a lot of hibachi tables. We will probably try hibachi next time as I'm a fan of a very hot food so I will be able to eat something right off the cooking grill We also ordered veggie tempura, which was OK and sweet potato and veggie rolls. The sweet potato rolls were really good.

We were excited to hear about a new restaurant opening in the area. We decided to check it out on Friday during their opening week. We were surprised to see that it's in a standalone building, and the interior is huge - one side with hibachi grills, middle has a sushi bar, and another side is a dining room. The ambiance of the place is quite lively. We checked in with the hostess as we called earlier to make a reservation for a group of 5 people. We were shown to a booth. Upon checking out the menu, there were more than hibachi and sushi, there were menu for Asian fusion dishes. Because we have a kid at the table, we ordered King Crab Rangoon. Main course, we ordered Pad See Ew, Pineapple Chicken, and Thai Basil Shrimp. One of the adults has Gluten allergy, and the server mentioned that Hibachi menu or Sushi can accommodate modification, so a hibachi option of Fillet Mignon and Lobster with fried rice was also ordered. Here's my summary in the dining room section only during their opening week. We didn't experience the hibachi side. 1) Overall food - average. - Crab Rangoon: the kid at the table rejected it after first bite and after checking the interior of the wrapper wasn't cooked thoroughly so it appeared undercooked. We did send back. Instead, we replaced it with Gyoza. - Hibachi dish: Lobster was slightly overcooked, the fillet wasn't a good quality, and the fried rice was too buttery. - Pineapple chicken: good. There was no thick batter, instead it was a very light coating. - Thai Basil Shrimp; This is flavorful. Shrimp was cooked just right. - Pad See Ew: good. The noodle might be slightly overcooked as it was softer than other pad see ew I had. 2) Service was good. Our server was attentive. 3) Ambiance of the restaurant was very lively. We could hear some drumming from the other side of the room, assuming there was some sort of entertainment. I hope overtime, it will work out some of the quality issues.

Checked in with my family and as soon as we got their the restaurant had a lot of space and the wait time wasn't bad. Thank goodness for reserving. We experienced the sit down and not the hibachi and must say decent experience. Had their oreo creme brulee bubble tea, spicy salmon roll, and godzilla roll and it was decent portions and delicious. The atmosphere was modern to asian and love ghe separation with the oriental style walls and bonzai and cherry blossom trees. Service is as expected and could've been more better especially as it got busier. Waited a few minutes to get drinks, chopstick helpers. Gave us dipping cups and not dipping trays for the sushi.

Great presentation and delicious!

Went back this time for sushi! Again delicious. Great service and will be back soon

Pangang Curry/Vegetable

4 of us. We sat in the dining room. The NOISE from the Hibachi side, the DRUMMING was RIDICULOUS! The coconut shrimp appetizer was TERRIBLE. It was mostly breadcrumbs and very little coconut, the texture was BAD, no flavor but that was okay, because we couldn't get past the texture.. The vegetable egg roll was good. The Pangang curry was AWEFUL! Sauce was overly cornstarch thick and hardly resembled a flavor of curry. The chicken Pad Thai was a weird sour flavor with weird sweetness. Not good! Service was below average but the food is worse. They add 18% gratuity so service doesn't *have* to be good. We came, we saw, we tried it. Zero reason to return.

Outstanding experience, amazing food and the people are so great! We loved the design of restaurant, the cherry blossoms trees made you feel like you are in Japan. The food was truly exceptional!!!! And the hibachi experience is the best experience we had at any other restaurant!!! Highly recommend this restaurant. We went there on Sunday after Valentines Day so it was less crowded which made our experience even better. Must try this place. And don't go alone!

Alright! We went back for the second time, and it just gets better and better! This time I had a peartini then a lychee martini both freaking amazing. We had pad see eiw and because my husband does not like very sweet foods. We asked them to omit the sweet, soy sauce and it came made perfectly! All of the sushi is incredible! We had a variety so whatever you love usually, go with it!

A great spot for photos

Food delicious, service excellent and beautiful place. Recommendations for great photo spots

This is the sign they expect you to see as you walk in. 18% service charge added to your ticket.
B K.

The sweet potato sushi and soup was amazing. After tipping our hibachi cook $30 cash, we received the bill with "18% service charge" We spoke to three different representatives at the restaurant to discuss the options as we didn't feel double dipping was appropriate. The restaurant staff solution was to take the cash back from the cook. We ended up paying the full amount as they would not remove it. We won't be back. If you look at the previous picture, I posted it doesn't say 18% gratuity. It says 18% service charge. No thank you feels like a sucker punch. The owners need to rethink their greedy business model.

The dining room is really pretty, and well-appointed! We were seated right away by friendly staff. Looking around, this appeared to be a very family-friendly establishment, as that was, by far, the most prominent type of connoisseur in the house on this evening! Our waitress was wonderful, and helped us with some recommendations upon us letting her know it was our first visit! She checked in with us frequently, and made sure drinks were always refilled promptly! We had a bunch of different items, and all were very good! We tried sushi rolls, beef noodles, and ramen. I'd have to say that the beef noodles probably were the best item for me! Prices were just about as you'd expect: not too high, but not super cheap either...but wholly justified by the great food and lovely service and experience! We walked into a casual, cozy space with a smaller dining area that can feel busy during peak hours, but the atmosphere stays simple and focused on the food rather than a polished dining experience. The setup works well for a place centered around a warm bowl of noodles, where the attention stays on what is in the bowl rather than what is on the walls. The ramen is the main reason to visit, especially the signature Kitakata-style noodles. The noodles have a thicker, springy texture that gives each bowl a satisfying bite, and the broths are where the restaurant stands out. We tried the Spicy Miso Ramen, which brought a deeper, richer flavor with a noticeable kick, and the Green Chili Shio Ramen, which offered a lighter but still flavorful option with a cleaner broth profile. The balance between the noodles, broth, and toppings made the bowls feel thoughtfully put together rather than just another standard ramen option. The toppings were generous and the eggs were cooked well, adding a creamy richness that tied the bowl together. Beyond ramen, the sides are worth adding to the meal. We ordered the pan-fried gyoza, which came out with a crisp exterior and a juicy filling, making it one of the stronger starters to share. The karaage also added variety if you want something beyond noodles, with a crispy coating that held up without being greasy. The menu has enough options for different preferences, including vegetarian ramen choices that do not feel like an afterthought. Because of its popularity, waits can happen, especially during dinner hours and weekends. Joining the waitlist ahead of time is a good idea if you are planning around a specific schedule. The restaurant moves with a steady pace once seated, and the service generally matches the casual style of the space. The staff handle the flow efficiently, and even when the dining room is full, the pace of the meal stays comfortable without feeling rushed. Kitakata Ramen Ban Nai is a strong ramen destination for anyone looking for flavorful broths, well-textured noodles, and comforting Japanese dishes. The spicy ramen options and pan-fried gyoza are highlights, making it a place worth visiting when you want a satisfying bowl rather than just a quick noodle stop. The quality of the broth and the texture of the noodles make it a step above the average ramen spot, delivering a meal that feels complete and well considered.

I believe we ate lunch on a weekday. The service was ok, a few of the items we wanted to order were not available. Their sushi chef was not there that day, so no sushi was available to order, along with one or two other entrees we wanted to order. The food was average, nothing that stood out as great or exceptionally bad. The one thing I remembered thinking positively was the curry chicken rice plate. The curry sauce was good. The chicken wasn't the traditional breaded chicken cutlet, rather pieces of chicken karage, which was good. I don't know if it would be fair to say we'd never go back to try again, but we do have places we really like near by, so it isn't likely we're going back anytime soon.

My family and I had been wanting to go to this location for a while and a recent weeknight presented a perfect opportunity to check out this establishment. Located in a small plaza in front of the Westin hotel, this Chicago Ramen is a nice little spot for grabbing a delicious bowl (or two) of ramen. Upon our arrival, we were seated promptly. Our friendly server provided the menus and shortly after was ready to take our order; however, we were not ready yet and took a bit longer to order. The menu was a condensed version of what I have seen at the Des Plaines location. There were six Ramen options, a handful of appetizers, extra toppings options, and beverage options. Also, there was a Ramen special menu and a Kids menu. A few minutes later, we placed our order of 1) Edamame, 1) Karage, 2) Shrimp Wonton Ramen, and 1) White Miso Ramen. The apps of Edamame and Karage came out soon and the ramen bowls followed shortly. The Karage were freshly cooked. The Karage were chunky, meaty and plump chicken nuggets. The meat was juicy and tender, and they were lightly battered. The flavor was decent and the texture was okay. I felt that a bit more frying would have helped it taste better. My Shrimp Wonton Ramen was the start dish for me. It was everything I wanted as far as the flavor of the broth and the texture of the noodles, shrimp, and wonton were concerned. The broth was hot and fresh. It had a nice savory flavor and I added some of the table side condiments for extra umami and spicy taste. The noodles were of the right texture where they had body and good slurp-a-bility factor without being soggy and sloppy. The White Miso Ramen was a nice creamy and rich broth that came loaded w/ cuts of pork that were tender. It was also delicious. I enjoyed my bowl of ramen a lot and managed to finish it instead of having leftovers. It hit the spot perfectly. We had a good experience and would go back. If you haven't been to this spot, then definitely check them out.
