I came during their happy hour where all of their rolls are 20% off. Each order contains 4 cut rolls, so if you're hungry you will end up ordering a lot. Yakumi Roll (5/5): This was my favorite roll I tried. It's spicy tuna topped with a slice of tuna, serrano, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. It was pretty delicious and I ended up ordering two of them. I will come back here just to get this roll. Golden Roll (3/5): mixed shrimp roll topped with seared salmon and wasabi. I recently went here about 10 days ago because I wanted to try their Dine LA deal. I went on a Friday around 12:30 pm and it was a bit hard to find parking since so many businesses on Riverside Drive, but I eventually found parking a bit further away and just walked. I don't mind walking if good food is in the future jeje. When you get there, you order at the counter and they give you a number and you sit yourself after paying. I ordered the $25 Dine LA lunch deal that included the Yakumi Box and a Mango Lychee Cocktail. Normally the Yakumi Box is $29 and the cocktail is normally $8, so instead of paying $37, I paid $25 ($12 savings) before tax and tip. I thought the food was delicious and such a great deal. Also, the service was great as well. I sat inside because the outdoor patio was basically full, but didn't mind sitting inside since it was a nice and quiet ambiance since I was the only one dining inside. Took my mom out to lunch earlier today. I had this place bookmarked for a while now and ended up dining here for lunch. The host that greeted us said that they don't have table service til 3 pm so we prepaid for our lunch and took a seat. A few minutes later our food arrived all at once. I ordered the Yakumi Plus box and added two more rolls (which are cut in 4 pieces) and a Hanabi (crispy rice with spicy tuna on top ) ... the cashier said it should be enough for two but honestly I could have eaten more but really didn't feel like going back and ordering more at the register. It kind of kills the vibe, I rather order at the table until I'm full. We paid over $70 for this meal. It's a bit pricey for the portions we got but the freshness and the taste of the sushi rolls made up for that. I can tell they use really good quality fish so the price seems fair. Made a last min decision to come here with friends and so glad we did! Located on a corner on Riverside, this intimate sushi spot was a great find! The interior was clean and featured lots of wood. Big murals of the details of fighting fish covered the back wall. They have a to-go section of the restaurant, so keep that in mind next time you're on the go. We were seated right away, but missed happy hour by a few minutes (3-6 PM during the week). That being said, the prices are VERY reasonable even without the HH pricing, considering the prices you see at sushi spots these days. Our server, Tim, was wonderful and super friendly. The menu had combos of varying sushi/roll choices/sizes. I ordered The Studio Box, which included the Crunchy Roll; the Spicy Tuna Roll; Baked Crab Roll; and edamame. Everything was delicious but the Baked Crab Roll was a sneaky favorite - simple yet super flavorful. The hot sake was also a great choice for a chilly evening. On October 2nd, my family and I ordered food from Yakumi for the very first time. I should have paid more close attention to the negative Yelp reviews as they mirrored my experience quite accurately. I guess when everything goes well at Yakumi, it goes well, but do not attempt to get anyone to fix a problem that comes up. So here is the problem - I was charged $138.72 for food that did not arrive. One would think that this would be something that requires 5 minutes to fix. "I am sorry sir. I deeply regret that after an hour, you are without food. We will have another order out to you ASAP and provide you with an extra special dish for the inconvenience." Or "I realize that it has been an hour. Would you like us to prepare the same meal tomorrow? We would be happy to also give you $20 off your next order after that." Basically an acknowledgement that mistakes happen and that you should make an effort to compensate for the inconvenience. Upon getting a texted photo from GrubHub of the wrong house, a house I was not familiar with, I called Yakumi's phone number and spoke with Manager Tim. He explained that GrubHub made the mistake and that they outsource deliveries to them. I explained that I did not care as I am only responsible for the paying and eating part. I am a customer - not Yakumi staff. I do not want to know about who they contract out with for delivery any more than I want to know who is supplying their ingredients. I was told by Tim that the issue would be resolved by the following day - it wasn't. I called and spoke with Eric on October 3rd who also gave me the same excuses. I spoke with Chef Steven on the 4th and received my third dose of excuses. I still have not gotten all of my money back. It is now October 12th. The refund amount I received on my VISA was $112.84. Instead of a credit for my inconvenience, they pocketed $25.88 for some unknown reason. Working with GrubHub is not ideal. In the "old days", a restaurant would oversee the quality of its dining experience, from the order taking process, to the quality and preparation of the food, to the delivery of the food, to the handling of any mistakes and complaints along the way. At some point, the customer became responsible for quality control because of a faceless and unaccountable third party (GrubHub, UberEats, or any of these other worthless companies that I did not choose to do business with). I have given three people at Yakumi a chance to step up and fix this - nobody has. Their competitor Kabuki also delivers food using GrubHub, but if they make any mistakes (leave out a dish, forget to include soy sauce and ginger, etc.), they take full responsibility and fix it the SAME DAY. This was my very first experience with Yakumi. 10 days later, I am still dealing with fixing this issue. No apology, no follow up from them to see how things ended up, no offer for a credit or free dessert, nothing at all. A restaurant either learns from its mistakes and thrives, or it burns its customers and goes out of business. I am posting this review so that others will be aware before they order. read more

Seat yourself wherever you like when you enter. Cocktails: Peach lemon drop- great drink. Yuzu honey tastes like juice. Their sushi eaten by itself, with no sauce or condiments added. This is just a mental note to myself so I know exactly what to order next time because their menu is simple. I had major FOMO after seeing Yakumi all over instagram. We went here on a Saturday night and I was surprised how quiet it was. There was only one other couple on the patio! Patio chillin' with sushi...YES PLEASE! So with the fast casual business, you order at the counter and they bring it to you. They have a selection of four different types of sushi combo boxes (varying by quantity of food) that come with edamame and your choice of salad and cut roll. They do have a limited la carte menu items like spicy tuna on crispy rice and other cut rolls. There is no sushi bar here, so don't come expecting to get some special hand roll or some other type of nigiri that is not on the menu. The manager behind the counter was super helpful in explaining the concept to us. We ordered the Yakumi, Yakumi plus, a crispy roll and hanabi. I wanted to taste everything!! In my opinion, splurge for the Yakumi plus. The only difference between that box and the Yakumi is the big eye tuna but it is WORTH IT! Overall, the quality of the fish here is amazing. After hearing great things about this spot, had to try this one out. It was a lot bigger and more spacious than I expected, especially with their outside dining area. You order inside at the counter and the menu is pretty straightforward. You can get a few things a la carte, but your best bet is to get a combination set. My companion and I each got the Yakumi combination set as well as a lychee cocktail. They then give you a number and you can choose to dine inside or outside in their spacious dining area. The dining area is really cute and comfortable. The sushi was good, but nothing amazing. The Yakumi combination set came with two pieces each of yellowtail, salmon, albacore and one piece of shrimp sushi; choice of salad (got the cucumber salad, which was great!), and two rolls (got the baked crab handroll and spicy tuna roll). The quality was good (the baked crab handroll was excellent!). The lychee cocktail was incredible -- the lychee juice tasted so fresh and delicious. Definitely need to come back for it! Parking was pretty easy on a Sunday evening, but I can imagine it might be tricky a little earlier and on the weekdays. The perfect place if you're a bit indecisive and love the idea of pre-designed sushi selections in combination boxes! Yes, it's a corporate entity, the brainchild of the Sushi Roku, Katana and Pizza Rev folks. The staff is super-friendly and goes above and beyond. Manager Ryan is a sweetheart, and on one of my visits, made my friend a lychee cocktail for her birthday and it was on the house! That stuff is off the hook. The parking is the only drawback- there are a lot of restaurants in the area and everyone has to compete for street parking.
