Food wasn't bad. We got the variety combo large size. All the meats were tender and delicious except for one. Not sure if it was the rib eye or the boneless short rib but one of them was tough to chew and sort of grainy? I think the side dishes were really good there so that's a huge plus. For the most part service was fine, they were very accommodating of our 9 month old in her car seat. However, we had an extremely unfortunate interaction with one employee there. I think if you have any side dishes with nuts it would be nice to have information on that. I have a severe nut allergy but some dishes don't have obvious signs that they contain nuts. We asked politely if a specific side dish had nuts and they said "yes it has walnuts". We responded "oh, we have a severe nut allergy". He responded very bluntly "then don't eat it then". I think that's obvious I'm not going to eat the dish and no one is expecting royal treatment but I think it would have been an appropriate response to ask if we wanted the dish removed or if there was another dish with nuts being provided with that information. Everyone has off days and maybe that day was one for the employee, but it definitely diminished an otherwise fun dinner for our group. read more

One of my FAVORITE kbbq places in ktown for sure! They are not ayce but they have combos that are super filling. The quality is also amazing and I LOVE the banchan sides they provide. When you order the combos, it comes with a bowl of beef tartare which is SO good. I also love their tripe banchan, it's definitely the only place I've seen that has it. Here, the servers cook the meats for you and they are very attentive. They do cook pretty fast (sometimes faster than you can eat haha). This is definitely somewhere I recommend going with a group since the portions are big. 1 combo is good for 4 people. For parking, you have to valet for their lot which is $3. read more

yangmani was my favorite kbbq spot I've been trying to gate keep for a couple of years. so happy that they were able to relocate to a bigger place that has valet parking, more space etc. I came here with a bunch of friends last weekend and I was pretty disappointed by my experience. - They tend to now only give 1 set of banchan even for 8+ group - The space doesn't have great ventilation so the air is consistently smokey (not great for kids) - They ran out of rice paper (we went 3-4 hours prior to closing) - The service is really slow and the service was not great. At the end of the meal, the waiter asked us if we wanted bean paste stew and scorched rice which we wanted. We waited 15-20 minutes after the stew was provided and asked when the rice was going to be provided and he let us know that they ran out of rice 2 hours ago? Not sure what he was thinking.. I feel like he should have given us the soup during the meal so we were not ending our meal with 2 bowls of salty soup. I visited this new location for the first time since they moved and me and my friend got the Chang combo & tripe fried rice for her birthday. Inside was so modern and clean, even the dishes seemed very modern. Foods were good, but the staffs seemed not very attentive and slow. Our grill was already burnt before they put any of the meats on the grill, but our server didn't seem to care and put the meat anyway. BANCHAN! My mom and I decided to have dinner at the banchan because she loved the banchan options available at Yangmani compared to other kbbq spots in koreatown. We were both shocked that they provided both kongbiji jjigae during AND dwenjang jjigae at the end, and loved the other banchan that were provided. I appreciated that servers cooked for us (as people visiting from states where we have to do our own meat cooking )! We did the combo and loved all the meats. The ribeye was soooo tender and the samgyupsal was juicy and surprisingly not too fatty. I believe they recently relocated, so the space is clean! This is my new favorite KBBQ place in LA. They have valet parking which is essential in ktown. The place is clean with good ventilation and great service. All the banchan were so good and I got to try new dishes that I've never had before. They also give you so much protein in the side dishes. My favorite was the soup! I went in on a Thursday night for a nice Korean bbq with my husband after work. This place used to be my absolute favorite but not anymore. The side dishes and the meat were still pretty good but the service was just horrible. I know everyone is working hard and it's always super packed, but I felt super rushed and most of the servers were very unkind. There were plenty of brisket and boneless short ribs left on our grill, but the server pushed all the meat to the side and started to cook the pork belly and the beef mountain tripe. The raw pork belly was touching all of the cooked potatoes, onions and some of the cooked beef which was so annoying. All of our meat were all cooked within 30 minutes of them bringing out the raw meat. Furthermore, we still had good amount of meat left and we were both still eating and the server just comes by and turns off the heat. WTF?? Why can't I have my meat warm while I finish eating?? I wanted to order their fried rice and cold noodles but just left. I am so disappointed and will not be coming back. Being treated like that is not worth my money. read more

With that said, I was thrown off by the small, drab of a building, with graffiti on the wall on the corner of Olympic and Magnolia on the outskirts of Koreatown. Finally, I gave this establishment a try with the wife and kids for a Friday dinner. There is a $3 valet parking, which you have to use as there is absolutely no parking on the street and I would not recommend parking on the street for possible theft, if you are familiar with the area. We entered and quickly seated. They brought out place setting for the kids, water, side dishes, and sauces. Eventually, the staff came and took our order. We chose the chef's combo due to having kids. The wife was dying to try the entrails but with kids, various ribs and more ribs was better choice. Accompanied by few bottles of Korean beer. The meal was complete. I personally enjoyed the various side dishes and accompaniments such as pickled perilla leaves, some sort of salad which had apple and onion, and spicy green onion salad. They cook the meat from start to the end. They even cooked the left over meats and cut it up for us to take it home. Due to full service and place being busy, the attentiveness can be slowed but they still try their best. The price of the meal is higher but worth it for quality, abundant side dishes, and table service. Will definitely come back to try their entrails meats. read more

Great service, great food, hardly any wait...what more can you ask for in a KBBQ spot? Besides maybe free parking...but it's LA so I'm used to paying valet or street parking. I hadn't been to the new location, but it's just as good as the OG spot...side dishes were on point. Classic side dishes that really complement the meat offerings. Oh and their kimchi biji jjigae with pork...wow. Just comfort in a stone bowl. The meat quality is great and they grill it to perfection! Service at the OG spot was the best at any KBBQ spot I had been to, so to see that the same level of service was given at this spot was a plus. The Chef Cut Combo doesn't seem like much, but trust me...for 2 dudes, it was more than enough and we left stuffed. Yangmani is different; my son said by far the best K-brisket he's ever had (his fave meat choice); their banchan is unique and great. Meats were premium and it wasn't enough! We enjoyed the visit. The meats were good, but the service was pretty lacking. They also have kind of a strange reservation policy - they take reservations up to 5 pm (this does not mean the latest you can MAKE a reservation for the day, but the latest reservation you can make is 5 pm) and then they are walk in only after. I've never encountered that kind of reservation policy before, but sure, house rules. We were 3 people, and we had the combo for 2 + large intestines + spicy cold noodles. Things came out in really strange ways. Side dishes first, then the intestines. I immediately went to start cooking the intestines, and they stopped me and said "we use a different grill for that, and we will do the cooking for you". Then we waited for 20 minutes for anything else to come, the whole time they have the grill going. They never gave us water, salt, dipping sauce - at first I thought they just didn't do these things - I had to request each of these things individually when I noticed other tables all had them. When we finally got the meats, they didn't butter the grill or oil it up with a piece of fat or anything, they just dumped the meat onto the grill (which was extremely hot because it's been heating up for 20 minutes) and immediately seared the beef onto the grill, half of it getting stuck and destroyed. No one came to flip it for so long, we could smell it burning and we had to flip it ourselves. If you tell me not to cook it myself, at least don't let the meat burn! The intestines were the first thing they brought us but the last thing they cooked. They told us that we needed to cook the intestines on a different grill, which a different waiter ended up completely ignoring and cooked on the very dirty, very burnt grill they never changed. I feel like our waiter hated us because of the combination of forgetting half of our dishes and messing up our cooking and obviously doing the intestines wrong. Solid Kbbq spot that has a wait. Arrived around 5 pm and waited about a hour to get seated for 8 people. They don't have a lot of big tables so you might need to get 2 tables split apart for larger parties. Not AYCE but a la carte and combo meals available. What's different here is the grill and the banchan (side dishes). The combo is a good choice to share and get something of everything. The brisket, short rib, pork jowl, pork belly combo is a decent combo. Think quality over quantity. You'll get about 8-10 pieces per meat order. All the meats were high quality. The short rib doesn't have much marinade on it so that's a bit different from other places. Service was great throughout the meal. Servers will routinely clean the grill of oil and grill meats so you do not lift a finger. Small parking lot that only does valet. read more

Checked out the updated location and was disappointed in the new direction they seem to be going. Bigger portions, cheaper prices, but the quality has fallen off tremendously. The old Yangmani on Olympic Blvd was truly a special place. Everything tasted like it was prepared by a master of their craft. The banchan was thoughtful, rivaling the entrees of other restaurants and their meat was of the highest quality. Imagine me and my fiancés surprise when we came to this new location after a year of no Yangmani and the cuts of meat were inconsistent, the banchan was missing key ingredients, and the flavor was lacking across the board. We were actually confused and thought something was wrong with our taste buds. It was no different than a mid AYCE spot. It was just okay, which is such a far departure from the hole-in-the-wall spot that used to blow our minds. If you love the old Yangmani, heed this review as a warning. You will be disappointed. We've been there few times and once with family, my Korean mother in law refused to go back citing "they are unkind" Banchans: The banchans are a highlight, main reason for me to go back. generous portions and a variety of flavorful options which are not available in other Korean restaurants. They're well-seasoned and replenish quickly, adding value to the meal. Meat Combo Choices: The meat combos are a strong point, offering good variety and quality. Decent portion sizes for groups. Note that each table needs to order minimum of two BBQ orders. Side note on Soondubu: The soondubu is outstanding when executed well--silky, flavorful , and deeply comforting. However, its quality can be inconsistent, with some visits yielding overly watery, lukewarm and bland broth, which is disappointing given its potential. Service: Service is a mixed bag. Some staff are attentive and friendly, but many others are condescending, blunt and dismissive, detracting from the experience. I loved yangmani at the previous location but this new place was lacking in a so many ways. Meat was good BUT service was slow and I get that theyre busy but they started cooking the meat all together at once, WHO DOES THAT! I felt rushed to eat them bc it wouldve burnt if not. The prices have also changed, and the portions and side dishes have significantly been reduced. They no longer serve the yukoe salad and the tripe, which is a pity cause they were my favorite part of coming to yangmani. Also another thing, the service station is right behind the dining area, it is cramped and theres so many servers just standing around. I cant even go around so I have to go through a group of 5 servers just standing there, to get to my seat and to get to the restroom. Very disappointing. read more

I've been living in Koreatown for 10 years now and I cannot believe this was my first time visiting this place (now twice within 2 weeks). It doesn't seem like much that comes out but the side dishes(banchans) that come out really stands out; you'll want it again and again! We tried the brisket, ggotsal (shortrib meat), joomoolluk (I have no idea) and rib eye. To our surprise it was amazing! Taste, quality and quantity. There is a rule that you must order 2 full orders per table. I'm a fan of their brisket and ggotsal; always haha The side dishes that come our are a little different than most places and some people might say that it's definitely catered to veteran kbbq eaters. They don't give you macaroni salad, potato salad and some other fancy shmancy but instead they stick with the necessary side dishes and sides that compliment the meat they serve. Unfortunately, I do not eat intestines so I cannot comment on their intestines....or pork... Shockingly, I have no problem eating their kimchi biji jjigae with pork- the direct translation for this soup is bean curd stew, it does have a grainy texture from the coarsely blended soy beans but it's very nutty and I love the rich creaminess of it even though it had chunks of pork, I still ate it. One of the many best parts about this place is their gangdwenjang that gets served with the meat and usually gets settles on the grill- it's a super thick version of soybean stew but super reduced to a sauce, it's very often used for pork dishes but I don't mind dipping my ribeye in it. To finish off the meal we ordered the kimchi noodles and it was refreshing! Like... refreshing enough to make you pick up your chopsticks and eat a few more bites even if you're stomach is CRAMMED. I hesitated writing a review because I don't want this place to get busier than they are already... hehe I cannot wait to go back and try their "call ahead" beef sashimi! read more

Sooooo so so sad. OG Yangmani fans are going to be disappointed. I went in with low expectations bc of reviews but couldn't help but know for myself and they were correct. It's really not that it's bad. It's just the same as every other place now. The original banchans are almost all gone and you get way less than you used to overall for the same price. Another thing that pissed me off was that their grill dripped oil from the bottom onto my husband's pants and my foot (I was wearing my flip flops). I said something to the waiter and all he said was, "It wasn't doing that before..." Ok???? What does that have to do with the current situation? Luckily we weren't wearing anything expensive. They didn't even offer a sorry much less comping our dinner. I pretty much only ate kbbq at the OG Yangmani and now I'll never be back. High key upset I have to start trying other places again. The sides that Yangmani offers is just out of this world! My friend who frequents this area recommended us to come to this place for dinner. Compared to other non-AYCE kbbq restaurants in the area, I was actually surprised that Yangmani's wait wasn't too long even on a Friday night. Perhaps we went a bit later (7:30pm), or perhaps because there was a basketball game the same night? Yangmani is also located on the edge of ktown. Good thing is that you ~may~ be able to find residential parking, if you are good at parallel parking and dare to squeeze into some questionable spaces. I'll say all that is still worth a visit to Yangmani. To start, there are probably 10 different sides, none of which you will ever see at other Korean restaurants. They've even had marinated beef slices, raw beef salad, their rendition of soy bean stew, just to name a few. I can't even name you my favorite. Here, it's probably best to order a combo so you can try a bit of everything. My friend took care of the ordering and we just had to EAT. The quality of meat here is superb, and requires minimal seasoning/saucing. I can't say enough good things about Yangmani - the quality of meat, the uniqueness of their sides, and also the service. 10/10 for this place and will be coming back! read more
