I'll start by saying I don't write reviews as much as I used to unless I am just blown away with a place or completely disagree with their rating. My opinion is most bad restaurants are not going to have an off day that makes them good but good restaurants can always have an off day and I wish more people thought about that. Unless I'm at an expensive restaurant I don't expect absolute perfection. All that being said I'm not sure why this buffet has a 2.8 star rating. I typically say buffets are just mediocre so they almost have their own rating scale (for me). Some are genuinely bad but typically they are all just average. This is the first buffet I have ever been to that completely surprised me. From the first bite to the last everything was good. I kept waiting to get something that I hated but that never happened. The sushi is not sushi restaurant grade sushi but it's nice to have as an option and this was one of the best I've had on a buffet. The seafood delight is usually one of my favorites on a buffet but it's also normally just okay;however, here it was phenomenal. I would've ordered that by itself. I know my plate photo looks like chaos but it's because I like to try a little bit of everything and like I said usually you get a couple of items that just are not good. I can say that there was not one thing on my plate that I did not enjoy. This is the first buffet that if I did not rate it based off of it being a buffet it would be a solid 4-4.5. Aside from fast food I can't think of anywhere else I can get a full meal for $13 and it's definitely not going to be as good as all of this. It's got the standard buffet layout and over all the vibe was the same as just about any other buffet. It was pretty clean and there were plenty of options. I felt l had won a free visit to this place but of course I had to pay. The inside is very vibrant and I went during brunch time so it was tranquil. The food tasted stale. From raw food of sushi to the proclaimed steak, the tastes were all completely off. The service was decent but we waited for 10 minutes for a server to return to fill up our drinks or remove the dirty plates. Ambiance, the place is clean, well maintained and spacious. We had Terrible Service-from the moment we walked in. We weren't greeted when we walked in, there was nobody at the hostess stand but there were 2 hostess at the exit stand. They looked us dead in the eye and didn't even say hello. A few minutes later one of them finally walked up to us and asked how many... I said 3. Then she started walking away... I asked her "should I follow you to our table" she slowed down and said "yes".. as I followed her she stopped and turned around and went back to the entrance area without even telling me anything. Need I remind you she hadn't even walked us to our table yet. She just left and then came back and she asked to follow her again. When we got to the table a 2nd server walked up to the table and literally threw the straws for our drinks on the table and walked off and didn't even say hello. Throughout the entire service she didn't speak to us or say hi or anything. She just picked up our plates and kept walking. I noticed she had an attitude and had her arms folded as if she was angry at some prior to us getting there. Towards the end of our meal, she finally started talking to us and asked if our tickets were together and her body language and gesture was more friendly because it's time for her to get her "tip". I signed the ticket and gave her ZERO tip. Michelle is the name of the cashier I have on my check. I am a chef at a high end restaurant and so I value all servers and typically tip them very very well. I am very disappointed at the way we were treated. I can tell they were short staffed but this behavior was completely unacceptable. Never coming back here again. Yes used to be our go to spot for carry out. However, after the pandemic something has changed and the food was NOT good and we felt it was a waste of money. We said we weren't going to go there anymore. We have found another place we love. We have to drive to get there but it's ok. It is SO worth it. I went here yesterday 8/7/23. I was disturbed by several things. The watermelon was SOUR!! The catfish was bones and did not taste like catfish. It was dumped in with the fried shrimp. The waitress gave me a disposable plastic fork. When I looked, other patrons had a regular fork and regular forks were available at the counter. This place gets 5 stars for a number of reasons, but I want to make sure I'm clear. The food here is pretty standard Chinese buffet fare. I'm here at 6pm, food is fresh, seasoned reasonably, and even the basic American eats (fries, rolls, pizza) is cooked well. The guy in the back knows his kitchen. I find with a lot of buffets, you may get flavor, but things are often not cooked right. Great stop for a family dinner on busy weeknights. We get in and out in time to make soccer practice and handle homework and nobody has to wash any dishes. We love the wide selection. My youngest son is a picky eater and we can always get him to fill up a healthy plate of options here. The often have salmon (my favorite). I'm also a big fan of their mongolian grill section. My husband always hits the sushi. There are even options for family members that aren't huge fans of Chinese food. The food is hot and fresh. This buffet sits between 2 and 3 stars for a reason. It's an OK cheap place to eat a lot of food, like if you're really hungry. It isn't really quality food though, compared to other buffet places in Arlington. I feel like the Mongolian is the best part, and that's about it. Maybe if you can eat seafood, this is all worth it.
