A good sign of a decent Mexican restaurant is the priority of importance of the chips and salsa they put on the table before you even order off the menu. A quarter of the chips where stale and salsa was below average. Now to the what was ordered. I had a halibut fish taco with rice and beans and it was great! Portion of halibut was huge let alone the size of the taco. I loved the rice as it was a bit different from the usual you would get at most mexican restaurants. My daughters steak quesadilla was ok. Nothing special about it. It was good. No drinks were ordered, just water but when this place is packed, service can be a bit slow. Staff was kind and helpful. I look forward to coming back as their menu had some interesting items to order. Will i come back? Yes. Definitely worth another shot. read more

Glad I came in around 4:30, because it got busy and crowded! It was impressive for a Tuesday. I love Mexican food but tend towards some of the same dishes. Here I tried something completely new for me. Panuchos. Handmade black bean tortillas for the base, marinated shredded pork, beans, cheese, avocado and pickled onions. So good! My server, Katheryne, was attentive, helpful and kept my tea filled. The restaurant itself is small and I found my seating less than comfortable but my food was amazing! There is street parking but it is not on PCH. There is a triangle of business and one of the streets is PCH. The street parking is behind the triangle along with Yucatan Grill! This is one of my favorite restaurants. The staff is great. Rudy and Javy are both great. The margaritas are off the hook!

Have been a customer since about 2000. Unfortunately the food has become quite bland and flavorless. My MIL got a crab enchilada and said it was flavorless. My husband got the you call it burrito and said it was bland. I got the MOJO chicken it had good flavor BUT they pounded the the chicken so thin (I guess to make it look bigger) that it was so dried out and tough I could hardly cut it with a knife. The salsa was ok but the chips not so much..again flavorless and no salt. This is all too bad because we have always really enjoyed the food. read more

OMG! I forgot to write an update when we were here last April. So before I forget this time, I need to sit down and do this NOW! Last night I had a hard time deciding between the prawn enchilada and the crab enchilada with tequila cream sauce, finally succumbing to the temptation of creamy deliciousness. The crab was plentiful and the sauce delectable. My wife's Mole enchilada was perfection, as was their home made guacamole and chips. My wife and I closed our eyes with every blissful bite! We again asked each other why, with our large hispanic population, does Napa not have a Mexican restaurant of this quality??? Who knows? Check 'em out! read more

A friend brought me to Yucatan for the first time years ago when I mentioned to her that I loved Mexican food. Since then I've made a point of visiting at least a couple of times a year. The food here is both tasty and surprisingly inexpensive, with very generous portion sizes! Everything I've tried here over the years is really good, but for my money the best thing they serve are their tacos. When you order them you should start out hungry - the are very filling and pretty large. The staffers here are welcoming, efficient, and friendly; they really go the extra mile to give you a good experience every time you visit :-) Tip: This restaurant is much-loved by the locals, so I suggest that you go early to ensure good seating. read more

My friends took me here in early December and I immediately took my mother less than a week later. The first time I went for a chile relleno (ala carte) and the crab enchilada. Superb! The chile relleno was VERY cheesy and had fluffy, crispy battered exterior. I could have easily had 3 of these. The second time I went I ordered the chile relleno burrito - wet with ranchero sauce. I wish I had subtracted the beans and just added vegetables and cheese inside - along with shredded lettuce on top. Still delicious, though, and lasted me two meals. Two people, two dishes. First was the seafood pot which had generous amounts of scallops, shrimp and mahi mahi. The broth was mild but clean. Not bad and the seafood tasted fresh enough. The jerk chicken however was a complete miss. It wasn't jerk chicken and whoever in these reviews says it is obviously never had real authentic Jamaican jerk chicken ever in their life. It was a decent enough plate, but not jerk chicken and not worth the price. The sauce tasted off, almost like some weird household cleaning agent. Maybe that's just the spice and how it's supposed to be but wasn't my thing. I would have been better off opting for a burrito which is what I would do if I ever came back here. We left full off the meals and chips and salsa, but it was not an impressive $60 meal for 2 by any means. Super basic food, nothing special and the unique and exciting flavors you go out to different restaurants to experience just weren't there. Service was good. I've been coming here for over 20 years and can't get enough. Brisket taco is my go to and can be paired with a crab enchilada. The fajitas are my other favorite! The jerk wings are something you need to start your meal with to accompany your chips and delicious salsa (the wings sell out so order early). A pitcher of their house margaritas can be shared with your table but put your seatbelt on because they are tasty!!! I have tried just about everything on the menu over the two decades I've been coming here and have not been disappointment once. Ok , so we tried this place because someone suggested it on next door app. We started looking for New Mexican restaurant since Super Mex on 2nd street really sucks now. Anyways ordered 2 margaritas, wife always does the Cadillac, I did the skinny from advice from server. These were some of the worst tasting drinks ever poured. The mix ratio was none existent almost all alcohol. Horrible then the server was pissed when we just asked to get beer instead. The chips taste like they came from Costco bag that had been left open for day. Salsa was very watery with almost no taste. Ok do here goes the food. Good was not horrible. Was surprised to be honest. Brought out my wife's sides first, took them another 5ish minutes to bring out her carnitas. I called for a carry out order. I ordered their Seabass with rice and beans. They put the sauce for the fish on the side so my fish would not get soggy. The seabass was a good size and the rice and beans were so good with it. It was good size for me and I'm a pretty big eater. I definitely want to try more of their food. read more

Came here for a meal with family last Sunday before a nice day at the beach. I would have given them four stars instead of three if it weren't for a couple important things: firstly, it took them 45 MINUTES to take our order once we were seated. I think they only had one waiter there (on a Sunday morning???) I understand them being understaffed, but 45 minutes just to acknowledge our table? Really? Secondly, they charge an automatic 20% gratuity on parties over six people. We thought that was incredibly rude, considering we weren't happy with the service we received and were forced to give them a $22 tip for poor service. That being said, the food was pretty good, in my opinion. I had asada super nachos and an asada taco and a carnitas taco. The asada one was not enjoyable because of the crappy green sauce they put on it. I only took one bite of it. The carnitas taco was really good, but if I had known how big the tacos would be, I would have only stuck with the nachos. They were very good, smothered in cheese, meat, guac, tomatoes, sour cream, and beans. My fiancé's family did not find the food to be authentic enough, considering they are from the Yucatán and ordered salbutes, anticipating that they would be better quality and taste authentic since this place is supposed to be serving recipes actually from the Yucatán. All in all, I would probably go back, but I would choose a weekday over a weekend next time, and I would probably try something else from the menu. You all need to make a trip to the cutest mom and pop Mexican restaurant nestled in the heart of Seal Beach! I arrived on the early end because I had heard from industry friends how they fill up on Monday nights for dinner. So glad I did! I was greeted with nothing but smiles and I was seated right away. My first order was a spicy margarita. How cute, it arrived in a cactus glass! I love succulents, so this is the perfect drink for me. I later tried the Grand Yucatan - sweet, but strong. I felt like a million dollars after two drinks. Now for the food. I started with the ceviche appetizer, and let me tell you that this portion is enough for 3-4 people as an app or for one or two as a meal, even. It is freshly made in house and definitely worth the try if you like fresh dishes like that. I then moved on to the combo options for my meal, ultimately locking in on the lobster enchilada and Baja style mahi fish taco. Wow, that lobster enchilada was out of this world! It was creamy and just the right amount of limey. My amazing server Breanne was so attentive and advised me on every dish and drink. Her smile and warm demeanor made me feel so welcome in the space. I was the only table of one in a space filled with families and couples, so it was nice to feel so welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this hidden gem. The mom and pop vibes are not lost here. Everyone is so friendly and hospitable. Don't sleep on Yucatan if you're looking for a personal experience and a great meal. Small little gem tucked way back in the parking lot on the back of the building but worth it for some great food!! Who knows what is really "authentic" or not, all food is different even if you are a native of whatever country or region you are refering to. I ignore reviews that talk about such nonsense. So, yes, this is a Mexican food place but it is not the Mexican food place that all are used to.... or maybe it is!? Who cares, it's some GREAT food!! My first experience here was many years ago with some friends and one had me try her SHRIMP DIABLO. That is one dish that I've never forgotten, it was so great that I think about it often and consider a trip over to YG for a plate of that spicy, plump, spicy, yummy, spicy shrimp. Served with grilled peppers, beans and rice. So delectible and yummy! A popular among friends that I've gone with is the JERK CHICKEN too, however I have only tried a bite (not a chicken fan, really) but it had great flavor and seemed to be tender and not dry either with a great taste of spice as well. CRAB ENCHILADA.... come to momma!!! So incredibly good and stuffed full of crab. There's a tequila-lime sauce on there that compliments the dish perfectly. A couple visits after my initial tastebud awakening, I went for Taco Tuesday!! Great little menu of several taco options. The price wasn't super inexpensive but it definitely wasn't bad for what I got. Regular tacos are $1.95 each and specialty tacos (shrimp, mahi mahi, salmon, etc) are $3.95. I had a CRUNCHY BEEF TACO and a SALMON TACO, both were loaded full and prepared perfectly. I will say that the salmon taco was one of the best tacos I've ever had, a taste sensation. Now, if you like spice added to your dish, they have a squeezy bottle of hot sauce (called Dogs Nose) that they'll bring you. Wow, is that stuff great!!! Enough spice that I had the hiccups for about 2-3 minutes after my first bite using that stuff. I love some spice to my food, was awesome. You can get a bottle to go too.... Dear Santa, I want this. MARGARITAS are plenty! Options are more than I can even remember and on their website menu they aren't even all listed. I have never ordered one myself (gotta drive home, you know) but I've had a sip of a few of them; how about a Cucumber & Spicy Pepper maggie? Or a Pineapple & Pomegranate marg? Or heck, just go for the traditional El Patron Margarita made with a dab of orange juice? Some day I'm trying them all and calling Uber to haul me home! The restaurant itself is a semi-tight squeeze but they can accomodate larger parties fairly easily. It twists and turns so it can be a bit confusing but it is a quaint and old style place that has great atmosphere and obviously wonderful food too!! Go check it out!
