Love the food & service! Best place for sushi that's close to home!

LOVE this place!! Stopped by this small hidden gem. Had the lunch special. A large spicy teriyaki bowl and it reminded me of home. It's a clean establishment and has a friendly staff. I was surprised it was busy for a Monday lunch because it was hidden away. I was also surprised how quick they were able to get me my food. Great portions and amazing flavor. Had an upgraded mom and pop shop feel to it. I love these types of hidden places that you always are searching for. read more

So happy to find this place. Excellent teriyaki! Huge portions, fresh and terrific. Great value, great tasting teriyaki sauces (try the spicy). Being from Washington state with teriyaki on every corner, you get spoiled. This place can hang with the best of them. Our new go to place for teriyaki and dynamite sushi! I got the lunch special and it was not good at all. I spent $12 on it, that's not a lunch special. It came with a fountain drink, I ordered teriyaki chicken and beef. It was bad. They have all the extra sauces behind the counter it would take a lot of sauce to get through this meal and I didn't bother. The two ladies at the counter weren't friendly. I won't say rude but they weren't friendly at all. I didn't bother asking for extra sauces to actually get the food down because they weren't inviting. They have sushi but I won't be back to try it. Typically I thought of this place as a 3/5 because it's easy and quick food to pick up. Average food. I think they changed ingredients or something because their yakisoba tastes so much better! Plus they updated their menu. read more

As always the food is delicious at this location specifically. The reason I took off a star is because of the horrible hip-hop music they were playing rather loudly in the restaurant which makes it hard to enjoy your food when all you hear is hip-hop music and loud beats. I know that makes me sound like an old fogey but when I go out to eat somewhere I don't want to be bombarded by power 102 music. Don't get me wrong I do like rap I just don't like to hear it loudly while I'm eating at a restaurant, the employees were very friendly and very helpful we talked about 40 bucks between the both of us read more

I spent a full 5-days in Yokohama at one point in my life, so you will NOT challenge my authority on reviewing this type of cuisine. I used to like to go here for sushi, they had really nice rolls. I went there on my lunch break the other day, and was so disappointed. I had the Salmon with rice, without teriyaki sauce, because I don't like sweet sauce. The Salmon was overcooked, and so dry. I asked for ginger and wasabi, because I like them both to mix with soy sauce. The ginger was bitter, it wasn't fresh, and I couldn't even eat it, and I asked for another one to try, and they all tasted bad! The manager said that is all we have, they are all the same. He said "I even had it it earlier, and it is good. I used to go to other locations in CA, which were much better, they had lunch specials and you could get salad or other choices with your meal. They just lost a good customer, this is the first time I ever had Ginger, that wasn't fresh. read more

Beef teriyaki is underwhelming, actually I didn't like it at all. It didn't taste fresh and it was so sweet I couldn't even identify that it was beef. Would have been better off with a TV dinner. My husband on the other hand views this place as a good option when running errands in the area because it's "fast and cheap". If you work/live anywhere in Mesa, this is the Go-To place for lunch. I have been here numerous times and each time the quality of the food amazes me. I get their Chicken lunch bowl specials (substitute white meat for $1 extra) with a drink for $9. The portion is generous, with freshly grilled chicken on a bed of the best white rice I have had outside of a fine-dining restaurant. All of this topped in a sweet teriyaki sauce. In one word, it is amazing! Add on some Sriracha sauce and a touch of soy sauce and for the next 12-15 minutes, your stomach and face will be smiling. If this is your first time going, try their lunch specials and go from there. Their sushi is also fresh, but not my number choice if I have a craving for it. Their Katsu plate is also dynamite (thinly sliced fried chicken strips with a Katsu sauce on the aforementioned white rice. I highly recommend this place as a hangout spot with friends or a casual date. Did I mention the White Rice is amazing? read more

Keeping it simple, Yogis Grill is an excellent choice if you're in the mood for sushi or other popular Japanese dish (albeit Americanized), but don't have the time or money to eat at a fancy Japanese grill. The 4-Star rating is not comparing it to a high end sushi/Japanese restaurant, but rather comparing it to others in its own class. The service was great; we weren't rushed. The facility is well kept and clean. We got our food in a few minutes after ordering, which is a huge plus over the typical 15 minute wait for sushi. The food was surprisingly good. We ordered a teriyaki chicken bowl and two different sushi rolls. Honestly, it wasn't bad! Here's what kept it from being a 5-Star (in its class): The soysauce was watered down and the wasabi was weak. Overall, a surprisingly good expereince for a fast food Japanese restaurant. I'm sure I'll find myself here again when I'm in the mood and in a rush. read more

Just because this place is in a strip mall and is technically fast food, doesn't mean it's not the best chicken teriyaki bowl in town! I have only tried the chicken teriyaki bowl and each time, it's the best I've ever had. Wonderful sauce---not too sweet and superbly grilled chicken. Every time I come out this way, I make place to stop in for lunch or dinner. Best $7.50 you'll ever spend on a bowl and drink. Nice staff too. Someday, I will try their sushi. read more

I stopped here for dinner last night and it was really enjoyable! We got a little too much food - a Spicy California roll, a Dragon roll, the Arizona bowl, gyoza and their croquette - but it was all very good. I appreciated being able to get my sushi fix without having to drive further or go to a more expensive restaurant, and the Arizona bowl was really delicious. The way they serve the food in disposable containers does seem a little wasteful because of all the trash they generate. I can understand it being handy to take food home without getting a separate container, but they cut off the lids to the larger meal size containers anyway, making it impossible to do so. I think they could be a little "greener" and maybe even save some money by using less plasticware. Overall, definitely a place I will return to! read more

Good sushi for a reasonable price. I highly recommend the crunch roll! They also have teriyaki bowls which are really tasty and the regular size is filling. If you are going to go, look for coupons that arrive in the mail. I love this place because they also have kids sized teriyaki bowls so there is something there for my whole family. This location has always been clean and the food has always been made promptly with no issues. Only thing I don't like is that it is closed on Sundays. read more

The food here is delicious and it's really fast service. Definitely try the firecracker roll, it's HUGE but it's so yummy.

Tried this location for the first time. Not as good as other locations. Their chicken was chewy/rubbery like it had been warmed in the microwave and they put green pinions on everything without asking. Other locations ask if you'd like onions, ginger and wasabi. I absolutely love this place, their food is The best, (why leave 1star you ask, because I want them to GET RID OF GRUB HUB) I ordered my food 1 hour ago, I called the restaurant after 15 minutes and they said it was ready BUT THE DRIVER WAS 15 min away so when I got my food it was cold! I have ordered from here 10+ in the last 2 months (my appliances hadn't been delivered in my new house) but i WILL NEVER order from grub hub again. I hate to leave this and I'm sure yelp will hide this because they own Grubhub but I hope everybody gets rid of this shitty service read more

I have been coming to this location for 8 plus years with my family and friends and have always recommended it to everyone. However I would say within the last year or so this new kid ( not sure of his name) started working there and he has the worst attitude ever and every time I place and order he is very short and lacks all customer service skills. For example, I call and he picks up the phone and says hello as if I am his mother telling him to clean his room and I am bothering him and every time I tell him and item I want he replies with k in a very rude tone. Now back when the kid with the long hair worked there everything was smooth and the best service ever and I loved coming into him because he would always greet us kindly. You guys should do something about this new kid before you lose more customers including myself . Food is always 5 star you guys are great rock on! But I'm gonna give you a 1 star until you get rid the of the F boy at the front counter. read more

Went to Yogis for lunch today with my son. Food was good. We ordered 3 regular chicken/steak bowls. After I paid I noticed that we ordered the lunch special that comes with a drink. I asked if we ordered the lunch special and if we got a drink. The young lady behind the counter said no that the special came with a drink... We ordered the bowls, why would you not offer the upsell lunch special with the drink? When our food was ready, she put it on the counter and turned her back to us. As we were at the door she says "Have a nice day....(under her breath) bitch"! My son heard it and so did the incoming customers. Nice customer service and way to be a good example to a younger teenager. Lousy behavior and won't be going back anytime soon! We normally go quite often. read more

Tried this place last night. Not amazing, not terrible. Being from the PNW, I found myself longing for my favorite Teriyake joint in Tigard. The sauce is a little too sweet and not as robust as I'd like. The noodles tasted like curry which threw me off. The chicken was tasty and had that nice char. The beef was tender (sampled my husband's) but truthfully, my favorite was the spicy California roll. I'd definitely go back to have that and some of the other menu items. read more
