We ordered takeout from Zachary's today and it was incredible! They had a special house soup that has chicken, rice, herbs and flavor that I'm pretty sure came straight from my grandmothers kitchen. 10/10! We also ordered a Greek Village Salad, which was a huge portion of big diced potato chunks bathed in once again, some kind of sauce & herbs made by the gods. It was packed with pepper rings, Greek olives, tomato, purple onion and fresh crispy cucumber slices. This dish was just absolutely incredible. To top it all off we ordered a side of pita bread that was warm, soft and incredibly light and airy. I can't believe we slept on this place for so long! Greek restaurants typically make ranch and it's banging. Sides of bacon are only two pieces and for a 14-18 count bacon, not that impressed. Bathroom fixtures are super nasty, didn't want to touch the sink to turn off the water. Another interesting thing about the men's bathroom is the sink is right next to toilet in the stall. We were staying in the hotel right next door so we had Zachary's To Go for bfast the day our cruise was leaving port. I called to ask questions first, they don't have biscuits, per se... like a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit on the menu. The lady answering the phone was helpful and friendly and got us all taken care of. Total was around 46.00 to feed 5 ppl, 5 biscuits. We ordered 5 biscuits, 4 sausage Pattie's, 2 sides of bacon and 2 eggs w cheese. I wish I had thought to snap Pics! I thought my biscuit was great! Clearly, homemade biscuits! My husband had a little sticker shock and kept saying we should have gone to the McDonalds across the street . Ate breakfast here. We are locals and the portions are good. I liked that the employees Celeste's tables well and the service was good. Had an omelette and husband had pancakes and all the food was tasty. I couldn't eat all my omelette so I took mine home. The hash browns were amazing. Nice crispy top. Looks like tourist really like the mimosas. Staff were kind and caring and pricing is reasonable. Also, nice touch with fresh flowers at the table. Only suggestion is blowing the sidewalk off daily as it looks like some tourist smokers litter their butts near the door entrance. The restaurant has booths and free standing tables with chairs. The tables are clean and not sticky. I ordered the chefs special. It was our last day in town and we decided to stop here and grab some breakfast my husband decided to try the Greek omelette and I tried the bacon ham and cheese omelette I thought the portion sizes were pretty good for what you paid for unfortunately I felt like my omelette needed more cheese the only put it on time which is kind of odd it probably would have tasted a whole lot better had there been a cheese slice in between the eggs as well. Don't let the outside fool ya! I know, I know.... I felt the same way when my mom said we were going to Zachary's for our Thanksgiving meal. I thought, " Wow, retirement life has really changed her. She must not love us as much anymore.". lol Then, she told us all to be quiet. Apparently, she goes to Zachary's all the time when she stays at her time share. We drove into a spacious parking lot. We stepped out of the car and entered what was obviously a former IHOP or Denny's; turned into a Zachary's. We were shown to our table. Inside was cramped but clean. Wait staff were sweet and positive. Menu had a lot of variety for an authentic Greek restaurant. You may order a standard American breakfast, lunch or dinner as well as authentic Greek dishes or even homemade spaghetti, mushrooms with crab filling, or on Thanksgiving... a traditional turkey or ham plate. Normally, I would say ample variety at a restaurant is a clear red flag. However, this place is the exception. Most items on their menu are made fresh and boy do you appreciate it in the taste. Plates are well seasoned and temperatures spot on. I strongly recommend the crab meat filled mushroom caps, greek salad, spaghetti with meat sauce, any of the greek dishes, and the baklava. This place is a good example of the story told to kids when they are little; You shouldn't judge a book by it cover. Lesson learned. read more

Zachary's Restaurant-Cape Canaveral-3.75-Stars When Zachary's came up on my random place name generator, all I knew was that I was going to have a beautiful drive up to the Cape. Located near the intersection of AIA (Astronaut Blvd in these parts) and Central Blvd. W. they are situated just south of the port smack dab in Tourist Central Fearing that they were just going to be another Floridian Tourist clip joint, I steeled my intestinal fortitude and entered. They have been around since 1990 so perhaps they are doing something right, I thought to myself as I was shown to a table. Perusing the menu I saw it was your standard Greek-American offerings with the only difference being everything was said to be made on site. My server, Mo (not short for Maureen), showed up and asked if I was ready to order. After being assured everything was made in the back (though still harboring some doubt) I only ordered one item. I have to say that Mo is an outstanding server and now on the BBDO shortlist of best servers in the area. The one item I ordered was the Gyro Dinner with a side of the soup de jour, in this case, it was Gyro Minestrone and some according to the menu and Mo, fresh-cut fries I didn't have to wait too long before Mo was seen approaching my table with the ordered items proffering tantalizing wisps of Greek seasonings spiraling up to Olympus. It was all I could do to wait for Mo to set the items down and depart before I could tear into the spread laid out before me. The soup. Wow. I have never had Gyro Minestrone before and this was a wonderful conglomeration of complex flavors all melded together into one succulent bowl of goodness. The noodles were cooked to perfection and I just have to say that this is a wonderful idea and truly a delightful soup. The fries on the other hand, for being fresh cut were average at best. Now onto the coup de gras, the Gyro sandwich itself. As with any sandwich, even the open-faced variety, the building block of bread is of the utmost importance. In this case, I have no doubt the Pita was made on-site as it was some of the freshest tasting Pita bread I have ever had and being half Syrian, I have had tons. It was springy, chewy and just fried enough to give it a nice break on the tooth. The Gyro meat is definitely different, it is like nothing I have seen from local purveyors. The meat is unique and flavorful. It is a true combination of lamb and beef as Gyros are meant to be. While the tzatziki sauce was a tad on the runny side, it was popping with authentic flavors and left no doubt in my mind that it was made in the back from scratch. The taste was amazing. This place would be 4 Stars if they tweaked their fries a tad. I don't know what was wrong with them, but they fell far short of the bar set by the rest of the grub. This is not your typical Florida tourist clip joint, but a place that cares about its customers as is evident in the quality of food slung forth from the kitchen and is well worth the drive if you are not in the area and certainly worth a stop if you are. When we walked in we were acknowledged right away but it took a little while to be seated. The restaurant was not busy (yet). We were seated and our drink order was taken. It didn't take too long to get our drinks (water & iced coffee). We waited about 10 minutes for our waitress to return and take our order. I was hoping for something light, like fruit and granola, but they didn't have anything like that on the menu. So I ordered one scrambled egg, hash browns, and dry toast. My husband ordered a Greek omelette. It took about a half hour to get our food. The restaurant dos get busy while we waited but our order was already submitted. The food finally came and it wasn't anything awesome. Not bad, but nothing to get excited over. When we were finished eating it took another 15 minutes for our waitress to acknowledge us. We asked for the check and I made sure to give her my credit card immediately because I didn't want to wait another 15 for her to return. I'm giving two stars because it's not good but it wasn't the worst experience ever. The service was very very slow for no apparent reason. The waitresses seemed like they were not at all concerned with being efficient. We probably won't return.
