They quoted me lower prices on the phone, and then tried to upsell our children on adult bicycles once we got there. Once our credit card was already charged, I confirmed that they had in fact picked out a bicycle that was too large for my small 10-year-old. When I told the girl behind the counter that we needed to trade out the adult bike for a child bike, she acted like I was annoying her. When I asked if we would be refunded the difference (since we were trading out for a less expensive bike), she said we would be. But I could tell from the look in her eyes that she wasn't going to do it. And she didn't. So, girl who is too cool to be bothered by doing things correctly, this one goes out to you. read more

Just got on island today. Staying at Nantucket hotel. Reserved bicycles at youngs far in advance based on recommendation from hotel. They said they would deliver the bikes to hotel but then said we needed to come and get fitted. They tell you to come get fitted because they do not want to deliver the bikes. They told us they won't deliver bikes. Waited forever because only a select few employees can use register. Rest sit around. We had to come back because it took too long. Came back and again the same service. Simple bike rental should go much smoother. There are a ton of small shops that would appreciate your business. Dont waste a day there. read more

Nice and easy: We walked in and we were riding out within 15 minutes. The bikes were a little ill-fitting, but that's too be expected given that they have to have a few-sizes-fits-all setup to do as much business as they do. The bicycle map was perfect, and gave us just enough info to do a nice 20-mile bike ride on a beautiful summer afternoon. My only suggestion would be that they should stress wearing helmets more. Young's Bicycle Shop is top-notch. We rented the Cannondales and loved them. Light, easy gear-shifters (8-speed, I think), comfortable seats. Unfortunately, the first day we rented, one of the bikes blew a tire (probably on a sharp clam shell on the road) not long after we left the shop, which was just about to close up. We managed to find someone still in the shop after closing, and they were very apologetic and gave us a replacement right away. On the second day we rented bikes, it was overcast and forecast for rain, but we took a chance. Luck was not on our side, however, as it started raining steadily only about ten minutes into our ride. We rode back to the shop, drenched, frustrated, and disappointed about the weather. The personnel at Young's made our day, however, when they apologized for the weather and gave us a refund. Old world values. The go to shop! Arrived on Nantucket for a long 4th of July weekend with only my bicycle for transportation. Late Sunday, during the peak of their busy period, I brought my bike in with a bent chain (came off the chain ring at high speed, got twisted and bent). Gentleman squeezed me in, replaced the chain, got me back up and running for cheap! Every other bike shop on the island that I called hemmed and hawed and gave me reasons why they couldn't help. 5 stars +++ Always use Youngs for all our guests for bikes, burleys etc. We use delivery and pickup service so that the little ones dont have to ride out of town in traffic. Their bikes are top notch (we had brand new ones this year!), their customer service is second to none. I ordered a bike through web site and they shipped it to this shop, they never called me that they received it, I called them and the person on the phone said that he has customers in front of him and he can't deal with me now (like I'm not a customer!!!!), I stopped by and staff was very rude! Best deal on Nantucket -- and a great way to spend a sunny day exploring with family and friends. Last week, I was part of a group of 3 families (Age range: 6-60; fitness range: couch potato to avid cyclist). We rented bikes through Young's, based on great Yelp reviews. One of the employees recommended the ride out to Madaket for lunch + beach time. That afternoon turned out to be the highlight of our week of sailing around, exploring Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Recommend Young's for their fast, friendly, professional service -- plus great equipment, excellent prices AND fun t-shirts. Our 6 year-old loved the Trail-a-Bike. Only small gripe I overheard was that the gear shifters that are integral in the handles sometimes shift when you don't want them to. read more

You would be hard pressed to find a business in a tourist area more trust worthy, service oriented and accommodating than Young's Bicycle Shop. They under promised and over delivered on service, communicated very well, and delivered a well serviced bike back to me. The rental bike while our bikes were being repaired was inexpensive, and efficiently handled. A repair shop down the street told me they could get to my bike repair in five weeks. Many of us are so used to bad service, we put up with more than we should. Young's shows you don't have to; good for them!! read more

Talk about customer service!! We misplaced our key to our bike lock and were trapped on this perfect beach day at our hotel. We called another place first, listed alphabetically on Google, but they were useless. This place sent over a nice young man to clip our lock and said it was on the house!! Young's rents great Cannondale cruiser-style bikes with front shocks - perfect for navigating over the cobblestone streets in downtown Nantucket. These are new Cannondales - the nicest of this style bike I have ever rented. We reserved our bikes online prior to our arrival. Pickup was quick and easy with friendly service. The seats are soft and very comfortable. The basket on the ladies bikes is sturdy. Easy locks. Great experience. read more

Friendly, efficient staff, reasonable prices. I'd read a number of reviews that said that this was the place to rent bicycles on Nantucket and based on my experience here I would have to agree. My only complaint, and this has nothing to do with the shop itself, is the amount of traffic on the island, even in mid June. As much as it costs to bring an automobile here I was shocked at the number of cars...I can understand people that live and work here might need cars, but it was mostly the big monster 4x4s with out of state plates that made the roads hazardous. Once we made it alive to the bike paths, though, they were excellent. read more

Make sure you check your bill when you pay, especially with bikes on the same account. Youngs charged me for bicycles I did not rent and would not help me resolve the problem. I will never rent from them again. read more

My locked bike was stolen on the first night. The shop said it was unusual for locked bikes to be stolen, but that most bikes taken are found eventually. $600 later it was a pretty expensive afternoon. It doesn't seem like this is a common occurrence but I'd like to post this for the record. The bike number was 4504. read more

These guys were amazing. They patiently handled the three of us including our 7 year old. We needed all types of bikes and they outfitted us perfectly. I'm particularly grateful because the shifted the brake handle on my son's bike to the left side to accommodate his limb difference. They made it incredibly easy and were very conscientious in making sure our helmets fit and the bikes and seats were the right size for us all. They were extremely knowledgeable about where we could ride and how to get there. So helpful! read more

I recently purchased a road bike from Young's Bicycle Shop. I rode it for a few days and decided it really wasn't the bicycle for me. I brought the bike back to return it and after bouncing me back and forth between employees for a while the owner of the shop told me that returning the bike is a big problem! He told me they would inspect the bike and that I should come back the next day to sort it out. I came back the following day and after waiting for half an hour a scruffy looking guy approached me and said there is nothing he could do. He will not accept the bike back because I had it it for 10 days and it's no longer "new." I cannot express just how upset, irratated and dissatisfied I really am at this whole ordeal. I will never purchase ANYTHING from this business again and will tell anyone looking to purchase a bicycle to steer clear of Young's Bicycle Shop. read more

Best way to see Nantucket and this is the best place to rent bikes. A few years earlier I got a bike from another place with a saddle that kept slipping down, gears which didn't change, your basic nightmare. Youngs bikes are new, comfortable, reliable and the staff is fabulous. read more
