What whuuuut! a Creperie in Southland Mall! Big Ups to my little sister, Megan, for introducing me to this foodcourt find! I only loved crepes from my time in hawaii and this place totally hit the spot! they have 5 different types of savory crepes, we ordered the chicken pesto and a nutella/fresh bananas/ and ice cream! it's the bomb!! sooooooooo good, next time i'm not sharing, Sorry Meg! I've been going here for over 2 years now? I'm not even sure. I've tried other places and I can now say that this is one of the BETTER places. I like that the price is only 33 cents an ounce. (Most places are 39 cents, shoot it adds up quick) I like how their yogurt is tart and creamy. I usually get the strawberry and mango. I've also tried their original which is pretty good too. I just like the texture and consistency. I've gone to Yo-swirl in Fremont and I've gone to yogofina in Oakland. (Both fall far behind yo-bowl when it comes to taste) Here is the downside though. They have a limited amount of flavors to choose from. I think they have about 6-7-8 or so flavors? toppings are just like any other yogurt place so that didn't stand out too much. All I knew was that the strawberries and mango were fresh. (that's what I'd usually get) They also make crepes and smoothies. I haven't recalled having a crepe here so I can't say much about that. The smoothies are good. However if you are there, I think the person who made me my smoothie was named Bao. he made is really good. So I'd still give them 5 stars even though they have a limited selection of flavors. I guess because it is inside a shopping mall and limited on space. They are just making due with what space they have. But yeah if you are craving a yogurt cup, I would recommend going here. read more

Does not offer free refills of green tea ice tea. I paid $4.39 for this Ice tea! Had there been a sign "no refills" I would not have bought it. It did not even taste that good. Tasted like perfume. I love this place! I work in the mall and love going here for lunch. The crepe with chicken, feta and all the veggies is delicious! And I get their raspberry green tea almost daily. Their yogurt is bomb too! My only complaint Is the iced coffees here. Every employee makes them differently, and I would rather know what my drink is going to taste like every time I order it. This place is located in the food court of Southland Mall. Since Frodo Joe's is on a holiday break, I had a hankering for crepes and this is usually my alternative. I've been here a few times, and I must say their crepes are really good. I get the chicken pesto and cheese crepe, and the filling is quite generous. Every once in awhile I get a dessert crepe, and those are really good too. I was quite surprised when I first came here. I avoid the milk tea, because it's just powder and I didn't like it very much. However, their smoothies are good, and I like getting the avocado smoothie. The pricing is average, but it isn't a place I would go to all the time. My favorite tea and crepe place! Very affordable. My usual order is large peach green tea and banana Nutella crepe with whip cream. Occasionally ill add on a scoop of strawberry yogurt. I go here all the time when I get out from the gym. The people there are very friendly and do an awesome job with their presentation. One good thing about this place is that they have a total of 3 flavors with a "Flavor of the month" totaling 4 flavors, even though ive seen them make one of there flavors of the month the original vanilla flavor (which is on the menu anyways)......go figure. read more

Yo Bowl is surprisingly good for a quick smoothie and/or crepe at Southland Mall. I ordered savory crepe 1A: Spinach, mushroom, tomato, cheese, feta, and pesto, which comes with a side of fruit or salad. Fruit for me, please! I was pleased with my little cup of pineapple, watermelon, and grape. The freshly made crepe is a little crunchy, a little sweet, and thinner than the crepes from Crepevine (this is a plus). Melted cheeses surround mushrooms, tomatoes, and wilted spinach. Their tasty pesto sauce marries the whole crepe package into a satisfying meal. As an aside, I have also tried their peach fuzz smoothie and mango smoothie. Although their smoothies don't taste quite as healthy as Panera's, I do think they are on the better end of drinks offered at the mall. I've gotten a few of them while on rotation at Hayward Wellness and have enjoyed each of them. The reason why they are a step above other smoothies is because they have yogurt and fruits in them instead of artificial flavoring. Kudos to Yo Bowl for this! SECOND IMPRESSION I was willing to give them another try and I did. I went with my gf and she was pretty excited about getting crepes when we passed by and saw it being made in front of our eyes. The workers were friendly and extremely courteous, offering free samples of the yogurt in little paper spit cups. (I previously gave such a harsh review because first time I was here I was the only person waiting at the counter and none of the workers went as far as to put down their phones and acknowledge my presence. That was before.) This time, no texting teenyboppers in sight, just serious minded individuals passionate about serving desserts. ORDERING / CUSTOMER SERVICE The few flavors were pretty standard. I tried a couple samples which tasted pretty yum. I ordered a vanilla yogurt but the smallest size came in a bowl that was 2x more than I could handle--this was before toppings. I wanted to get a smaller portion but the sizes are limited. I scooped my own mixed fruit toppings to keep it somewhat healthy but as soon as it plunked down at the register in the $6-9 range (maybe bc the crepes?) I felt indulgent and guilty as I watched my frugality fly out a nearby escalator. Then again, other froyo places charge similarly and the only way to save $$$ is to get smaller portions but who wants to do that when it looks so delicious? The pricing, I wish, could be made clearer so we know what we're getting into. Also, while I was busy deciding on mango or peach, the guy originally helping me started on another customer which was cool with me because they could move on instead of putting me on the spot while I hold up the line--plus the other guy was in a wheelchair so it was pretty awesome how much love was being tossed around in there. TASTING THE CREPE Crepes crepes crepes. I've had authentic French crepes cooked from scratch in front of my eyes on a professional skillet by a chef bold enough to go to Paris and cook for people in the land that begat the thing, and I must say, his was quite good. Before that, I've only experienced cheapo street crepes. The one we got at Yo Bowl was indicative of the latter. I was pretty excited to eat the crepe, but looking back, my usually boisterous gf wasn't saying a peep about it other than asking if I want to try it. The making of part looked impressive but the end product was chewy and rubbery in texture. I ate it but felt like I had to because we paid for it. It was alright, though I would feel really good if the ingredients were pure, simple, healthy, and proudly displayed upfront. This goes for all food, including the yogurt. ENJOYING THE YOGURT After sampling a so-so crepe I felt evil inside thinking the froyo dessert in hand promises to be the better of our two choices. I had a lot of yogurt and it was freezing cold in the paper cup so I went back and asked for another layer of paper cup which they gladly provided. I got some cool colored spoons and napkin as well. Now by the time I really started to dig in it had already begun to melt. This was a tremendously fast process that was outpacing my ability to scoop up the liquidized areas. I didn't mind at all because there was so much of the cold stuff to go around. I wished I had gotten a graham cracker or something with a little crunch to vary up the texture because it did start to taste like there was a lot. Still pretty tasty but a chore trying to finish it all before leaving the mall. The syrup part tasted very non-yogurty and a little too sweet, leaving me wondering whether or not Corn Syrup had been added at any stage after the original milking. CONCLUSION / FINAL THOUGHTS I wanted to love this place so bad but felt underwhelmed. I desperately want to know what I'm eating and would like to have some sort of ingredients / nutrition info (including toppings) clearly displayed. Kudos on the friendliness & free samples. This time they win hands down on the service side and the actual product rises above subpar, even surpassing mediocre. Chances are high I'll find myself killing time while waiting for an oil change or tire rotation at Sears on a hot day when I'm in need of cooling. I can go back and find something tuned to my cold and sweet radar. Just the fact that it's froyo leaves the door open for me trying it again but I remain skeptical and curious about nearby alternatives. I must commend the owner for bringing froyo to the area. Just when Southland is losing some long time food court staples, a new one comes in to make us think of the good old days when all we ate were sweets. read more

Their drinks are very good, even though it is mostly powder so I usually try to get the ones with real fruits in it. My mom loves the taro, she says it's the best she's ever had. The tapioca pearls don't taste bad either. The workers are alright, depending on who you get. I've had ones that were a blast and ones who could barely understand what you just said. Went to YO BOWL (WTH kind if name..) and ordered the strawberry yogurt as the Chocoloate machine was being cleaned. Added all kinds of sillyness to it like gummi bears, sprinkles and oreo cookies. The yogurt itself was too sweet and the artificial sweetener tasted gross. The toppings helped balance things out a bit. I went with my wife who liked her yogurt, she got the plain tart flavor.
