Came here on a colder day and these noodles hit the spot. The Noodle in Scallion Oil with Chicken (N6 on the menu) and Yibin Spicy Dry Noodle (N5) were nice and spicy and had really good flavor. The Porkchop Noodle Soup (N12) was good too- the broth was light and clean and the pork chop was juicy and tender. The hand-made noodles were quality and had good texture. We also got the Soup Dumplings, which were solid, and the Buffalo Wings, which were cooked using Chinese seasonings and chilis instead of actual Buffalo sauce and were surprisingly good. I've been eyeing Yu Noodles from the sharetea across the parking lot for quite some time and finally managed to stop by today. It's tucked away in the corner of the parking lot, but that apparently hasn't stopped people from finding it, as there were only two open tables when I arrived today just before 6pm on a Saturday. My partner and I definitely over ordered for two people, but we wanted to try a bunch of things. - Pork chop over rice: the pork chop was crispy, tender, and not overly breaded. The minced pork was sweeter than what I usually have at home, but still good. Definitely would order again! - Sichuan beef noodle soup: I liked everything about this, except the noodles. You could taste all the delicious spices in the beef and broth, but the noodles tasted like overcooked store-bought noodles. For my fellow cilantro haters, make sure you ask for no cilantro! - Pan fried buns: the bun texture was so good - light and chewy on top and crispy on the bottom. The filling wasn't all that special and just tasted like soy sauce, but I'd get it again for the bun. - Pork XLB: my least fav. The wrapper broke when we each picked up a dumpling, forcing us to rush to catch the soup with our spoons. It was kind of in between the thin Din Tai Fung style wrapper and the thicker Shanghainese style, but without the QQ texture of either. The broth was sweet but the filling didn't stand out and tasted v similar to the pan fried buns' tbh. Service is as you'd expect of a Chinese restaurant, but this is one of those places where you come for the food, not the ambiance. To their credit, the food does come out pretty fast at least. This place served great noodle soups to my opinion. I ordered flounder with sour cabbage and didn't disappointed at all. We also ordered spicy marinade beef and tripe, which i think it's just okay and not too spicy. Shrimp and pork dumpling kind of on dryer side, i'll give them 3.5 star for this. Overall i think this place is great to grab quick lunch, fast service, the place get really crowded, sometimes you might have to wait. Yu noodles is always one of my go to spots and favorite restaurants at the moment. I always have a good meal here. I came for dinner on Friday. The restaurant isn't too big and get quite busy during peak hours. Service is prompt and food comes out pretty quickly after ordering. I always get a couple of items per person when I come as the portions are not too big. The items that I always get is the scallion pancake, pan fried pork buns and the Chongqing noodles. The buns have that perfect crisp and are juicy inside. The noodles have an additive salty spicy combination! The cucumber water they give helps quench your thirst as well. Only thing about this place that I would ding them on is that you do feel slightly rushed when dining here. While this is not their fault since the restaurant gets busy and they want to turn over tables quickly. Anyway, I would definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

Went here for lunch with my friends and definitely left satisfied! Yu Noodles successfully delivered enjoyable food, comfortable ambiance, and solid variety. I went here at 2pm for lunch with my friends on a Tuesday and got seated immediately. Looking around, the restaurant looked clean and cozy with traditional Chinese art on the wall. We ordered the yibin noodles, pork soup dumplings, sesame noodles, and chongqing noodles. Both the yibin and chongqing noodles had a spice (as advertised) that I enjoyed, it felt flavorful without being too overpowering. We received the noodles first and then the soup dumplings came out a little later. I would definitely recommend the soup dumplings, they came out with a balanced portion of broth-to-meat ratio, the dumpling skin was nice and thin for breaking, too. Noodle dishes start at around eleven bucks, definitely reasonably priced and the portion will be enough to comfortably fill you up. Cash is preferred (they offer a five percent discount on cash transactions) but they take card as well. I would come back and try their cold noodles next time! read more

I stopped by Yu Noodles for lunch today for dine-in service and nearly every table was full. After completing my meal, I understood why. In the past I had only ordered takeout from Yu, and though the food was solid, it was lacking the gusto that usually comes with a highly-rated local restaurant. So my first recommendation is to sit down at a table and enjoy the experience. It starts with drinking cucumber-infused water out of their beautifully designed cups emblazoned with the Yu Noodles logo. The table setting also includes sturdy wooden reusable chopsticks, the kind you would keep at your house as opposed to the kind that is liable to give you splinters. The wall art and modern design also add to the experience. But of course what really matters is the food and it's just better fresh, served the way the restaurant intended. This was my first experience with the Chongqing Noodles and the flavors and textures were all on point. I thought about adding meat, but the presence of the egg and the surprising star, the peanuts, gave me all of the protein and bite variety that I needed. The heat level was just right (but it's pretty spicy if you don't love spicy food, so beware) and was really enough food to fill me up on its own for just $9. That said, I had to get some soup dumplings. Yu does them as well as any place that I'm aware of in town, but once again eating in house bumped my peppercorn spicy soup dumplings up another level because you get the chance to mix your own sauce at the table. They give you a ladle with some fresh ginger and you add your desired quantities of soy sauce, chili crisp, and vinegar. I recently introduced my family to Yu Noodles, and since then they've made the 30-minute drive almost every weekend to eat here -- more than worthwhile for high quality Chinese food. I loved the spicy Szechuan flavors, mala and lots of roasted dried chilis in the noodle soup. The addition of chickpeas was unconventional but I didn't mind them. The broth was rich and had depth. The noodles were pleasantly chewy and very satisfying. I ended the meal with the refreshing mango sago (mango, coconut milk and tapioca) which cooled my mouth. They also leave a large pitcher of ice water infused with cucumber at each table which helped me manage the heat. This is practically one of my favorite places to get Chinese food within the NOVA area. The food taste very authentic to Chongqing style cuisine which is very hard to find in the area. I always order one of the noodle dishes. You cannot go wrong with the Chongnqing noodles! The Chongqing noodles have a great amount spice to the broth, the noodles have a nice and chewy texture to them, and I love the addition of the nuts to the soup to give you the crunch to the dish. I also recommend the pan-fried baos and soup dumplings as they taste SO good as well! I don't really recommend the rice dishes at all since they are kind of bland and do not have much flavor as the other dishes. The reason for my rating is because the noodles are fantastic! They are super flavorful - I like the spicy beef noodle ones because it has that Szechuan peppery spicy flavor going on. The only slight problem I have is the portion size with the noodle soups. Otherwise the soups are the best thing there. The other thing for the rating was because I was not impressed with the soup dumplings. The soup dumplings were small compared to the other soup dumplings I had and theirs did not have that significant "juice drip" in their dumplings. I've had better soup dumplings and this was not impressive. And they are pretty pricey compared to the size and quality. The staff keeps this restaurant very clean and they have hand sanitizers every where, staff is also wearing gloves and masks. They give you fresh cucumber water and jasmine tea. These are some of the best Chinese noodles in Northern Virginia! Whether you get soup noodles (my fave) or dry, they do not disappoint. To get the full noodle experience, I decided to order Sichuan Beef Noodle Soup and Yibin Spicy Noodle, and I just had to have an order of the Steam Pork Bun. The portion sizes were very reasonable for the prices - about $9-$11 for noodles and $5 for bun. Our waiter was very attentive when taking our orders and even packaged my leftovers for me. As for COVID safety measures, all the staff wore gloves and masks, hand sanitizer was readily available, and customers were seated at least six feet apart. The excellent dining experience, reasonable pricing, and flavorful food will for sure be bringing me back here within the next few weeks. Finally made my way over to Yu Noodles Cafe on a rainy cold day, looking for something comforting and delicious. After going through the Yelp pics and reviews I decided on the Sichuan beef noodle soup, garlic cucumbers, and the pan seared Zhong spicy oil dumplings. Beef Noodle Soup: The broth was DELICIOUS. If the soup came with the broth and nothing else, I would be perfectly content. I didn't care much for the noodles they used, but still..that broth. It could have been spicier but you can tell that they really took the time to build the flavors and make it the beautiful flavorful broth that it is. Garlic Cucumbers: At first I wasn't completely satisfied as I felt they needed to marinate longer, but as I dug out the cucumbers that were submerged in the sauce I got exactly what I was looking for. I caught myself trying to eat the sauce with my fork LOL. Super yummy, and a nice refreshing snack to balance out the meaty meal. Zhong Spicy Oil Dumplings: Meh. They were okay...but very oily (duh I know it's in the name) but don't expect anything other than that. The flavors were trying to come through but the oil just overpowered everything. I wouldn't recommend it if you're sensitive to oily foods. Overall I had a good first time experience with Yu Noodles and I want to go back to try their soup dumplings. I do want to note that a good amount of the dishes contain peanuts, and I wouldn't be surprised if they also used peanut oil. I first ate at Yu Noodles about two years ago, but never wrote a review. Since then, I've been back a couple of times and I'm finally getting around to writing one. I came for dinner tonight with a group of girlfriends. Luckily, we were able to snag a table before the crowd came. All of the workers were very busy, but they move fast if you can get their attention. Our food came out very quickly despite how crowded and busy they were. We ordered many different things to try and the items we enjoyed, we ended up ordering more of. Our favorites in no particular order: soup dumplings, cucumbers, scallion pancake and chili oil wonton. Of the three desserts they have, we liked the mango sago the best. Did not like the ice jelly one at all.
