This place always hits the spot !!! I usually get the 3 dish lunch special which is more than enough & a good value !! It went up to $19.95 & the 2 dish went up to $16.95 ! My dining partner got the unagi ‍ over rice Service is always quick, efficient & attentive & always refilling hot tea !! Sounds elevated when busier but never too loud !!

Craving sushi and this was the first recommended place by Yelp. But, my wife was a bit hesitant due to the number of reviews. After looking into the reviews, they were all great and positive. We curated our food items to order, called over the phone, the host that helped us said it would be 40 minutes. We picked up the food and were surprised with the quality. The restaurant looked like your typical Japanese spot; updated and clean. The reviews lived up to expectations! Rolls were a great size, fish was fresh, generous portions throughout. Will be our go to spot moving forward when we don't wanna drive 20+ minutes for sushi!

Lunch 3 Items: sashimi, mackerel, and tonkatsu
    Selina L.

Good food, clean restaurant, and amazing service! I got a lunch combo with 3 items and liked everything. My tonkatsu was crispy and tender on the inside. The fish sashimi was very fresh. And my mackerel fish was cooked well, lightly seasoned just the way I like it. How are they possibly offering these lunch specials at these prices!!! Amazing value! I came with a group of friends and everyone liked their food. One friend thought the teriyaki chicken was overdone but I didn't try it myself so can't judge. I bet my kids will want teriyaki chicken so I'll definitely order next time to try for myself. I will be coming here more often. And I will bring my friends and family! Parking in that lot can be hectic on a busy weekend or Friday. But there's usually plenty of street parking in Pinole downtown.

I placed an order online for a quick dinner pick-up. The place was very busy on a Friday, so it was a good call-- the roll was yummy & I would definitely get it again! One of my favorite go-to places for a take out dinner. The restaurant is small so I wouldn't really want to eat there, def would recommend for more of a takeout spot!

I have been to the Yo Sushi in Albany, but this was my first time at the Pinole restaurant. My son ordered takeout and I went to pick it up. The restaurant is very clean and welcoming with Christmas lights and decorations. The service was very warm and welcoming. They even served me tea while I waited for my order. They were busy with orders for takeout and a few tables were occupied. Our takeout order of sushi came in a to go platter which was very nice. We got a large assortment of sushi and they were all tasty. I will have to try some of the other items on the menu. I would say Yo Sushi is a place to order takeout and having a casual Japanese dinner. I forgot to mention that there isn't a bar for sushi.

Wanted sushi that was close to home. Found it !! Restaurant had one other patron and a couple were placing orders to go Service was quick and easy. The menu is pretty extensive with reasonable prices and items for everyone. We ordered the golden gate, San Pablo Ave, spicy tuna and awesome rolls. All were delicious. The addition of red onion seemed to cut the richness of the rolls, while also adding a nice flavor and crunch. I had the seaweed salad, not as sweet as I'm used to but it was good. They offer you hot tea and water while you wait. Nice restaurant in what has always been a hot dog spot. Very nicely done with jazz playing and closed caption tv with sushi restaurants on.

Nov 7 2025 1pm We finally stopped in for a sit down meal. The wait staff are sweet and the food presentation was awesome. I posted a couple of eye popper videos. Considering the times I feel like you get a good bang for your buck here. I'm looking forward to them getting their alcoholic beverage license. The only negative for me is the volume of the music they play. It may be turned up to mask the street noise but better to have more low volume speakers spread around than what seemed to be one loud one. Makes it hard to hold a conversation.

Updating last review to add a star back. Phone orders ensures my order is right and the estimated time of pick up is more accurate. Food is still delicious and packed well (props to the waitress/cashiers for packing my order as requested)!!

Excited about my Shooting Star roll
    Donna T.

Stopped in for an early dinner shortly after opening and was seated immediately. Cute vibrant little space to grab Japanese and sushi. Our damage: *Shooting Star Spicy roll: my favorite of all of them! Flavorful with great textures from the crispy shrimp and buttery fish. *Ichiban roll: love Hamachi and this one had fresh flavors with the avocado since it isn't covered in sauce. *Deluxe Crispy: tasty and I appreciated the fresh toppings of radish and crab to counter the crispy components Really generous portion sizes and great value with the affordable prices. Would try a location closer to me since there's a few stores (though this might be the only sit down location) Solid!

Yay another sushi spot in my hood! Although it's a chain, I was pretty impressed with the Yo Sushi that opened up in Pinole. I've been to the Vallejo one when I was younger and though it seemed like "takeout sushi" it was my quick fix for my sushi craving. Location is in a small plaza on San Pablo Ave in downtown Pinole. Small cute modern resto with very nice staff and very tasty rolls! The menu was pretty extensive - appetizers, sushi, bento boxes, udon/ramen. Hope they add green tea ice cream in the future. I ordered 2 rolls- they were delicious and aesthetically appealing. Their sushi chefs are Highly recommend the following: -Starry Night - shrimp tempura, crab, avocado, salmon and lemon slices -Ichiban- yellowtail, unagi, avocado, cucumber Prices were decent (cheaper and bigger than the rolls at the Happy Ramen and Sushi spot down the street) and the service was prompt. The owners/staff were working hard and hope this place sticks around. I want to try the more rolls, soups and bento boxes!

had such an amazing experience at this sushi restaurant! The food was absolutely outstanding--every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The sushi was incredibly high quality, and you could really taste the freshness of the fish in every bite. The service was also excellent--friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome from start to finish. The atmosphere was clean, relaxing, and perfect for enjoying a great meal. If you're looking for delicious sushi and a great dining experience, I highly recommend this place. I'll definitely be coming back!

Miso Soup & salad (salad was very fresh. Great dressing!)

Well, 3.5 stars. A definite "we'd come back!" They just opened a few days ago. Sushi & sashimi were amazing & delicious. We also ordered the Kitchen Combos. They were okay to good. The sauces were inconsistence. Service was good. Attentive. Yay! This Yo Sushi was different from others I've been to. Usually, you stand in line, order, find a table and grab your food when your number is called. This one had table service! It was all very sweet! Tables line both sides of the restaurant. Two door to enter - one off of San Pablo & the parking lot.

New spot in town. We ordered to go and the food was packed very well. The food was very good. Usually food looses some of the umph on the drive... but the food stayed fresh and tasty, even the gyoza stayed crispy. We ordered the Lion King Roll, CA roll, golden gate roll and a teriyaki chicken plate. All of it was tasty!

Sushi is great, ramen is a hard no. Only gave me about 1 cup of broth and chashu is so bland.

Bland. Definitely a chain food experience. I didn't enjoy it. I ordered California roll, spider roll, but, and dragon roll.

Have ordered three times now, and this place is so lovely. Fish is super fresh, the best chirashi around I think.

The standard of food has gone down. The standard of service has also been on the fence about how the treat customers.

The happy hour menu is limited, but it features a fair selection of rolls. I personally only had the Crunch Roll, which was about $3 off on happy hour Miso Soup: The soup was nothing special. A little bit too salty for me, but otherwise was alright. California Crunch Roll: I really enjoyed this a lot. It's their california roll but with the sauce and crunchy flakes on top. The rolls itself were delicious and plentiful and the happy hour pricing was a plus for me. Dinner Bento: The salad was good, and I really liked the dressing. The veggie tempura were fried correctly and the tempura sauce was alright. The rice was pretty sticky for my taste. My disappointment was in the teriyaki chicken. The pieces themselves were fine, but it was the sauce that was getting to me. It just felt off and didnt really taste like teriyaki sauce to me. Overall, not a bad experience. May consider coming here again.

Their bento box is amazing. Chicken and beef teriyaki are my favorites. The tempura is crispy and delicious. Their sushi rolls are fresh and delicious every single time. Their service is excellent and quick. They are patient and aim to make you happy with your meal. The dining room is a little on the dark side but seating is adequate. Definitely a great place for the family. Parking lot is spacious with handicap parking spots right at the entrance.
