We had Comcast Xfinity and even though it was a "premium" speed, Streaming Netflix, Hulu...etc. was very slow and often re-buffered, and general searching on the internet was slow too. We finally had enough and actually ended up switching to a slower and less expensive speed with Frontier, as recommended by the Frontier rep. It has been working amazingly. Why does the "slower" speed of Frontier work much better than the faster, premium, and more expensive speed that Comcast insisted we needed for what we use internet for? Somebody is lying. read more

Well, it's disappointing, if not surprising based on other reviews. Comcast failed to live up to the promised package; charging us equipment fees and taxes they had specifically said we wouldn't be charged, a higher amount for installation, not activating our premium channel, and claiming a contract 2x as long. Comcast is a terrible company. I have been a business customer for over 4 years. I found out yesterday that I have been paying $90 a month more than the service is worth because I was on an old contract. The rep told me that the plan changed at the beginning of the year so that is over $600 that I overpaid by being a loyal customer. I asked why the plan did not automatically change, they said it was my responsibility to call in every 6 months and check. Well as a small business owner I have enough on my plate to do and calling Comcast is not high on my list. Oh and by the way to find out this information I have to be transferred 4 times. I find the service is good, but when I was sold the service I was quoted a price that was inaccurate to say the least by the rep. The original price was suppose to be 150.00 total and when I received my first bill it was 170.00. The salesman said the price would not increase more than 20.00 a year after the first year. I am now paying 208.00 for the same service a year later. Figure that out. That is a 58.00 increase after a year, not 20.00 as promised. When I called the billing center, she just blew smoke and mirrors, saying that I needed proof and of course the rep. did not write down what he had promised in the sale. We went it to return our cable box and talk to someone about being over charged last month. Lady returns our stuff and said we are good to go. Person named Roki said that our account is cancelled so we cannot do anything about being over charged. She then pulls out our bill and tried to make sense of the overcharge, but eventually says we can not do anything about it. Terrible office. I called support and was told to bring my broken modem into this office. Despite my problem already being in the system and just needing someone to swap modems with me I had to wait behind several other people and was told I should have come early in the morning. I came as soon as my modem broke, so unless I wanted to spend the rest of the day and night without Internet service coming early in the morning was not an option. People that go to an office immediately after being directed to by phone support should get priority service. read more

Comcast is now imposing a fee of $9.95 if you own your own modem and will not supply them with a receipt to show when and where you purchased it. They refuse to provide information on where to send the receipt. This is fraudulent, illegal. In addition, they are charging me for an IP address that I did not approve for $19.95. Check your Comcast bills. I despise them. I do not recommend them. They hire the most incompetent people. They are untrained, rude and aggressive. I have been on hold for 45 min for a supervisor... whom I sure will never appear and when they finally do... I'm sure they will just ignorant as the last twenty people I've spoken with. Comcast is so disorganized and poorly managed that their guarantees of a 2 hour service windown and "seamless" transfer of service are cruel jokes. We recently moved to the Portland area from Chicago and were stood up TWICE with no one even bothering to call us with an apology or to reschedule. When the person finally arrived to set up our service, he was unable to complete the job because of some internal mix up with switching our service. We did all of the calling, waiting, and paying. Comcast still has not delivered us anything but a bill. If they were not a monopoly, they would be in bankruptcy court where they belong. The employees themselves are all very friendly and professional, but they are holding up a crumbling giant. Before moving to OR, paid my last bill and turned my equipment in, getting a confirmation number for the former and a receipt for the latter. Today I received a letter stating that because my $8.70 final payment was 'returned,' I now owe $33 and change. I never rec'd word from Comcast since making that payment three weeks ago, nor have I rec'd notice from my bank stating an overdraft of any kind - at any time. AVOID THIS COMPANY! Every month I was with them their bill had extra or incorrect charges. Each time I got on the phone I was switched to at least 2 -3 times to different departments, and was generally on the phone about an hour. I was quoted a price when I originally signed up with them (which is why I chose them for the low price) but then when I saw my bill and called to correct what I thought was an error, they said they couldn't honor that price, that the person gave me the wrong information. After looking for any other possible internet option, and realizing there was absolutely none...I called Xfinity. My house was a business they said. No it's not. Yes it is. No it's not. They said, we can start an investigation that will take at least a week. So I thought maybe the local people can help. I walked into the Sandy Blvd location (old Hollywood video store) and it was so nice. The guy at the reception desk, was friendly and quickly took my name to put me in line. My name was called after about 10 minutes. With one super fast phone call, my house was a house again (owner from 10 years ago ran a business here apparently). He gave me my options and I picked 75mbps which was the same price I saw online (that the website said I couldn't get because I was a business). My installation was scheduled for the next week. Today the serviceman came. He was professional --even wore booties when walking on my carpet--and put the cable exactly where I asked. My speed is faster than ordered so far on both my Ethernet connected desktop and my WiFi connected laptop. I wish I would have done this years ago. If you do, I recommend going into the local office and buying your own equipment -- research for the best modem and routers, makes a world of difference. read more

Have to agree with most others - generally a very unpleasant experience when I go there. The wait can be long. They don't seem to differentiate between the type of service needed. Two times when I went to drop off equipment I had to wait while a dozen or more other people went to negotiate their bill. How about having two lines - one for those of us just returning stuff. We just need you to scan a bar code, take the equipment, and print a receipt. Or how about having a kiosk where I can scan it, return it, and get a receipt? The business model feels like it's stuck in 1986. Not sure if they are unwilling or unable to evolve - either way I'm moving on. read more

I upgraded my cable box and what comcast sent didn't include a coax splitter. Rather than spend $20 at radio shack for some piece of junk I thought I'd stop by this service center and get the one comcast actually uses, hopefully for free. Yes, I'd read the reviews and was not looking forward to this trip. That said, I had a great experience. After a very long-term hatred of comcast's world-renowned customer "dis"service, my trusty roomate set out to transfer our internet over to him. I jokingly said that we should punch eachother in the face just so anything that happened here would seem better by comparison. Bracing ourselves for the worst, we walk in and are immediately greeted by smiling happy check-in people who put us in the queue for service. We are directed to the beautifully remodeled (naturally lit) comfortable waiting area, and after 10 minutes we are called, served perfectly in a friendly manner and leave the store having achieved our goal. Person at store said multiple times that the process would only take 5-10 minutes, but refused to help me even though it seemed like his sole job is holding the door. Once I was finally helped it took less than 10 minutes! Easily a process that wasted my time. Wish I could get that time back. I was absolutely thrilled with my experience at this place. Had weeks of frustrating, dead end experiences with comcast over the phone, so decided to hit this place up in person and it couldn't have gone better. From the door guy to the associate helping me, service was easy, straight forward and super friendly to boot. In less than 30 minutes, my issue was complete resolved. It's unfortunate that one can call into customer service and be told one thing only to get to the store and be told an entirely different story. In fact I worked with two different people and the first individual said at the door that I couldn't upgrade my phone without even looking at my account. I persisted and she then looked up my account and told me I could upgrade but there would be a fee; so I opted out. Then came back about a half hour later after thinking about it and decided I'd do it. I worked with someone else who shouldn't be working with the public because his attitude was terrible; he seemed miserable and didn't even attempt to just put a positive face on. The manager of this store should be ashamed. I'm glad his attitude caused me to think again about doing business with xfinity because I'll be going back to my prior carrier. read more

Slow internet, terrible new screen menus, outsourced online help that transfers you from chat room to chat room and then still can't help you and transfers you again. We adjust our Comcast service pretty regularly and I have always had good customer service - friendly, articulate service people who sounded like they were down the street from me and helped me understand my options. Service is for the most part good, although, the internet at times is glitchy and seems overloaded slow and sporadic. That being said Xfinity has absolutely no CUSTOMER SERVICE what so ever. I called when I could not get internet AFTER replacing their modem with one of their new modems. The first agent ran tests and said everything appeared to be working so I'd have to contact "advanced technical support". I actually doubt they exist. She said she couldn't connect me and that I had to call back. ONCE out of the next four or five calls I was put on hold for 20 minutes only to hear them answer and then immediately get cut off. Called back and after being put on hold for about 20 minutes, and being then being denied speaking to a supervisor, I was connected to a recording saying technical support was not available please call back. Next when I asked to speak to a supervisor I listened to a phone ring for 20 minutes, then music and nothing. It was summed up when I gathered all my stuff up and turned it in to close my account. I told the agent I turned my modem into their service was okay, but, their customer service was non existent. Her response was, "Yup, I understand" without batting an eye lash. She placed my modem on top of a heap behind the counter. Obviously, I was not the only person turning in equipment that day. Xfinity is a large enough company that they apparently don't feel the need to provide good customer service. read more

I have to admit--I dread dealing with Comcast. Nothing is ever simple and you usually feel like coming out of the process a little slimy. Not this time. Worked with a great associate named Jesse who got my Comcast service transferred, was empathetic, and provided a good course of action for my comcast service. He really worked with me in getting the right subscription and while I got cable initially, he assured me that Comcast honored the 30 day money back guarantee if it wasn't right for me. He did not mislead me, and I was able to disconnect cable without incurring a fee. If more of my experiences are like this (and with a consistent customer experience and price offering) I might not consider dropping Comcast the minute Google Fiber comcast. Good service is actually making me consider using them for home security! read more
