Great quick friendly service with tasty food. Love this combo of Mediterranean and Mexican cuisine. They only have outdoor seating in the front with a few tables or you can do takeout. The food is full of flavor and they give generous portions. Definitely coming back! I ordered the chicken tacos and they were delicious! A true gem! The falafel is crispy and fresh, the chicken is rich, the smoky babaghanoush is otherworldly, and the brown salsa just makes everything better. Their rotation of aguas are never overly sugary, and are always super fresh. The brothers running it are master chefs, because they manage to maximize flavor without ever making things greasy or heavy. Service is always quick and friendly too. I've been meaning to hit place up for a bit. Finally went yesterday because I was craving salad. Ended up getting their chicken shwarma plate with no rice double salad. The hubs and I have been trying to go here every time we are in LA but parking was always a challenge so we would leave. Finally, after several tries, we found on site parking and it was on a Saturday around 1pm! We were stoked to say the least. The menu is very straight forward. Prices are fair and food portions are pretty good. We ordered the shawarma chicken pita burrito, the combo platter (with chicken, beef and chorizo) and a side of baba ganoush. The chorizo, had a slight kick to it, but I loved it. It wasn't salty not fatty. It went well in a pita with some veggies and the hummus. The chicken was not dry at all and I also made a wrap out of it. The hubs liked the beef - he said it was tender and flavorful. We liked that the combo came with a salad and some carbs. Sometimes we made little wraps with the pita and sometimes we just ate it as it and either way, all the proteins were delicious. The hummus was pretty legit, as was the baba ganoush, which is my favorite. You couldn't even really tell it was eggplant, it was pretty smooth, with a touch of lemon. The pita was nice because it wasn't very thick so you can easily eat a lot of it without realizing it. I did order a shawarma chicken pita burrito which I had the next day and the pita held up well, as well as everything else inside - fries, pickled veggies, salad fixings. It was delicious with the roasted chipotle salsa (I think it was roasted chipotle) that they Included. Which by the way, had a kick to it but it was too good to not add to every bite of the pita burrito. We also ordered the sandia agua fresca. It wasn't watery and it had great watermelon flavor and chunks. It was also the right amount of sweetness. I appreciated this agua fresca. Overall, I would definitely come back. In between East Los and Boyle Heights is this little place serving up a subtle twist on Mexican and Lebanese food. I visited with a co-worker friend and shared a combo plate and a taco. The portions were large enough to feel full after. The salad was fresh and had a light flavored dressing and the rice was spot on. The meats were well cooked and flavorful. The taco was so good! I was greet it by one of owners he was nice and ask what I like to order I told him the chicken Kabob plate he say good choice and I order can of coke to complete my order. It took about about 10 minutes cooking time,if you come to Xtiosu Kitchen you have wait because the cooking time. He call me that order was ready and I went pick it up at the window wow I say to myself my chicken kabobs looks delicious,I notice something different it comes with home made sauce that's was little bit hot. I took a bit of the rice amazing great flavors soft and fluffy perfectly cook right. The hummus was great totally fresh made with olive oil on top and also spice . Truly great. I love their falafal, tabuleh, baba ganoush, hummus, pickle, green salad and hot sauce. Their chicken and beef kabobs are very good. The chorizo kabob was too dry for me - I like my sausages with more fat. This has become our go-to spot for Mediterranean take-out. Lincoln Heights is a better place because X'Tiosu Kitchen opened there. Right now, this is just a take-out joint, but, they get my orders right and are right on time. Please try it so they can afford to open a sit-down restaurant someday. Street parking is limited, but I have always found a spot in the lot. read more

I discovered this place through one of David Chang's shows on Netflix and it seemed like a really unique idea, so I kept this place in mind for quite some time. On my way to my friend's house, my girlfriend and I stopped here to pick up some bites. We ordered chicken shawarma tacos, a chorizo kebab, and Oaxacan hummus. I wasn't quite sure of what to expect, but the tacos were my first and best move. The tacos were REALLY good! They were completely loaded to the fullest, with meat/accompaniments, but also in flavor too. The pickled turnip helps cut through the richness of the chicken, while the salsa, onions, and cilantro help add a layer of freshness to the mix. To make things even better, the side of sauce really helps elevate every bite with a touch of spice and smokiness. Moving down on the list, the hummus was something my girlfriend absolutely had to try. During our meal, I wasn't initially feeling the hummus, but I also personally don't care for hummus either. However, towards the end of our meal, the hummus was really starting to grow on me. In fact, I kind of regret leaving it at our friend's house. It sounds weird to say, but I kind of want to order the hummus again for closure and to see if it really sparked a new interest for hummus in general. And finally, the chorizo. Perhaps I'm not used to how they make their chorizo, but my girlfriend, our friend, and I found that the chorizo was really dry. It wasn't really pleasant to eat, even with the little mix of onions and herbs. We ate around half and didn't touch it for the rest of our meal. I really tried to like it, but I just couldn't. I don't think I can imagine myself coming back, mostly because we live far away. If I *did* find my way back here, I would absolutely get the tacos and hummus again. Sometimes great food can be found in a small "hole in the wall" and xtiosu is literally a "window " where customers order their dishes. This is the brainchild of 2 brothers from Mexico who worked in Lebanese restaurants . They came up with the idea of combining flavors from Lebanon and Mexico. I got the chicken chawarma taco and it was delicious: juicy chicken sitting on soft pillowy warm taco , tangy from the tahini and the acidity of the pickled turnip just wraps up the whole gem. I alternated every bite with the most wonderful babaghanoush , smoky and drizzled with good olive oil. The best part: taco for $1.5 and babaghanoush for $7( enough for 3). It is close to my work so I will get some more often on my way PS: came today for the second time and had the Zapotec falafel taco: $1.5 for pure deliciousness. read more

Wow! This place is so good!! I was craving Mediterranean food and decided to check this place out. Thankfully, It wasn't too far from my workplace. The food is cooked to order so make sure you call in at least 15 minutes ahead of time. Although the location is small with limited amount of parking, it is nicely shaded with plenty of seats. I ordered the Combo Plate and a Chicken Shawarma taco. Both were very delicious! Make sure to order their Garlic sauce and their Red sauce for extra flavor! read more

I was in East LA visiting a friend and he recommended this place that was on the TV show "ugly delicious" with David Chang so I came here for a late lunch on a Tuesday and I had a chorizo lunch platter and a Nopales salad and some hummus TOGO for $39 and a few dollars tips and I had it on the patio and this Oaxacan food with Mediterranean/Lebanese twist was absolutely perfectly prepared with fresh ingredients and attention to details in care so if you're in the area and you want to try a different flavor of the all usual Mexican food this is the place and a must visit so thank you thank you thank you and great job and keep up the good work and I will be back... gracias read more

Many thanks to the brilliant Patricia Escárcega at the Los Angeles Times Food Section for opening my eyes to what these brothers are doing in Boyle Heights. There is not much to the place. It is a walk up counter at the end of a tiny shopping center. When social distancing is not in place, there is a patio with about 4 tables that would each seat about 4 people - that's it. But, these guys are entrepreneurs and they have stayed open through the quarantine and even set up an online ordering system. I preferred calling to place my order to be sure that any fees were avoided. We arrived pretty early, so our food was not ready, but they started our order and it was ready in 12 minutes. These friendly guys are making excellent food. Even though it was 60 minutes to plating, it was still pretty warm and absolutely wonderful. There were 7 of us, so we had: Chicken Shawarma Taco ($1.75/per): this was the absolute best. Street taco style with two soft little corn tortillas, each was loaded with chicken shaved off the spit and topped with onions, cilantro and pickled radish. The chicken was well seasoned and moist. The arabesque salsa was a nice addition. Vegan Taco with Cauliflower ($2/per): these were also delicious. A similar style, but the taco had flavorful seasoned, fried cauliflower florets and was topped with pickled red onions. I recommend adding some of the red salsa for a little zing. Chorizo Kebab ($14): we got two plates, each of which had a generous serving of salad, regular hummus, lots of rice and four "links" (1" spheres) of chorizo. This was the only thing that was a smidge disappointing, because the chorizo was a bit dry. But they sent us with some tahini sauce for the falafel that cured that issue. The salad was standard but fresh - crispy lettuce in a tangy vinaigrette with sliced Persian cucumbers and halved cherry tomatoes - and done well. I loved the pickled radishes - never had those with chorizo, and it was a great combo. The hummus was a revelation. We are talking best in class. Oaxacan Hummus ($7.25): goodness, this was WONDERFUL. It was creamy and a bit earthy, perfectly seasoned and did I mention creamy? It was absolute perfection. It was served with pita, which I passed on in favor of some tortilla chips that I had at home and highly recommend. Family loved the pita, but I am a bit gluten intolerant. Falafel ($6.50 for 6 pieces a la carte): this was quite good but it definitely would have been better had I not carted it home. Despite the cool off, it still had a wonderful crunchy exterior that was flecked with parsley and bits of black bean. I can't say that black bean materially changed the taste here but perhaps gave it an earthier element. While it was served with a tahini dip, I definitely preferred this with the green salsa. I loved the verdant-earthy combination and preferred the zing to a creamy accompaniment. We were all VERY impressed. I wish the brothers all of the success in the world and would definitely come again. Can't say that I would pick-up food and bring it home post-quarantine, because that 50 minute drive becomes 90 minutes and everything would be ice cold, but it was a real treat! And, I would definitely pick a sunny afternoon to enjoy their patio when it is open again. Who knew Oaxacan-Lebanese would work so well? X'tioso to these two brothers that did. read more

So we went, enjoyed a DELICIOUS falafel plate and cauliflower taco. The hummus is good, the rice was great. I don't know what was in it because it was quite plain, but I really enjoyed it. I found Xtiosu Kitchen during one of my many Yelp searches, so of course it was on my Bookmarks to try. I finally had a chance to try it this week, and I was so happy to finally do so! I called them at 11:15ish to see if they might be open, even though Yelp said they were open at 11:30, and they were! I was happy that they were open at all, as many restaurants during this terrible pandemic have closed. Anyway, my coworker and I both placed our orders. They informed us that it would be ready in 10 minutes. Upon arrival, maybe like 15 minutes later, the food was packed and ready to go. Onto the good part of the review... the scent of the food in the car was killing me! It smelled amazing! I ordered two vegan cauliflower tacos and the Papas Preparadas. The food was fantastic!! I am literally salivating writing this review as I think about it! What I ordered doesn't seem like anything too complicated, so while I was expecting it to be good, I did not actually expect what I got. The potatoes in particular were out of this world! Xtiosu has a parking spot and some outdoor tables. What it needs is solid business, so it can raise money for upgrades: better seats, a new sign, maybe even a new location with indoor seating. Got the falafel plate and the falafels are better than most places. Came with salad, rice and hummus. Rice was OK and hummus was tasty as well as smoky but we didn't get the baba ganoush we paid extra for. Papas Preparadas were sooooooo delicious but unfortunately steamed in the box even though we got home quick. If you like garlic and lemon, this is for you but it's almost too overwhelming. Tiktok brought me here! It's pretty much off the freeway. There's a parking lot shared with other businesses with maybe 5 spots, so you have to park in the neighborhood. I ordered the cucumber, mint and lime agua Fresca and the taco combo plate that came w 2 tacos, hummus, Greek salad, and some rice w salsa. The tacos I chose were the two vegan options: fried cauliflower and falafel. Both were delicious and satisfying. I finished the combo plate and didn't feel sluggish.
