I praise the owner who gives the best sensible staff and food tasting service without hesitation. Had family picking up takeout for lunch as summer temperatures hit, and the best thing for cooling off is cold noodle soup! We all got the same thing mul naengmyun: chewy grey black buckwheat noodles, topped with julienned and sliced rounds of cucumber, half a nars boiled egg and one slice of tender boiled beef. Everything topped with sesame and red chili paste , just the right amount of to balance off the vinegary flavors of the icy broth. Food was prepared well for takeout : separate containers for broth and noodles, to keep the food still fresh when it got home. Panchan was also packed separately: kimchi, dandelion root gelatin and cubed radishes, also very good with the noodles and broth. The food here is really good, but the service is horrible. I've gone here several times with my husband before, who is Korean, and the service has been fine. However, yesterday, I went with some friends, and none of us are Korean, and the noticeable difference in service is mind blowing. First, there were 4 of us, and we politely asked the waitress for more banchan. She said no more banchan. I was astounded because I have been to this restaurant before, and they have never said this in the past. Fine, whatever. Second, we had some cold noodles that we didn't finish, so we asked for a takeout box. She had the audacity to say that she won't give us a box because there would be food poisoning if we took the cold noodles to go. Excuse me?! In what world, does this make any sense? If she doesn't want to give us a box because she's cheap, I'd rather her say that they charge for a box, which we would have gladly paid for. Lastly, we were finishing up our food, and she came over to us to ask us to leave, but she eventually knew better because she saw that 2 people in our party were still eating. Overall, the service was horrible and she was so unpleasant. Next time, turn on your AC in the restaurant. No one wants to eat in 80 + degree heat. read more

Ordered the naengmyeon and it was delicious and each bite is refreshing. it does come with spicy sauce in it already (it's VERY mild) cucumber and one piece of meat and half of a boiled egg. I was craving Soondae and I found this place on Yelp. we were exploring area and this is one of the closest one that serves Soondae. I got their soondae guk, I love it. The food came pretty fast, but their price is in a higher side than other Korean restaurants I've been to. The food came pretty fast and there is a lot of parking in the plaza. The plaza is pretty big too. They have a big tv that shows food show. They have a self serve tea and soup station, so you can get as much as you like. Prior to Irvine location, we would frequent for their naeng myun and tonkatsu. Quality has taken a severe turn for the worse. Naeng myun's broth was watery and noodles stale. Recent trip combined it with the jokbal, reminiscent of a rubber mat. Also, got a side of soondae that tasted like it was just thawed. Their Cold Noodle is on the best. You can tell from the customer who are mostly Koreans. Even the aunties talk mostly Korean with broken english. The good thing, their menu is Year round while others are seasonal. Cold Noodle usually for summer only. We always order the spicy one, as regular has less kick. The soup comes separately as chilled iced soup in a bowl. The noodle is long and chewy. Make sure it get scissor cut properly. Order the combo menu to save a little. We ordered the pancake combo. Kids love them. Other combos taste delicious too. This time we did not order the Donkatsu. The meat is usually crispy, crunchy and juicy. Also large portion. The Dolpan menu, hot stone plate, also delicious. We ordered the spicy pork. Ambiance is typical small restaurant. Service is quick. If there is a line. Write down your name outside at the whiteboard on the post across the door. Non regular customers usually missed it. Price wise is on the higher end as their portion is big enough to share or eat for yourself, like us. One side note, they started automatic tip at 18%. This is actually one of my favorite spots to come eat at for gondeurehbap which I discovered just last year. It comes in the hot stone pot which I love with lots of veggies, hence the name, wild mustard seed and sauce. That crisp is on point & they will also cook the rice in a hot stone pot for to go orders as well. Such a great Korean restaurant with traditional dishes, but made with really high quality ingredients. The flavors are not the typical restaurant style stuff where you can tell it's just high volume sauces and pastes for marinade and soup. Their dishes have a different taste that is hard to explain, and keeps you wanting more. The service is impeccable even when it's so busy! They're so attentive to what is happening with each table where they quickly come to your table if you just look like you need something. The food is also VERY kid friendly. went here for lunch on a warm day for some cool noodles. it was my first time trying korean style cold noodles with ice, they were really interesting and delectable. they're called chic mul naengmyeon, which literally means "water - cold - noodles". we received complementary banchan dishes. small little delights. there were various items but my favorite was the pumpkin with the garlic-ish white sauce. the cold noodles were served with ribbon thin sliced radish, thin sliced cucumber, an egg, and hot sauce atop the black noodles and ice broth. the noodles are most buckwheat, but can contain the flour and starch of various ingredients, including potatoes, sweet potatoes, arrowroot starch, and kudzu. i have no idea lol. anyway, it was so interesting to taste the spicy flavor of the hot sauce against the cold ice broth that eventually melts down as the ingredients meld together. i would totally order this again and take friends here. it's a whole experience. it was a filling dish on it's own, but the people i was with accidentally misheard me and ordered me yukgaejang, which is like a hot beef noodle/tofu/green onion soup. it was absolutely amazing. i couldn't finish so i took it home for later and it still was incredibly delish. this could def be shared, huge portion! all in all, great service here. a legit korean spot in buena park. love it! read more

Just in case she denies this interaction and claims that this " Never happened ", I am attaching my receipt as proof that she was the one serving us that day. As we finished our mediocre meal (Do not be deceived by the ratings), she came to our table and physically THREW the check on the table with an attitude. I couldn't believe this behaviour coming from a restaurant owner. This to me is unacceptable. HONESTLY, the biggest concern I have is how she treats her clients/customers. Yes , the food was " mid " but this level of toxic energy behaviour should never be acceptable at any restaurant. I could tell that from the very beginning Abigail did not like how I asked if we could sit at a different table than she wanted us to initially sit at and this was the root of the problem DESPITE the restaurant being COMPLETELY empty. Usually, I still tip minimum 20% everywhere I go even if the service is not the best, but this type of behaviour was unacceptable and I decided not to tip. Shortly after, Abigail literally CHASED US DOWN in the parking lot yelling why I did not leave a tip in front of my family. I have been to the Yoo's place in Irvine and I would say that I enjoyed my experience here a little better because the parking was less crazy (it's located in a small plaza with a decent amount of parking) and some of the food items (galbi) tasted better here. I appreciated how quickly the staff were able to get all of our orders out at the same time (just because sometimes it is hard to time it so that everyone's food comes out at the same time). The cold noodles were delicious and perfectly refreshing for a warm day. The mushroom bibimbap was so good, the mushrooms were very flavorful and the meat wasn't super fatty or choppy (the pieces were a good size). The galbi was delicious, very flavorful and it wasn't hard to chew through the meat like some other galbi that I've had. The black bean noodles were good but nothing too special. Best cold noodle restaurant in OC. Dont visit on Sunday lunch though as many seats are reserved for Korean church customers and the store won't accept you to seat. Because of it, your wait time can be more than 45 minutes for a party of 2. It's insane to wait 45 minutes, watching the empty seats in front of you. So I intended to find something else and Yoo's Place surfaced to the top of the search. The chic mul narngmyeon (cold noodle) was on point. I love the vinegary flavor and I had to stop myself from drinking the entire bowl of soup. I got it as a combo with mandu and that was really good too. My wife ordered the melchi kalguksu (anchovy noodle soup) and enjoyed it as well. The parking lot is plentiful but it did get kind of packed around lunch time. And the restaurant does fill up so come early. There were plenty of take outs and people waiting for a seat. This small, family-owned restaurant has always seemed pretty busy the few times I've been. I take that as a good sign to start. Second, the fact that they recently opened a new location in Irvine is another feather in their cap. I've tried several dishes and they've all been very good. I'm surprised they don't have higher reviews, they deserve it! This is one of the best Korean restaurants I have tried in a long time! I LOVED the hamburger steak with cabbage salad, grilled onions & rice (thr hamburger steak was so soft, yummy, not too sweet like other versions I've tried elsewhere), dolsot bibimbap, & mul nengmyun (cold noodles) combo with galbi (bbq short ribs). I also appreciated the kabocha squash & other banchan. Everything was so flavorful & satisfying, without being overly salty or sweet, & I didn't feel sleepy afterwards, like I often do after eating out (since a lot of restaurants use a lot of MSG/etc.). I wish they had a version without mandu tho bc I just wanted the plain noodles. It was $17 but the serving is massive. My friend got the donkatsu for $18 and the serving was also massive. It was really good too! My other friend got jjajangmyeon black bean noodles and it was a reasonable portion size for $15 and it was pretty good too Not sure how but the filtered ice cold water was SO crisp and so good LOL. One of the worst experience eating here. Went with my sister and mom, they ordered the cold noodle and I ordered the tonkatsu(I knew it won't be the best since it's a noodle place) but it smelled like fish sticks as soon as they set it on the table and so greasy and disgusting I could not eat it at all. The cold noodle broth was too sweet and they try to cover that up by adding a lot of sesame oil. And the worst was leaving and someone blocked us in, the driver was sitting right in front of the restaurant and she was on her phone not looking up to move her car. Never coming back here again. EDIT: reading through all the other 1 star review and I see the owner or whoever responses to few reviews are just so disrespectful and rude, taking all the negative reviews so personally...girl you need to calm down and realize other people see your responses I understand getting negative review at a public website is not pleasant but the way you come off in the responses are just not the way.
