Very similar to wako in ktown so if you need a donkatsu fix and dont want to drive all the way to la, come here! Other than the donkatsu i would recommend the buena roll and noodles! Expect to pay around $10 per person minimum. If you want to order togo, they package their entrees very nicely in a box so it's convenient to take and eat. There's a cafe (cafe java bru) next to it so you can get your tea/coffee/shaved ice for dessert! Highly recommend! read more

My friend got the cheese filled donkatsu which was really good as well, except I thought the cheese:pork ratio was off with there being too much cheese. They have a variety of donkatsu (e.g., pizza). Let me preface this by saying the food is good. The donkatsu is on the thinner side and not super juicy. But it is crunchy and it comes out fast. Also, yes, I appreciate that they are trying to seat people quickly and in the order they arrived but ... The service I experienced yesterday was the worst. I got there at around 6:20 pm and put my name down for a party of five. At about 6:26 pm, one of three waiters asked me if my party had yet arrived. I told him not yet, but that they should arrive within 5 minutes since our meeting time was 6:30. So he seemed a little hesitant but seated me anyway. At this time, there was only a party of two left to be seated. Then, the fun started. All the servers kept giving me the side eye, like "when is your party coming?" After a friend arrived at about 6:29 pm a server asked me again when my party was to arrive. Then another server came to our table and told us that if the party didn't arrive soon that we would have to give up our table because there were people waiting. Then, one of the first servers came back and told us we needed to order if we wanted to keep the table. Omg! Who does that?! I don't understand how this place is a solid 4 To me this place is Wako for kids I got their Classic Donkatsu Combo with Crunch roll. Their Donkatsu was average at best. They serve up their sauce just like Wako does, with a bowl of sesame ready to be grinded. So I'm grinding away and i notice i can't really smell the sesame as they're being grinded, i couldn't really taste the level of savoriness they're supposed to add either. The sauce itself tasted too sweet like a generic brand donkatsu sauce available at your local korean market. So i had to ask for some mustard to kick it up a notch. I usually eat the salad to chase away the heaviness (and oversweetness in this case) i take a bite of the salad... and the salads too sweet. Not even a hint of acidity to cut through the heaviness. So i move on to the pickled jalapeno/onions hoping for a spicy kick to this heaviness....too sweet. Lastly i try it with the fermented radish HOPING the fermentiness will somehow cover up the sweetness and guess what... THEY were too sweet too. Maybe i'm being to picky, but when everything on the dish is sweet with nothing to complement it, it's just not good for me. So i'm done with my donkatsu i look over to my crunch roll and it crumbles pathetically as i try to pick it up. Turning into a mayo heavy bibimbap with too much fake crab meat(which is really sweet also). I did try my friends cheese katsu and i found it disgusting. read more

this is a GREAT place if you're craving some donkatsu. better than wako (buena park's location is no longer there). since i like variety... i ordered the pork katsu and spicy tuna roll combo. the donkatus was very crispy and light on the outside and moist in the inside... perfect. i also got to try the chicken and fish katsu... both really good also. surprisingly the spicy tuna roll was very good. you also get one piece of fried shrimp and a potato croquette (nice little touches). fyi... they don't give you a bowl of rice when you order a combo meal. the portions are very generous and left very satisfied. before the food comes out... you get to grind up some sesame seeds in a little bowl for the sauce. took me back when my mama used to make me do that. read more

Cheese katsu: about $10.95. You get a huge plate, half of it salad with spicy mayo and half cheese katsu, which is basically donkatsu except there's also CHEESE INSIDE. DELICIOUS MELTED CHEDDAR CHEESE. You also get a bowl of rice, spicy pickled radish, jalapeños, and miso soup. The cheese katsu is really good, especially when the cheese is nice and hot. When it starts cooling down and gets hard it's not as delicious, but still good. Did I use my chopstick to twist a fat chunk of hard cheese and eat it by itself? Perhaps. Did I do this multiple times? Perhaps. But that is not the important thing right now. I'm pretty picky about pickled radish, but I really liked this one. It complemented the katsu and the rice really well. The miso soup is delicious and washes down the meal perfectly between bites. My boyfriend got the donkatsu combo, which was $12.95. You get donkatsu, the same salad, a fried shrimp, a fried potato ball, and your choice of soba, udon, or a sushi roll. He got the soba, which was soo delicious and fresh! They give you a small plate of shredded radish and wasabi that you can use to customize your soba soup. I thought the fried shrimp and fried potato ball were overkill because the main course is already A BIG PIECE OF FRIED MEAT but it's nice of them to add, I guess. They also give you a bowl of sesame at the beginning of your meal so you can crush your own seeds for the donkatsu sauce, so that's fun (: The decor here was so nice! I think they have different themes, and the theme is currently Andy Warhol, so the posters were entertaining to look at while waiting for the meal. In conclusion: I agree the food is a little pricey, but it's delicious and worth trying. It's a very small place so there might be a wait, but you can always get it for take out! read more

Been here twice, first time was perfect (food and service both on point). However, the second time I went, service was terrible, and I'm only pointing out the young waitress with straight bangs. We walked in, she greeted us in Korean but after realizing we don't speak Korean, she switched on her bitch face. My friend and i sat down at the table, and she came by threw the menus and water on the table then left, uhhh like hello? Did your mom never teach you about manners? Then after we finished grinding the sesame, she came by again. I was still holding the wooden stick and grinding a small chunk at that time, but she just smacked it away forcefully without saying anything and poured our sauce. When she came by later to give us our food, she half threw the tray onto our table, you can hear the loud smacking sound, and half of the tray wasn't even on the table. Also, not to mention the entire time she sounded annoyed and wanted to get rid of us. I gave no tips, cuz if you can't learn how to treat other people right, you don't deserve anything. Food is definitely 10/10 and I'll come back over and over, but this service is just disgusting. Hope they do something about that girl who knows nothing about respect and manners. read more

Pretty much everyone got the chicken katsu and we usually would order from Katsuko but since this place had better ratings I wanted to try this place out today. I gotta say I was glad I made the choice to try out Yoko. I thought this place was alot better than Katsuko and I probably will only eat donkatsu ( I rarely eat donkatsu ) from this place from now on! My younger brother had been craving katsu, so I decided to go here with my family after reading all the positive reviews. We ordered the kimchi cheese katsu, donkatsu, and the udon. The portion for kimchi cheese katsu seemed a little less than expected for the extra price, but the taste made up for it. We all enjoyed what we ordered and were all full after clearing our plates. This review is purely for the experience and service and not for the food. Food as always been great and consistent. I gave it a a few days to think it over before writing this review so that its not done out of anger and frustration. Basically ordered 5 combos of donkatsu+udon & needed them by a certain time the next day. Called the afternoon before and placed order, called as soon as they opened (actually 10:55am) on the day of to confirm order, and actually arrived 20 minutes before pick up time to pay & wait .... after ALL that AND they still forgot my order. While I awaited and counted 5 customers come & go picking up their orders, I couldn't help feel frustrated. At this point my pick up time has passed. When I finally approached the young man working at the counter and said that I really didn't want to get angry but why isn't my order ready? (in a calm voice and no yelling) He just rolled his eyes, no apology, no words ... just turned around & faced the kitchen waiting for the food to come out. I guess at this point an apology wouldn't have really made any difference but is this now just the norm of a business etiquette when its their fault? The servings are large. They serve it to you with shredded cabbage and a dressing that is delicious. Once you are seated they serve you a little bowl to crush your own roasted sesame seeds.
