This was a huge disappointment and a complete rip-off. I ordered (by phone) three regular chicken chili plates and one mini. Trusting the place had integrity, I didn't check the food before leaving -- I paid, tipped, and left. When I got home, I was shocked. Each "regular" plate had less than 1/4 cup of chili -- not even enough to cover one scoop of rice. It looked like they were scraping the very last of the batch. Each plate also had just two pieces of chicken and two scoops of rice. The total for three regulars and one mini was $65+, which is outrageous for what we received. I strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere. There are so many good local spots that offer far better value. I genuinely feel ripped off. read more

Always a winner with Kahului Zippy's ! We saw old friends and had a leisurely lunch. They let you sit for a spell if it's not an overly crowded day. We ordered Korean fried chicken with a side salad. I went in for dinner last night and scanned to dine in. Initially, I was told it would be a 15-minute wait, which quickly turned into 45 minutes -- still understandable, especially during busy hours. What wasn't okay was how rude the hostess was. She was an elderly woman who seemed visibly irritated and dismissive when we asked questions. It set a negative tone before we even sat down. Once we were seated, our server, continued that same energy. He was short, unwelcoming, and didn't seem to want to be there at all. I get it -- working in food service can be stressful, and we all have bad days. But in customer service, you have to be able to show up for your guests regardless. That wasn't the case here. Out of the two servers working that night, at least one was just plain rude. It's disappointing when the quality of the food is overshadowed by poor service. I really hope management takes a closer look at the customer experience here, because Zippy's deserves to be known for more than just great food. read more
