This is DEFINITELY not as good as what we expected. The soul of the hot oil spread noodles is the pepper. It doesn't really have the pepper scent , which makes the hot oil spread noodles lose its soul. The lamb Pao Mo, or pita bread soaked in lamb soup is way too plain. I go to Asia alot and always marvel at the options just from the food court, Seattle is no where near that but the options are getting better and Xian is a good new addition. In the new food court in Westlake center, it's pretty easy location to get for most downtown worker. There are a lot of tables in the food court so seating isn't a issue. There is a pretty limited menu only a few types of noodles and some other appetizers. It did take a bit for them to get the food out especially for fast food but it just opened so it can be improved. Got the the biang biang noodles with pork burger. The noodles was good with great texture and the broth was flavorful though though it didn't have alot of meat. If you don't mind crowds then come at noon and watch the craziness unfold. Don't expect Din Tai Fung or Dough Zone service. It's equivalent to Dim Sum King in Chinatown. This is a no-frills noodle shop perfect for students and shoppers on the go. I caught a bus up to Westlake Mall. You can also take the light rail since Westlake Station is fairly easy to get to. I had difficulty navigating my way to Xi'an Noodles since I came from the mall's south entrance. The escalators were out of service. If you don't have mobility constraints then enter through the west side of the mall on 4th Ave near Wells Fargo and walk up the stairs otherwise you'll be using an elevator that's slow as ... I spent about 25 minutes total time. The demand is too high right now. It's a small open kitchen and they can only do so much in limited space grinding out orders. Line up on the right. Pick up on the left where people have their receipt in hand. They have a number queue LED board above the register in case you can't hear them yell your receipt number. I brought my food back to work and shared the Pork and Shrimp Dumplings, Rice Noodles in Chicken Broth and Spring Rolls with some co-workers. The flavors were mild. I didn't think I needed condiments but I highly recommend it if you're taking your food to go. Their condiments bar is set up like a Mexican Salsa Bar or a Menchie's Froyo Bar allowing you to customize your meal. Know your limits. Like another reviewer said, they don't provide soup spoons. It's weird they don't have this important utensil like other noodle and soup shops in Chinatown. The noodles are long. Surprisingly good. I usually avoid mall food but was in need of something quick and wanted to satisfy a noodle craving. Got their flagship lamb dry noodles which pretty good, lamb was flavorful and cooked well, noodls are fresh (I like mine a little thinner but they were decent), and has some veggies/fresh herbs. I think you need to add a little soy and chili oil to make the noodles not eat so dry. Pretty good portion for $15. Would go back if needing something quick when shopping. read more

I'm a frequent at the U District location, but I'm glad there's this location that opened up for whenever I'm downtown. Located on the second level of Westlake Center, this spot is serving up an even more casual version of the hand-pulled noodles that the other locations are known for. I came here with some coworkers on our Friday lunch break, and it was busy to say the least. I ordered the Mount Q Pork Noodles and Spicy Wontons, which totaled to a little less than $20 - a little pricier than the other locations. I got my food within $10 minutes of waiting, but my coworker had to wait around 20 mins for his wontons, which is too long for a fast-casual place like this. The noodles were just like the ones I get from the U District location - nice and chewy, tons of flavor, tolerable spice level. The wontons though, felt very watered down in the chili soup? I was expecting more of a chili oil-based sauce, but seems like I got a wontons in a watered-down chili soup instead. There are a bunch of tables for you to dine at immediately in front of the restaurant, along with a few more by Caliburger next door. Be aware that it'll get pretty packed during the lunch rush. Overall, food was decent, just a bit pricey. And the wait times are little too long, but since this place just opened, I think they're still ironing out these kinks to operate efficiently. I still prefer going to the U District location, but if I'm ever downtown and am craving hand-pulled noodles, this will do the job. Update: tried the Beef Biang noodles without soup and springrolls. This is one popular place now. I stopped at lunch last week and there was no line but it's a different story this week. The wait to get my food took a while but they were very busy so I'm OK with it. It basic cafeteria style with the condiments on the side next to the counter. I tried Mount Q Pork Noodles an they were very spicy as expected. U thought the pork was a little tough but my friends scarfed their's right gown. The noodles are massive but tasty Seating seemed to be a problem for the volume of customers going through but that will most likely die down after the initial hype is over. It was mixed with bits of cucumber, tofu and bean sprouts. All for $6.99 small bowl. The pork bun was served on toasted flat bread. The spice level wasn't super hot. The flavor for the noodles was somewhat lacking, but dipping it into the chili sauce from the wontons added some flavor, but that's only a temporary solution. Overpriced food, small portions, disorganized staff & lousy service - I used their impersonal touch screen to place and pay for my order, but they somehow lost my order. I waited about 30 minutes for my order, and then, they seemed to get annoyed and disinterested when I called them on it. The cashier insisted that I had already taken my order to my table. Luckily, the screen still showed that the order wasn't even ready which made her claim that I had already taken my order even more bizarre. Hi, Lily: I am really torn writing this review of your downtown Seattle store, in Westlake Center. The taste of my lamb noodles is always GREAT. However, every time I order this dish, I get diarrhoea! I think it is because I have what I call "The Western Gut". I think my system just cannot handle something in the food, although again my food has always tasted good. I wish that every time I ordered it my system did not reject it. Decent lunch option in Downtown Seattle but not the best affordable Szechuan food I've ever had and definitely inconsistent execution amongst the three times I've been here. If you're in the mood for this style of lunch, I'd try it, but pro tip would be to try to arrive by 11:45 at the latest or wait until after 1:30 to avoid a long line and very crowded eating area. I would recommend getting the Biang Noodles (I like the beef best but any of the meat options are fine) which are wider noodles with meat that's a bit spicy, but less oily than some of their other dishes. It's a good portion size for the price, but depending on the day there will also be either a moderate or large amount of sliced onions in the dish too. I like that there's a condiment bar that you can generously help yourself from while you wait, which includes fresh scallions, cilantro, various chili oils, and sauces that can add even more flavor to your lunch. Though, I do find that without the addition of these to the dishes that they lack the flavor depth that I would expect. I would not recommend the cumin lamb biang noodles - these are thin noodles that are served in what felt like a literal bowl of oil - less texture and meat than the wider noodles and I felt really gross after eating these. My dining companion seemed to enjoy hers (she almost ate it like a noodle soup) but I couldn't get past the slippiness of the oil it came in. read more

I had to go to the spice bar (that was actually a good idea and the saving grace) to load up on cilantro, green onions, vinegar and whatever else was there to make the food semi-ejoyable.
