Great food, great drinks and first Friday Jazz is great as well. The bar had a ceiling of balloons that makes for a great ambiance.

So this place is a long-term local favorite... You could totally tell. And not quite sure if people…read morehave become loyal because of location or because of the specials such as prime rib and really great hearty meals... But I can tell you your breakfast was very traditional. Nothing super exotic or trendy. I'm a Southern girl so I was looking forward to getting country fried steak, gravy and eggs... They're country fried steak is a special that's named after the owner or one of its friends or something... And all it is is steak and gravy... Kind of interesting for a breakfast dish. No eggs. And was one of the most expensive meals so adding eggs would have really put it over the top for breakfast. So I elected to go with a variation of hash browns that I'm accustomed to getting the south from waffle House... Scattered, diced which means tomatoes, and covered which means slice of cheese. Although they restrict the ability to buy beer and wine in grocery stores in Pennsylvania, there is no restriction on when you can get a alcoholic beverage like there is in the south... Bloody Mary with breakfast at 9:00 a.m.. there was a long line to wait for a table so my friend who's the local went to the other entrance for the package store and saw there was ample room at the bar so that's where we went. We split an omelette and got some bacon on the side. The bacon was clearly oven baked and extremely crispy and is barely flavorful. The waitress was nice and attentive at the bar. And she had the southern charm of calling us honey and sweetie even though she was younger than us. My friend says she used to come by there often when her kids were younger or for their weekly specials. It's a large restaurant so plenty of tables in the traditional space. And I guess because of not having extra weight stuff they didn't encourage sitting in the bar... We sat at the bar so had the direct attention of the bartender. You can see from the menu there's lots of options for food which is probably why it's such a popular place.

Local Monroeville flavor. Big portions... and just that hometown dive that every town needs!!…read more Being Gateway alumni, there is something nostalgic about Gateway Grill. Circling the small parking lot looking for your spot, reminiscing on the alumni sports team photos on the walls, and doing the twist in the entryway to navigate your way to your takeout, Gateway Grill is not much... but the food is usually fire!!! The pizza slices have big bubbling crusts with pepperoni so rustic cut that you will wonder if they accidentally gave you the whole piece... over and over again. Don't sleep on their meatball pizza. Because you will have basically full size meatballs for every slice... and they are delightful. We had family in and bought a large order - and we opted to try their sandwiches. The Chuck Roast sandwich and Turkey Rachel both sounded delicious... and Gateway Grill does have fresh smoked meats too! Takeout is a trip. In a full restaurant, you have to kinda stand in the way at the front counter and flag down someone to grab your order. But they definitely do a lot of to-go pizzas so you'll be able to handle it. Unfortunately, with their current to-go containers, the sandwiches ended up being sopping wet with condensation... the bottom toasted bread on both was basically dripping instead of crunchy. The fries had lost all texture too- air fryer to the rescue. I'd still recommend going - just stick to only pizza when ordering takeout until they find a way to ensure quality of other options.

First impression was that the color scheme, decorations, and menu all seemed to be dated and uninspired. The staff were polite and attentive. I ordered the salad and Salmon Oscar. The salad was good and the blue cheese dressing I chose was house-made. It was good. My girlfriend got the wedge salad which I think was a bit expensive since it was a $6 up charge for a wedge of iceberg lettuce from the standard salad that came with the entrees. My Salmon Oscar with asparagus was very good. I enjoyed every bite of the salmon and crab. My daughter's chicken parm came with a ton of linguini. My girlfriend got the signature crab cakes which she said were mostly crab and not filler. So while I thought the menu was dated when reading it the food was well executed.

Hadn't been here for two years but we were across the street buying a new recliner at Lazy Boy so…read morewe headed over for lunch. First the good news. My wedding soup and my husband's French onion soup were delicious. The wedding soup was loaded with meatballs and chicken. My husband has a thing for French onion soup and tries it every chance he gets. He said this may have been the best ever. We split a Reuben sandwich and upgraded to onion rings. The waitress brought us each a half portion so we didn't have to divide it ourselves, which was nice. There was plenty of meat on the sandwich, making it acceptable, not great but good enough. Onion rings were very good. Dessert sounded tempting, a cherry crème brûlée. It was okay, kind of like cherry jello with a sugar crust on top. A bit disappointing to say the least. Our waitress was on top of filling the water glasses and was very nice. Now for the bad news and why I'm only giving 3 stars. I went to the ladies room before eating and there was no hot water to wash my hands. I asked my husband if the men's room had hot water and he said no. We both let it run but it never got hot, not even warm. Then I noticed (after drinking several glasses of water unfortunately) that there was a crack in my water glass. I mentioned it to my husband and he said, "you should see the chips in the glass tabletop over her on my side". I get it that wear and tear happens, but these things should be caught before serving guests. And as far as the hot water...how do servers and kitchen workers properly clean their hands after using the toilet without hot water? So the food is fairly solid and reasonably priced. But be on the lookout for chipped glassware and table tops. And use your own hand sanitizer if you have it!

Expansive menu of flavors with options for everyone and outstanding service!…read more Monroeville has been waiting for new options and Plaza Azteca is definitely meeting and exceeding expectations. Renovating the old King's building and now packing out the parking lot almost every single night of the week. From the floral photo wall out front to the gorgeous modern interior.. it is amazing to see a business owner taking pride in their building and doing everything they can to invite the community! The menu adds to that. Tons of meats and every Mexican option possible. Plus a well done kids menu and à la carte options for the picky eaters too. We ordered meals for six people right at lunch on a weekend and the food was prepared in under 20 minutes. Everything was so well packed for to go with generous portions. Plus they added in chips and salsa made everyone happy!! Takeout is right at the hostess stand and the bags were already full ready for a quick and easy pickup. Only tip - they don't take a name or give you a number for your takeout pickup, so you just come in and start describing your order!!

Their plantain appetizer was to die for and I though their Birria tacos were great, just wish they used white onion instead of purple and ratcheted up the cilantro and crispiness.
