I cannot visit Hawaii without visiting a Zippy's. It is the ultimate Hawaiian comfort food spot. Of all the times we have visited Hawaii we only tried Zippy's for the first time last year on the Big Island. They are all over Oahu. I was ecstatic when I saw there was 1 location in Maui close to the airport. This was our first meal and it did not disappoint. We got a plate with korean fried chicken and chili with rice. I usually don't eat chili but I do at Zippy's. It is the bomb. Korean fried chicken, bomb. My daughter got a mini chicken katsu and she enjoyed it. My son got a bacon cheeseburger and he liked it too. Prices aren't cheap but nothing is, we accept that. The food is solid and we dream about coming back. Service was exceptional as well. IYKYK. After watching a YouTube video of Jason Mamoa eating here, husband and I had to give it a try on our first food spot in Maui. Unfortunately it was nothing to rave home about. I got the Zip Pac Deluxe. The best part was the beef. It was seasoned and sauced up excellently and it was tender. The macaroni salad was good. Everything else was underwhelming. Spam, breaded fish, and chili was nothing special but edible. Now the fried chicken I was a disappointed because it seemed like a popular item and thought it would be good but it was very dry and the flavor was lacking. Husband got the Surf Pac. His only had the fried chicken and beef but double serving of it. The portions are big but still expensive but everything here is going to be expensive and while husband did enjoy his food I thought the taste and enjoyment of the food did not match the price tag. Ok Zippys I finally met you! After many visits and hearing about the famous zippys we finally stopped in. The connivence and location to the airport made it an easy choice! Now this is a place where you need to avoid if you have heart problems because it's fried it's salty and it's tasty! I ordered the half loco moco and it was still a massive plate that had me wheeling out of the restaurant.
