I ordered a Mango Pomelo Sago for my boyfriend and I wanted the Cheese Kyoto Grape (I really can't pass up anything purple), but they didn't have any left, so I just ordered the Matcha Volcano instead. The drinks were both order with 25% sugar. I can only speak for my Matcha Volcano and I thought it was pretty good. You can definitely taste the matcha and it wasn't chalky at all, so that's good! Apparently the volcano drinks are the brown sugar drinks. The boba was nice and chewy, however when I received my drink, the boba on the bottom was very warm, so it made my drink a bit on the warmer side, which I wasn't too crazy about. Overall, not bad! Luckily I did lower the sweetness because the boba is honey boba not complaining about that but I wouldn't have enjoyed the drink as much. I was looking for light, sweet drink with a caffeine kick and I knew boba was the perfect drink for that! I stopped by Yokee and was surprised to see how small it was. No seriously, you pretty much have to order and just step outside and wait, especially if there are others there. For a small boba shop, they have quite an extensive menu. I ended up getting the Rose Milk Tea (~$4) with 50% ice and 50% sugar. They only have one size, I believe. It's a lovely soft pink color but tasted even better! I'm not sure if they use real ingredients because the rose was a bit too subtle. It was still good and the adjusted sweetness and ice was perfect for a drink like this. They also have a punch card which gets you a free drink after 10 stamps. So, make sure you take advantage of that. Since trying Yokee Milk Tea for the first time a week ago, I have not been able to get this place out of my mind! Think I'm going to have to make a visit soon. After taking a jog around Lake Merritt on a lovely, sunny day I found myself in need of refreshment and I had a particular hankering for an avocado smoothie. Thanks to Yelp I was able to find this highly rated milk tea spot. On this occasion we were easily able to find street parking but could see that being more of a challenge during busy hours as it is located downtown. For the record this place is tiny, much more of an order and go type place. However, there are a couple seating options. My man and I were able to relax and get a few rounds of Connect Four in while waiting for our order. We ended up with an avocado smoothie and a matcha (green) milk tea with cheese mousse. The avocado smoothie was solid and satisfied my craving. Though I wouldn't call it the best I've ever had, I appreciated the smooth, creaminess and avocado flavor, would have liked just a little more of that. But, I ended up LOVING the matcha with cheese mousse - true, smooth matcha goodness perfectly accented by the slightly salty, light and creamy cheese mousse. Yokee Milk Tea is a fun addition to the Oakland boba scene, located a couple blocks away from Lake Merritt. The cashier was very attentive to my lactose needs and offered soy and almond milk alternatives. I got the Puff Cream Milk Tea with Almond Milk, 50% sugar and it was delicious! AND HOLY MAC IT WAS DELICIOUS. The combo of sweet yet bitter was amazing! I knew there was actual tea inside and the sugar level was low and wow. The sizing of the drink is nice too. The mocha was lukewarm by the time I got it. The taste was off, largely because the milk and the other mixes were in different temperatures. This is a tiny but cute milk tea shop off of a bustling street so it may be hard to find but it will be worth it! There's not much seating but the little seating they do have is so cute, cozy, and comfy-looking. I tried the matcha volcano boba with no sweet and it was amazing just the way it was! Banana is one of my favorite flavors of pretty much anything and it's my favorite fruit, but the majority of boba places I've been to don't have banana drinks. Yokee is helping to stave off the banana drought. This very tiny hole in the wall is pretty popular and can have a line going out the door sometimes, but it's quite good. They offer milk tea, fruit tea, cheese mousse tea, and fresh juice. The cheese mousse teas can either be ordered with a cheese mousse, durian mousse, or no mousse, and the fruits on offer for the fresh juice teas can either be ordered as slush, smoothie, milk, or juice, depending on the fruit (banana is available as either a smoothie or milk, but not as slush or juice, for example). Fruit juices are between $4 and $4.25, cheese mousse teas are $4 to $4.50, milk teas are between $3.50 and $4, fruit teas are $4.25 to $4.95 (!). Definitely not the cheapest boba I've ever had, but it is some of the best I've tried. Sugar and ice levels are customizable and there's a variety of toppings at $0.50 each. Yokee's drinks come in adorable cups that look like coffee cups, but only the milk and fruit teas, not the fresh juice (don't know about the cheese mousse teas). I ordered the banana smoothie fresh juice ($4.25 plus $0.50 boba) and the honey brown rice milk tea ($4.00 plus $0.50 boba), 25% sugar levels for both. Perfect amount of sweetness, boba wasn't sickeningly sweet; I believe Yokee uses real fruit in their fresh juices, and the banana smoothie tasted like fresh banana rather than powder or syrup. I couldn't get enough. The honey brown rice had a great nutty flavor with just a touch of honey. Yokee is pricey, but the quality backs up the pricing, in my opinion. Fresh fruit, great flavors, and a lot of drink in the specialty cups. As mentioned above, this is a tiny spot with a couple tiny tables meant more for waiting than hanging out. This is my new go to boba spot in Oakland! I've tried the fresh milk volcano, but be forewarned that it's basically cold milk with warm boba (pass). Other than that, I've been satisfied with everything else I've ordered. Usually boba is included in the price of the drink. They have a punch card for frequent visitors (they will combine the stamps if you happen to forgot it!). I'm one of those weirdos that always modify my drinks to an extreme level. Whenever I order 3 different toppings at any boba place, they often send the manager to talk to me: 'Scuse me mam, we literally cannot put 3 toppings in your cup because there won't be enough space for the tea!!! I told them to reduce the amount of each (I paid full price). All I want is "topping diversity" (lol) in my drinks with less tea. They still got a problem with that and often gave me the look. But for Yokee, they never told me what I can or cannot order, always stayed professional and listed all the options and happy to make whatever drinks I want. I often order 3 or more drinks for my week with different requirements, not a problem to them. I tried most of the items on their menu and like most of them so far. For the tea, I love their Puff cream MT, creamy, good consistency and delicious. Fresh Milk Volcano has brown sugar taste with the regular boba, recommend 25% sweet. Coffee Volcano MT: this is one of my favorite milk teas but they don't let us choose sweetness (probably from the boba, understandable) or ice level, which is strange because I don't like to have ice in this drink. Ice makes the boba hardened like a piece of dried up chewing gum. Earl grey MT was wonderful, not too weak or too strong. Lemon Green tea is fresh and light. Honeydew is not as thick as a smoothie, just the right amount. Thai MT and Rose MT are good as well. For the toppings, I often order egg pudding, red bean, agar boba, lychee jelly. They all taste like high quality foods, not too much preservatives or artificial colors. Their service as I mentioned above is exceptional and fast. I placed many orders during the past year but they only mixed up one. When I called, they were super sweet and offered to fix it the next time. They always give me a free box to carry my drinks if I got 4 or more. I hope they'd add aiyu jelly on the menu soon. read more

First time trying Yokee and so glad I did! It's on a small street in Oakland and the shop is pretty small itself (no indoor seating, stand outside after ordering). There isn't much street parking so be prepared to walk approximately a block to Yokee. The drinks I got were the mango pomelo sago and the fresh passionfruit tea with lychee jelly. Mango pomelo sago: a bit pricey (around $6); the sago was yummy and mango was sweet and flavorful. would recommend if you're a mango lover!! Passionfruit tea with lychee jelly: 50% sweet was a little sweeter than expected, but nonetheless, lychee jelly was chewy and overall drink was one of the better fruit teas I've had. Customer service and getting the drinks were a bit slow, but I would say that they were worth the wait! I'll be sure to come back and try some of their signature drinks and fruit teas. read more

A pretty wide selection of fresh fruit teas, milk teas, slushes, and cheese mousses... I'm excited for the weather to get warmer so I can walk here for work breaks more often! The inside is very tiny but the smell of tea brewing is so inviting. You can even write/draw on the sticky notes inside. So far, I've only really tried their milk teas- taro milk tea, honeydew milk tea, and earl grey milk tea. The taro was fun because it's taro powder, along with real taro chunks, and the honeydew milk tea isn't too overly sweet. Earl grey milk tea wasn't super memorable for me, because of the subtle flavor but I guess I like my tea strong. The cups they serve the boba in are so sturdy, I'm wondering if I could bring one back in and get a discount for reusing it?? I can't say much for the fruit teas or cheese mousses yet, but will definitely update this review to mention those. Came while we were waiting for our hot boys order and ended up going again the following weekend! Their taro sago is soo good and fresh. Def not on the sweet side, it's a lot more savory. I also get the mango sago w palmetto. Super refreshing and nice on a hot day. The palmetto is subtle and doesn't really come into the flavor/drink til the end (it's at the top of the drink). Oh both drinks also come with agar boba! The shop is pretty small. Just 1-2 customers at a time and wait outside til your number is called. We usually just wait in our car since it's been a bit chilly out recently. The cashier is also super sweet and nice. She is informative on what drinks Yokee has to offer. At last, a decent bubble tea spot in Uptown Oakland! If there's one thing missing in Uptown, it's a good cup of bubble tea. A few places had popped up in the last few years, but none of them was able to stick around for long. After trying Yokee Milk Tea today, it looks like they may be around for a while. My friend David and I stumbled upon this tiny shop next to The Lunch Box on Franklin Street after having lunch nearby. It was quiet when we walked in at around noon. The owner, a nice young woman, greeted us and so did her mom. We checked out the menu on the counter and ordered a Thai Milk Tea with Pearls (25% ice and sweetness, $3.50 drink + $0.50 topping) and a Pearl Black Milk Tea ($4). As I mentioned before, this shop is tiny and has very limited seating. It is more of a grab-and-go place. The owner went right to work after receiving our order. I saw her pour the tea from a dispenser into the plastic tumbler cups. Since there's a partition blocking the view of the prep area, I wasn't able to see if powder or real dairy was used for the drinks. They were ready in about five minutes. I had the Thai milk tea and found it to be good size and well-shaken. The tea taste was strong but a bit on the sweet side, even at only 25% sweetness level. The pearls were cooked well and had a great chewiness in them. The only downside of my drink was the amount of pearls in it. It could have used a few more. David seemed to enjoy his drink as well. Overall, I thought Yokee Milk Tea was pretty good. The drinks we had were decent, the pricing was reasonable, and the service was quick and friendly. I hope they will thrive in this milk tea-starved neighborhood. I will stop by again next time I'm in Uptown.
