3/5/25 This old man came rolling home. Well, not really. I did see; however, this place did add a few new goodies. The subjuct I am talking about is this...gambling. A number of gas stations and grocery stores have added this concept to their repertoire...and from what I have seen, it is very addicting for many people. The slot machines are new to these areas, but they are putting a lot of culos en asientos (Asses in seats). The value of spending a little do here is great if you like candy and gambling. Especially if you are getting your car serviced here too. Aside from this new addition in this gas station some new snacks have been added; as well, as a lot of product as been removed. This is to make room for the slots machines...or whatever the appropriate it is given. The service, atmosphere vibe wasn't so good when I need to get a receipt from a station attendant. The people in the work shop saw me, but we're busy with fixing cars. I understand that. One guy who might have been the manager paid me no mind. He was lost in thought...or so it seems. Finally a female associate showed up. Ms. Chavez (I don't know her name. No name badge worn) greeted me and was able to reprint the receipt I need for my records. I understand the area, but the prices for gasoline are ridiculous here. There will not be endorsements of the Mobil or Sunoco on the same road, but you'll pay less there. Plus you could find it easier to get in and out of here. This location is dreadful with countless intersections and high traffic density. Having this one entrance from the shopping center and Gatehouse Road, along with being near 50 and 495 best of luck. This dilapidated station looks and feels old. The convenience store is underwhelming and overpriced. It's dirty and needs to be cleaned up. I only go here on an emergency basis. Otherwise you have far better options. Yes this wealthy area is expensive, but go to another station. read more

I stop here for gas when I am in route and realize I should put gas in the car, this happens when I am heading to Vienna or Tyson's and sometimes when I am about to get on the beltway and I just don't feel like risking it. Anyway, perfectly acceptable place to get gas just know it is higher priced than spots further away from a beltway entry / exit. It is relatively easy to get in and out of (although the light for the exit left can get backed up). The pumps are covered, the machines take my cards with no problem (although there is a Bank of America with an outside ATM close by which is nice to know). As a bonus, there is also a Starbucks in the strip mall and I will admit I sometimes reward myself. While I prefer getting gas from one of the less pricey locations when I have forgotten to fill up and am on my why to work or someplace else this is my backup gas location of preference. read more

Kevin is hands down one of the best mechanics in Northern VA. He is honest about what repairs are actually needed and his prices are more than fair. I was recommended to Yorktown shell to see Kevin the mechanic at the shop on Friday past July 22,22 I called and spoke with him about what was needed,which was an an ac recharge he gave me a price and I arrived there 30 minutes after our conversation.He and I had previously spoke a week before and he suggested I bring the car in bc as he mentioned "probably need ac refrigerant recharge" Upon pulling up in front of the shops bay I stood outside of my car where I was visible and seen by Kevin and the other onlooking mechanics.In as much I described my make of car but understand that most shops policy states to not enter through the bay area.So finally after being totally ignored for 30 minutes I asked 1 of the observant mechanics if Kevin was there (since I wasn't asked if I could be helped) when he made himself available he confirmed the price $120 for the recharge and says"if ac air not kool after recharge it would be $60.00 per hour to make kool air" I agreed and left to have lunch.He then texted me back an hour later with a picture of 1 of my front headlights out and asked on the text "y headlight out and ur car is ready."When I came to pick up the car he said "the ac is fine and running normal kool air so no charge"Well this was strange bc it was confirmed by 2 other shops that I needed a recharge but their prices were too high.I thanked Kevin but did not see my car near the shop or bay.He had parked my car 7 minutes of a walk away in the public parking area away from his shop nearly behind the Aldi food store.WT Hell!!! who does that! and why ? there was space for customers cars at his shop I asked if he could return my car he said "short walk we no have time," Good thing I don't have problems walking eh !!! I would not recommend any black people to patronize this shop bc my treatment was extremely racist ,nasty, disrespectful and rude.He and his non ethical and non professional practices would have not been done to any white person or Asian customers I'm sure Bc my car ac is still blowing out warm air I have continued searching for a reasonable price shop to do the recharge In closing black people recognize racism on most levels in this society and it's people like Kevin the mehanic that keeps racism afloat!!! I intend to take this unfair and discriminatory incident to a higher legislation within the city of Merrifield and state of VA. I have worked with Yorktown shell on several different occasions as I too have a business close by. More recently they worked on my car because I had an issue with an axel boot. It made some strange noises and no other station could figure out the issue. They were prompt. Reasonable with their pricing and kind. I will go nowhere else. read more

I drove over some debris on 495 on my way to work this morning. I had a flat and was hoping for a plug. However, upon further inspection, the tire was unable to be fixed. I needed a new one. I could've moved on, purchased a cheap tire to use as a spare, and saved money, but out of convenience (and my tire was dangerously low) I proceeded with their services. Of course they tried to sell me 2 tires (for almost $400!). I know that is an appropriate recommendation, but I made it clear that I just ordered 4 new tires with service scheduled for Friday and I'm only interested in 1 tire to solve my very temporary issue. I requested the cheapest possible tire. They completed the service within 30 to 45 min and the bill was $180. This is incredibly overpriced. Lastly, customer service was pretty dry. read more

Do not ever, ever, EVER come here. The mechanics are rude, and will try to sneak anything past you that they think they can. They will tell you you need X,Y and Z done and get an attitude with you when you say no thank you. I have never been so rudely spoken to, and I do not appreciate mechanics trying to 'little lady' me because they think they can get away with it. These mechanics are swindlers and crooks. Try to avoid this place like cancer. I went in for an oil change, transmission flush, rear turn signal light replacement (which I supplied the light for), and inspection. I went in with my white collar work clothes which was a mistake, because they automatically think that I'm not knowledgeable with cars and can up-charge. The guy called me back and said that the transmission flush was going to cost $275. I said thanks but no thanks, (I'll go to Jiffy lube where it costs no more than $70) and to continue with the inspection and oil change. I come back and the bill was $150 dollars with no manager in sight. The inspection and oil change was something that was supposed to cost no more than $50-$60 dollars. Apparently, they charged me $80.00 to replace a turn signal light. They said it was more because they had to replace other rear lights (which was total BS). I reluctantly paid the bill because I needed my car. If I wasn't in such a rush I probably would have called the police for fraudulent charging. Anyhow, I will try elsewhere in the future. The only reason why I tried this place to begin with was the convenience of it being nearby my workplace. read more

I will never return to this service center and urge you to stay away. They are not trust worthy. I went for a safety inspection and got rejected. OK, it happens. Well first they try to sell me the install of my rear light for $250. Then they tell me if I come back to them I will pay only a dollar for the re-inspection. So I fixed it myself and returned to them. It was after the period but was told nothing about it having to be within the two week period. They also told me nothing until services were rendered and they sprung it on me. That I would in fact be paying full price even though it was clearly a reinspect. I read the law and yes they can charge UP TO $16 but they were insinuating that that was the law that they had to pay another $16 to the government for the inspection which is completely untrue. At one point during the conversation I was telling them how they tried to sell me the light, he seemed surprised oh did you get the light through us? Because clearly I would not have been double charged if I had allowed them to over charge me in the first place. read more

Great experience. The prices were excellent for tune up and 4 new tires, compared to other tire shops/mechanics on the same street. They were friendly and it was clear by their customer service that they wanted to keep my business. As far as I am concerned they did the right thing throughout the process. read more

Don't get a safety inspection here. We failed a safety inspection for a minor issue and took the car to our dealership for the repair. We took the car back to the Shell for the re-inspection and they found a second issue that mysteriously appeared despite not being there a few days ago. Either they didn't do a thorough inspection the first time, or they were really hoping to collect more money for that repair job. Either way-sketchy. This incident, combined with the dramatically high (10-15% higher) price quotes for the required repairs (because I always get at least three quotes from different mechanics) made me feel like I was being taken advantage of. Best place for VA state inspection! I have taken all of my cars here for the required state safety inspection and found the owner and mechanics very honest and competent. They are also very fast and efficient, even at the beginning of the month when most other inspection locations have long lines. In the time it took me to walk to a coffee store in the same shopping center and buy a coffee, the inspection was done. I highly recommend this shop and will continue to do business with them. When I failed for a worn wiper blade, their price was replacement was the same as buying the part myself from a car parts store, so they saved me time to get a fast fix. I will use them exclusively for VA state safety inspections. read more

At first I was very reluctant to go there as the recent reviews were not favorable. I remember going to this place earlier and never had a bad experience. I thought it must be the new management, but to my surprize it was the same people working there. I asked the manager if they were aware of the online reviews and he mentioned that he has been absent from the shop for the past 6 months or so. I figured it must have been someone else managing the place. As always the manager was very polite and helpful. He even gave me a free estimate to compare against another workshop near by. I could tell he was genuinely trying to improve the customer service and even offered me discounted price. I would highly recommend this place to everyone and would insist on giving them another chance. And don't forget to ask for Mr. Singh! read more

The team at Yorktowne Shell Service is great. This is the only place I take my car for repairs and service. I've lived in the Northern Virginia area for the past 11 years and this is the first station I have found that I trust completely. The mechanics do a great job and the staff always provide me with a list of recommended maintenance and a timeline of when it should be done/how long I can go safely before I need to make the repairs. The day that made my decision to always use Yorktowne was when my husband took his BMW in for a second opinion after the dealership told him he needed some incredibly expensive repairs done. The Yorktowne Shell team told him that it was not necessary and that he just needed an inexpensive solution. read more

I recently had a slow but steady loss of pressure in my right rear tire, 2-3 pounds a week. I looked at the tire thoroughly and couldn't locate a nail or reason for the leak. I stopped by a service station on RT29 to see if the cause for the pressure leak could be determined. I was told that the tire had a small nail and was explained that I would need to replace the tire because of the type of tire and not patchable even though it was in the tread. This sounded suspicious, and I choose to leave. After work I stopped by the Shell close to my house and spoke with them about the slow leak, and being in the tread they stated there would would be no problem patching the tire. Being next door to Five Guy's, one of my favorite burger places, I was able to grab dinner while the tire was patched. Slow leak is gone, saved me hundreds of dollars on a new tire. Guys, I have taken my car to other service stations, by far this has been the best. I drive a 2012 c300 and have always been very satisfied with the service they provide. I get an honest opinion and the price compared to other service centers is very reasonable. I google the cost of the parts and read the Mercedez benz blogs before I go to them and to my surprise these guys always beat it. The service is absolutely great and they deliver it prompt on time. Despite of their busy schedule, they fixed my brake light when I showed up last week as I told them I am driving out of town that same evening. I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to get a quality service for a reasonable price. read more

After having used this station for service several times & bought gas here many times (as it is near my job) I will NEVER go here for ANYTHING ever again. Everyone I know who goes here for emissions inspection, they say the car has to be driven around a few days as their computer can't read it. The owner, Mr. Sing. Was INCREDIBLY rude to me on the phone when I asked a simple question. When I said I was a regular customer & may not want to come if that's how he treats people, he said that they "are in a strip mall with plenty of business and can go wherever I want." Interestingly, they've never treated my boyfriend so rudely with an inquiry, so I suspect misogyny. I will never go here for anything, not even has (though I have a Shell card and work nearby) ever, again, after over 10 years of being a regular. Terrible station. I stopped buying gas there years ago, but I have occasionally had my car inspected there because of its walking distance proximity to other stores (CVS, Starbucks, Deli, etc.). 1) the pumps have low-test gas in the center so that if you aren't paying attention and use the pump on the far left you end up filling your car with the more expensive gas. 2) have had my car in there 3 times over 2 weeks for an inspection. Each time I waited over an hour, even though there were no cars in front of me. Each time they told me a different light was not working and that they need to order parts from the dealer ($50-$350 fix). Each time I declined the work, took it home, and got the lights working within a few minutes (cost =$0 for me to fix). Odd that every time I bring it there a different light stops working, replacing the bulb doesn't fix the lights so they insist it's a more expensive problem that I am able to fix on my own at no cost. The service is terrible! The service crew was very indifferent to customer questions. They are very unprofessional in handling the car I left there for service. When I got my car back I noticed the ac is on for a while and the car window rolled down. The service quality is very poor too as they try to persuade me of additional fixes and cost. My 1996 Toyota Tercel wouldn't start, so I had the car towed to Yorktowne Shell on the recommendation of the tow truck driver. They told me a needed a new alternator and battery, and quoted my a price of $640. I thought this was much too high, but the manager Preet stressed they only used new parts with long warranties. Since I'd already had the car towed, I decided I had no choice but to approve the work. The total bill for a 7 Year Interstate battery, new alternator and new battery terminals was $690.08 after tax and disposal fees. When I got the car home I looked under the hood, and saw that they had installed a 75 month MT-24 interstate battery with a suggested retail price of $99.95 (they charged me $154.99 for the part) and a remanufactured Remy alternator (part # 13383) that can be bought for $131.89 (they charged me $241.99 for the part). Needless to say I was very angry. They wound up giving me a refund of $250 after I threatened to dispute the charge. I'll never visit this mechanic again, and would recommend others avoid them as well. The work at least appears to have been performed competently, and was ready when they said it would be. read more

Terrible service. They have coupons and it says "we accept competitors coupons" but they don't because they enter the amount in the system before they hand you the vehicle back. The coupon does not say it is not valid for motorcycles or for $15 minimum is needed but when time comes, they say it is not valid. I'm going to report this service to BBB for bad practices. No wonder the auto service is always empty and the mechanics including the inspector Qaraman Timari are watching YouTube videos or playing games. read more

I took my three-year old Toyota in for an emissions test. They told me that their equipment couldn't read my car's data. They said they changed a fuse which fixed the problem and they charged me $120. For a fuse? A complete rip-off. Stay away. read more

FOLKS - do not even read the reviews that are 2+ years old...this garage is under new management and they are great. And as for anyone claiming MIDAS does it better or cheaper...the guys that work at MIDAS write these bad reviews. It's pretty ridiculous, but the "MIDAS is better" reviews all read like a MIDAS advert...think about it. Go to Yorktowne, great prices and they will explain everything to you before you get any work done. Great garage. read more

I have been going to this Gas Station for Years. I don't think their mechanic have any idea what they are doing. I had changed the brake pads 2 months ago and one of the mechanic insisted me to change the brake pads- I was given a fat bill at the end and the owner/manager Preet went to the back and never came out. None of the mechanics spoke English very well. I agree, Yorktowne Shell made some money from me but what they lost was $100 worth of Gas every week ( Me and my girl). Also, I will be telling this story to all my friends. Do Not Go There. Even for OIL CHANGE. There are plenty of places where at least they don't lie. read more

The best thing I like about this place is that these people DO NOT try to make money of you like others. I used to go to my dealer then Jiffy lube for a regular oil change they always point out some problem. break fluid or tires or some fluid which a normal person like me wouldnt have a clue about and give a huge bill. These guys tell you exactly how long will these things last and as it is these guys are far more cheaper than others. I have a honda accord 2008 which I bought it brand new but after a 2 years the car needed a jump start, i went to 2 different honda dealers, they said you should change to a new battery. I was wondered " does a battery life last only 2 years". I went to this guy who straight away told me that they placed a smaller battery instead of the regular one. how could a dealer do this. Then i read on internet I was not the only person with this experience. The first two years I spent around 800 dollars for my car taking various places despite of the car being bought brand new. My last years expense with these guys is 120 which was for oil changes. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY SERVICE. I took my car in for a slow leak in my tire. When I came back, they had REMOVED MY INSPECTION STICKER FROM MY WINDSHIELD!!! Is that even legal?? They tried to charge me $1,400 to repair what they said was a bad undercarriage. I took my car and left. THESE PEOPLE REMOVED MY INSPECTION STICKER FROM MY WINDSHIELD WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME!!! Emissions and safety inspector qaraman a timari told me I needed 4 Mazda 6 head and parking lights replaced, that one of two tag lights needed replacement, that my 2 front tires had 'cut' and 'bump' respectively so he failed my car . And that I needed more mileage for emissions test to be done. I had no problem with the emissions , I just drove around for 30 miles. At another station (sunoco)my car was passed coz it turns out one of the lights qaraman failed me on turns out to be optional fog lights, the other one was just the signal and it was working , and my tires turned out ok. My advice, take your money elsewhere! read more
