I have come here twice now, and while I do get my dim sum fix, I feel like the quality of the food is pretty average. I'm never really blown away, but it's also not too bad. Certain dim sum dishes are better than others - for example, stuffed eggplant, Egg tarts, charcoal egg yolk custard buns, hargow, fried shrimp balls. I haven't been too impressed with the Shanghai dumplings (xiaolongbao), Malaysian spongecake, beef balls, or spare ribs. The entree dishes have been okay in my experience. The salt and pepper tofu was good, but not your typical breading for this dish. It's a very large restaurant, service is always prompt, but it is cold inside. Overall worth a try! read more

We tried the Peking duck 2 ways which started with the traditional presentation followed my a tasty salad with the duck in it. The dressing was a chef's secret. ( We asked!) The mango dessert tasted great where the mango's flavor shone through. The restaurant was modern, clean and spacious. The servers were very attentive and made good suggestions. Our party of 3 tried YH Dim Sum for lunch on Sunday and walked away pretty satisfied. The restaurant is fairly new, so we knew there would be a few things to smooth out over time. But YH has the potential to be a really great Chinese restaurant addition to Jacksonville. We ordered the pork and shrimp shiu mai, fried shrimp balls, shrimp and chive dumplings, pan friend turnip cake, pork ribs, beef tripe, pork & preserved eggs congee, baked BBQ/char su pork buns, egg tarts, deep fried sticky pork dumplings, and combo fried rice. Everything tasted pretty good flavor-wise. The portion does come slightly larger than traditional dim sum in my opinion. I think due to being new, the temperature is where I have the most issue with. Some came piping hot (like the congee) or the tripe. There were other dishes that came at room temperature (like the turnip cake). I think that will get better as the restaurant operation gets into a rhythm. The restaurant is nicely decorated and very spacious. It can be great for large groups, special events/gatherings, and celebrations. The staff is very friendly and doing their best. We were there a few min before they open, and it took no time for the restaurant to be filled with a line. The servers still took good care of us despite the fact that you can tell some of them are pretty new. Overall a really good start and we hope to return soon. I agree with that other most recent review about doing pickup online order recently and items are missing. The receipt taped to the bag showed my name and phone number but showed items in the list which I did not order. And then the receipt showed 2 less quantity of an item that I ordered 4 of. Their main website also has certificate expired message, which is bad. So, pretty much, I overpaid them (and gave them generous 25% tip) for 4 items which I am missing in the online pickup bag. This is very shady. I feel like if I did check the receipt and state what it was, I think they may have just said "well, the receipt says this. So it is all we have to go off of". YH DIMSUM, I don't even know where to start. My bestfriend and I decided to try YH Dimsum for the longest time and we only heard great reviews about this place. YH DIMSUM is located across the walmart shopping center located at Philips Highway, you have to cross the flyover and on the left you will the restaurant. This restaurant is HUGE!! so much space which is good. The menu is overwhelming if you are not use to going to a Dimsum place but we love the fact that you can order Dimsum and just a normal chinese food. We ordered the original siomai, steamed ribs, shrimp balls, pineapple bun, chicken with mushrooms, chicken fried rice and lomien. That chicken with mushrooms was sooo good! definitely one of my favorite on the menu. Service here is quick! once you are done with your order in less than 5 minutes we got some of our orders. I was recommended this place by a few of my friends and I wish I could have liked it more. I ordered a lot of Asian specific foods rather than the American types, and I only ordered dimsum. Their rice rolls and food geared more towards Americans were good, but everything else was very lack luster, and I feel bad for saying that. Their chicken feet had a weird sour flavor after the fact (a Hallmark of the meat not being fresh). The beef short rib was good but I wish it was more flavorful. The pork short rib is soft and nice, but again, not very flavorful. I would say that the other dimsum places around town may be better for the traditional dishes. And usually also around town you get larger portion sizes. You get 3 chicken feet for 1 order here whereas 6 for ones elsewhere, so that's approximately half. Also, their water isn't filtered so you get the weird after taste that effects the food. The service here was very good. This place was truly made for Americans since, not a bad thing. Mostly with Chinese places you get the opposite where the food is bad and service is good. They were very attentive after you're seated, but it makes quite a while. They may be low on staff during rush hour. Can't blame them. They're doing their best. I went on a Sunday at noon, which I know is a rush hour, but the food still came very fast. Loved the service. Ambience is a bit lacking. It's funny how it looks like they just built around the original, what seems to me to be and old Olive Garden, for this place. I wish they had the traditional carts that they push around so you know what food you're getting. Lots of places have different styles of sauces for their dishes, and when you peek you can know if ex: a red sweet sauce chicken feet or a black bean chicken feet, so it can be a bit of a toss up. They interior is decorated well though, very clean and bright. Overall, is go here for the experience, and I admit I haven't tried anything other than the dimsum, so I can't speak to the rest of those. They could be very amazing for their entree dishes. I'll admit that I was pleasantly surprised by YH Dim Sum. The inside of the restaurant was beautifully decorated, very clean, and brightly lit. We love dim sum so we came in for lunch. There is a full menu of dim sum and "regular" chinese food dishes. We had a giant bowl of Wonton Soup to start, big enough for 2-4 people. Then we ordered Shrimp balls, Pork & Shrimp dumplings, shrimp & crab dumplings, and Chinese donuts. The Donuts were not sugary but a slight crunchy saltiness to them. it made for a great "table bread". The wonton soup had a very flavorful broth with lots of pork wontons and bok choy. I didn't have the shrimp & crab dumplings as I'm not a crab fan but Crystal liked them. She removed the "wrapping" and ate just the dumpling. The Pork and shrimp dumplings were great and steaming hot. The shrimp balls were hot, crunchy, and delicious. I am looking forward to my next visit. More dim sum or regular menu... First timers tonight. Wow. Love it. Beautiful next place, lovely location and wonderful staff. They were all so friendly. The place is big, bright and spacious. We were starving and have been craving Chinese food for some time now. We went with the fried calamari, soup dumplings, seafood hot and sour soup, typhoon twin lobster platter, and the sauteed snow pea leaves. Wow. We definitely over ordered, but totally worth it. The batter on the calamari was light flaky and so flavorful. The soup was good. Dumplings were also decent. The highlight was obviously the lobster platter. The outside of the building is pretty plain Jane, but when you walk in it's bright and clean. We were seated pretty quickly on a Sunday. We were there late afternoon, early evening hours I guess. So that was nice. Our server was great, very attentive, sweet, and honest and they do have a military discount. The food however was subpar. This place is the TRUTH for dim sum in Jacksonville. I've had dim sum in New York, and this was on par if not better than some of those places. Every dish we had was flavorful and exactly what we expected from dim sum. Our favorites were the salt and pepper calamari, chicken feet, sticky rice, fried shrimp balls, and shu mai. They don't physically push dim sum carts around. Instead, you order what you want and they bring it to you. I prefer this way since the food tastes hotter and fresher. Most of the flavors were on point with what I grew up eating in New York, the chefs are from NY and Canada. Don't let the word Dim Sum in the name of this restaurant fool you as they not only have Dim Sum they have the best Chinese food we have had in Jacksonville. First, let me describe the place, it's huge! It has nice white tablecloths which gives it a fancy look with the most comfortable chairs I've ever sat in, in any restaurant. We were seated at a table by the window with a nice view of a preserve. Our server Jean was so sweet. She showed us the many options and specials for their 5-7 pm happy hour as well as their Dim Sum menu, regular menu and their special Cantonese menu. Since drinks were $2 off for HH I ordered a Mai Tai. It came in a cool looking glass with a tiki face & tasted delicious. They told me the secret was a cinnamon syrup. I highly suggest trying it. When I first glanced at the menu some things looked quite expensive. But as I saw the food going out to other tables The portions looked huge big enough for at least 2 to 4 people to share. This made the prices reasonable. Make sure that you share when you go because they give you a lot of food. We ordered pork and shrimp dumplings, egg rolls, and fried dumplings for appetizers. All were very good and enough to share between the four of us. For dinner my husband and I shared the chicken and broccoli, which is his favorite dish. Most of the chicken and broccoli I have ordered here comes with a dark brown sauce. This came with a clear sauce . At first I thought it wasn't going to be good just by looking at it, but looks can be deceiving and it was absolutely delicious. The restaurant is large with lots of parking. The tables are spread out and there is great natural light. There are several different menus but we came for the dimsum. You get a dry erase marker and you fill out the laminated order sheet. Our server was good and she was able to answer our specific questions. Towards the end of the meal, a manager checked in to see how we enjoyed things. Some menu standouts for us were the Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Portuguese Egg Tarts, Shanghai Dumplings, Shrimp and Chive Dumplings. The pineapple buns were more like good custard buns. I went with a group of five other ladies for drinks and dim sum, and had a wonderful evening. We were unable to make reservations, but when we arrived, we were promptly seated. I'm not sure how many the restaurant holds, but is a decent size for small groups. The restaurant was clean and tastefully decorated. I rated them a 4 because the "menu" was very overwhelming. Basically, you get four or five menus depending on what time you go. It was so much for my brain to sort through. You get a lunch menu, a dim sum menu, a regular menu, a specials menu, and group/catering menu all at the table upon arrival. If I were to make a recommendation, it would be to shrink that list at least by half. We clumsy navigated the dim sum menu because a few of us have had it before, but I would not recommend a novice trying to order from that menu without any help. There is no explanation of what is in each item, which is typical, so if you're not sure what something means you're on your own. We ordered wine, about 10 items from the dim sum menu, and a few plates from the regular menu. Items started coming out very quickly, and everything was presented very nicely. This place has a massive menu. I came here for lunch with my mom and we ordered entirely way too much food. The service was good and speedy. I will say that the seafood soup was extremely bland and the shrimp plus scallop was on the smaller side. Will definitely stay away from that next time. The server brought out all the sauces. I think the siracha and sweet soy sauce was probably the only ones that we liked. All the dim sum was good and so was the fried noodle. October 20, 2024 - On a recommendation, 5 of us went for brunch. Plenty of parking, friendly staff, and easy to read/understand menu. We selected 6 or so off of the dim sum menu, and 3 items off of the traditional menu. Every choice was thoroughly enjoyed.
