The huge outdoor patio sits in the shade, so it can get chilly back there in the afternoon. Yard house has a great happy hour menu with deals on both food and drinks. I loooooove the poke nachos and barbecue chicken pizza. The truffle fries are also bomb (but not part of the HH menu)! My 1st experience with Yard House was in Vegas & the overall experience was great. Here I wasn't impressed. At 7P, the wait was over 45 minutes long for two people so we opted to sit at the bar to lessen the wait. However, the service was slow & un-engaging, which was off as there many employees behind the bar. Pros - If you are a beer lover, then this is the place for you. Liquor consumers (like myself) have plenty of options to choose from as well. They have beer flights as well as samples that you can choose from. - If your server is MIA, then you can place orders and pay for your meal using the device that's located at the end of each table. - Offers both indoor and outdoor seating. - Plenty of additional activities (i.e. eateries, drinking, shopping, etc.) to do afterwards. - Free parking - TVs on TVs. There are plenty of screens to choose from so this is a great location to meet up with friends on game day. - Consistency: I've visited the Chinatown and Arundel Mills locations as well and all of my usuals were served and tasted the same. Cons - The parking lot can get filled up quickly but there's additional parking that's within walking distance. - Wait times can be upwards of 1 - 1.5 hours depending on the day and how busy the restaurant is. However, the location's current wait time is available online and you can also sign up for a table and check in with the host. In the past few months, I've attempted to dine at yard house 3-4 times and chosen elsewhere due to the wait. The check in process is very unorganized and you are not sure if people have already put in for a table or if they have gotten a text that their table is ready. There is one line only and it slows check in down to a snails pace. So people will walk to the front of the line due to receiving a text that their table is ready, but there are others waiting to put their name in for a table. As a patron it's frustrating and chaotic. I attempted to visit most recently on a Saturday at 3:30. It took over 10 mins just to put my name on the waitlist. There was only one hostess and when she went to seat someone there was no one else to take your name although there was people inside at the usual front desk/check in area. When I finally got my name in, she didn't advise if a wait time or how many people were ahead of me. Even using their online waitlist doesn't save you time. I've added myself 45 minutes before my arrival. The online system gave me a waitlist of 45 mins. I arrived and "checked in" and have been told the wait would be another 45 minutes to only wait an additional hour and a half. The headache of all of this makes me go elsewhere with so many options in the area. read more

Great disappointment in the Vampire Taco, which I came to love from discovering it at your sister restaurant in San Antonio, TX. The shell was not crispy at all. All-in-all it was filling because of the carnitas, guacamole, and salsa so I can't complain there. Please get back to what the Vampire Taco shell should be. This place is CAVERNOUS and the parking was a bit like malls around Christmas time - you need to chill at/near the door and follow behind someone to their car. The patio room is wonderfully insulated (overlooks a man-made pond) as you couldn't tell it was winter outside even placing your hand on the glass. The HVAC guy and the roofing guy in our group and me.....the three of us...all had a spirited discussion about what we believed this restaurant's insulation process on the patio entailed. Came here on a Friday night during opening week and upon arrival, we were told that it'd be a three hour wait. We opted to sit at the bar until we circled the whole place and there wasn't a single seat available. We decided to get on the waitlist which had a shorter wait time at this point (two hours instead of three). We were texted within 30 minutes that our table would be ready. Food: delicious bar food! I ordered the crab and lobster dip, moo shoo egg rolls, and the vampire quesadilla Their food is so good! Drinks: they serve 32 oz beers and have a good selection of cocktails. Count me a fan of this place! I've been to several Yard Houses while on vacation, and can't believe they opened one in Gaithersburg! This review is for their happy hour. Their food selection at happy hour is quite extensive and they don't skipped out in portions. It's their regular sized apps at a discount. We enjoyed the chicken nachos and their tuna nachos. Yum. For beer lovers, rejoice! Over 130 beers on tap!! I thought Old Town Pour House was impressive, this takes top billing. Wow. Solid 4 stars for Yard House! A new, hip, trendy restaurant located at the Rio in Gaithersburg that replaced Macaroni Grill. My friend had our group on the waitlist and we were seated right away. FYI the place is new and gets packed, it's recommended to get on the waitlist if you're impatient and hate long wait times. To be honest, I was overwhelmed with the menu. So many choices (even Vegan options) and everything looked delicious. I noticed the pork lumpia under the appetizers and got excited. Filipino bites are taking over everywhere! I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with a side of truffle fries. The crispy chicken goodness with the white cheddar spread oozing at the bottom was made for one perfect sandwich. We were all pleased with our food except for the customer service. Our server was nice but failed to re-fill our drinks. Another server took over in the middle of his shift that delayed us from getting our bill. She cleaned our table but ignored us the rest of the time. I knocked off a star for this very reason. As I am waiting for the table a server comes to the front meets a friend who has his guest of 3 and proceeds to the very table being cleaned for me and seats them. They never had checked in and obviously friend with the server. I walked out with disgust and am now enjoying a Bison burger at Ted's. I will never return. This place is good if you're a sports fan or if you enjoy beer during happy hour; there are obviously a plethora of beer options. It gets loud so I don't recommend coming for a nice meal with family. They always seem busy and stretched pretty thin because each time I've gone, the service was awful (very slow, and not attentive). I asked for something to be omitted from my burger but it was in there when they brought it to the table. It took at least 10 minutes each time for our waiter to bring us something- a friend asked for utensils (fork/knife) because it wasn't on the table, and his food was room temperature by the time she brought it to him. I wanted to watch the Steelers beat the Cowboys on a Sunday night! I was doing some Christmas shopping at the Clarksburg outlet nearby and I searched for the closest sports bar. A few came up, but this is one that I've never been to before so I said let's give it a try! I am certainly glad I did because this place is massive and they were able to seat me immediately. I thought about sitting outside, but it was a little humid and they were doing the social distancing thing really well. I started with appetizers and some crispy waters. The calamari was good, but it was more tentacles than rings. I didn't complain because my team was doing so well. I ordered the dipped beef with truffle fries and that was right on the money! The waitress was amazing and so patient with me. I stayed the whole game and I ended up ordering the cheesecake brûlée because I was there almost 3 hours. We decided to come here based off of their vegetarian menu online. It was really cool to see them have a partnership with a major brand. My biggest issue with this place is how long I waited for everything. We waited almost an hour to be seated and then another hour before we got our food. It's really unfortunate when you're able to finish your drinks before your food arrives. I understand being short staffed especially with Covid but the wait was a lot. I've got the fake chicken sandwich and it was really good, it definitely could've been warmer but overall I would order it again. It is honestly the perfect option for a vegetarian looking to have some thing that doesn't scream I don't eat meat to the others. I will say the menu does not match what is online. There were multiple items and I wanted to order but did not see on the menu. My fiancé went with the pineapple chicken and he said it was really good but that the spicy rice it came with was nothing special. The Caesar salad was good and so were the truffle fries. If I hadn't waited so long for every part of my experience I would've rated this place higher. I hope to return and hope that the wait time goes down. All the seated parties were spaced out about 10 feet. All the waiters were wearing masks and very friendly. It seemed very clean inside and the atmosphere is very upbeat, kind of like a brighter/better aired Buffalo Wild Wings? The Kurobuta Pork burger was excellent and so were the sweet potato fries. The portion was more than enough and the flavors and textures were great. I was also a huge fan of the poke nachos and coconut shrimp. The menu is a little overwhelming but I'd say the food here is really good. The service was great. We came on a Friday for lunch and the wait was only 15 minutes. I went here for the first time 9 days ago and have been back twice since then. This place is awesome! The first time I came my friend said I had to try the poke nachos so we split those and I got the whiskey glazed salmon and the midnight sangria, both of which were really good! The second time we split nachos again and I got a watermelon margarita and the boneless wings half whiskey black pepper half Korean chili which were also pretty good. This last time I just got a whole thing of nachos for myself and the long beach tea. My experience at this restaurant was just OK. My family and I came here for lunch on Father's Day at 12pm and we overall had a good time. This was my first visit to Yard House. The location in Rio is great, and I liked the lively, bright ambiance. There is a large parking lot in front and parking garages nearby, but expect the parking lot to be full during typical meal times. We got lucky and found a spot. First, the service was OK. Our waiter, Adam, was very patient, friendly, and helpful, but I do have to say that a few mistakes were made. The food took a long time to come out. Our poke nachos appetizer never came, and then the entrees were served. My dad's beer never came either. There were several smaller things that I asked for that didn't come either. I do give props to the restaurant for making up for the mistakes adequately though -- Yard House took the nachos and beer off of the bill. The food was also just OK. The poke nachos were delicious -- the chips were fried wonton skins and I loved the raw tuna; a bit messy, but I'd order this again. Other than the nachos, I didn't find the food that we ordered particularly tasty and the portions were overall smaller than expected given the price. I ordered the vegan burger. The burger was big, but I didn't love the taste - still a good enough vegan option though. Nashville hot chicken sandwich didn't come with many fries; plate seemed a bit empty. The $9.95 daily lunch special is not that worth it -- the portion is so small. Of the 2 options you can pick, they are generally "snack" items or small sides, like a single small taco and side salad. We finally got here early enough to get on the waitlist and we're really happy we made it here! We went early on a Friday night and got seated a bit after 7. The house was packed and we could tell that they were a bit short staffed. That was a concern at first. However, the staff was very pleasant and hard working. They didn't come by the table every 5 minutes, but they were available when needed. The bar drinks were very good. The food is the standout. Our appetizers and entrées were excellent! The Firecracker shrimp was super yummy to start. I had an amazing halibut and she had the jambalaya. All the food was very well prepared and plated. We have a list of other places to revisit now that things are opening back up, but Yard House has earned a place in our list of places to keep going to. read more

Husband and I went out for a long awaited date night on a Saturday. Saw they didn't accept reservations so we joined the "waitlist" before we left our house even though the website said there was no wait for a table for 2. Link we received for the waitlist said to click when close, so I clicked while we tried to find parking. Got another text back saying our spot was held for THREE minutes. Trying to get a parking spot at Rio on a Saturday takes much longer than 3 mins and nowhere was I warned before hand that saying we were "close" would give us a 3 min countdown otherwise we would lose our spot. We eventually get to the restaurant and get checked in. Was sent a link to check the status and repeatedly got an error message. We waited about 10 minutes, go back into the hostess who tells us we were sent a notification for our table being available 4 minutes ago (which we did not receive). Our table was given away and when we begin to show frustration we were asked if we would be fine eating outside. I'm not sure why we weren't asked that in the first place because we jumped on the offer. Our server was a nice guy but clearly overwhelmed. He had too many tables and we didn't see him much during the service. Food was delicious but we had to ask for refills on drinks and had to ask for water. Wanted to get dessert but was worried about the time it would take to get it so just skipped it. The whole night was just not enjoyable. The best thing about this location is the view of the water when you eat on the outdoor patio / indoor-outdoor area. The food is good and you get what you pay for - given that it is a chain restaurant. The atmosphere when eating inside can be incredible loud and it can be difficult to hear your guests if you're eating dinner there. It's a nice vibe if you're grabbing drinks with people though. Their happy hour deals are good if you can make it. The frustrating part about this location is that you cannot make a reservation. You can only put yourself on the wait list in advance - which while helpful - does not help too much with the wait times.
