I'd ordered delivery from Zen Curry and Grill before and liked it, but nothing prepared me for actually eating there in person. My lead engineer, Neeraj, joined me for dinner. He grew up in India and knows authentic Indian food better than almost anyone I know, so I was especially curious to see what he thought. We were running late, so I called at 9:20 p.m. and asked if they could still take us since we were about five minutes away. The owner said yes without hesitation. That kind of hospitality immediately set the tone for the night. Then the food came out -- and wow. Everything tasted fresh, layered, vibrant, and full of real flavor. This was easily some of the best Indian food I've had anywhere, including Orange County. After his first few bites, Neeraj looked at me and simply said, "This is incredible." Coming from someone who grew up with Indian food, that meant everything. The atmosphere is also worth mentioning. It's warm, a little romantic, and genuinely comfortable. The owner was able to accommodate my request without any issue, and when my party and I arrived, our table was ready. The server was friendly and the food was delivered promptly. My go to is the coconut curry with a side of garlic naan bread. My husband and I usually split our order, and it's enough for both of us (we are light eaters). The restaurant is always clean and the seats are comfortable. My husband and I are repeat customers because the food is good and the owner is always so welcoming. The owner treats his customers like VIP guests, and he always appears to be in such a good and happy mood. His staff are amazing and very attentive. Please don't hesitate to make a reservation. Holy guacamole this restaurant is amazing! I visited this wonderful establishment for my birthday, and it might be the best restaurant I've been to. We ordered our food spicy, and it was the greatest food ever!! My mom got spiced up and our waiter gave her a mango lassi for free, so excellent service!! The entire crew there is wonderful. Especially because when my father was talking about "agua", which is the Spanish word for, "water", a worker looked over and gave us more water. We had a delicious Indian meal at Zen Curry & Grill!! The butter chicken, salmon tandoori, pumpkin curry, veggie biryani and garlic naan were all very tasty! Authentic Indian flavors. I especially liked the creaminess of the butter chicken. They serve a crispy chickpea bread with chutney as a yummy free starter. Service was excellent, Darci was our waitress and she was so nice and helpful throughout. The restaurant has a great ambiance, food came out hot and fresh. Our server was fantastic! So helpful in choosing what we wanted to order and always checked on us and was just so pleasant. The complimentary crisp with dipping sauce is do delicious and light. This was our 3rd time at this restaurant. We love ethnic food and Zen Curry food is right up our alley. Our server, Issam, was great and the food was wonderful. We started with the gobi, chicken momos and samosas. Everything tasted great and was fabulous. We moved onto the butter chicken, chicken tikka, chicken biriyani, and garlic naan. Each dish was made with care and attention and everything tasted so delicious. Zen Curry & Grill sure is shaping up to be our favorite Indian food place in either San Diego or Riverside county. It's like meeting a hot girl and you go on a date and she's got no personality. When you walk in this for the first time, you'll get excited. Place looks amazing. They definitely spent money to make this look like a high end restaurant. After you have the food you'll realize the price they charge is not a reflection of the quality of the food they serve. It's to pay for the huge overhead. Prices are about 20-25-% higher than our fav Indian restaurant in the area. But taste and quality is half of the other place. It was really disappointing. To top it off, service isn't even great. Def won't be coming back. This was my second time dining at Zen Curry & Grill, and unfortunately it will probably be my last. Vist date Sunday May 31th My wife and I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Tandoori (listed as Chicken Kabob), garlic naan, and dessert. The Chicken Tikka Masala was extremely bland and tasted more like cream than a properly seasoned curry. The Chicken Tandoori/Kabob had very little resemblance to traditional tandoori chicken or chicken kabobs and was disappointing. The garlic naan was another letdown. It tasted and felt like it had been toasted from frozen rather than freshly made. The biggest issue came with dessert, where we found a raw garlic piece mixed into it, which completely ruined the experience. To make matters worse, the bill came to about $120 for two people. At that price point, I expected much better quality, flavor, and attention to detail. I gave the restaurant a second chance because I wanted to like it, but after this visit, I don't see myself returning. Thank you, but no thanks. read more

Enjoyed a very elegant, sensory dinner at this place Saturday night, our third time there. Love it so much! The Chai is so comforting...though instead of the black pepper, it tastes like they use anise. A nice change!! We always get Tandoori chicken and Tika Masala and garlic naan. Yum! Wednesday, 2-12-2025: I crave Indian food often because no one in my family can tolerate it except for my mom (may she RIP-miss her!) so I rarely get a chance to indulge. Thankfully, my friend asked to meet for lunch and suggested this restaurant. I was truly overjoyed! It was the perfect place to catch up. The exterior definitely does not match the interior. The decor is exotic and classy with an understated elegance. It reflected the areas from which the food originated: India & Nepal. It smelled so heavenly as we entered, which we knew promised tasty culinary delights. We were pleasantly greeted and seated right away in a booth. Darcy was our server and she was very welcoming & attentive. Their menu is extensive and full of mouth watering options. They offered a $14.99 lunch special that spoke to us. For appetizers I opted for the veggie samosas. They were fantastic! I ordered the chicken tikka masala & my friend ordered the salmon version along with Basmati rice & their savory garlic naan. It was excellent , which seems like an understatement! I truly savored every bite. We ended up staying for about 4 hours. They had to bring a candle to the table as it started to get dark. They were extremely gracious to allow us to sit there. One of the other servers, Pradeep, came over to speak with us. We told him how much we loved the food & he was happy to hear this. Zen curry has a lot to offer. We came because they have the most extensive options for non meat dishes that I've ever seen at an Indian restaurant. We started off with the veggie platter ($20) for appetizer. Came with veggie samosas, onion rings, masala fries, fried cauliflower, pakora. Although tasty, I would stay away from all fried stuff next time and just stick with samosas. It was filled with curry potatoes and dipped with a tamarind sauce or mint chutney. So many curries, masala, aloo, paneer, saag, kormas. I usually get veggie korma which is safe and always offered at Indian places but I got the pumpkin curry($18) which I haven't seen before. We also got chicken tikka masala ($20). The service was super fast. We arrived when they opened at 11 and we wrapped up at 11:30 to meet our friends by noon. If you want lots of options, quick and tasty meals, Zen curry and Grill is the place to be. I think it's more on the pricey side but if they have an affordable lunch special for $14.99 from 11-3:30 M-F with choice of wings and fries/soup and salad /naan, main dish and rice. read more

I dined here for lunch today and was absolutely blown away by the phenomenal food and service! I loved the complimentary papadum they served with two different chutneys. Both chutneys (I believe one was a cilantro one and the other was with tamarind) were so yummy and flavorful. We ordered the garlic naan, mixed grill platter and saag paneer, which also came with rice. The garlic naan was so flavorful and delicious, with the perfect chew. I loved that the mixed grill platter was served on a sizzling platter, it was equal parts flavorful and tender. My favorites on the platter were probably the lamb chops! The saag paneer was a great addition to the meal, and I liked that it wasn't too cream-heavy like they can be at other places. I also really appreciated how cohesive and well thought out the service was. They were very attentive to my severe nut allergy, which I always appreciate. They also had a little "welcome" place card for my name on the table, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Lots of vegetarian options if that's your thing. The patio is sunny and inviting, and the staff made us feel completely at home--super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We love trying a bunch of dishes together and sharing bites. I also appreciated that they could adjust spice levels for each person, which made it easy for our group with different preferences.
