This is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Indy. They have a great selection of appetizers, small plates, entrees and drinks. The food is flavorful and the customer service is awesome. I hadn't been to Yard House for awhile, so I decided it was time to make a return visit when business brought me to the downtown area. I found convenient parking in the Circle Centre Mall and then made my way outside to the restaurant located on the south side of Maryland Street just east of the mall's overhead crosswalk between blocks. The staff was very pleasant since the frigid weather kept a lot of customers indoors, so the staff was glad to have us. The interior was rather dark since they pulled the shades to help keep the heat inside. They even had enough courtesy to seat us well into the restaurant so that we didn't feel the draft from folks coming in. Our waitress (Amber) did a fine job of keeping an eye on our water glasses, bringing special requests for lemon & sweetener for my wife's tea, and even making a condiment run for mayo for my wife's Turkey Melt sandwich that was a bit on the dry side. Note: When my wife mentioned the dryness of the sandwich, Amber alerted the manager who promptly came over to apologize for the problem and was going to notify the kitchen. She also offered to replace the sandwich (my wife passed and decided dessert was a tastier option!) and then removed the charge for the sandwich. That is caring about the customer having a pleasant experience and why I mention it. It is nice to support places that hire good people to run their business. I opted for the lunch combo 1/2 sandwich and salad/soup. My choice was the Roast Beef Dip (au jus) and a Ranch Salad. The flavor was fine on both items and hit the spot. Other items we had were the Crispy Brussels Sprouts and Potatoes which came with a delicious Malt Vinegar Aioli. YUM!!! I love the roasted flavor and the aioli took it up a notch. My wife chose the Clam Chowder to go with her sandwich half, and she thought it was very good too. And her dessert option, a mini creme brulee with banana slices tasted good, but didn't quite get enough searing of the sugar to make a nice crust on top. (My wife loves that crunch of the sugar paired with the creamy goodness of the brulee.) So, great service and just a few minor problems with the kitchen reflect a 4 star rating with just a little room to improve. I would gladly return again. Review #482 read more

Sadly I was not impressed and I was really hoping to like this place! I started out with a drink which was good and the onion ring tower, also good. So I had high hopes. I ended up getting two street tacos, the vampire taco and the chicken taco. Both of with were very dried out and didn't have much of any flavor other than a burnt taste. I'm a very big fan of street tacos and get them most everywhere I go and these by far were one of the worst I have had. Maybe if we go back I will try something else. read more

This is indeed a large facility. I came here with a group of about 3 dozen people on a pub crawl (with advance notice), and there was no problem accommodating us on a Saturday night. This is definitely a place to come if you enjoy beer, particularly in tall glasses, and they have quite the variety. I expect many in my group really enjoyed the food and drink here. I suspect if I had ordered beer, I would be in agreement. But I ordered one of their house cocktails, and I wasn't quite as impressed. I ordered their Four Roses Old Fashioned. I had been drinking bourbon cocktails exclusively all week in Indianapolis, mostly old fashioneds and manhattans. This one was by far the weakest and the lightest colored. Their explanation was the brown sugar syrup in it, yet I did not taste a strong brown sugar presence. The waitress did offer me the option to switch it to a traditional old fashioned, but I passed. I did enjoy the street tacos, which for me were the asadas. If they offer them at a happy hour price, go for those. They had a great spice to them, though they were slightly smaller than I had expected, and the guacamole seemed to be piled on one end of each. You can certainly get good food and drink here. Really fun and casual meet up place for friends. Huge bar, with a nice drink selection, and good amount of bar seating. Dim/dark lighting so that you can see all of the mounted tv's around. Nice for happy hour, and especially dinner! Big variety menu (not just bar food). There's no parking at the restaurant, however directly across the street is the Circle City Mall parking garage. $3 for 3 hours is what I paid. Not bad! read more

Went here with a bachelorette party for dinner. Unfortunately, the wait time to get our table (which we had a reservation for) on top of the wait times to order and receive our food caused us to be there for 2 hours - much longer than we had anticipated. We spoke to the manager about our frustration and he handled it so well I will definitely be back again! I went to Yard House for lunch 2 days in a row this week. Both times I got the Béarnaise Burger + Bacon. The first time, the burger was perfect and juicy. The bacon was thick and cooked perfectly. It made me want to come back for another! Unfortunately, the second time the burger was well done instead of medium (some bits even charred) and dry. (I had to add even more condiments than what come on it!) Each time I was in, the place was almost unbearably cold. I'm the kind of gal who keeps her house set on 66 degrees. Wow: 5 stars for wonderful service! The level of service I received was unexpected. My server was observant and friendly. She noticed a gift sitting on the table for my friend and immediately asked what it was for then said that my friend would get a congratulatory dessert. While ordering, she made sure that we knew about the half priced happy hour apps and pizzas. When my friend's order came out, mine didn't. About 5 minutes later, she checked and saw that mine wasn't there. She then brought it out and said that it would be comped. A manager came out to check in later on in the meal. It has taken me awhile to finally visit this restaurant, but I'm glad I finally got around to it. I took my friend out for a birthday dinner; she picked this place because she had never been as well. The restaurant is very big and spacious. Plenty of seating so there should never be a long wait. Tables aren't close together. There's adequate floor space for maneuvering; it gives each table a bit more privacy. It's decorated in dark wood and large booths line the walls. All of the staff that I encountered was very friendly and offered greeting and salutations. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful with recommendations. Menus are as expansive as the restaurant. Sooo many options. Everyone should be able to find something they like as they have a little bit of everything. We decided on the Chicken Nachos as an appetizer. Was not expecting such a huge portion. They also have "snack" options, which probably would've been better to go along with our entrees. Nachos were good. We finished the nachos, but we were too full for our main dishes. I got the Spicy Jambalaya. You have rice options, and I chose spicy. I did sample a bite, but ended up taking it home. It was very good and the spice was definitely there. My fried got the Southern Fried Chicken Breast. I sampled a piece of the chicken and it had good flavor. She tasted everything and liked it, but ended up taking it home. We ordered a few drinks and enjoyed them as well. It was a good dining experience. My wife and I enjoy coming to YardHouse for Sunday football games since they show nearly every game on. The burgers are fantastic and the Black Truffle Cheeseburger is crazy good!!! I'm not a huge pork eater other than bacon, so the flavor was a little off for me. If it was beef brisket or pulled chicken I may have enjoyed it more. If you're looking for an overall variety of food, then Yard House is the place to go. All of their locations are spacious, can accommodate large groups, and they have plenty of tv's placed throughout the bar area. Having said that, YH is an upscale bar, not anything too fancy, however, I do give them props for their extensive vegan menu. Speaking of vegan, their vegan burgers are very good. The truffle fries are great, but the sweet potato fries lacked flavor and they were kind of limp as in not fried crispy enough. We were able to order a couple of items from their HH menu, which is quite generous. We ordered the lettuce wraps and ahi sashimi. Both apps were good, except I could have dealt without all of the sauce for the ahi. Another thing, the bartenders are not mixologists, so keep that in mind when deciding to order something fancy like a Hot Toddy. Our server gave us the option of ordering drinks or being polite enough to wait for our other guests. We got waters and decided to wait. I did have a question about a beer that was previously on the menu before, just wanting to know if there was something similar to it..the server brought me THREE different wants to taste. I truly appreciated that, and it was not expected. (I ended up with the ACE Blood Orange Cider. It was amazing!) once our friends arrived he was very attentive and made sure to take wonderful care of us ! The food was amazing! It was so good I forgot to capture a picture of it. I had the house lamb burger and side Caesar salad. Everyone else got an array of things, and not one single person was disappointed. After a 7 hour drive to Indy, my stomach was yearning for a tasty snack and beer to wash it down. Yard House was close to my hotel, and I was obsessed with notorious 'Vampire Tacos' that I had seen online. Yes, those Vampire Tacos. The tacos with a gold crusted cheese molded to the tortilla. I'll cut straight to the chase here, the food was ok. Nothing special, but something I needed to get off of my food bucket list. The service is really what blew this one for me. It was 7pm on a Sunday, not really crowded. It took us 20 minutes just to get a drink order put in, and another 15 before I could even quench a thirst. Our server forgot to bring out our appetizers. She then failed to bring a bottle of ketchup to our table after many requests. Overall, the food was decent but nowhere worth the hassle of dealing with bad service. We had 4 people at our table, one who doesn't drink, but 2 ordered normal pint - I got the 1/2 Yard. Well, apparently non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks come from different areas in the restaurant, so our friend sat for 20 minutes without a drink (water). My 1/2 yard took almost 25 minutes to get to the table - my friend's pints were almost gone by the time I got my large drink. And the fact that they only allow 3 samples - when they have over 200 taps - is more than slightly ridiculous. Be sure to know what you want - no room to venture out far. read more

I've been twice recently. The place is huge and the staff has a fair distance to travel so visits to the table are not frequent or timely. Most recent visit, our hot food came out almost chilly. My first experience with this restaurant was not a good one - the food was ok, but we had terrible service even after our name was crossed off the list even though we were never called. There was no apology, just an "it happens." Granted they were slammed, but you have to treat your customers better than that. There was no wait tonight and we were promptly seated. So the door, Yelp and google all says that yard house closes at 12 or later on Thursdays. So I show up at 11:03 to meet my group who had been there for about 10 minutes and hey! The doors locked! Awesome. So I wait until someone leaves, come in only to get screamed at by the manager who I guess can't read the door, and also happens to be furious. I don't assume anyone in charge of this restaurant reads costumer complaints, why would they start caring now? Regardless, I'm not going to tell this lady how to run a franchised gastro pub themed towards grass, but I will say you've angered me and the other dozen or so people you screamed at for wanting to come into your business during business hours. read more

Family and I decided on the Yard House before the Indy 11 game. We were seated quickly in a booth and realized the lighting was a tad dark. I had to use my flashlight app on my phone to see the menu. Our waiter was excellent he even accommodated our request to change the channel to a MLS soccer game. I had a shrimp and calamari dish that was pretty good and spicy. Wife played it safe and had a club, my daughter and boyfriend had an ahi tuna sandwich. They said was pretty good. We also tried the cheese curds and devil eggs to start off. It's nice enough for a "night in the town" but it's also enough of a sports bar vibe that you can go there just to grab a beer. And the menu is diverse enough for the same thing. They have some pricier options as well as a whole list of snacks. For vegetarians, there's a whole selection of Gardien options beyond your salad choices, and it's one of the few sports bar locations that also serve fusion dishes like sushi and poke. The beer options are obviously extensive. In fact, the beer list is larger than the food menu. And you have the option to get the yard glass--just make sure you drink it before it gets warm. It's a big place and usually pretty busy, so be a little patient with the service--it's not a grab and go if you're in a rush to make it to a game or concert, but if you have some time to spare, this is definitely a good choice. read more
