My partner and I stopped in for lunch before a Cubs game recently & the joint was lively! There isn't a ton of seating, but we snagged a high top as someone was leaving. We ordered a slice of cheese & a slice of their white pizza. The slices were perfectly sized & dangerously delicious (we both thought we wanted another slice, but knew we'd eat at the game.) Zaza's has some of the best pizza we've ever had.

Really, really tasty food, but a bit overpriced for the pizza. The cheese curds were delicious and the small order was perfect as an app for 2. Both the garlic aioli and red sauce were perfect and the right amount to also be able to dip our pizza crust in. The hot honey pepperoni was excellent. It was not spicy, and the perfect amount of sweet. The fresh basil was a great touch and the ricotta made it pretty to boot.

I have to say this place is not overrated! It got a lot of social media hype so it's always a feat but it held to its reputation. We got the vodka sausage and the hot honey pepperoni and both were delicious. It falls between a NY style and a hand tossed crust I would say. All pizzas are one size. We also got the chocolate chip cookie. It was solid. Kinda like a bigger flatter levain cookie, cake like in texture.

Zaza's best pizza in Chicago. Order the plain cheese with ranch. AMAZING!!!!!! Easy delivery and great value

In a city with a lot of pizza places, Zazas definitely has a positive impact on the list. Ordering online is beyond easy and the service is fast. There are only one size whole pizzas unless you're eating in and you order by the slice. There are plenty of options to choose from and you can modify a few pizzas and add some toppings to your order. The pizzas are HUGE and you won't go hungry. We went with the Gold Medal Pie and weren't disappointed! Between two people, we had about 2.5 slices each. I definitely will never order here without adding on the garlic knots. It's a bit frustrating you only get a few, but they are very filling and just buttery garlic goodness. They're so delicious. If you are eating in the restaurant, I highly recommend ordering some of the by-the-slice pieces so you can try more of the menu without committing to an entire pizza. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu.

A very solid pizza spot! We really liked how the crust is brushed with garlic. Next time I'd be more adventurous and try a specialty pie, but we were just trialing a standard one. Everyone was very nice and it came out fast. Will definitely be back if we are on this side of town.

I think I almost cried when I opened the box. Ordered the hot honey pepperoni with pork-free pepperoni instead of the regular ones. It was delicious- sweetness from the honey, umami from the pepperoni and cheese, creaminess from the ricotta, and earthiness from the basil! I will say though it is not spicy at all which was disappointing, but we just loaded up on red pepper flakes. Overall, 9/10.

They heat the slices to order so they were all super fresh and crispy. I really loved the special slice! The ricotta cheese and marinara on top paired really well together. This is probably the closest thing to an nyc slice I've had in chi

This pizza immediately satisfied my hot honey pepperoni pie craving. It was so tasty! Not very spicy but you can always add red pepper flakes. The garlic knots were good as well but the marinara was off to me. It was too watery and sweet for my liking. Overall a great spot with easy online ordering/takeout.

Quick bite before a show. The hype was worth it. We are in. Tasted great fresh as well as reheated for lunch the next day. Place is tiny but the cashier was friendly. I would go back if I was in the area.

A true gem in Chicago for really good NYC styled pizza. Loved their hot honey pepperoni as that is a must order and I could never say no to a white truffle mushroom pizza! Perfectly thin crispy crust as it should be and every slice ordered was delicious.

Just a quick update to confirm that three years after opening, Zazas remains the best thin crust pizza spot in Chicago. This time around, since we don't get down there as much as we'd like, we grabbed two pies to mix and match, and then to freeze the leftovers to enjoy down the line. The white pie is excellent - it's a tough pie to execute because there's nothing to hide behind, just fresh ingredients and skill. It's delicious, and the sesame crust is a nice, unique touch. It might be fun to brush a little olive oil and salt on the crust for some added flavor, but that's a personal touch. The dough remains perfectly done, light and chewy with a great undercarriage, just the slightest flop. I have never had the opportunity to grab their grandma pie because it's usually sold out, so I was thrilled to be able to try it. It's somewhere between a free form thin, a sicilian, and a Detroit style, and it's damn great. The sauce is right where you want it (I just added a touch of salt), and the crust is so good. I have never seen my wife eat two slices of pizza faster than with this pie, she's a total convert. And that cheese - it reminds me of the way Lombardi's in NYC does their cheese in that 120 year old coal oven. So good. Being two people who grew up with east coast pizza, I mean it with the highest praise that Zazas is up there with the absolute best pizza I've ever had, in New Jersey, in New York, anywhere. Excited to go back in a few weeks to try the Windy City Pie. Until then, though, those leftovers will do just fine.

This is one of my new favorite Chicago pizzas! Zaza's lives up to the hype. The hot honey pepperoni is perfect in every way. Cheese curds are also phenomenal. Crunchy and more like mozzarella stick bites. Pizza came out quickly on a Saturday night. Can't wait to come back! Zaza's is also BYOB

Ask the Community - Zazas Pizzeria

    Is it BYOB?

    Yes

Do they still sell by the slice? If so, what slices do they sell and how much are they?

They sell by the slice for lunch only (I think slices stop around 4). They always have their classics (gold medal, pepperoni etc) plus their grandma style and a rotating selection of specials. Not sure how much they are but whatever the price, it's…

    Do they deliver?

No they don't deliver, they stopped in September.

Do they sell pizza by the slice?

Yes. Wednesday, Thursday all day or until sold out. Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 4 pm or sold out, whichever comes first.

Speaking of the bar, I got myself a pint of the Golden Road Mango Cart, which did have a fragrance of mangoes. I was a bit annoyed the bartender asked for my ID thinking I was a high schooler (I guess white people in Chicago generally don't have any meaningful relationship with Asians compared to other major cities because this wasn't a one time thing - and I've been to a lot of cities), but at least he tried to smooth it out with a joke. Fine, moving on. I got myself a personal deep dish pizza, since this joint is known for their caramelized crust, although I did wish I got myself a small instead so I can have it delivered in the pan itself. Maybe next time, but I did eat the whole thing. The sauce was more on the bitter and acidic side. The toppings aren't layered and hiding underneath cheese like some other places, which is fine, but I did think it could've used more mushrooms and a more even distribution of toppings considering how thick the bread is. Overall it was worth going out of my way to try it once, as it was highly recommended to me, I'd say it takes #2 so far of all the pizza places I've tried in Chicago. Granted, I didn't have time or didn't come with anyone to share a bunch of things, but maybe next time.
