Great little hole in the wall sandwich shop! Don't let the area deter you away from this place! I was visiting for the week and I looked up places to eating during my stay. Yo-Way popped up on yelp with 800+ 5 star reviews. I thought...no way could it be this good with only 5 stars. My friend lives just about less than a mile away so that was super convenient! When we arrived, we were the only ones so we got all the attention. The person behind the counter was so nice. He knew it was our first time here judging by our confused looks. Customer service is on point! You order by putting your name on the piece of paper and check off which sandwich you want. You can build your own or check off one of their own. I checked off the Blazin Cajun and my friend built her own. I just want to say that these sandwiches are soooooo fresh. The sauce, the meat, the lettuce, and even the bread. Super fresh tasting. Even my friend who built her own was in love with her sandwich. We were even greeted by the owner and he was so courteous and nice!! Love supporting local businesses. They're soooooo dope that I could kick myself for not dropping in when I flagged them about a year ago. The awesome company that I work for encouraged the staff to buy a meal (their treat... yay!) at black-owned businesses in support of Juneteenth. A sweet L.A. I found the sandwich shop from our former CM Chelsea, foodie lover extraordinaire. For some reason after flagging it, & life happens (my kiddos), I totally forgot about it. :-| With a reason & nudge with a free meal, I got online & ordered 3 sandwiches: POPPIN PASTRAMI (Boar's Head pastrami, white American cheese, BBQ, honey & spicy mustards, tomatoes, pickles, spinach, red onions, banana peppers, French roll), BLAZING CAJUN (Boar's Head cajun smoked turkey, pepperjack cheese, cajun mayo, honey mustard, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickles, spinach, red onions, banana peppers, squaw bread), CHICKEN SALAD (chicken salad, Boar's Head provolone cheese, honey mustard, tomatoes cucumbers, spinach, red onions, banana peppers, sweet French bread) for dinner pick-up. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem -- figuratively & literally... that I missed the driveway & had to do a uey; the sandwich shop is tucked away in a tiny strip mall (look out for a liquor store). Since COVID-19 & the return of dining in, customers are still keeping social distance when eating in or picking up take-out. Service was prompt & my order was ready when I got there, & the sandwiches were still warm (I requested the bread to be toasted)! ヽ(*‿*)ノ I had the pastrami (hot sandwich), & it was amazing! It came with BBQ sauce, which I thought was strange, so I ordered without it. I love the flavor profile: warm, ooey gooey cheese; sweet & spicy mustard to give it a bit of kick with a touch of sweetness, pickles & banana peppers for texture & acidity; fresh & crunchy veggies contrasted the warmth of the pastrami & toasted roll. Being a glutton, I also snuck in a bite of my husband's cajun turkey (kept all the fixings), & I couldn't decide it I like mine better or his; as well as my daughter's, it was also yummy. I held the banana peppers because she considers it spicy; I took the bite with a banana pepper. Can you say yum? ;-) My only complaint... the filling was a bit on the thin side, especially comparing the older pics, which looked loaded; a couple of regulars had mentioned this too. It's an average portion of filling:bread. I'm almost satisfied, but that's probably because I worked though (skipped) lunch. :-X My husband is eating lighter these days so he felt it was more than enough, & H was perfectly happy with her half (saving the other portion for tomorrow). And the coupon code: yoway5 didn't work online & I forgot to ask about it when I paid. This place is definitely a must, not just in support of black-owned businesses, but because of their fantastically bomblicious sandwiches. I have loved this sandwich spot for so long. I've been coming here for years and whenever the owner isn't there and it's just the younger individuals they can never make the sandwich how you ask for it and it's frustrating. I don't even remember the name of the sandwich I got- but man, it was so great. Great quality meats & cheeses. The bread was soft & super fresh. Veggies were crisp. I first came to Yoway around 4-5 years who street my friends Brian told me about the place. Since then, I've brought my boyfriend here and it is hands down his favorite sandwich place of all time. He brought his younger brother here who also loved itand wants to bring his youngest brother here too to share in his joy. The portions of the sandwiches did get smaller, but I wasn't sad about it. Normally i would be, but I still left fully satiated and happy, so that's good for me. Honestly though, more then the meat, the bread really does it for me. It's SO delicious every time.
