This place is a little piece of heaven - so unique with perfectly fresh baked goods and the friendliest staff, in the heart of Oxnard of all places. I walked in an hour before closing on a Sunday not knowing what to get my hands on first (although I knew the guava empanadas were a total hit amongst all the yelpers). The girls there were so helpful!!! I ended up getting a few of the guava empanadas and this amazing guava custardy treat!!! I've had their cafe de hoya and their Chile en aceite! Let me tell you! This stuff is as good as authentic Mexicans make it! If you have never had cafe de hoya, you are missing out! It is has cinnamon and you can drink it hot or cold; it is so delicious! The chile en aceite is amazing! Super cute family business, the type that takes customer service seriously. Very clean, everything look so appealing and smelled delicious. Came here with a craving for a raspado. They customized mine to give me exactly what I wanted, not too sweet. Im glad I did that because when I walked in I noticed the have the one and only thing I do drink that contains sugar: café de olla! ( I am a water and black coffee no milk no sugar person). Genuine café de olla is like an imaginary trip to my grandma's kitchen in Mexico. It had the perfect balance of coffee, cinnamon and piloncillo. Crepes, flan, raspados, coffee...this place is a gem. This place shows that owners truly have pride in what they do. Wow. If you love to support a family owned and operated business while enjoying some delicious sweet treats, then you MUST come and give them a go. I missed the opening day this last Saturday and couldn't wait to try them today. They are good in welcoming you just as they are good at baking. Holy cow, the sample of the apple tart and cheese had me at their mercy!!! Perfectly baked, perfectly sweetened and I could taste the cheese as well. You can order the whole tart or per slice. They make crepes to order with the most delicious toppings. Savory and sweet. I think I'll try the savory next time, it has quesito poblano... yumm. I didn't try them today but someone else had order one ( sweet one) and looked delish. I try for the first time jericaya, which is similar to a flan but not as sweet ( no extra syrup) and tastes more cinnamony. I really liked it. I learned that it originated in Jalisco, where this family is from, invented by some nuns ages ago. This tidbit of historical info way a nice touch to learn about what you're eating. Coming home back to Oxnard after living in Azusa made me miss crepe restaurants so much, so I was extremely excited a new cafe opened. Let me tell you, it does not disappoint! I ordered the 3 different crepes and you can tell all the ingredients were fresh and savory! I usually order the typical strawberry/banana/nutelle crepe, but this one takes the cake! The filling is different from what I usually try, but in a good way. It's the right amount of sweet without it being too overbearing. The family that owns this place is extremely nice and welcoming. Once my cousin and I walked in, we were welcomed right away by their staff as well as another costumer! The costumer told us that everything there was delicious and he was right. The place was such a cute space that felt like home. You can feel the that the staff loved what they do and how they do it. I got the Xielo Crepe! Super savory and incredible only because I've never had a crepe that wasn't a sweet dessert type. The Xielo crepe had chicken, spinach, & mushrooms that was topped off with cheese and their Lemon Sauce. The cafe Jesuita is wonderful and the cafe de olla. I have not tried any others. Those are my go to. My daughter loves the Crepes with cajeta, they are quite tasty. I also love their guava empanadas. The only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is due to parking, but it's not their fault. Another reason why 4 stars is because for a cafe they open quite late. 6 or 6:30 would be awesome, but they open until 7:30 and other days at 8. Most people are en route by 7:30 to get to work by 8. And last reason why it's a 4 (should really be 3 star review, but I really like their products) is because the son at the register is straight out an a$$hole. He never greets you with a smile, he has always rushed me saying "would that be all, would that be all?" Looking over my head, not making any eye contact, he has an attitude problem. Super sangron. His dad at the crepe station is nice, with a smile and actually acknowledges you. I'm sure he'll read this and won't give a $hit and continue with his crappy attitude. But whatever, I sometimes rather make the drive to the new honey cup Cafe over at Wagon Wheel. It's a shame because there aren't many Oaxacan coffee shops around with the flavors of mexico. I think that's why he's an a$$ because there are no other coffee shops around like Xielo, so customers will endure his bad customer service. Shame, shame! read more
