Ordered online for a pickup of 25 minutes out. 1hr 20mins later no food. Poor excuses from the front end. People dining in claimed almost 2hrs to get their food. God forbid if you get a smile from any of the hostesses... Here's what's fueling my review tonight as i stand in my kitchen and cook my own rice, for the second time while my sad looking, overpriced order gets cold on my kitchen counter. Even after I call and let them know my order was incorrect, no big deal, I'm a forgiving man and I'm not perfect myself...their offers to reconcile the mistake are always showing the minimum amount of care for me (us) the customers. 20% off my next meal is a joke, for an already ruined meal. No thanks. And offering to bring it here, so it can get colder? No thanks. How's the food that I did get in my bag you ask?? Well, my 15 dollar order of chicken teriyaki (minus rice) looks like over Cooked chicken pieces covered in a canned sauce with some frozen vegetables...maybe an order big enough for the lunch menu p.s. I did not order lunch. Where to start..... well lets start with first impression which was not bad nor good. The place itself is nothing fancy or anything you haven't seen at any other hibachi restaurant... deff not my favorite by far. We wanted a laid back meal so we sat at the bar and normally when you sit at the bar service is a bit faster and efficient.. well boy we were super disappointed! We didn't get our drinks or get our order taken for maybe 15/20 mins because the young bartender was too busy serving and conversating with her friends that were at the bar as well. The food on the other hand wasn't bad and was actually pretty tasty but because of the horrible service this is deff not somewhere I'd be returning to. read more

Sushi is one of my favorite foods, so I was excited to come here with a Groupon for my boyfriend's birthday after my roommate raved about the sushi here. For the most part, it didn't disappoint. With our $40 Groupon, we ordered an appetizer and four rolls, which ended up being just enough food for two people. Our appetizer, the fried squid, was the worst thing we had all night. For $7, we got about 8 small rings of fried squid with katsu sauce served on the side. The squid was very chewy, and I suspected it was previously frozen. The portion was disappointingly small for the price. Luckily, once our sushi arrived, all was well. We ordered the Dragon Roll, the Shaggy Dog Roll, the Spider Maki Roll, and the Spicy Red Snapper Roll. The Dragon and Shaggy Dog were special rolls, which came as 8 pieces, while the last two came as 6 pieces. All were very tasty, and the fish tasted fresh. If I had to nitpick, the Shaggy Dog was a little sweet for my taste and the Dragon could have done with less cucumber (it was absolutely stuffed with cucumber), but I enjoyed every bite on that plate of beautifully decorated rolls. The Spicy Red Snapper was the surprise hit of the night. It was so simple and cheap (something like $5.50), but it was done so well. After enjoying that, we both agreed it was a much better deal than our fried squid appetizer. Service was great, with someone coming by to refill our water as soon as it hit half-empty. They took our Groupon with no fuss. The interior is nice and homey. The hibachi looked like fun, so maybe we'll come back and try that at some point. This place doesn't have the best sushi in the state, but I know I'll be stopping by next time I have a sushi fix and don't want to drive too far. read more

THE WORST SERVICE/FOOD/ATTITUDE I have ever seen! The owner is under the assumption that the customer is always wrong... I ordered food from them online from DoorDash, and low and behold it's an hour later and my food isn't here. The delivery driver informs me that they wait until the driver gets there and THEN start cooking the food. What's the point if it takes 2 hours to get a meal?! Not o let that, but when I called and talked to the OWNER she blatantly lied to my face multiple times and flip flopped her story from "yes, we wait to make the food" to "no, your food is ready now". We spent Friday night at a dull place. Didn't really have good energy and I wasn't really impressed with the salmon that was drenched in some sort of sauce. I wanted rare steak and was given some good but not what I wanted steak so it just didn't sit well. Great food for sure! I'm always a fan of their sushi rolls special that runs from Sunday to Thursday lunch and dinner. Whether I'm here on my own or with a few friends it's good food all around. I've had non sushi items as well and they're also delicious. Definitely recommend the Shaggy Dog Roll, Dynamite Roll, and the Eel Avocado. For non-sushi, I've always enjoyed their gyoza and hibachi. However, Yume could definitely work on its service. Two times in a row the waiter or waitress would get my order incorrect, and when they brought out the wrong item they refused to bring me the right item, or would insist that I said the wrong item. Luckily the third time I caught them saying the wrong item to me (I ordered the salmon teriyaki box, but they insisted I ordered the shrimp one). But even so they tried to give me the wrong menu item and seem frustrated when I asked they bring out what I ordered. I come to Yume at least once a week. This is a great place for great sushi at low prices. They have a special menu from Sunday - Thursday where roughly 20 Rolls are 50% off. They have happy hour specials as well, which is also 50% off. You really can't go wrong coming to Yume. Peter works behind the bar with 40 years experience, and is one of the very reasons I keep coming back. The wait staff in the dining room needs a lot of work. Servers do not seem to have assigned tables, and are slow and unrespsonvie because of this. You don't know who is waiting on you and who isn't. Went in on a Friday night and greeted first by a few american workers near the bar. Then as you walk in to the dining area there is a crowd of Chinese waitresses. We were greeted immediately and service was quick too. But when my ice water came along with straw wrapper half soaked into the water, I realized it's one of those places where wait staff are not the most meticulous kind. (They were not busy either) Food came along with a fair amount of waiting. The gyoza came, without any dipping sauce. Age dashi tofu was okay, smaller quantity comparing to other places. Haru maki (Japanese spring rolls), were not all that different from chinese or vietnamese egg rolls. We tried the shaggy dog roll which everyone recommended here. It has tempura and crabsick on the top along with topiko. I personally like shrimp tempura so I thought this roll was pretty good. Also there was an eel dragon roll. HOWEVER, the rice was COLD AND DRY. And that completely threw me off. It was as if they left the rice over the counter for a long period. If it wasn't the eel on top that was warm and moist, the whole roll would not have been edible due to how dry the rice was. Overall I would say 3.5 star with service. 3 star with food. So 3 star is a fair for this place. read more

Driving up in the stop and shop plaza one wouldn't think to find a hibachi restaurant like Yume's. it looked dark from outside but inside was bustling with people dining and having drinks at the bar. We reserved for four at the hibachi table and we arrived on time. The hostess led us to our seats which were not set with the dinner settings. She apologized and the table was quickly set by someone. The waitperson took our drink orders and as we waited. The salad and the soup were both standard and not quite memorable. We didn't order any appetizers so the wait for the hibachi chef seemed longer than usual. Seems that they forgot to get the griddle ready, so my patience was very close to wearing out. The manager noticed our table's long wait so they gave us all a round of sake on the house. Nice save. I'm not usually one to go for hibachi, and it's been a very long time since I've had it. However I must commend the freshness of the scallops...which were ginormous and tender, perfectly cooked. The filet mignon even though I asked it to e cooked medium was cooked medium well or Well done. To me the sauce all over everything is too much and overpowered the taste of the proteins. I admit that the show was nice but I've seen more knife throwing and egg rolling more. There were lots of sake shots being given to everyone at the table though which was not bad at all. Seemed like a lot of people were redeeming their groupings that night besides us, and we didn't have any issues at all compared to other reviews. I don't think I'd be returning to Yume for the hibachi simply because I'm not a fan of overcooked and over sauced meats and vegetables.
