We enjoyed our recent stay at YOTEL and would not hesitate to stay again. We were not surprised by the small room size as we had looked online before booking. The rooms are about half the size of many hotel rooms and also much less expensive than other hotels in the area. Very clean, very comfortable bed, very fresh and new, very compact, great location. Plenty of restaurants and bars in the area, half a mile walk to the large South Station on the T, walking distance to Boston Tea Party Museum and the hop on hop off bus. Bathroom is funky in that there is no actual door to the overall bathroom space: there is a floor to ceiling drape that can be drawn across the overall bathroom space for privacy. Both the toilet and the shower are enclosed in individual glass booths with closing glass doors. That took a day to get used to, but it was fine. The only chair in the room is one folding chair, so not a place to hang out but a great place to sleep. The only thing that would make this room better would be a comfy chair. For the price and the location this is just right for us. If you want to pay double and have a larger room plenty of those hotels exist. read more

Rooms are tiny and the beds are so small that I could not sleep. Our room was 2 floors above the street and it was noisy all night with loud cars revving their engines until 2 Am in the morning. This was the cheapest hotel in the area, but it is still expensive. I ate in their main floor restaurant and paid over $70 for 2 breakfasts. Each had 2 eggs, a couple pieces of bacon, and a small triangle shaped fried hashbrowns. Oh, it did come with toast too. You cannot access the elevator unless you use the security key card reader every time. That was so annoying. I had problems getting my key card to work, and had to complain about it twice. There is some complimentary coffee, but that is only available a couple of hours in the morning, if you get up late, you lose out. If you are looking for coffee, go to the bagel shop down the street. Best bagel sandwich I ever had, and reasonable prices. There is a coffee shop next door as well, not a bad price for Boston. Do not by any means order pizza to be delivered to the hotel, big mistake. read more

Great location in the Seaport area. The rooms are small, but adequate. The tempurpedic bed is very comfortable. My third night there the bed was stuck, and would not lay flat. I had to move rooms at midnight, but the staff was helpful and tried to solve the problem. There are great restaurants and shopping nearby. read more

Convenient location really easy to get to from the airport with train station right next door. Easy kiosk check in for folks prefer no human interactions. Room is very small, but it is well designed to maximize the usable space, and good thing that the bathroom area is roomy enough, although with only curtain separating the space it does not offer the usual privacy. Shower is nice and big, the bed is motorized to go up and down, putting it up provides more room when it's not used for sleeping. Space under the bed is talk enough to fit luggage for easy storage. Color changing LED lighting surrounds the TV. Sound of the heater is however super loud and annoying! And I got credit card hold with much higher amount at check in, but this was quickly fixed after a quick chat with front desk. I did appreciate that there was a gym, although small. There is also Trader Joe's next door make it easy to pick up snacks and whatnot, an unexpected plus. read more

I also didn't realize it was there in the ceiling, so it got me wet when I just wanted to wash my feet off after a long day of walking around Boston. I left a bag of clothes there not even 24 hours ago. I tried calling the front desk, and no one picked up. Through the automated system I was instructed to email boston.contact@yotel.com. I mentioned that the bag looked like a pillowcase. Less than an hour later I had a response from Aziza that they could not find it and I was supposed to put my info on an external site ileftmystuff.com. I could understand this if I had emailed a week later, but 24 hours? It seems like no one has any initiative to check the laundry, which is where I suspect it will be. The price was cheapest in the area. They have a gym and a roof top restaurant and bar. Also a bar in the entrance. 15 minutes from the airport. Fun area with lots of bars and restaurants and right next to Trader Joe's and near CVS. Rooms are clean and the bed is comfy and adjusts back (then you can't walk around it though). It's super small and like a pod. It does the job. Soundproof windows but you can hear hallway noise. The shower and toilet have clear glass so you can see in. The shower needs a shelf and the shower head doesn't let you aim it properly. Huge Apple TV. Cool lighting. Cute chair that folds and a food trey. Iron and ironing board. Cool hand soap, cream, shampoo and conditioner. I asked for a refrigerator and they brought me a mini one. Lots of shelf's and hangers. Towels are ok. View of the roof top bar next door. Easy check in-they send you a text confirmation. Check out is 11 am which is early. Nothing to write home about for the price but it will do for a few nights. read more

If you are a minimalist, this hotel is definitely for you! Me and my friend wanted to try it out (mostly because I saw a robot that visits you). Unfortunately, I don't think it's in operation. The room is very small and the only thing separating your bros in the bedroom and bathroom is a curtain. Pending on the angle, there's a mirror at the end of the curtain and well...angles. Also, the bed takes up the entire half of the room, so please take this into consideration when booking. They do have the usual, gym, no pool, and dining area. read more

Overall a good experience - but I will put upfront, there is a $23 per day "resort fee" that I totally missed when booking the hotel. So the surprise of an extra $50 happened to me upon checkout. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room itself was clean, although the other reviews are accurate: rooms are small and there are no frills. It was comfy for me - the room feels bigger when the bed is in the upright position, but the walkway is small if you want to leave the bed in the fully flat position. It would have felt tight with more than one person, in my opinion. I only tried to use the TV once and it felt confusing or not working - so I didn't even attempt to mess with what looked like the gadgets of connecting to it. read more

I saw a similar review below but I had to come here for a work trip and after coming back from the office, I was on my phone in bed when two men knocked on my door. I opened the doors and they told me that some kind of sensor that catches marijuana went off but I was so confused because I've never smoked anything in my life and I can see the visible confusion on their faces as well. I did use the bathroom for diahhrea and maybe the smell could have triggers something? I saw something similar in another review. Anyways, I invited them to come see what it could be coming from but they refused and told me it was just their job to give me the notice. It was a whopping $500 for an incident I didn't do. I asked how I can refute this and they told me I had to wait til the morning for the manager Brandon. I woke up the next morning and went down to talk to him but he said there was nothing he can do because check for calibration on the device because they trust the device and I had to dispute it with my credit card company. I looked into the sensor company as well and one of the first things on their website is "a new stream of revenue" or something along those lines. Anyway, my credit card company said they couldn't find anything to dispute obviously because all they have is what the machine reported and no other check was done. Yotel Boston, get ready for the $25 resort fee they don't tell you about. Resort?? Wifi and gym is what they said is the resort, did not use either. How about the coffin-sized room? No, we will never be back at any of them. This is not Japan, we have room in america. The heating system sounds like a jet taking off, extremely low rumble, very loud and disruptive, kept me awake the entire night. I've stayed at Yotel Boston several times and have overall enjoyed my experiences. The hotel feels new and is usually pretty affordable. There's also a rooftop bar (when it's nice enough to be outside!) It is a bit of a no frills hotel; rooms are small (for US standards) and don't have much in the way of amenities. If you're someone who spends little time at your hotel when traveling this shouldn't be a problem. Also, what can be a plus or minus depending on your situation is its location in Seaport. If you're in Boston for tourism, there will be a lot of attractions within reasonable walking distance (ICA, childrens museum, tea party museum, and some more a bit further off.) Also, if you're here for work and your office is in Seaport you'll also be well situated (this is usually my arrangement.) However, even with relatively good public transit options nearby (silver line and south station), Seaport wouldn't be on the top of my list of recommendations for a stay in a Boston. This means there are probably hotels better located for more general visiting needs. But again, all that being said, Yotel is a good option if you don't mind staying in Seaport. read more

I booked a stay at Yotel Boston via super.com and needed to modify or cancel my reservation a week before check-in due to a change in plans. The hotel offered no meaningful assistance. Despite multiple calls, the Yotel staff I spoke to over the phone were courteous but completely unhelpful, refusing to approve any changes and insisting super.com had to initiate the process with an email, which super.com refused to send. I was caught in a frustrating back-and-forth for an entire week, with no resolution despite my proactive efforts. The lack of flexibility and ineffective customer service made this an incredibly disappointing experience. read more

Upon check out they informed me that they were imposing a $500 penalty because their hi tech automated smoke detector told them I had smoked in the room at 5:30 am. This is patently false, as I am a lifelong non smoker (provable by medical records or anyone I know). they do not have any formal procedure available to contest this false accusation and charge; when I finally spoke to the manager she told me she had personally verified the room and confirmed that "it smelled like someone had covered up smoking and left the window open" which is literally a lie and insane (I am someone who would complain if my room smelled of smoke!). They get a + in my book since everything was purple The only thing that I didn't really like was that when the internet went out several amenities became unavailable. The hotel was setup as a smart hotel which is great but it lacked the personal touch of human communication. There was staff at the front desk but everything was self service. The hotel is located directly across the street from 2 clubs and if that is something you are into great location . Altogether great stay for my bday weekend. If I could give zero stars, I would. Under normal circumstances, the cleanliness of the room was simply unacceptable- but during a nationwide pandemic?! I'm appalled. Upon check in to our room, I noticed clumps of hair in the drain of the shower and (how do I put this appropriately?) genital FLUIDS on the bedsheets/bed frames/walls/ EVERWHERE!!! along with blood. When I asked for a new room, they didn't seem to care that there was a problem, and was given a new room in the EXACT same state. The room itself was only $80 something dollars, and they required a $75 hold in your card for incidentals. There's so much more I could say, but I don't want to ramble so people will actually see this and know not to waste their money or time on this place. 0/10. Would NOT recommend. read more

Cute hotel, very small rooms, but efficient - clean and seems recently redone. Staff is nice, but you can also check in and out on kiosks. No coffee maker or fridge, but yes for hair dryer and shampoos, body wash and lotion Location is awesome with Trader Joe's next door and lots of restaurants, bars, and clubs nearby. The harbor walk was lovely too. Booked on their website and was surprised at all the extra fees. My $353 rate has about $70 extra dollars of taxes and assessments added. I paid $55 for daily valet because I couldn't see any other options. read more

This review is for the restaurant in YOTEL - "Deck12". What can I say?! The views here are amazing. If you're lucky enough to get a spot on the rooftop on a beautiful day- you're in for a treat. When you visit, you truly are paying for the view and are paying to watch millennials take "IG- worthy" pictures. Always entertaining! As we were seated, we were provided with bottled water (complimentary). We didn't try any of the cocktails, stuck with beer and ordered an appetizer (per current COVID regulations). We ordered the flautas which were good - came with 4 in an order. Liked that they used paper menus and had hand sanitizer visibility available. Service was good and quick. There's an automatic 18% service charge added to the bill. This is a must if you're in seaport and wanting a view! read more

I had never stayed at a Yotel before, but was recommended to do so by colleagues of mine that were planning an in-person work event I had to travel to Boston to attend. I looked at Yotel's website, and it looked like a nice trendy place to stay. Trendy really does not matter to me, I am very much a "meat and potatoes" kind of guy, a comfortable bed with a spacious room is all I need. Well, when I got to the Yotel, that's not exactly what I got. Upon entering, the lobby was clean, and there were self check-in stations to check yourself in. I have no problem with that, so I went through the self check-in process. It then instructed me to create my room keys, but failed to tell me what room I was in. I then had to go to the front desk staffed by two very friendly ladies - the woman who helped me created new keys for me and handed me a key with a handwritten number of my room. Later I saw in my email that I was emailed with my room number, but the automatic check-in did not tell me to check my email for the room number, so that was a bit odd. I had no idea what I was in for, at this point... I went upstairs to my room, expecting to walk into a normal sized hotel room, and that is not at all what I walked into. As soon as I opened the door and stepped in to the room, I immediately smacked my shin on the edge of the bed, which was INCHES from the door. The room was lit with the Yotel brand's signature "purple" lighting, on one of the most dim settings, so I could barely see anything in front of me. Once the door closed behind me, I realized that I was in what I describe as, essentially, a large walk-in closet with a bed. NOT my idea of an ideal hotel room. The website did not indicate any kind of smaller size, or "micro room concept" or anything like that. According to the website, Yotel is just like any other hotel... trust me, it's not. With my back against the door to my room, I took 12 steps, and on my 12th step my face was flat against the window in the bathroom. If one of my steps was 1 foot (we're just assuming here) - the room is 12 feet long. Width-wise, it was 4 steps. So 12 feet by 4 feet. I didn't think I was claustrophobic, but the panic attack I had proved otherwise. I honestly felt extremely uncomfortable in this room, and honestly did not think I was going to be able to stay there. I took some deep breaths, and went down to the hotel bar/restaurant for a salad. After I ate and hung out with some work friends, I went back up to my room with a newfound attitude... "how bad can it be?" Fast forward a few days, and honestly at the end of the day, it really wasn't that bad. Would I stay there again? Absolutely positively NO. When I book a hotel room I need space. I don't want to feel like I'm in a tiny room. I did not appreciate the panic attack I had, and I think Yotel needs to do a much better job on their website indicating that, while they are a "new" hotel concept, they need to indicate that their rooms are SMALL. This is definitely NOT a hotel for everyone. The staff that I did interact with were very nice, so I give them good marks for that, but as far as the room I was in and the overall experience, it really made me wish I had booked elsewhere. If the size of the room does not matter to you, maybe you'd love this experience - but for me this was a one and done. I will never stay at a Yotel again. I prefer to be able to have enough room to relax, spread out, etc... If I want to stay in tight quarters I'd rather sleep in a car. read more

The Pros: -Great location. Parking is expensive but near the T and lots of space for lyft/uber drop offs. Not to far from the airport or downtown. -The bed is super cozy and comfortable -The price is great for the area -Carmen at the Front desk, she need a raise and maybe to be the CEO Con (Yikes ) -Making the reservation. This is a UK company and to cut cost, they cut people. Which makes for lousy service. I spent over two weeks trying to book for a few week day nights -Customer service, other than Carmen, the customer service was awful. Most of the staff we not educated about the services offered. So when asked, they had no idea. I prepared for a meal and miss it due to staff tell me the wrong time. The automatic operated had no idea how to help and lied about things that this hotel did not have. Also it took forever to reach the front desk from the room phone due to the automatic operationer. -Billing, I was charged for so many things that I did not use or buy and it took forever to correct. -The app/website. I was told to use the website to check on amenities and my bill. I could not do that. And the automatic phone was not useful. Overall I would not recommend staying here. The stress of getting a reservation and the billing was too much. It took away from the experience and it is not worth it, if you are trying to relax. read more

However upon check in I was given a room that was not yet cleaned -- the bed was not made and sheets and towels from the last guest were balled up on the floor. I was quickly given a new room by the friendly front desk staff, which was ready for a new guest. First time I've experienced that, but I get it, things happen. The room was a bit noisy from the air conditioner and TVs in neighboring rooms, but the next morning was ridiculous -- I was woken up first thing in the morning by active construction (drills!) not outside but in the room directly next to mine, at 8am. Yotel all good beautiful practical modern clean but small room. Check in was automated in a kiosk and everything nice and friendly and hip, except when you check in ding! You have already prepaid the room, and now you have the distasteful unpleasantness of paying the mandatory USD $25.62 "Facility Fee". USD $25.62 "Facility Fee" is charged regardless of any of the amenities being open during your stay. To be fair, the "Facility Fee" is disclosed when you book the Yotel hotel room. It is bundled as "taxes and fees" together with four different taxes, which totaled to an additional 34% of junk fees and junk taxes added to the room rate. Studies have found shoppers don't fully add in junk fees when price comparing, and that's why junk fees exist. I just wish Yotel being nice and friendly and hip could get past that. read more

Boston is a very expensive city to visit, and I found the best deal for a hotel in walking distance of the sites I wanted to visit was at the YOTEL. I wasn't expecting much since the rooms are so small. But I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed my stay there. The automatic check-in process was very smooth. The room is small but they have done an amazing job at maximizing the space. There is a spot for everything. Obviously, the more people you travel with and the more luggage you bring, you can run out of space quickly. If you know you are coming to the YOTEL it's best to pack light. If you do pack light and you take the time to explore the room when you arrive you will find a good spot to put your things and unpack. And there is a folding chair off to the side that I didn't notice at first but comes in handy when you don't want to sit on the bed. The bed is adjustable and very comfortable. Right across from the bed is a mounted big screen TV. The bathroom is only separated form the rest of the room by a curtain. The toilet does have its own separate enclosure thankfully. The shower is bigger than I expected and you can choose to wash yourself with a wand or under the monsoon shower. Both have ample water pressure. Breakfast was delicious at the lobby bar, and from what I heard I missed a good time up on the roof deck. As long as the price stays reasonable by Boston standards I would go back the next time I visit Boston. read more

This hotel definitely feels more like a business hotel. I think for a business trip it would be perfect. However, if you're looking for that homey feel this is not the place for you. Everyone was very nice, professional, and didn't hesitate to meet all our needs. We went down in the afternoon to have lunch and grab a cocktail. Service was incredibly slow. Our waiter was quick to bring us bottles of water but after that he seemed to magically disappear repeatedly. We ended up with a second server who must have been new but was incredibly kind. My clam chowder (not great but wasn't horrible) came faster than my cosmo (cocktail). All in all, I'd recommended YOTEL as a hotel just find another place to eat / drink. read more

Was excited to see another rooftop bar in Boston. I came for a brunch on a brisk fall and the Sky Lounge was empty. It is a relatively new fixture in Seaport, but I figured a swanky place like this would be more filled during a Sunday brunch. The emptiness was actually nice and my party of 4 was the only one there at the time. We were given a bunch of free swag from various employees usually nightlife promos and the bartender was actually pretty fun to converse with. I look forward to visiting again when the weather is nicer; we were allowed to step out to get a glimpse of the view and it IS really nice. As far as food goes, the lighter fare may be your best bet. Jury's still out on the actual dining. My Mediterranean Skillet I had was just ok and definitely on the drier side to say the least. My friend got the eggs with braised beef and her entree definitely looked more moist than my food. Our other two friends shared the California Turkey Club since we were headed to a wine tasting after; they were content with their meal too - maybe I was just the odd one out with my order. read more
