    DRUNKEN NOODLE
    Tanya K.

I have found my FAVORITE spot for Tom Yum Noodle Soup. They offer minced pork or seafood as choice of protein both priced at $15. The serving size is a bit smaller than what you'd get from spots in Elmhurst BUT this place packs a punch in terms of flavor. Their Tom Yum is creamy from coconut milk and finished off with a fresh squeeze of lime. Our server, May, was such a gem - she's the only one working the front of the store and she juggles take out orders AND waits on all the tables. She gave great recommendations and was honest on ones she haven't tried before, so was hesitant on recommending. I've also had their Gai Yang (grilled chicken)- which fyi, if you come later in the day they might not have the whole chicken and only the half. One thing I was missing from that is an order of papaya salad - which they unfortunately do not serve at this location. Seating can be a bit tight, so I'd recommend coming in on their off peak hours!

Zaab Zaab is located in Tangram Mall's Food Hall. We ordered the pad thai and pad see ew with chicken to go. It didn't take too long for the food to come out. We consumed it in the tables in the food hall. Both dishes were very flavorful. I would definitely come back.

BLUF: Good flavors, small portions, pricey. Zaab Zaab, which won a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2022, recently opened a new location in Tangram Mall's Food Court. This narrow food stall has seating for approximately 17 people. Dishes We've Tried: - Larb Ped Udon (Minced Duck Salad): $24.95. OK. The minced duck had the consistency and taste of minced pork, instead of duck. - Pad Se Ewe: $22.95. Delicious. The bacon and its infusion of flavors into the noodles added a level of enjoyment compared to regular Pad Se Ew, but the portion was small. Other: Suggested tips for dine-in start at 20% post-tax. Service could have been better for that level of requested tips. They could have at least refilled our water glasses. Tangram Mall provides restrooms and complimentary Wi-Fi, though the latter has been unreliable in recent visits.

Zaab Zaab makes it way to Flushing. Located inside Tangram. . They are still in the soft opening phase so some of their items are not yet ready. They have a dine in menu and a take out menu if you wish not to dine in.. the take out menu doesn't have many options.. . Since we were in a rush, we didn't order any of their soups or meat/fish platters, just noodles. . Shrimp Pad Thai - it was very good. The noodles had so much flavor. You can take the wok air in the entire dish. The noodles were very chewy. The shrimps were pretty plump and not over cooked. . Pad Se Ewe- this was delicious. They kept the noodles very think. You don't get to choose your protein though, it's fixed. Once again, the wok air flavor was all over this dish... . Seating area isn't big, good for small parties. I do think the prices are very high and the portions are not big at all. It's quality over quantity..

Today I stopped off here before I leave to do some travelling. I ordered Papaya Salad and Tom Som Gai/Chicken Tom Yum Papaya salad- Not bad, nice and crispy, good spicyness, sweet but not too sweet. Tom yum-Packed with flavor, spicy, sour, super fresh, galangal, kaffir lime leaf, lemongrass, chili peppers it had it all in there. Really good. Definitely one of my favorite tom yums. Service: On top of their game, water was frequently refilled, waitress was very friendly. Overall: Really good, excellent addition to Flushing.

I haven't had the chance to check out their restaurant, but saw they have a space at Tangram. The spot is tiny but super cute. My husband has a peanut allergy and the staff was really helpful and made sure the kitchen was aware. We decided to get 2 dishes, pad thai and beef krapow . Both dishes came out quickly and we were a little taken a back by how small the portions are. The pad thai had great flavor and satisfied my craving. The krapow was good but way too salty. We had to order extra rice so we could finish it. Overall, I liked the food but not sure what all the rave reviews are about.

Thai Green Tea ($5) - pretty interesting to try! strong green tea aftertaste

The lighting was such a vibe and with its convenient location for Thai cuisine, we opted for this for a quick dinner. After trying several spots here, I'm concluding Tangram food just isn't good because our meal was very dissatisfying. Service was off, she didn't look like she wanted to be there and dropped our bill and took away our plates too soon. This could have very well be just a grab and go spot like the other nearby joints if that was the case. I never had Boat Noodles ($12) before so I gave it a try, with the choice of Rice Noodles and additional beef balls/tripes/tendon ($3). Both our dishes had a weird aftertaste to them, and it's probably the sauce they use. Their beef balls had an especially funky taste to it that prevented me from having another one. Tripe was good though, and the overall portions were big. There were quite a number of good menu options here, but given the quality and service, I wouldn't be stepping foot here again.

After hearing many good things about the Elmhurst location, we were interested to try the flushing Zaab Zaab location due to it being a closer travel. The small restaurant is located in the Tangram food court. We came on a weekend during lunch, and service was quite slow. It seemed like every table had to wait awhile for their food. Took around 25min after ordering for our first dish to be delivered to the table. The waiter did apologize for the delay though. We ordered the Pork Kapow Over Rice ($15), Pad Se Ewe ($16), and Mango Sticky Rice ($12) Pork Kapow Over Rice - Included ground meat stir-fried with Thai hot basils, Thai bird chili, and garlic sauté. The waitress informed us that Thai spice is hotter than normal spice, so we opted for the mild version, but I think we would have enjoyed it more with regular spice. It was very flavorful and savory with only a small kick. [4/5] Pad Se Ewe - Was sweet and flavorful as the broad noodles stir-fried with pork collar, bacon, and sweet soy sauce. [4/5] Mango Sticky Rice - I really liked that they used pandan extract with the rice and the mangos were perfectly ripe, but the coconut sauce that was on top ruined it for me. I'm not sure why, but it did not taste right, so I tried to scrape it off as I was eating the dessert. [4/5] Overall the food was good, but due to it being quite oily, you may feel a little bloated/uncomfortable if you eat too much.

Kapow over rice and Zaab Fries
    Jason L.

Came here to try Thai food. The kapow over rice taste good. The peppers are very spicy. The rice was soft. The fries are crunchy and little juicy. Good for a meal. The water is filled into a Thai style cup. More like being in Thailand. The area is little small with tables placed around. The food are clean and service was great.

Cute small Thai restaurant inside the Tangram mall. They have a few of their own seatings that's like a a small cubby hole, got a slight restaurant feel with the walls, but you can also eat at the seatings provided by the mall. The food is pretty good, we got the kapow beef that comes with rice. The rice is surprisingly a lot less than expected, way more beef than expected. But beware that the food are spicyyy. We ordered mild, and it was still hella spicy for us. I can't eat that spicy but my friends that can eat quite a decent amount of spicy also said it's spicy, got us doing the "salivated heavy breathing". Had to order the Thai tea to try to make it go away lol. Also got the mango sticky rice which is also good. The cashier was really friendly Price is in between decent and kind of pricey.

    PAD THAI NOODLE

The pad thai i got had a sour taste and looked like it wasn't freshly made :( also i requested for extra peanuts & got nothing :(

Very surprising, The fish is so big and fresh, just a little too spicy for us. We will be back and make sure let them know we will like it less spicy. All the food are so amazing, can't believe we are in a food court in flushing

I was almost disappointed when I saw their sign still said closed a couple minutes past 11:30 AM, but they switched it really quick. Service was friendly and attentive. The Som Tum Pu Pla-Ra had such a delicious spicy, fermented briney umami to it. The crab was tender and well marinated, so it is on the salty side. The papaya and vegetables still had a good bite to them. The spiciness is no joke. Enjoyable, but I definitely wanted a break in between bites. A must get if you enjoy these flavors! I got the lunch special, which is available everyday (yes, weekends included. I was here on a Saturday!): - Complimentary Salad: crisp and fresh veggies. Great peanut sauce. - Chive Pancake: Crisp exterior and airy interior. The sweet chili dipping sauce added great flavor. Not too sweet or spicy. - Garlic Noodles w/ Crispy Pork Belly: the pork belly was really crisped up, so some pieces were a bit too crisped up for me. The noodles were cooked well though. A lot of good flavos, a bit heavy on the salty umami but I like that. I'd choose a different protein next time. I did take the som tum pu pla-ra and the garlic noodles home for leftovers. Both maintained their deliciousness. The Mango Thai Tea has a good balance of mango and thai tea. It was a little sweet, but not overly so. Overall a solid Thai spot in the area, especially for the lunch special! A lot of fellow diners ordered the lunch special as well.

One thing I really appreciated was how accommodating they were for the birthday. We brought a cake and the staff kindly cut it for us and brought out cute little plates and forks so everyone could share. Small touch, but it made the celebration feel a bit more special. The space works really well for groups, and the atmosphere is lively without being overwhelming. The only thing I'd plan ahead for is parking -- it was a bit difficult to find a spot, so getting there early definitely helps. Price-wise was excellent with most dishes around the $10-30 range. Portions were large and meant to be shared. As for the food itself, I honestly expected better. If it was ranking in the same leagues as Fish Cheeks, Pranakhon, and Bangkok Supper Club on Beli, I thought the taste would be phenomenal but it truly just tasted like any decent thai spot I could find in SoCal. The only difference is that in SoCal there would be little to no wait. I must clarify that my qualms is not with the restaurant but with NYC having an issue of overinflating certain places and establishing high expectations of otherwise normal restaurants just doing its thing. The pad see ew was my favorite, and I liked how wide and long the noodles were. Otherwise, their Michelin Yum Duk Pla Fu was just another mango salad to me, and I had wished that the catfish tasted more like fish than breadcrumbing. The green curry was decent, nothing special. Good price for what you get though. If the wait wasn't unnecessarily long, I would consider this a nice spot for cheap, yummy Thai.

Our group was quite hungry as we had just walked maybe 14-16 or so miles, and I looked up the local spots around where we finished, and this lovely place popped up. We arrived pretty early for lunch, and there was already a handful of people here, but by the time we left, it was crowded. The inside has a nice design, almost reminding me of the old markets in Bangkok back when I was there. The female server we had was very friendly, giving recommendations to the people in our group who were less familiar with Thai food or helping them decide between dishes. I will note, though, that we were unaware of the lunch menu until post-meal, but that was fine with me as I left happily full. While I only had one dish and a bite of an appetizer, I would definitely go back here, and I wish it were closer, as I found this spot a gem among the many Thai spots. Someone else ordered the Curry Puffs for $10, with homemade puff pastry, ground chicken, potato, and onion with cucumber relish, as an appetizer. The dish arrived with three puffs, and I had a tiny bit of one of the parts as I wasn't sharing this dish. From the little I tasted, the puff was standard, but good, with a lightly spiced filling. The cucumber relish was slightly sweet as expected. The presentation was also nice, as there was a piece of watermelon radish as well as some sliced carrots. My main dish was the $16 Sukhothai Spicy Pork Noodle Soup with thin rice noodles, handmade pork meatballs, roasted pork, long beans, bean sprouts, peanuts, dried shrimp, and boiled egg. The dish arrived with a cracker with their logo on it, which was a fun touch, though it was soon dipped into the broth. The broth was slightly rich and quite porky as expected, and was mildly spicy. As per many other traditional Thai spots, though, they gave the usual mix of chilies and chili sauces, so soon, the spice was to my liking. The pork meatballs had a bit of bounce, and the roasted pork had good flavor. The rest of the vegetables and peanuts added a good crunch. The noodles were plentiful, and while I prefer egg noodles or thicker rice noodles found in other Thai soups, as they grab onto the broth better, they worked here. The rest of the people enjoyed their more generic dishes, ranging from green curries to Pad Thai to Pad Kee Mao/drunken noodles. I wish this place were closer, as I would definitely go back. The ratings are high, but justified.

The kitchen here doesn't shy away from traditional flavors--the food is unapologetically spicy and savory, avoiding the "overly sweet" profile that many Thai spots fall into. Here's the breakdown of what we tried: Tom Yum Goong: This was the star of the show. It had a sharp, clean heat and a perfect citrus punch without that syrupy finish you often find elsewhere. Crispy Pork Belly: Exactly what you want it to be. The skin was incredibly crunchy, and the meat remained tender, seasoned perfectly to highlight the savory pork flavor. Fried Fish: Deep-fried to perfection with a light, crispy exterior. The sauce paired chili and fish sauce with fresh mango. Crab Fried Rice: Generous with the crab meat and wonderfully "wok-hei" (charred) and salty. It wasn't bogged down by sweet soy sauce, allowing the delicate crab to shine. The only real sweetness of the night came from the Mango Sticky Rice, which was the perfect, cooling end to a very spicy meal. The mango was ripe and the coconut milk was rich, providing the only sugary reprieve of the evening. Service was so nice. The hostess and sever were so nice and friendly. The severer felt like a Thai uncle, he made jokes, gave us napkins, joked with my child. It felt so familial.
