The black mushroom( rehydrated shitakes) were soft and tasty and the bean curd was in 1 inch chunks, custard like and good. since then we have ordered the same dish again twice. Now the same dish has hard mushroom, obviously not soaked long enough in boiling water. And the bean curd is not good or like custard. I am sad. I cannot eat here again. Good food for a good price and they're open hella late (: love their variety of (Asian) desserts, especially the sago desserts. They're pretty fast, but definitely not friendly and can be hard to understand (not very good English). Also, pictures of food posted all over the walls are written in Chinese. Feels kinda dirty and you should definitely wipe down your utensils, particularly the spoons. I got two spoons that I was able to scrape a brown layer off of. We used to come here many years ago during our college years. Their food is affordable with good portion size. We stopped coming due to one incidence. We ordered the eggettes, and the lady who was making it was on the phone. We had a feeling that it was going to get burned due to inattention. When she brought it over, I flipped it over to look at the bottom and sure enough it was burned! And she still brought it to us knowing it is burned. Of course we asked for them to make another one! And we have not been back since. We recently returned to Sac to visit, and decided to give this place another try. It was a weekday lunch and they had lunch special menu. Portion size is smaller than dinner, but comes with free drinks. For the drinks, we had both the ice lemon tea and the HK milk tea. Both were super delicious and authentic HK style taste! Their food were good, too! We ordered the wonton noodle soup, scrambled egg with beef over rice, and sparerib with black bean sauce. Everything went well during our time there. Staff was nice and allowed us to take the leftover drinks we had to go. Minus one point because we ordered the French toast over condensed milk. By the time we were all done eating, it still hasn't come yet. When we asked, they said they're making it, which has been over 30 minutes. We had to hit the road to return home since we didn't live in Sac anymore and asked them to cancel it. They insisted that they were making it and suggested for us to take it to go. If we took it to go, it will just turn out soggy and disgusting since we had a distance to drive. Well we waited another 10 minutes or so and it was still not ready. We had to REALLY insist for them to cancel the order and take it out of our check. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our time there. Nice cafe! Probably the only restaurant open late night after 9pm in the area, this place serves legit chinese food. The menu is huge with lots of selections, and the food is served hot with just the right amount of seasoning. Tasty but not too oily. The portions are pretty big too, and the price reasonable. The staff is friendly. The decor is nice too, especially at night, where they decorated the "patio" outside with nice outdoor lights. There were several folks who actually chose to eat at the tables outside, even though there were lots of table inside. The atmosphere outside is actually quite nice at night--cool breeze, with no bugs or pests, and glowy hipster lights :) Overall, will definitely come back more often! read more

Ordered take out during covid. Staff were friendly over the phone and in person. They even called back to let you know when your food is ready for pick up. I love their HK style french toast! It's so good and buttery. Perfectly fried and topped off with condensed milk and peanut butter. The baked items are a miss for me. I tried their baked fish over rice with the white cream sauce and their baked chicken spaghetti with the tomato sauce. Both baked dishes tasted like they were missing something. I loved the service I got while I was eating here and also the food was quite immaculate and the light gives me a childhood memory feeling.

It feels like a traditional cafe you would find in Hong Kong. Most of the people who come here are Asian, the portions are pretty large, and the food is just okay. There isn't much ambiance here either, it feels like a cafeteria. I've actually been here a few times and remember some of the dishes being a bit bland, most recently I ordered the curry, it was ok, but was a little dry. I ordered the baked spaghetti w/ pork chop and it's definitely not like your average spaghetti. We also had chow-fun and it was kind of bland. This is the most expensive boba tea I have ever purchased. This is also the worst boba tea I have ever purchased. Not only was it overpriced, but they were cheap on the product they served me. Although I had tried some small fried food plates in the past and was never impressed, I decide to give it another try. This was my first mistake. My second mistake was not turning around when The smell of old grease assulted me on the way in. Then, at the register, when I saw the very young girl and older grumpy woman exchanging funny looks when I asked about the tea, I should jogged my butt out of there. No, I went against my better judgement and tried to order. After a much confusion and several frowns in my direction, I was overcharged for a basic large black milk tea with extra boba. I started to ask about the overcharge but when I saw the older grouchy woman giving me the smallest scoop of boba in a small sized cup, I got distracted and asked the young lady if she was making The large I ordered? The young lady spoke to Ms. grumpy who argued with her, looked at me pointedly, and then slammed my tiny boba serving into a larger cup. The young lady looked at me with an apologetic face. At this point, I regretted paying for this mess. The cup was then filled with old, premixed tea. Not fresh. Premixed. No extra balls. What was that about? Charge for a large size but fool the customer by giving a smaller cup? Sadly this has happened to me before. By the way, I found out that the tea they served me is the basic milk tea they serve FOR FREE with meals. So, it's free if you buy the food but overpriced if you purchase it by itself. What a bizarre business technique. The tea itself was watered down with some type of no flavor milk substitute. The Boba, just as important, was chewy and hard. This is old boba, the kind you put in the fridge for a week and then dump out. It stuck to my teeth like glue and was flavorless. I had to throw the entire cup away, as no amount of doctoring this drink was going to fix it. I felt a ripped off...one does not want to overpay ( by several dollars higher than the menu) for old milk tea with expired boba. Just as you would never want to pay extra for your fave Diet Coke, and be given a small diet "Shasta cola". After I tasted the awful concoction and tried to get Ms. Grumpy's attention....maybe a refund (?) she was no where to be found. Transaction over. The House Special Crispy Noodle is why I come here. If you order to go, it comes with a large helping of crispy noodles in one container, and the delicious broth, meats, and veggies in a second soup container. The broth is thick and savory. House Special means a variety of meat chunks that include pork and seafood, to name a few. Big ol' chunks of bok choy swimming around in there with rich and satisfying pork chunks and shrimps. I've gotten bits of octopus here and there, but not always. The noodles are perfectly crispy. MMMMM. Over the past year or so, I have ordered it multiple times while tipsy and on the way to my gentleman caller's, and time and time again, have forgotten exactly what they call it. Some places refer to noodles prepared this way as Hong Kong style. If you like this particular noodle preparation method, you will likely be asked if you are SURE that's what you REALLY meant to order at other chains and joints that sell it. They don't do that here, thankfully. I really get tired of that sort of thing. Yes, yes it's what I want, I know what it is, don't try to talk me out of it, fools! A Chinese Hong Kong style restaurant that opens late for the late party goers and drinkers or just plain hungry for good some in food not from Denny's or some American diner. Food is of a decent price, comes out it and fresh, and a good portion. There are family style meals for a good price on a separate menu to choose from. I believe you get to choose 3 dishes from the list and it costs a little less than $30. I never liked hot and sour soup because it was always bland, but I tried my friends here and it's good! I just don't like the shredded pork meat in it. I always get the salt n pepper chicken wings, egg puffs, hot Hong Kong style milk tea, iced Hong Kong style lemon tea hot/cold, salt n pepper fried tofu, and the fried flounder. Those are my main go to dishes that never fail me. Service of course is not going to be great because there generally are only two servers on the floor during the late night. I first discovered this place on Door Dash since they were open pretty late. The fried rice and beef broccoli were surprisingly good. After a few Door Dash orders I went here myself since it's actually pretty close to my work. They are located off Freeport Blvd, close enough to the freeway. They have their own parking lot but the spaces are pretty tight. They have a lot of pictures of food on the wall, actually all over the wall, counters, etc. The dining room is very basic with lots of room. Everything I've had from here has been very good. My mother is hooked on the chow mein with the skinny egg noodles. I still always get my beef broccoli and fried rice. They also have a lot of desserts including egg puff waffles and smoothies. I'd definitely peruse the pictures before ordering. On today's visit, i has a negative experience with the employees. Typically I always get pretty great service and the two times before our food came out quickly with friendly service. Today, was different. Perhaps I should not have asked about substitutions on their dinner menu (no substitutions!) or maybe the girl working the register had a long day, but it was less pleasant today. We have been buying from Yummy cafe for ages. For $10 bento it is really a steal. Pretty authentic taiwanese style. We love the pork chop rice and have ordered that for so many times already. Daily special changes which you can find the daily menu from their FB. Some have complained about the attitude from the owner(male) but he is just a bit loud, his wife however is a super sweet lady, and she always answer the phone with a pleasant and sweet voice that reminds me of my mom. We love the fish filet dishes too, and sometimes we would order the popcorn chicken. Cash only, but for $10 or so, I would not complain. The pork chop is on the sweet side, which reminds me of some of the bento places I used to frequent when I was in taiwan. Came here for dinner with a friend after a long day of hiking in the bay. Friend's choice. Haven't been back to this in forever. Service was okay. We were seated right away and given menus. We ordered a few dishes to try. My friend ordered the chicken steak with macaroni. Waitress came back 10 minutes later and told us they were out of the chicken so my friend decided to go with the pork chop. Waitress left and came back another 10 minutes and told us they were out of macaroni. My friend was not too thrilled. She decided fo order the udon stir fried dish instead. By this time my two dishes had already came out. Deducted a star because of this. We shared my the dishes I've ordered and by the time I was done eating her noodles dish finally came out. Quite a big disappointment. Food overall was okay. The egg waffles was okay. The beef stew over rice was soft. The honey garlic pork spare ribs was okay. They don't taste as good as I remember but they're still flavorful. I was not much a big fan of the black pepper Udon noodle. It wasn't flavorful for me. I get that you're trying to be all trendy with your new booths and adding boba drinks to your menu but that didn't distract me from noticing that some of your menu items tasted different , you guys became so stingy with your portions , the new hires are somewhat uneducated, your boba was hard as a rock and once my teeth finally cut into it, it stuck to my teeth , the chicken wings were uncooked and drenched in MSG, AND the noodles we ordered were served cold. So many reasons not to come back . I thought blue moon had horrible food but you know what, They actually have alcohol and karaoke that makes up for it. Thank goodness because we were driving around for what seemed like hours looking for something outside of McDonalds. Don't be fooled by the name. This is not your everyday Jamba Juice shack. On the contrary, this restaurant stays true to serving a lot of famous Hong Kong cafe foods! This small family owned business serves up some great eats such as the British-Cantonese influenced Macaroni Noodle Soups, to Pork Chops over a bed of spaghetti. The options were there, and best of all... it was cheap!! We each ordered a lunch special consisting of a main dish and a drink. 1. Hong Kong Milk Tea - My friends, the bitterness that makes this famous was there! A definite must. HK style milk tea is my favorite and if you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out. 2. Salt & Pepper Spare Ribs - This one came with a helping of white rice. The ribs weren't too heavy from the drying, and was both crunchy and delicious. A bit on the dry side, but nothing a little bit of sauce can't help fix. 3. Egg Waffles - For a side, we also ordered the honeycomb looking egg waffles. You HAVE to order this while here. It seemed as though she came back with the same cup and added more sugar and milk to my cup because it was stirred and I usually can see the milk and tea apart before I stir it myself. I try the tea once more in hopes of having a better tea aroma to my THAI TEA. It still tastes like a cup of sugar and milk. I proceed to tell her that I don't want the tea anymore because it was horrible and made me want to vomit in my mouth (although, I didn't tell her I wanted to vomit). She then says, "Then why did you order it then?" After saying that remark she walks away into the kitchen. I just sit there with my mouth agape and I was shocked. I understand it's 1 A.M. in the morning but DAAAAAMNNN. That lady made me feel like it was my fault that they couldn't make a Thai tea correctly. If I wanted to pay $3.50 for sugar and milk then I would've! Now, I try to calm myself by eating my food but I lost my appetite because I just now feel like an idiot. These people are badmouthing in Chinese and I can roughly comprehend what they're saying because I'm half Chinese (I don't look it, so they probably assume I don't understand them). At this point, I don't want to eat. The food doesn't look good and out of all my friends, I'm the only one who ordered this unsettling food. I've been coming here for years because their food is consistent and tasty. They have a large menu so you're guaranteed to find something to please everyone. They have authentic Chinese and Hong Kong dishes, but also American dishes like French fries and chicken wings haha. My favorites are: Soy sauce noodles - simple, but tasty. Thin noodles are stir fried with strips of white onion and bean sprouts, though I always ask for no bean sprouts. Baked pork chop spaghetti - tender pork chops in a tangy and sweet tomato sauce are served over noodles (or rice), topped with cheese, and baked. It sounds kinda strange, but the sauce is so good! A must try, at least once. Staff aren't as attentive, but food always comes out hot.
