I don't usually like to admit I like corporate restaurants but this place is doing it right. I try to support smaller mom and pop's but damn, sometimes I just want Yard House fries. They make some mean thin fries. And a whole vegetarian section WITH veggie meat! What?! Unheard of! They advertise their Gardein meat proudly which I find so odd for a chain restaurant. But I humbly and gratefully accept with open arms. Their veg bbq chicken pizza was yum. Recommendation of the restaurant by a friend as they have been here before. This is my first time here and it will be for awhile since I'm not from around here. So this is quite similar to BJs I believe but definitely the bar has a substantial amount of draft beers known to man. Quite impressive I must say. I normally am not a beer drinker but with the selection that they have I decided to give it a try. My choice was an all around fruit flavored beer. Nice. The other beers my friends had bold strong flavors which weren't bad at all. Food isn't that bad. My choice was orzo scallops which was flavorful with wild mushrooms, some type of creamy red sauce and somewhat doused in, supposedly, white truffle oil. Quite tasty indeed. Try the mac and cheese. Rich and flavorful, a very adult like mac and cheese... Again with a touch of the white truffle oil, a good amount of mushrooms, applewood bacon and pieces of chicken breast. Delicious. Overall can't go wrong with drinks here. Plenty to go around. Choices of food is decent and the service depends on what day and time you come in. We got decent service as it was a Friday night mind you. This is a beer drinkers paradise! They have everything, I mean everything on tap! I almost choked on my Stella when I looked up and saw Pabst Blue Ribbon!...LMAO!! I dig the layout of the bar. Huge and plenty of seating. Average prices. Friendly Hostesses. The bartenders were attentive as well. They provide a late night Happy Hour (Which a lot of bars are doing now). How funny, I see one of the other reviews says Yard House is owned by The Cheesecake Factory...my dinning companion remarked that it felt like a Cheesecake Factory with more beer and TV's...which is NOT a good thing. When a bunch of us get together (and we all live in the area and are oftentimes lazy to drive out), we tend to end up at Yard House. And I'm glad this place is huge too - big groups need not fear as there are plenty of seats inside and outside. I've not really had any issues with the service here. And the food is surprisingly decent to very good. The Mac and Cheese, for example, was a pleasant surprise. Great selection of beer and other drinks as well. A ton of parking located underneath the Paseo complex. It's also right outside of the Arclight, so it should get some consideration as a pre/post movie option. read more

This place is a crowd pleaser. Very good for an after movie round and dinner. The beer selection is great, the cocktails are good, and the menu is huge. They don't do anything amazingly, but they do a lot of stuff really well. In particular the someone schizophrenic Steak Salad is really good. I don't like the over-dressed ahi salad, though. The penne with jerk chicken is really tasty too, and a lower calorie choice. Their under 600 calorie choices are good, but can be on the small side. The 5 oz under 600 calorie steak is good. The burgers are great. This place is a good bet especially for a large group. Call ahead, and ask them to put you on the waiting list while you are on your way there, because the wait has been around an hour fairly often. read more

While I normally prefer not to rate a chain-restaurant, I just need to let it be known out there that the manager at Yard House (on Sunday 3/24/13 around 6pm) is one heck of a great manager. Usually Yard House has very prompt service (from seating you, giving you menus, water, drink orders, appetizer/food orders, getting the check, etc.), but after we were seated at our table, we waited longer than usual for someone to come around to get our drink orders (or just bring iced water, for that matter). Longer than usual. Not long enough to be excruciatingly painful, but long enough to be noticed. Halfway through our meal, the manager comes to greet us and asks us if we waited a long time for our server to come through. I automatically just blurt out, "Yes, just a bit." He then apologizes saying he tried sending someone over to help cover our busy server and then says our two orders of fried calamari appetizers will be on the house for our patience. THEN. I felt bad. B/c he was so nice. I said, "Really? Wow! It wasn't *that* long of a wait....but...." And then he insisted. What a nice guy, what a great manager. Foodwise, it's Yard House--you should know what you're getting into. Service, however, is top-notch, on that one specific night, by that one specific manager. read more

I came here in the late afternoon hoping to fulfill a craving for their deviled eggs. I was surprised to find out they added caramelized bacon bites. Being the adventurous little man I am, I decided to try it out. Unfortunately I wasn't too thrilled with the new addition. It feely off balanced, and noting the bacon was also cold and hard. I also ordered the lamb burger. This thing right here, is a masterpiece. I always order my meat well done, and it amazes me when they still leave it with flavor. Usually places go a little overboard and make the meat dry. Sadly, they gave me a inedible fries. They were cold, hard, and unappetizing. I assume they get this way because of how thin the actual fry is. They did give me a new batch of fries, but they just didn't do it for me. The atmosphere is borderline hipster and classy urban. The waitress was lovely, but unfortunately the rest of the employees could careless about you. It seemed like we were invisible to everyone. Big points for this classic sports bar type restaurant having a large vegetarian menu! The place is pretty loud and dark and we always sit outside to get away from the shouting sports fans. On the back of the menu is a whole vegetarian menu, and many of the restaurant's regular dishes are recreated using Gardein brand fake meats. Yard House actually turned me on to Gardein and I now buy it at the grocery store. I regularly order the Gardein chicken fingers and fries and my husband gets the Gardein chicken rice bowl. Both are really satisfying and the Gardein flavor is very nice. It's a little odd though, every time we try to order from the vegetarian menu, the waiter or waitress has said something like, are you sure you want to order that? You know that's not real meat right? I once asked if the Brussels Sprouts were vegan and the waitress told me they were. They arrived covered in a creamy sauce and when I asked what it was, she said it was mayonaise. When I said I can't eat the eggs in mayo she said she didn't know that mayonaise was not vegan. She was nice about it, it's just strange to me that waiters at a restaurant that has a specialized menu aren't better educated about it. I don't drink (alcohol) so in order for me to give this place an unbiased review, I had to change the words on the beer menu from "WORLD'S LARGEST SELECTION OF DRAFT BEER" to "WORLD'S LARGEST SELECTION OF FRUIT SMOOTHIES" and then I thought to myself, "What an awesome place!" I came here with a party of 10 for a friend's birthday and we got to sit in a cozy corner but it was still hard to listen to conversations because the music was so loud. Went there for lunch on Monday. And it was the typical American chain restaurant. Lot of options, food made decently well, but nothing special. Appetizer - Seared Ahi Tuna - the sauce was good but it was very heavy on the pepper. Entree - Miso Glazed Seabass - Fish was very fresh, and the pairing is a sure win. But it was too salty. Again. I freakin love this place! It's been 2 years since I've been 21 and I barely found this gem! Guaranteed I've only been here for happy hour, but DUDE .. it's happy hour! I've always left happy. But yea so this is the only location I've been and so far so good! It gets pretty packed but I've always found a seat at the bar. I love their selection of beers and their appetizers. All the appetizers are half off and a shorty beer is only like 5 bucks or less! I like getting the shorty because I can try multiple beers without getting bloated. Awesome happy hour. My boyfriend and I always try to make it to their HH, but we get off of work too late. I love their appetizer menu, I've tried almost all of their appetizers and I don't think I've really disliked any of them, maybe the California Roll. During HH we can eat and have leftovers for very cheap. We mainly order just appetizers if we're there for HH. But if we're there for dinner I like to order the lobster pasta, it's delish! My drink of choice is the Gobbstopper, it's not on the menu anymore but I still ask for it and they'll make it. It's a vodka martini drink, it's strong, sweet and it looks pretty Lol. Im positive you'll find a drink that you'll like in the drinks menu. The service is good, some servers are really good and are very nice with pleasant personalities. I go to this Yard House often and it's been pretty consistent during lunch time. Today I ordered the Roasted Turkey Club. Unfortunately it was quite bland tasting. Presentation was great and fries were plentiful, but I found myself literally dunking my sandwich in the honey mustard sauce for my fries because there was no flavor in the sandwich. The four stars goes for my past experiences with Yard House, plus the service was decent and not too slow. Nice ambience and friendly staff also helped. Just like the LA location, I enjoy myself here every single time! I've tried a few things off the menu, but really the best bang for your buck is the happy hour stuff! Yummy! The service is good. When it's busy I'll admit sometimes it's hard to get a hold of your server. I had an incident where our server was nowhere to be found so we ordered a drink through another server and of course it never came. Even with this frustrating situation, it was easily fixed. If I remember correctly, the food used to be a lot better! I haven't been here in quite a long time but it just wasn't as satisfying. We ordered the firecracker boneless wings, the jerk traditional wings, chicken nachos (with fries instead!) and a pepperoni mushroom pizza. The only thing I really liked was the jerk wings. If I had only gone once I would have given this place a five star review. Alas, I went twice. I ordered the Surf & Turf burger both times with very different results. The first one was extraordinary. Really. I was with a big group and I ignored them for the entire meal. Not by choice. The burger commanded my complete attention. The patty was just fine, but the lobster was as good as it gets. And there was a surprisingly large amount of lobster on the burger. So I jumped at the opportunity to go to the restaurant again when a friend wanted to treat my wife and I to a nice meal to say thank you for something. I ordered the Surf & Turf burger again. This time, though, instead of lobster meat, the burger had some sort of imitation crab paste on it. My guess is the restaurant ran out of lobster but didn't bother to tell me. Let's not over-analyze it, though. Maybe it was lobster and it just tasted bad that day. Whatever the reason, the burger was gross and I wasn't happy. On a positive note, I didn't ignore my dining group ... but I did offend the guy who brought us there by making an unfortunate remark about his wife, so it might have been better if my attentions were otherwise focused on a delicious burger. I have been to a few yard houses before, namely for the 256 beers they have on tap and the newly discovered seared ahi sashimi appetizer. But because I was not a big fan of the ambiance there-namely the nightlife scene and cheeze peeps (yes, I'm talking about you triangle square) I was hesitant to meet my friends at the Pasadena branch. Well, I was surprised at how live this place was. On a Friday afternoon the place was packed with twenty-somethings. A very refreshing scene compared to the other Yard house locations (yes, I'm talking about you triangle square) The location is ideal, the servers are all very accommodating, and the room is openly large with plenty of outside seating. It was like spring break for college grads. It's a great location for a good restaurant. I will come here again for my Italian Pilsner and giant salads. Great beer selection but that is the only good thing about this place. The food is Cheesecake Factory quality, massive, fatty, lacking any subtleties. On the weekends the crowd can be a but annoying. The kind of crowd you don't want to deal with if your paying $60 per person drinks and food. Weekdays are better. The staff is rude and aloof most of the times. And they'll card you even if you look fifty. So make sure you take your ID with you. One time, they didn't let my friend in because he forgot his ID but he had his American passport with him!?!? I've been here several times for girls night and on dates, and it's always been a good experience. Yes the wait is long, and yes it's a chain restaurant (which normally I'd avoid) and no they don't take reservations so if these are deal breakers then look elsewhere. However I've always had prompt and pleasant service. Drinks have been refilled quickly, dirty plates cleared right away, orders always correct, and never had to track down a server for anything. Plus every server and host has always been warm and friendly. No complaints, service always hits the mark. It's always an odd mixed crowd (families, sports fanatics, couples, friend groups) but the atmosphere is fun, loud, and perfect for a casual night out. They have a fantastic on-tap beer selection and pretty good crafted cocktails. So far the best meal has been the fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Yum! Crispy, juicy chicken with flavorful potatoes. This isn't high end stuff, but it is perfect drinking food. Overall it's a lively environment with decent food, good service, and great beer and liquor selection.
