This place is a great place to go for a date. The decor is trendy, they have outdoor seating and it's BYOB. The prices are reasonable and the food is tasty. Service was good, my water was continually refilled and the waiter recommended a really delicious dessert. The food was good and the portion sizes were filling without being way too filling. I went at 6:30 on a Saturday and it was almost empty, but I suppose the big dinner rush i smuch later. Definitely stop in if you're in the neighborhood. One negative would be that the music is a little strange. They played a strange mix including "Ridin (dirty)" and then "I will always love you." That was kind of entertaining. read more

I used to live across the street from here and I would have the strangest cravings for all of their delicious food. Especially the garlic noodles, oh my gosh they are the most garlickly delicious noodles you can ever experience. Otherwise, it's nice to go into a thai restaurant in the ravenswood/andersonville area with somewhat hip decor and not to forget that it is incredibly cheap! So I recommend it highly, especially if you like your food extra spicy because when you ask for this there you definitely get SUPER SPICY! Carry out / Delivery is a good bet too they have high quality to-go boxes and chop sticks. Recently dined in at Yes Thai. I LOVE this place! The restaurant is on the small side but they play amazing music and have friendly servers. It is BYOB so that saves on the tab. We always get the crab rangoon for starters and you can never go wrong with deep fried cream cheese pillows. I tried something different than my usual pad thai. Been driving past this place for almost three years now and finally decided to drop in Saturday night. I thought my days of outdoor dining were behind me, but the weekend was a little warm for October. We sat outside and were quickly seated. It wasn't too crowded, which was nice and refreshing. I'm annoyed with myself for not bringing a bottle of wine! What the hell is wrong with me? Anyway, onto the food! I started with the springs rolls. DELICIOUS. I'm on a new kick to ignore fried rolls and go with the fresh, spring rolls. Tasty! My friend got the crab rangoon which she raved about. For my main course I went with the sweet n' sour tofu. Again, AWESOME. I have to say I was very pleased with my entire experience. Service was quick, attentive. I don't think my water glass ever went below the halfway point without our waitress refilling it. I will totally be coming back and I will totally be bringing a bottle of wine or 5. It is well known that I judge a Thai place on one thing: Crab rangoons. Yes Thai is ranking right up there with Cozy Noodles in Evanston (which is a good thing, because it is much closer to my house and will deliver to my apt). And their sweet and sour sauce was the bomb. We actually ate inside the restaurant, which was surprisingly trendy and well-decorated. I dig the ambiance here - most Thai places don't bother. Nice outdoor patio as well. Service was a little hurried. The place wasn't too crowded, so I knew we weren't being rushed out. It was just your typical Thai restaurant service - food comes out about five minutes after you order it. I thought the hurried pace clashed with the decor and ambiance, which made me want to sit and enjoy and savor. I had the Pad Thai with tofu, which was definitely on par with the best I've had in this city. I wanted the tofu to be a little crispier, but it was good nonetheless. Fiance had the Phuket, which had a terrific curry flavor and lots of big chunks of chicken. We managed to finish both portions, which rarely happens for us in a Thai place. So yes, the portions here are definitely smaller than other places. For takeout, we'd probably go with a place that doles out bigger portions. BYOB, nice ambiance for a cheap eats place. It would be a fun place to go with a group of friends for a cheap dinner without feeling too cheap and dive-y. One of the best BYOB joints in the city! I like to think my friends and I are seasoned BYOB veterans and this little place is a hidden gem. First of all, no corkage fee! At times we have up to one bottle per person at dinners of about 5-6 people. So worth it for that alone. Not ghetto! In my experience, a lot of BYOB places, especially Asian restaurants I have been to, are not kept up. They can be downright shady. Yes Thai is clean, trendy, modern and up to date. It is a small space, but large enough to accomodate an oversized group. They also have outdoor seating (although if you are drinking, you cannot sit outside). Affordable. This place is cheap. An entire entree for $8? When I can spend $20 on a full meal: appetizer, entree and booze, it's a good day. Accomodating. The entire staff is incredibly easy going and lovely. We called two days prior for New Year's Eve reservations for 15 people. Not only did they wrangle seating (and all together nonetheless) for us, but they also accomodated our time frame and the 100 bottles of wine we toted along with us. They take your beer or wine right away and put it in a cooler so you can enjoy a cold drink while you eat. They also box things up for you promptly and all the times I have been, the waitress wrote the date and what the contents were with a little smiley face on the box. So nice! Delicious. Yes Thai offers above all else, GREAT FOOD. I have tried several different things on the menu and have never been disappointed. My favorites are the stir fried shrimp, phuket noodles and the crab rangoon is ridiculous. I could eat 15 of them. My boyfriend is very picky and says the thai fried rice is the best he has ever had. The seaweed salad is among the freshest I've tried and the crispy tofu app is crispy and creamy in one bite, with just that little touch of vinegar to cut the friedness. They will also allow you to get very specific with the spiciness of your dish. From "just a touch" to "make you cry" spicy! I rarely ever review places that aren't worth five stars to me. My friend and I were out all day running errands, and somehow got to talking about thai food. One thing led to another, and we were on google looking for a good place near us. I had seen this place before, a thousand times, and always wondered about it. After seeing the reviews, we decided to give it a shot. Note, as others have before me, that this is byob. I got a nice Zinfandel that would go with spicy foods and we came in and sat on the patio. The inside looks quite sterile, to be honest, as its about as big as a closet, and everything is white. To start, we ordered the crab rangoons. It came with 6 perfectly fried wontons stuffed with cream cheese (and a HINT of crab). We both agreed (after having ravaged the appetizer in 5 minutes) that we would have loved to eat like 10 more. I ordered the pad thai with beef and tofu (extra charge, but worth it). The noodles were different than the noodles I am used to getting with pad thai, but this dish was truly amazing!! I squeezed two wedges of lime over it, added hot sauce, and devoured! It was sweet, spicy, and cooked perfectly. The meat was tender (and plentiful), and the tofu was seared to perfection with just the right amount of chew. My friend got something else, I don't know, something with wide noodles, baby corn, bell pepper, etc. It was super spicy, but in a good take your time eating kind of way. Our bill for two entrees and an appetizer was $28. Not bad at all. Oh! and they deliver! So that's exciting! read more

Just say Yes! After passing by this place a zillion times on Damen and Foster, on a dull Sunday night I decided to spice things up with some Thai. I was pleasantly surprised by the inside, all white and very clean.. and EMPTY! When places are empty sometimes you can't help but raise an eyebrow, but it must be because off its off the path location... Because the food is good. I went with my Pad See Eiw (chicken and broccoli) and my friend and I split the crab rangoon. I am not a huge fan of crab rangoon, but this really swayed my taste buds...it was light and I could actually taste crab. Service was perfect, and prices were reasonable. First started frequenting Yes! a few years ago when we were introduced by a couple of our friends who really loved it and it became our go-to double date or catch-up dinner spot. Really love the ambiance and BYOB for dining in and the staff is very friendly and attentive. More recently we have predominantly gotten their take-out, but it's our favorite Thai restaurant out of the dozens of others in the area. All the ingredients are always really fresh and it's definitely a step above your average Asian takeout. That definitely explains why it is slightly more expensive, but I would still like more if it were a little cheaper. Pad thai is always a standard solid option, but I love the rice entrees and it's worth it to pay extra for the brown rice (theirs is extra delicious). Also love the spring rolls, potstickers, and other apps or love to get the tom yum soup, esp if I'm feeling under the weather. Yes is a standout Thai spot and we love it! read more

Although their new website mascot kind of creeps me out (what's up with the cleavage shadows?), Yes Thai serves exemplary Thai food. I have been here three times and every time I've left full from the heaping portions, and had leftovers to take home. The location is good and you can generally find parking in the area. The prices are very good, as is the spice level. If you're one of the people who wants your food spicy, BEWARE! Their spicy is likely above your threshold. Their chicken satay is one of the best that I have ever had. The basil rice with chicken is tasty, but I really enjoyed the panang curry here. This quaint little BYOB is one of my favorite Thai dives in the city. Doesn't seat many patrons, and sometimes there's quite a wait but it's worth it. The quality of food is good; presentation is good enough, especially since most dishes are less than $10. The portions are not huge; but that's how Asian food is supposed to be. Try the Penang Curry dishes; they're not thick like most but very flavorful. Thirsty? Try the Thai Iced Coffee - good and strong! MMMM... Good food, good prices, and good service. My review is based on DELIVERY. After years of living by Yes Thai and always wanting to try it out, I finally ordered delivery from them. Their website is pretty hilarious; check it out if you haven't seen it. I find that it is a bit pricey for a Thai restaurant. I assumed this was a good thing because they must be pretty awesome. I'd say if you want to try them, go during their lunch special. We ordered the Peanut Salad, Tom Kha Soup, Pad Woon Sen and the Special Pad Thai. The vegetables and peanut sauce were great as far as the Peanut Salad goes; the tofu, not so much. It was soggy and not very appetizing. The Pad Woon Sen was pretty good. The Special Pad Thai only had 2 pieces of shrimp and wasn't that great according to my partner. He didn't care for the Tom Kha Soup either. There are other Thai restaurants in the neighborhood that I would rather order from that are a bit less and have better tasting food. I'll probably give Yes Thai another chance during lunch to see if my experience is the same. read more

Since the last time I'd been in, they seem to have increased everything on the menu by $2 and either bought new, larger plates or decreased the portion size. Nuts to that. Totally into Yes Thai, my favorite Thai place in Ravenswood. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. I have tried their rama chicken, ginger vegetable stir fry, red curry, woon sen, pad thai. This great little find was simply an accident for us! We felt like Thai food and went to one of our old faithfuls but they were closed. We looked up this place and were glad we did!! The Crab Rangoon were the best I have had in years... strangely it seems finding really great Crab Rangoon is hard to do!! I was there when they first opened and was overly impressed with the quality of food and service and the price as well. It was not expensive at all and I was even able to take a few people out there on a date without busting my wallet. Nowadays, with its new stylish contemporary look of the place, I have mixed feelings about how WHITE Yes Thai is these days. I feel overtime it will look dirty and grungy. Even yesterday when i went, I can see the dirt start to show off on the walls. Yes, it looks cool.. but still. Over the years I have had some issues with delivery and the quality of food and have complained about it and they were quick to respond to fix my order, but nowadays the price alone is way to much for what they serve. I can go to Cozy in Wriglyville or up in Evanston and pay $3 to 4$ less and get more food for the money I pay and still maintain that quality of my order. PERSONAL RECOMMENDATIONS Crab Rangoon. They are still amazing from this place. Rama Special. One of my favorite Dishes Tom Kha Soup: Still really one of the better places I have eaten All in all, it is still a great place but the price has definitely deterred me away from going here to often. I ate here the other night and it was an impressive experience! Not only is it really nice inside, almost surreal (like you are in a place you see in the movies or something) but the food was really tasty as well! I ordered the Red Snapper Fillet with a spicy sauce and my friend ordered the Basil Duck. We both enjoyed our entrees, the staff and the atmosphere. I haven't been to Yes Thai in ages as I've moved out of the neighborhood, but I recently made a pre-turtle racing trip up there and came away impressed - they've really cleaned up their act! The space is still cute, and now the quality of the food matches the feel of the room. We started with crab rangoon and potstickers, both of which were delicious. I then had pad see ew, and my friend had a chicken dish that she raved about. Yum! Service was good, food was good, and I think it's BYOB. What more could a girl want? You like Thai? I like Thai. You like shirt? One of my favorite Thai restaurants in the area. We usually start with the spring rolls and the crab rangoon. They have never disappointed. I usually stick with either the green chicken curry or the chicken drunken noodles. Both very delicious. We usually like to bring a bottle of wine and it is nice that they do not have a cork charge. They offer takeout and delivery but I can only review the restaurant for I like to eat there. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. There is one waiter in particular that I swoon over every time I come in. I usually hope to sit at his section. One day I did notice a hickey on his neck though that saddened me. Not because it affected my dinner, but because it was not placed there by me. Which I guess did affect my dinner. I just don't remember crying into my drunken noodles over it. Hmmm. read more

The name of this place had me thinking of a crusty hole-in-the-wall, but no! Yes Thai is actually rather chic and modern, but the prices aren't too shabby. We had to wait a while for a table even though we were the only ones waiting, but the staff was apologetic and grabbed us waters while we hung out awkwardly near the door of the very slim restaurant. There's just one chair for waiting, so it was kinda weird. Once we sat down, all was well. We got the chive pancake/dumpling things to start and they were quite tasty (similar flavor but mushier than Chinese scallion pancakes, if you'd like a comparison). I ordered the basil rice dish, which comes with your choice of ground meat (I went with chicken). It was basically a huge pile of deliciously spiced ground chicken, small bits of green beans and fresh Thai basil with a side of white rice. Brown rice is available with a small upcharge. My gentleman caller ordered the special pad Thai, which was made with thin glass noodles and served with chicken and shrimp, I think. It was also quite good, but I think I prefer the usual noodles to glass noodles. Also, weird note, but they have the most serious silverware here. It's wild. I have a feeling this is going to be a regular haunt for takeout, delivery and dine-in (BYOB) when I'm in Chicago. read more

My friend lives in the area and wanted to have dinner here. It's cozy, probably less than ten tables indoors with a few scattered outside as well. BYOB is always a plus. I was a bit too lazy to really peruse their menu and decided to just go w/ their house special pad thai. It came with chicken and shrimp. The portion was a bit smaller than what I'm used to. At most Thai restaurants, the portion is normally big enough for me to make two meals out of it. I was also shocked to see that there weren't very many noodles and instead it was chock full of chicken. I really like my noodles! It was tasty, but give me more noodles. Service was a bit poor. Immediately upon being seated, they asked if we were ready to order. We asked them to come back so we could at least look at the menu. We ended up having to flag somebody down to take our order. I wanted to ask for a condiment but nobody ever came to check in on us so I grabbed it off the counter. It wasn't bad but I think there are definitely better places. read more

When I moved into this neighborhood, I was super excited to have Thai food two blocks away. Unfortunately I've only been here 2 or 3 times, and those where when it was warm. I'll tell you why. It's like eating in the hallway of someones house. And they have a lousy taste in music. All the food I've had has been fine, nothing that really stood out. If it was farther away I might order delivery - I always feel guilty ordering from somewhere that I could just go pick up, and if I'm going to pick up I might as well eat there. Me and the huzzbunny had this Thai eatery on "let's eat here" list for quite some time. Alas, we finally headed over on a wintery Wednesday night. The restaurant, while small, was comfortable and romantic. We scanned the menu and quickly settled on a few items. HB is a vegetarian and we were very happy to see almost all the noodle and rice dishes could be made with tofu. The food arrives as ready, so I tucked in to my cucumber salad, which which was nicely drizzled with a tart dressing and made a clean and fresh appetizer. I very much enjoyed my chicken satays, as the meat was tender and the peanut sauce mild and not overly oily. HB dug into the Lard Nar with tofu and both of us were definitely members of The Clean Plate Club at the end of the meal. Overall the food was lovely and I would be very happy to head back. One disclaimer - -the music, while not too loud, was something out of a relentless Lite FM nightmare. Poofy, flimsy, cheeze-tastic lurvesongs wafting through the small space. People do not give enough 3-star reviews in my opinion! I have been here a couple times in the past and several more times since good friends recently moved right down the block and it's a really convenient order-in option. I've tried a variety of menu items and never left feeling overwhelmingly satisfied and yet I've never left feeling disappointed. Maybe I just have not found the 'one phenomenal dish' that would bump my rating, but I still hold true... there's something for consistency. And nothing has been bad. Dining in would put me more on the 3.5 stars side of things if such a thing were possible as the staff has always been pleasant and accommodating. I dine at Yes Thai often as it is mere blocks from my apartment, so this review is based on numerous visits over the past year. I've ordered a variety of items from the menu, and can honestly say I have never ever been let down by the food here. It is always fresh and delicious, with attractive presentation. Of course I always have to sample what my dining partner(s) order as well, so I can say I've tried nearly everything on the menu. Right now my faves are the drunken noodles, the panang curry, the crab rangoons and the fried shumais. Yum! In addition to the food, Yes Thai also earns points for having a nicer-than-average dining room, being BYOB and having an outdoor dining area. The only reason I am taking off a star is because sometimes the service isn't 100% awesome. There have been a handful of occasions (mind you, I eat there a LOT) where I or my dining partner have been brought the wrong order or had to wait more than a normal amount of time for our food. But other than that minor gripe, this place is great. Highly recommend. read more
