I was staying at the hotel for an entire week so o would come down for breakfast lunch sometimes dinner sometimes but always for drinks. By day 2 i was a familiar face the employees were beyond invredible with their customer service and never leaving an empty drink on the table. The food was invredible the drinks also nice and strong, for my entire week sabrina took great care of me . The service alone from the employees is what led to my longer stay and the food was incredible. I also really loved how at night its a different theme of entertainment. read more

I read all the reviews before deciding to write my own. I am quite shocked at the arrogance of many of the younger set who seem to believe that restaurants and bars should only be inhabited by cool looking twenty-one year olds - and that anyone over 40 is a "cougar". Since when does being over 40 mean you have to stay home and order from Domino's Pizza? What absolute nerve from young people who probably have nothing but a firm body to offer anyone - certainly no brains. I am offended indeed! Anyway, to get back to my review. I am the organizer of a group named LADIES WHO LUNCH - SOUTH BAY. Twelve of us reserved a table in the patio for 11:45 am on Friday, before the lunch crowd descended. It was cool, and the staff were kind enough to turn on the heaters. The only negative of the lunch was that we had to wait over 45 minutes to receive our food. However, the wait was well worth it! The food was absolutely delicious. I had eaten a late breakfast, so ordered the cheapest thing on the menu - a $10 cheese sandwich with sweet potato fries. Boy, was I in for a delightful surprise. This was the best sandwich I have ever had in my life. Filled with cheese, pesto and warm spinach - surrounded by a crusty roll of some sort - it was heavenly. Everyone else enjoyed their pizzas, fish dishes or burgers -- and to cap it off, every one of us was given a card for a complimentary second lunch. Not only that - they gave us all separate checks, which included tax and gratuity. Kudos indeed to Zinc at the Shade Hotel. In my opinion, restaurants and bars should be able to cater to clients of all ages, without more mature guests being made to feel they are not wanted or are disparaged on Yelp. Wake up youngsters --- hopefully you will live to be a cougar yourself. read more

Came here tonight for my wife's birthday and we couldn't have been any happier. I wish I could remember our waitress name but she was amazing and beyond helpful. My wife got the salmon and that was fantastic, I got the black angus short rib and it was melt in your mouth perfect. We will for sure be coming back here again and again. read more

I have had nothing but awesome experiences going to Zinc Lounge. They have been so good that I have convinced the company I work for to have happy hours and office parties there. The service is above standard and the professionalism sets the bar for all of the other local lounges and restaurants. Everyone from the bartenders to the servers to the upper management treats you as if you are a VIP. I would highly recommend coming here for dining, cocktailing, and listening to awesome music. I just celebrated my birthday at Shade and had an amazing time! About 15 of us started there before heading down to the strand house later that evening. Zinc reserved a great table for us which was waiting for us when we arrived and our waitress was awesome! We had more people than seats and before we knew it the staff brought us over extra chairs. Velvet roped entry on Friday and Saturday night. Sunset Strip in Manhattan Beach.......is what this place feels like. I think the food served there is significantly different and better than most of bar food in town. The cocktails are not impressive but wine list is. I like the seating too. read more

As much as I want to love this place and how uber convenient it is to my house, I have to rate Zinc poorly because of bad service and even worse noise. I came here last week for DineLA and we had to ask multiple times for the DineLA menu... then the waitress got the order wrong... and then she would disappear for extended periods of time. And the noise, oh the noise! At one point I couldn't hear my partner, who was sitting right next to me. As much as Zinc wants to portray itself as a cool hip lounge, it leaves a lot to be desired. read more

We came here on a Monday afternoon for lunch. We literally stumbled upon it after bumbling around trying to find a place that sounded good for lunch. We stopped at Le Pain, but this place was right next door and had a more substantial lunch menu. I didn't realize it was part of a hotel, but it didn't bother me at all. While dining, it didn't feel like a hotel restaurant. The patio was a good size, with modern furniture and very sunny with shaded areas if you'd like. The view isn't great, it's in a courtyard and your view is the back of Petros but it was a beautiful day and the patio was lovely to relax on. The food and service were both pleasant. We started with the Ceviche - it was good at first. But then as the sauce around the ceviche was more incorporated it became entirely too sweet. The entrees were much better. I had the grilled fish tacos and the man had the BTLA - both really yummy. The one complaint - the iced tea. It's flavored. Passion fruit or raspberry or something. Stopped by Zinc at Shade hotel on a sunday afternoon for some drinks and a snack. The white Sangria is aaamazing and so are the bloody marys which you can order by spicyness (a 10 is spiciest). My boyfriend and I enjoyed the best fried calamari while sitting on the sunny patio while listening to live music being played in the courtyard nearby. Alissa the manager was so friendly and accomodating. Our service was great and we will definitely be back to try more signature cocktails and items on the menu! Yumm!! read more

I have planned 3 separate events here and attended one and they do a great job! Cocktails are fantastic and the vibe is mellow. Waitstaff and management is always super friendly as is the hotel front desk. Any place you can go early evening and grab a bar stool and the bartender (tyler) already has your beer opened is a great place. Great little menu and the coctails are definitely delish. My friend and I stopped by for a happy hour. There were plenty of public parking everywhere so I didn't spend any time looking for a spot to park my car. The restaurant looked very nice. We sat at the bar and the chair was very comfortable. I have been to many bars and most times the chairs/ stools are not comfortable and it makes me want to leave or not to come back again. Chairs are very important for me. So that was a big plus. The bartender was very pleasant and he was making sure that we were having good time. The food was delicious. I loved the variety of happy hour drink menu. They had wine, beer, and cocktails for a very reasonable price. I had really really good time. I can not wait to go back!! read more

Okay, Zinc does appetizers well. Really well. Never have I gone in to have a light dinner from the app's and been disappointed. In particular, this past week had the meatballs and cerviche. Big portions (for appetizers) and really, really tasty. On drinks, when you have one of the long-time pro's, you get a great drink. I really like this place but don't make it out here as much as I like. One of the big plus is the parking structure under the mall, easy to park. Great design, crowd is buzzing...dinged it because the awesome rooftop patio is often closed for private events or ???? and the drinks do get expensive (I've had a few $200+ tabs here). I really loved this place -- great location with convenient parking in the garage (bring quarters for the meters), just a short walk down to the pier. My friend and I sat outside and talked for a couple hours while eating. The waitresses were really friendly and patient and not pushy at all. I got a mimosa to drink. It was only $5.95. I couldn't refuse. For my lunch, I got the fresh fish (which was salmon) and two sides -- sweet potato fries and fruit salad. The one night we were there they were filming what I can only assume is some VH-1 D-List Special since Scott Baio, and that guy from the Wonder Years was wandering around calling everyone "Dah-ling". I've only been here once and it was last night (Saturday) for a friend's 40th bday celebration. For nightlife, this is not my scene. The 30 and 40 somethings would like this place. On the positive side, beautiful decor. Its dimly lit and has comfortable couches. There was a DJ playing prehistoric 70s and 80s lol. I ordered their blackberry cocktail...about $13-14, yummy. The outdoor patio was closed off due to rain, omg what a beautiful venue for a wedding or party. I asked if its normally open as part of the lounge and I was told yes. I later went outside to take pics there and was told by a bouncer that area was closed off to hotel guests. Newsflash, NO ONE WAS OUT THERE (due to recent rains). I don't see what the big deal was with me there taking pictures). I'm sure dinner would be nice here for a date. Park at City Hall or underneath at Metlox. read more

Remember all the more upscale places you went to around the time when you were 22? Well this place is like that except imagine everyone is in their 40's and up. The ambiance is nice, but the clientelle is old. Which is OK except if you're not their age, and you come with younger people, the old men will swoon hard on the girls, and very awkwardly, and the guys will be hit on by some of the older women, which I guess is OK if you're looking for that kind of thing. Overall, if you're in that age range, it's probably an awesome time. If you're out of that age range, you'll probably feel out of place here. read more
